I don't mind her now, and I never thought I would say that. She grew pretty quickly out of her asshole stage (that admittedly at first looked like it would last a lifetime) after what happened in Manchester.

She's a good singer. She has a decent sense of humor. She even was smart enough to kick Pete Davidson to the curb, and parlay that into the only fucking song of hers I can name, (but still not recognize when I hear it. Oh, well. I'm old.)

I think she will continue to grow as an artist (seriously, I never thought I would type this shit), and I would be interested to see her try her hand at acting.

r16 Kelly and Arianna performed together on the voice. Kelly shit all over her, like zero effort to sing her face off. Arianna is good when she does her songs but Kelly can sing the phone book and make it sound amazing.

Those are not even up to date before and afters of Ariana. She is quite beautiful, even with all the work. She doesn't look real but she does look like a cross between Audrey Hepburn and a tiny Sophia Loren.

Ariana has had the ponytail lift and the cantilevered eye corner lift. A nose job and some jaw work. The lips. Teeth. Probably more. A lot of cosmetic surgery for a young woman of 28. She's created an almost anime like face - but her features are beautifully harmonious. For now.

She is not Mariah of this generation in any shape or form. The only reason she was ever associated with Mariah was because earlier in her career, she covered "Emotions" by MC and did the whistle register. That's it. That was what ignited the comparison. Mariah's vocal abilities definitely take center stage but her thing has always been about songwriting right from her debut album. She started as a backup singer and then, made her way into the industry. Ariana was a Nickelodeon star that got groomed and manufactured into a pop star by the Recording executives backed by a team of songwriters and producers. MC, in her peak, had a no. 1 single and album for each year throughout the 90's, successfully transitioned from pop/ballad to RnB, had some failed projects followed by a nervous breakdown and then, followed with a smash hit comeback with The Emancipation of Mimi. Ariana's boring in comparison. There's no juice in her journey.

A voice like Ariana's isn't manufactured by Disney or Nickelodeon, R36. Don't deny the woman's vocal talent. She is not Mariah and should stop being compared to her. Many singers have whistle notes and ranges. It's like being double jointed. Kelly Clarkson has better whistle notes than Mariah these days. Mariah always sounded like a crying tween girl singing into an oscillating fan. Her vocal tricks were impressive but she never knew and doesn't know how to sing. Her brief period of being able to sing a portion of melody in whistle register was very pretty - and never reliable. And v e r y brief.

Ariana knows how to sing but her voice is not as powerful and her tone is not signature like the great DIVAS. Have you heard that she does just fine by changing it up? 253 million followers. Ariana is the Epitome of a PoP star. AND she can really sing too.

R22 Troye is very uncomfortable to watch and cannot dance. He performance is almost cringeworthy and I feel embarrassed for him. I have never heard of him. I like the song.

Her voice is nice but it does lack soul. She's pop though not R&B though she tries. As for the Mariah comparison, I can hear it. But I'd much rather listen to Ariana than Mariah. Mariah only sounded great on her early albums and is very much the technician too. Her voice is unlistenable now. Ariana is competent at what she does and she is evolving. She hasn't ruined her voice.

Why has nobody mentioned Adele? Her voice blows all the above mentioned bitches away. I do like Ariana though. The little girl schtick has made her very rich, and she owns it. I loved her in Don’t Look Up.

Mariah is a capable songwriter and was a great vocalist with massive range and technicality in the 90s. But she was also a lousy live artist and was overexposed thanks to marrying a man with connections. By the early 2000s, her voice became cartoonish, annoying and nasally. Emancipation mainly worked because of the production which was fresh and in line with mid-2000s hip-hop trend which she used as a comeback. Her voice was shaky but the overproduction and autotune helped mask it.

Mariah can sound decent from time to time nowadays, but back in the 90s, her voice was phenomenal. I watched some earlier clips of her performing America the Beautiful at the NBA Finals, which was her television debut. Despite being nervous and suffering from stage fright, she blew it out of the water. Her earlier performances on Oprah singing Vision of Love and If It's Over were stellar, too.

Yeah, Mariah's tone has become thin and nasally over the years, and she lost pretty much all of her upper chest voice. (Surprisingly, her whistle register stronger than ever.) However, she's still a great songwriter/producer, and I believe despite losing a lot of her voice, that will keep her around for a while.
