James Fox or Edward Fox: Who is Better?

The Fox brothers have been a stable of British cinema for the last six decades. However, which do you think is the better actor?

Edward Fox has also appeared in some of the greatest films of the United Kingdom; Oh! James Fox has also appeared in great films: King Rat (1963), Those Magnificent Men and Their Flying Machines (1965), The Chase (1966), Performance (1970), Greystroke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (1984), A Passage to India (1984), The Mighty Quinn (1989), The Russia House (1990), Patriot Games (1992), The Remains of the Day (1993), Sexy Beast (1999), The Golden Bowl (2000), The Prince and Me (2004), Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (2005), Sherlock Holmes (2009), W.E. James of course. He was thoroughly modern.

It's a hard choice because Edward is in more of the "award-type films," but I discovered James first in The Remains of the Day.

I enjoyed James in The Servant and King Rat

I remember reading an interview where Edward Fox said he has never worn blue jeans.

by Anonymousreply 4December 29, 2021 5:56 PM

Edward was also in The Go-between

Oh, Jamie Foxx by far. He’s much funnier than all of his brothers.

Edward -- great in everything, esp. A Bridge Too Far.

James Fox doing the "Tapioca" with Julie Andrews in "Millie" was so charming, that I loved seeing him anytime ever after! Plus he was with Mick Jagger in "Performance"!

Is the poll not working right for anyone else?

James Fox is the better actor but Edward Fox has infinitely more likeable children .

by Anonymousreply 10December 29, 2021 7:14 PM

James is also terrific and likable in "A Passage to India".

Yes, he great chemistry with Victor Banerjee.

Edward Fox is in the better films (except James' A Passage to India, The Remains of the Day, and the Golden Bowl- those are kickass movies).

James always seemed to enjoy himself though.

What, no love for Lawrence?

by Anonymousreply 14December 30, 2021 5:10 PM

James Fox because he graced us with his massive, intact dong in 'Performance.'

by Anonymousreply 15December 30, 2021 5:13 PM

No, no love for Lawrence, r14. Freddie and Emilia are cool, though.

by Anonymousreply 16December 30, 2021 5:30 PM

Edward Fox; he is so classy.

by Anonymousreply 17December 31, 2021 4:53 PM

Oh, come on -- Tap, tap, tap-Tapioca! James :-)
