I think she’s been dead for almost ten years.

She used to have specials all the time on CBC back in the maritimes-obsessed 90’s. I think she had a pretty hardscrabble life, and even as a kid I remember feeling that there was something to be said about living in a country where an obese middle-aged woman with a harelip got to be a beloved national songbird.

She’s fabulously matronly.

She seems very nice, like most Canadians I’ve met.
