Has Glenn Greenwald officially lost the last of his marbles?

The check from his Russian overlords didn't clear? Ran out of Brazilian twinks to molest?

He crossed the line a long time ago from a healthy skepticism of established power structures to the MAGA mindset, which is:

1) Professional victim; no matter how big the platform, they rarely to never take responsibility for themselves; blames others for problems

2) Does and says things primarily to "stick it to the libs" or "trigger snowflakes";

3) Wildly hyperbolic;

4) Uses Russian "Whataboutism" fallacy as a standard go to (when they aren't using ad hominem attacks, that is);

5) "Us vs. them" binary mentality, whoever "them" is; lack of nuance in the extreme;

6) Doubles or triples-down when caught in an error or bad judgement, rather than admitting fault

Oh and the MAGA mindset is not just the right wing, there are also left wingers (such as Seth Abramson) who typify it, with some modification to #2.

Greenwald has a lot of faults but I still read him from time to time. Even though he goes way over the top in some regards, particularly in his " both sides are just as bad" mentality. But he still has some spot on criticism of the lock and step corporate American media and America's insane militarism.

by Anonymousreply 5December 14, 2021 5:35 AM

He talks like a high school mean girl. Always with the antagonizing and demeaning.

by Anonymousreply 6December 14, 2021 6:05 AM

Glenn Greenwald is the Armond White of political punditry. He lives off of being a contrarian asshole because he knows it will get a rise out of most people while he gains more notoriety. It's part of his shtick.

by Anonymousreply 7December 14, 2021 6:11 AM

He’s so 90s with it all.

by Anonymousreply 8December 14, 2021 6:12 AM

No worries. He cannot lose anything that he never had--- marbles, brains, common sense, testicles, empathy, honesty.... I am sure the list still has room for expansion.

by Anonymousreply 9December 14, 2021 6:19 AM

There's always been something I don't trust about him...

by Anonymousreply 10December 14, 2021 10:22 AM

R5 see, he used to imply that "both sides are equally bad" but focuses 99% of his criticisms and attacks exclusively on the left. Up to the point of defending the right wing, or turning criticism of the right wing into an attack on the left wing.

He reminds me of a jilted lover - someone who wanted so badly to be part of the "in" crowd, figured out he was never going to be fully accepted, and decided to destroy his ex's life any way he can. There is a lot of money to be made in grievance politics, apparently.

He's gone way, way out of his way to try to disprove the Russia Dossier, because it ties back to Snowden and makes him look bad. Confirmation bias in the extreme - he pounces on any little issue with a data point from the dossier and completely ignores the many other things that don't support his initial assertion that it's all an attack from the Dems.

And he keeps getting worse and worse. Him quitting the Intercept - which he helped build - in a huge dramatic huff and trying to bomb them and damage them on the way out, is very similar to the same behavior from him in regards to the left wing.

He's fully ensconced in his own bubble now, making lots of money from his Substack, and will likely continue getting worse and worse.

Lol at r2.

It's funny because it's true

Also it's cool to see Hassan making the crypto bros (who love Glenn) choose sides.

R2,

by Anonymousreply 13December 14, 2021 11:25 PM

I've stopped trying to figure out why this asshole acts the way he does, but he really needs to get a grip on whatever it is that compels a 54-year-old man to type shit like what's seen at R2 on Twitter, all day, every day. He's the only person I actually have muted on that godforsaken site.

And yeah, there's no "both sides" with this guy. When 90% of your opinions line up with Tucker Carlson and he's the only person that can stand to have you on his show, that's what you are.
