Merchant Ivory Type of Films
I'm a huge Merchant Ivory Productions fan. However, I have noticed there are some "Merchant Ivory-esque" films out there than James did not direct. Here is what I have:
The English Patient
Out of Africa
The Madness of King George
Gosford Park
Sunshine
Never Let Me Go
Enchanted April
Dangerous Liaisons
The Portrait of a Lady
The Aspern Papers

Miramax and the entire art/independent movie movement spent much of the late 1980s and 1990s making Merchant Ivory type films.

The Remains of the Day. No idea what it’s about, but I love that title.

The Remains of the Day isn't a Merchant Ivory type film, it's a Merchant Ivory film (a very good one).
All of these pretenders, I'm sorry to say, have a distinct lack of Rupert Graves frontal nudity.
