But I actually appreciated how it was handled in this movie, because it kept the focus on the story (unlike CMBYN).

The two actors in this movie were absolutely incredible. Especially considering how young they are.

They put so much emotion into their performances, and I was completely blown away.

These guys had an intensity and chemistry that you don't see in veteran actors even twice or three times their age.

This is by far the best gay movie I've ever seen.

I’ve been in a quandary about watching this movie. It is based on a YA book that dates back to 1982 that is the second novel in a six sequence of books that is the magnum opus of the British writer Adrian Chambers. It was a revolutionary book when it was published at its time and highly regarded. While it seems obvious why they didn’t keep the title for the movie adaptation, in some ways it feels like a bit of a betrayal. This book was very important to me at the time and I have fond memories of it.

Ozon cast two perfect young actors, and they are both so GOOD at acting. So believable.

Benjamin is only 24 here and Felix is only 21, but the passion and the emotion that they both show here is just spectacular.

Young and In Love

Just watched it…actors were great. I didn’t connect it with the book Dance on My Grave. I know I read that in high school but don’t remember the story.

"I am Jonas" destroyed me. I was not prepared for that type of story and didn’t read the synopsis before watching.

Very YA. Just like the novel.

R45 that's the French language and culture. French people and the spoken language take pains to SOUND harmonious but deliver surgical, precisely aimed, intimate messages - like they are scripted. And a movie is scripted of course. But they aim for it all the time.

I just finished it. I guess it was good. The leads were strong. It did feel like a complete piece of work which is satisfying in a movie (many feel over or under done). Not sure I’ll watch it again though.

The twink/heartbroken lover comes off super creepy in the end. Like, predator vibes.

No, I think they were both just in grief.

David's father died only about a year before the movie takes place.

From what I could tell watching the movie, David became rebellious and his mother became withdrawn and depressed.

They were both very happy when Alex came along, because he brought joy back into both of their lives.

They even made plans to include him in their business and probably more.

And then, of course.... BAM!
