He comes from a very tight family. My partner has been friends with his family for many many years and I know them reasonably well. Though I think he's a bit young, his family orientation will serve him well in the long run. He has little appeal outside of the Spider Man franchise. He's short, bland, average looks and a middling acting talent. It's not like he's going to have Leo DiCaprio, Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt's career.

If you stay with a franchise too long, people never find out whether you can really act or can just do the franchise--in a weird way I think it helped Andrew Garfield's career he left the Spider-Man movies (I found him annoying as spider-Man, and wouldn't have known he was so good in other things).

Nothing Tom has done so far outside of playing Spider-Man has been successful. The dramatic movies he’s done for streaming have gotten bad reviews and his other bid at a franchise movie, Chaos Walking, was a disaster. If his movie with Wahlberg stiffs he should take that as the cue to stick with Spider-Man as long as he can

He's going nowhere. He's about to start filming another Spidey trilogy and has a much hyped Uncharted film coming out in two months. He'll also be playing Fred Astaire in a new Sony/Amy Pascal biopic. Funnily enough Amazon have their own Fred Astaire project going on with Jamie Bell as Astaire.

Both Sony and Marvel love him and will do anything to keep him happy. Especially now with Eternals being Marvel's first major misstep since the MCU became huge Feige is very keen on trying to keep the superhero ball rolling. At the moment Holland is the one keeping the flame alive. There have been reports of massive reshoots for the new Doctor Strange film and Marvel is nervous although it's quite probable the movie is just fine. But the reality is most actors who made the MCU absolutely huge are gone and there's no new Avengers/Thanos-level multi-movie story coming out any time soon, possibly ever again. Tom Holland is pure gold for them and they'll hold on to him with paychecks worth tens of millions. Holland is exhausted and wants to quit the business? Well that's not saying much. The misstep comment was actually more about the quality of the film and how it differs from the preceding MCU films. It's like the film has nothing in common with the much-loved earlier films. Tom Holland's Spidey on the other hand is all about the earlier films.

Still, worldwide B.O. is still yet to reach $400M while Spiderman is expected to be the first pandemic era 1 billion dollar film, although obviously Omicron might make that difficult. Eternals came out when people were already seeing light at the end of the tunnel and yet it didn't perform better.

But the quality of the film is high r63. Critics not liking that it’s different doesn’t mean it isn’t good quality. These are people who thought Thor was a good movie. It’s actually terrible.
