The original reporting was her contract was up "early next year", for which she negotiated the change. Daily Beast's latest reporting is that the “nightly show will cease to air in its current form around spring of 2022.” So RMS may be around in its current form for a few months.

MSNBC feels like it's in a weird state of flux.
It makes watching the channel very uncomfortable.

I wish she'd hang in with her current show at least until after the midterms, then switch to weekends.

Rachel won't stay, R3.
She's going to take the $30,000,000 and run.

Was Joe "on fire" this morning?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 20, 2021 3:33 PM |
Joe and his idiot wife were obnoxious this morning. He just ranted about not shutting down venues in hard hit areas. He is too worried about feeding his face at restaurants. And Mika was being her usual bitchiness against Danny Deutsch. What is her problem with him? She is always nasty to him. She thinks her family is some sort of Democratic Party royalty. She is desperate to hold on to her late father's coattails and now, once again, will be all hoity toity that her brother is once again an Ambassador to Poland.

With another variant or 2 between now and election day we may be able to reduce the ranks of enough Trump anti-vaxxers to garner an edge in the mid-terms. That's if actual vote counts matter anymore. Wishful thinking I guess.

MSNBC will be in real trouble if Rachel is in fact leaving
none of their shows come close to getting her numbers
her numbers (and all MSNBC/CNN ratings) have been down since the inauguration anyway as many have tuned out
meanwhile propaganda hub Fox is soaring

Brian Williams announced he is leave MSNBC on Nov 9th, chances are he let management know before that, they at the very least should have had some idea, yet they still don't have a replacement, that is a shitty way to run a network.

I normally do not watch Maddow but happened to watch it last night. What was up with Lawrence O’Donnell blathering on and on and on for five minutes at the top of his hour? Rachel looked seriously uncomfortable and I couldn’t blame her, it was like being cornered by your senile Aunt Shirley at Thanksgiving.

There is no need for a conspiracy theory on an issue that is purely derivative. Rachel could be bald and wear royal blue and it likewise would have no bearing. She is no fashion plate Joy Reid. Rachel doesn't have to be.

John Hielman was dropping 4:20 references to Neil Katyal today while subbing for Nicolle, yesterday he was making references to Jonathan Lemire that Lemire sometimes doesn't wear pants while doing Way To Early.
I don't think Hielman will be doing much more subbing for Nicolle, I didn't mind it but I doubt MSNBC brass will like that type of thing.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | December 24, 2021 12:22 AM |
making references to Jonathan Lemire that Lemire sometimes doesn't wear pants while doing Way To Early.
That would be tough considering Lemire starts each show standing out in the middle of the studio. It was a jab following Lemire's dig that Heilemann was nearly unrecognizable in his suit and tie. Piling on with another jab about the Boston Red Sox. And yet another repeat of the pantsless joke. It seemed like a little much, even if these guys like to banter with each other.
He did have a few other jokes - like throwing up in his mouth at the mental image of Mitch McConnell showing a little leg. Slightly more like Morning Joe level discourse.

R45 I like his NYC home decor, esp the kitchen. I've wondered about the brightly colored ceramic figurines of woodland animals. Are they kitsch or valuable collectables?

Nicolle Wallace had Tim O'Brien of Bloomberg News on to discuss the candidacy of Mehmet Oz for the US Senate seat of Pennsylvania, unfortunately for Tim he seemed to think that Mehment Oz was running for Governor and talked about Dr. Oz messing with the voting in Pennsylvania if he should be elected Governor and no one bothered to correct him. Steve Schmidt followed Tim speaking and talked about Mehment Oz running for Senator.
These hosts should correct the people they have on their shows when they state something so incorrect.

Unless they're grooming Chris Jansing for the job, I think Tom Llamas might be a good replacement for Brian Williams. He would certainly be nice eye candy to look at plus I thought he was supposed to get a show of his own at some point, most likely on MSNBC?
So far it doesn't appear the execs at NBC really know what to do with him. The only time I ever see him is when he occasionally co-hosts the Today show or turns in some random report for the nightly news with Lester Holt. He may as well have stayed at ABC.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | December 30, 2021 6:33 AM |
Tom Llamas hosts "Top Story With Tom Llamas," the nightly newscast on NBC News Now, NBC's streaming service. All the networks are beginning to move some of their top talent to their streaming services. I'm not sure if it's a wise move or not, but it seems to be the direction that the networks are headed.

If he is viewed as at least not middle of the road, he would never get any Republicans on Meet The Press. How could Rashida Jones dump their host of Meet The Press from MSNBC, when she only controls MSNBC not NBC News. Plus right now she has bigger problems than Chuck Todd, like filling two very huge openings, right now. Not creating a new opening.

Madison Cawthorn Taunts Maddow For Being ‘Afraid’ to Debate Him, Slams Her ‘Woke Dystopian Bubble’
Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) has been taunting MSNBC host Rachel Maddow after one of her producers accidentally emailed his office, and shared a concern that he might want to appear on her show.
On Monday, a Maddow producer emailed an NBC News colleague about an attempt by a group of North Carolina voters to prevent Cawthorn from running for reelection this year. The campaign seeks to connect the Republican to “insurrection” with regard to his support for former President Donald Trump on Jan. 6 before the Capitol riot.
Cawthorn’s office was mistakenly copied in the email, in which the unnamed producer expressed concern that Cawthorn might request to appear on The Rachel Maddow Show if the program were to reach out to his office about the story, Fox News reported.
by Anonymous | reply 185 | January 12, 2022 2:24 AM |

It is pretty hard to debate someone who just completely lies about everything, you have no idea what they are going to lie about, so you can't even prepare to refute their lies. Rachel would have to go on the attack and not give him a chance to start with his lies and put him on the defense trying to refute her attacks but it just isn't in Rachel's nature to just start right out attacking someone.

Why wasn't it accidentally copied to every address in the sender's contact list? Why just Roller Nazi? It seems to me someone actively sought out the address and "point and click" added it to the copy line, and voila! Instant Low T supporter red meat controversy!
"Big bad libtard news host won't debate our boy Cawthorne! She's afraid to face the true facts! She knows she'll lose! She's so smug and tough spouting her lies on her show! Not so tough now! MAGA! *rump 2024!" 🙄

I remember a PBS (?) show that took the history of science and wove it with small, incremental breakthroughs to make major changes to society. It was fascinating. Rachel weaves a story just as good as those examples. She answers the question, "Tell me how this happened", every night.

I was thinking the same thing when I read that.
I watch (DVR actually) the first hour or so of Morning Joe, and then don't return to MSNBC until Rachel at 9 - although not when she has the evening off. And that's it.
When I'm home, I'll watch any number of other things I've recorded - a news broadcast, a movie, an episode of a series - or an my next episode of The Edge of Night on Youtube.
But to sit glued to one network reminds me of my grandmother, knitting in her living room, watching whatever was on CBS after dinner.

$115,000 assuming she works 5 days a week for 52 weeks. In reality, she may be closer to $150,000. And that’s without adjusting for her “sabbaticals.”

How many threads do we have? There’s this and at least two Part 35s started by cheapskates who are locked out.

This is a pay walled thread. The scat troll is a paid member. If I were a disgusting piece of filth, I would definitely pay to be here spreading feculence.

MSNBC should just fire Maddow for not living up to her contract.
MSNBC should just fire Maddow for not living up to her contract.
But she [italic]is[/italic] living up to her contract:
The TV star’s new contract will give her a wide range of opportunities across NBCUniversal's news and entertainment divisions as she looks to develop podcasts, documentaries, and other types of multimedia projects.

Rachel Maddow is fucking INSUFFERABLE. Get to the point, bitch. Like this: GOOD RIDDANCE.

RWNJ trolls are so tedious. I don’t get why they have taken residence here. Surely they cannot be getting paid for this “work.” They stick out like sore thumb and are a tiny minority here. Whatevs. Head over to the Andy Cohen threads I say. The net results will be the same.

Rachel OWNS MSNBC. She can do as she likes with her numbers.

Yasmin talks out of one-side of her mouth.
by Anonymous | reply 424 | February 6, 2022 9:39 PM |
I am a long-time Rachel fan, but I think the writing is on the wall. Remember her show pre-2016?
She really did some good work then: uncovering Fat Christie’s Bridgegate Scandal, the Flint Michigan crisis, and going after Republicans like John Boehner, Paul Ryan, and Mitt Romney, even the missing MH370!
Guests also would come to the studio.
*sigh* The good ole days….

Who’s filling in for her tonight?
Ayman already filled in for Nicolle.
Is it The Velshi?

Stephanie Ruhle is replacing Brian Williams on "Last Word," but who is going to be MSNBC's main anchor when big breaking news happens? Brian Williams used to show up to anchor when there was live coverage of a huge news event. He also was the main anchor for political events, like presidential debates and election night, joined by Rachel, Nicolle and Joy. I can't see Stephanie serving as MSNBC's breaking news anchor, and it seems that Rachel is gradually reducing her responsibilities to focus on other things like podcasts. MSNBC needs someone in its weeknight lineup with the gravitas and anchoring experience of Brian to be available for big, breaking news.

Rachel's "sabbaticals" are going to be the death of Ali Velshi. My God, it seems like he works around the clock. I hope he's getting paid fairly for all the abuse he is put through. Rachel needs to fuck off. MSNBC always runs on a skeleton crew. It's not fair and as stated up thread, she clearly doesn't want to be there. What the fuck do she and Susan do with all that money anyway?
by Anonymous | reply 429 | February 8, 2022 2:37 AM |
Rachel is never going to return to a daily show. Give the time to Velshi. He’s good.

I think they ought to go for the Williams charm offensive and use John Heilemann. I just wish he had hair.

Have we seen Clint Watts on this network??? Who is this handsome man on my television?? Oh what I would pay to Eiffel Tower with him and Ayman…..

Next time Nicolle and the Debutantes (Katie, Stephanie and Halle) start whining about Covid exhaustion and wanting to go out to dinner and on vacation and returning their children to school, please remind them of how sick Nicolle was this time around and how she returned to the airwaves looking like lukewarm shit.
Mask up and shut up; this bitch ain't done with us yet.

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
