"Lisa Sharkey of Manhattan, whose Jewish relatives died during World War II, reached out to both the manufacturer and the store that carried the product in question: 'If you stay quiet, you can't make a difference in the world'"
Frau Gets Striped Pajamas Pulled From NYC Store Shelves...
by Anonymous | reply 79 | December 17, 2021 9:35 AM |
Someone commit this woman to a mental institution.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | December 14, 2021 5:35 PM |
Did she sue them for playing Christmas music too?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 14, 2021 5:36 PM |
Yet another whiny twerp who expects to go through life never being offended by anything, ever. If the fabric used for off-the-rack PJs is "triggering" to you? You might want to reconsider your place in the grand scheme of things.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 14, 2021 5:41 PM |
I worked with this woman in a project and I'm half Jewish and though I get where she's coming from, this is still absurd. This surprises me, this woman is zen and into yoga, I thought she would be more chill.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 14, 2021 5:43 PM |
There are lots of absurd things people do, but this kinda feels like the complaint has some merit. Not a wise thing to do.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 14, 2021 5:46 PM |
"Oy, and so overpriced!"
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 14, 2021 5:46 PM |
What merits? That stripped pajamas exist? This is stupid.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 14, 2021 5:47 PM |
Sorry, but horizontal stripes aren't slimming.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 14, 2021 5:47 PM |
I'm with her. I think of the same thing when I see striped pajamas. And these with the yellow and black tags? Double oy gevalt!
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 14, 2021 5:48 PM |
Every mouthful is poison, r6...and such small portions!
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 14, 2021 5:48 PM |
Ridiculous.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 14, 2021 5:49 PM |
When is this going to stop? It's gone past Orwellian. I don't blame the whackjobs perpetuating it, I blame all the kneejerk, insane corporations, media companies and others who respond to it. They finally started to ignore the right wing Christian moms who kept trying to get things pulled from TV and such. So, when's it gonna be time for the new wave of those types? This kind of thing goes hand-in-hand with the creepy level of cancel culture that's gone over the edge also. It's like a runaway train.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 14, 2021 5:49 PM |
I think it was the yellow six-pointed star price tag that put her over the edge.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 14, 2021 5:49 PM |
Why is it always a woman?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 14, 2021 5:50 PM |
To quote the great Addison DeWitt ‘you have a point. An idiotic one but a point.’
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 14, 2021 5:52 PM |
I kind of like them. They remind me of old-timey convict uniforms or Beetlejuice.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 14, 2021 5:53 PM |
I worked at a high end mens store in NYC years ago and we sold virtually the same pjs in silk for a couple of hundred. Nobody made a fuss about them and they sold well.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 14, 2021 6:01 PM |
Why is it always Fox "News," r14?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 14, 2021 6:05 PM |
To R15. Your post made me laugh out loud in a Zoom Meeting for work. A cat once found me on the beach in San Diego over 20 yrs ago. A long lean black cat with brown undertones& a little white mustache. I named him Addison DeWitt, very opinionated, worked his tail to make a point& always got what he wanted.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 14, 2021 6:10 PM |
Fox News culture wars faux outrage bullshit? On MY Datalounge?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 14, 2021 6:11 PM |
Striped PJ's have been around for an awfully long time. Like before Hitler existed.
And there are plenty of vendors now of stripped PJ's.
Why the distinction now, when it was not made back in 1945?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 14, 2021 6:23 PM |
I can't find a single iteration of current or vintage "stripped PJ's" that look like concentration camp uniforms, r23. Are you saying there are plenty that do?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 14, 2021 6:29 PM |
[quote] I get where she's coming from,
I do, too, and I definitely wouldn’t buy them.
[quote] this is still absurd
But, yeah, I have to agree.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 14, 2021 6:35 PM |
OP said "frau." In a post about insensitivity to antisemitism, lol.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 14, 2021 6:44 PM |
What's shocking is that the manufacturer and the store didn't tell her to go fuck herself and after that to make an appointment with a shrink. This creature is suffering from multiple personality disorders. She's feeding her own sicknesses and making the rest of us an uninterested and unwilling audience.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 14, 2021 6:52 PM |
She obviously doesn't have a problem with every kind of striped pajama or with red striped PJs, and she's not mad because any and every kind of "stripped" pajama exists, but you pretend otherwise because the goal is to make someone -- in this case, a Jewish woman -- look ridiculous and absurd, and hold her up as being "what's wrong with the world today."
That's because the whole point of these stories is to create an us vs. them divide. It's culture wars and a lot of you are either rightwingers who love it or stupids who fall for it.
I'm shocked no one has said "this is why we'll lose Congress in 2022" yet.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 14, 2021 6:55 PM |
I thought the stripes were just a prison-in-general look.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 14, 2021 6:55 PM |
It is inappropriate to call Ms. Sharkey a Frau.
And it was over the line to make a joke or ironic statement with prison-garb pajamas, which was being done with intention.
Plus they are ugly and they are not fucking silk.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 14, 2021 7:01 PM |
Prison stripes were usually horizontal, r30.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 14, 2021 7:04 PM |
Look at this woman’s picture… a fluorescent turquoise animal print striped top, paired with a leather jacket covered in embroidered hearts, mirrored gas station sunglasses, peroxide yellowed hair, a yellow gold chain, bright red lipstick, powdery-leathered skin, and a Brighton belt… she’s obviously in a crisis.
I’m just frustrated more everyday that fucking lunatics are taking up so much of everyone’s time. It appears this was done for attention and to parallel herself to a minority group. This is not about the Holocaust, this is about Lisa.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 14, 2021 7:18 PM |
R24, there was no distinction by FoxNews as to what kind of stripes.
It said "striped pajamas" implying ALL striped pajamas.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | December 14, 2021 7:24 PM |
Red ball caps remind me of people that are stupid and mean. Does that mean nobody can wear a red ball cap from now on?
by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 14, 2021 7:29 PM |
Tried everything to post images of people wearing pajamas with black stripes.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | December 14, 2021 7:39 PM |
[quote]Tried everything to post images of people wearing pajamas with black stripes.
Obviously you didn't.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | December 14, 2021 7:42 PM |
R38, the shoes!
by Anonymous | reply 39 | December 14, 2021 7:50 PM |
Why aren't crazy people ever told to fuck off anymore?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | December 14, 2021 8:35 PM |
If she's offended, don't buy them. Doubtful anyone who purchased them were thinking how lovely concentration camp attire was back in the day.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | December 14, 2021 8:49 PM |
So don't buy the fucking pajamas!!!! When is this childish offense and cancellation bullshit going to end. When will corporations, stores and the like just say. "So sorry, but NO!"
by Anonymous | reply 42 | December 14, 2021 8:58 PM |
LOL R32, love the little caps.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | December 14, 2021 9:17 PM |
Three stripes and you're out.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | December 14, 2021 9:17 PM |
Good for her. Striped pajamas are ugly as sin.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | December 14, 2021 9:21 PM |
She needs to be institutionalized.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | December 14, 2021 9:23 PM |
Those striped pajamas are a gas!
I'd ride in a crowded boxcar for days just to have a pair!
by Anonymous | reply 48 | December 14, 2021 9:28 PM |
As western society becomes more inclusive, people have less to be offended about, and turn to being offended over pajamas and nonsense like this.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | December 14, 2021 9:37 PM |
Sharkey's own fashion sense consists of tight day-glo animal prints--and leather jackets, which involves the horrific slaughter of cows with big eyes.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | December 14, 2021 9:39 PM |
Still on sale if you know where to look...
For those so inclined, knock yourself out.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | December 14, 2021 9:54 PM |
I hope Prince Harry got his before they were pulled.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | December 14, 2021 9:56 PM |
Sleepy Jones is *NOT* going to destroy totally new product that has no defects. That lot from Nordstrom and other inventory will end up for sale somewhere.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | December 14, 2021 9:58 PM |
Cleary Lisa Sharkey circulates in unfashionable Manhattan, NY circles. Otherwise she'd know stripes are "in".
by Anonymous | reply 58 | December 14, 2021 10:08 PM |
Those pajamas are shocking. They look exactly like the Holocaust fashions.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | December 14, 2021 10:35 PM |
They're the Final Solution, R59...in chic loungewear!
by Anonymous | reply 60 | December 14, 2021 10:38 PM |
It's a good thing she didn't see the lampshades from the Ilse Koch Collection in the next aisle!
by Anonymous | reply 61 | December 14, 2021 10:41 PM |
When I was a boy, I had a Jewish friend who couldn't sleep on striped sheets. They gave him nightmares about being trapped.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | December 14, 2021 10:42 PM |
I want to be friends with r34. I really do, I’d love it.
(I just don’t want him to do what I’M wearing!)
by Anonymous | reply 63 | December 14, 2021 10:44 PM |
[quote] we sold virtually the same pjs in silk for a couple of hundred.
Dayum! High end indeed. A “couple” hundred? For pajamas? Holy cow!
I wanna be rich, dammit.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | December 14, 2021 10:45 PM |
[quote] Doubtful anyone who purchased them were thinking
Oh, dear!
by Anonymous | reply 65 | December 14, 2021 10:45 PM |
[quote] "striped pajamas"
I was a candy stripper once.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | December 14, 2021 10:46 PM |
[quote]Dayum! High end indeed. A “couple” hundred? For pajamas? Holy cow!
You don't want to know about the price of the silk socks and underwear we sold.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | December 14, 2021 10:47 PM |
You’re right. I get my unnerbritches down there at the Walmart. They just as good and high end, too.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | December 14, 2021 10:49 PM |
So do I r68.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | December 14, 2021 11:01 PM |
I know Datalounge isn’t fond of Jews but this is silly.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | December 14, 2021 11:14 PM |
Do brown shirts next, idiot.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | December 14, 2021 11:15 PM |
Good, I’m glad!
I don’t look good in stripes.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | December 14, 2021 11:37 PM |
r65 should be gassed
by Anonymous | reply 73 | December 15, 2021 2:11 AM |
[quote]I know Datalounge isn’t fond of Jews but this is silly.
What do you mean by "this"?
by Anonymous | reply 74 | December 15, 2021 1:05 PM |
Jewish women are often annoying. Whine whine whine whine whine.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | December 15, 2021 1:14 PM |
This reminds me of the Henny Youngman joke: Why do Jewish men die before their wives? They want to.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | December 16, 2021 4:57 PM |
We need to ban all white sheets from Planet Earth, as they are symbols of the KKK.
I'd do it myself, but I'm too exhausted.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | December 17, 2021 1:34 AM |
[quote]We need to ban all white sheets from Planet Earth, as they are symbols of the KKK.
Not unless you happen to be wearing them.
