Francis Lederer - Hunky Czech-born Hollywood star
I'm watching Romance in Manhattan, 1935, starring Francis Lederer and Ginger Rogers. A sweet little B movie. And this hunk Lederer, never heard of him but he had a career in Europe and then a pretty good career in USA and became very rich through real estate. He was born poor in Prague in 1899, and was a "wrestler". He's shirtless briefly in this movie and is very fine!
Do you know of this guy? Or others like him - sexy and mostly forgotten to history, nowadays?

If you ever get the chance to see the German silent, "The Wonderful Lies of Nina Petrowna" with Brigitte Helm - he was absolutely gorgeous in it.

The Diary of a Chambermaid (1946) is a very campy film. Judith Anderson glamorizes made Paulette Goddard to seduce her son Hurd Hatfield so he won't leave home. Francis Lederer is absolutely hysterical as the evil butler, and Burgess Meredith and Florence Bates are a hoot as the next door neighbors. Irene Ryan too!!!

Is Francis Lederer related to Friedrich von Ledebur?

Lederer became wealthy in real estate and was a big deal in the development of Owensmouth-Canoga Park-West Hills.
His second wife was Margo, who went on to marry Eddie Albert.

IMDB says he was giving acting classes until shortly before he died in 2000, at age 100.

He played a modern day Dracula in the late 1950s era The Return of Dracula”; I remember seeing it on tv when I was a kid. The scene that stuck with me was his death scene; falling into a pit onto a bunch of pikes that pierced his body. Pretty graphic to me at the time.

You may call them high riding, r19, but the waist band is at his actual waist.

The Hays Code forbade audiences from seeing navels.
Navels = Sex.
This Wiki survey seems more interested in female navels.

One of vintage Hollywood's "Hot Jews."
Oddly, he plays an "Eskimo" in MAN OF TWO WORLDS (34), his first Hollywood film.
