Is it the greatest Christmas song ever?
I wonder if that handsome young gentlemen who sings will ever be able to find the right girl.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | December 11, 2021 1:52 PM |
He runs like a girl at 2:58.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 11, 2021 1:54 PM |
It’s my favorite Xmas song of all time. ❤️
I also love this new song too
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 11, 2021 1:55 PM |
My favorite.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 11, 2021 1:57 PM |
R3 has Elton hit 500 lbs yet?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 11, 2021 2:01 PM |
I wonder what ever happened to that guy who sang this. I hope he was able to find the right girl and settle down.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 11, 2021 2:34 PM |
No!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 11, 2021 2:51 PM |
He was too gay for his own good.

I wish he was still alive. Goerge Michale Blowbunkt.
I would have treated him as a boy needs to be helped/

I love the brooch he wears in the video!
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 13, 2021 8:21 AM |
He and princess di had the same hairstyle. George was prettier.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 13, 2021 11:16 AM |
Time traveling. What a period piece!
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 13, 2021 11:39 AM |
It is a great song, I always listen when I hear it.

Don't be silly.

OP, you're just trying to issue as many Whamageddon eliminations as possible, aren't you?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 13, 2021 11:52 AM |
The Day-Glo eighties shorts were amazing.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 13, 2021 12:03 PM |
The lyrics definity refer to a gay relationship:
A face on a lover with a fire in his heart A man under cover but you tore me apart Ooh, ooh, now I've found a real love You'll never fool me again
The lyrics that hit me the hardest and truest: Yes, my last boyfriend broke up with me in early December.
My God, I thought you were someone to rely on Me? I guess I was a shoulder to cry on
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 13, 2021 12:59 PM |
No one should EVER attempt to cover this song. Exhibit A.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 13, 2021 1:40 PM |
R13 - I thought I was the only one who noticed that George spent the better part of the 1980's trying to emulate her hairstyle and smile and flirtatious glance. The only thing standing in his way was his Mediterranean swarthinessbut hey...for some of us...the harier the better.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 13, 2021 2:22 PM |
When George Michael sings "The very next day, you tore it apart" do you think he is talking about his ass?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 13, 2021 7:33 PM |
Um, he never sings that. He says "a man undercover but you tore me apart".
That being said, I always thought the chorus should have a second part instead of just repeating the first and instead of "the very next day you gave it away" line, he would've said the very next day, you tore it apart and then two more new lines.

It’s the perfect pop original Christmas song. Mariah’s is good although I get sick of it quickly. I have heard some by Kelly Clarkson, Faith Hill and I don’t know who else that are absolute dreck.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 13, 2021 9:58 PM |
Whys Elton John recording with so many young artists. No no don't tell me

by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 13, 2021 10:09 PM |
This is a terrible song.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 13, 2021 10:10 PM |
I also noticed the way George tried to emulate princess Diana with both the hair and ‘shy Di’ glances at the camera.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 13, 2021 10:11 PM |
personally, i think "last christmas" and "merry christmas darling" are the ONLY 2 moden day christmas classics..
and if i have to hear that damn all i want for christmas is you by dog whistle carey ever again my lifetime, it will be too soon!
and that goes for anything christmas, grumpy harsh sounding gravely sinatra sings as well!
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 13, 2021 10:25 PM |
I don't get the hate for All I Want for Christmas Is You. It's a great Phil Spector throwback. No matter how many times it gets played in December, you've probably still heard Every Breath You Take or Like A Virgin more times on the radio.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 13, 2021 10:32 PM |
George already had a woman in his life--his mother.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 13, 2021 10:36 PM |
This one isn't bad either, kinda jolly festive.

No, the greatest christmas song ever is Fairytale of New York.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | December 13, 2021 10:46 PM |
Agree with R35....
But I love this song. George Michael was a very talented vocalist who was seen as a joke / cheesy (he kind of was, but still) for most of his career.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 13, 2021 10:56 PM |
I love the song, but it is not actually very Christmasy. All I want for Christmas is more festive, though it has been played to death.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | December 13, 2021 10:56 PM |
It’s too bad that he was seen that way, r36, because he was so talented. He became a caricature. His career and image would’ve been much different if he would’ve stayed away from the drugs, got some therapy, and released the kind of music he was capable of making.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | December 14, 2021 12:53 AM |
[quote] No, the greatest christmas song ever is Fairytale of New York.
Well there's a big fucking surprise. Everything on DL leads back to New York.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | December 14, 2021 12:54 AM |
Listen Without Prejudice, Older, and Patience are all great, non-cheesy albums. It's really only the Wham stuff and, arguably, Faith that are cheesy.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | December 14, 2021 2:21 AM |
Why was this group called Wham! ???
by Anonymous | reply 41 | December 15, 2021 1:58 AM |
R41, because Right Said Fred was already taken.

by Anonymous | reply 47 | December 15, 2021 3:23 PM |
My friend Laura said George is so gay...she said "somethings you just know."
by Anonymous | reply 49 | December 15, 2021 3:26 PM |
Laura was a fuckin' poet.

The very next year you tore it apart.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | December 18, 2021 9:32 AM |
I like this music video.
However, this man, George Michael. He seems to know a lot of gay men. I am glad he is not gay.

A perfect hung young man.
Last Christmas, you tore my ass us.

Awful song done in his whiny whisper-coo voice.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | December 18, 2021 10:24 AM |
“It’s Christmas time for you and I”
Oh vey!
by Anonymous | reply 59 | December 18, 2021 11:12 AM |
This and Mariah Carey have to be the most played Christmas songs now. You can’t listen to Christmas music on the radio without one or the other coming on every half hour.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | December 18, 2021 12:32 PM |
George was a class act. He included Andrew Ridgley's name in the writing credits so he'd get royalties even though he didn't actually write anything.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | December 18, 2021 2:21 PM |
If Wham continued, do you think George would have had a better life?
by Anonymous | reply 62 | December 18, 2021 2:30 PM |
I wonder to whom she gave away his heart the very next day.

Darren Hayes from Savage Garden on Rosie's Charity Xmas Album
by Anonymous | reply 65 | December 20, 2021 1:29 AM |
And this should be as much hit as Mariah:s.. Rosie and Trisha Yearwood.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | December 20, 2021 1:36 AM |
I wasn’t a fan of the music particularly, but George always seemed like a really nice man. There were so many stories of his kindness and generosity which came out after he died. He also had a sense of humour about himself which many performers of his stature lack.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | December 20, 2021 1:42 AM |
So who inherited the rights to the songs he wrote? Elton?

I know R25 disagrees, but I still hear him singing about losing his virginity to a hot Swedish boy in this song.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | December 21, 2021 1:20 AM |
His ass looks amazing at 1:13. Then, some bull dyke lesbian steps in front of the camera, pretending to set the table.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | December 21, 2021 1:21 AM |
I heard on the internet that everytime this song plays, his boyfriend, Dodi Fayed earns another million.

I love it now but when I was younger I wasn’t cool to like it because of George’s GayVoice.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | December 27, 2021 3:54 PM |
My nephew, who is about 13, says that when this song comes on, all the girls at his school love it so much they start singing! So, George has fans of a whole new generation of teens for this song!
