West Side Story Actress DEAD

The actress that ad libbed "I know you do" in response to Rita Moreno in the AMERICA number has died at the age of 84

by Anonymousreply 20December 15, 2021 12:42 AM

Well that’ll teach her to ad lib!

by Anonymousreply 1December 11, 2021 3:47 AM

It was that fucking Rita! She did it.

I hear she was watching the remake and thought it was so long and would never end that she willed her heart to stop beating.

This is as big as when Princess Diana died!

Do you suppose the chubby gay man in Iowa is shrieking "NOOOO!" at the news even as I type?

First Sondheim, now her. Speilberg wants to erase all memory of the original. Watch your back Richard Beymer.

Who is going to be next!

She was the redhead in the red dress in America (1961). She was an excellent dancer...one of the better ones in the troupe, outside of Moreno.

So young. Simply tragic!

This is an excellent documentary on the making of the film. She is featured in it.

That’s the best line in the movie!

by Anonymousreply 10December 14, 2021 11:05 PM

Aren't most of the principals in that movie still alive?

by Anonymousreply 11December 14, 2021 11:10 PM

Yes. All of them except Natalie and Ned Glass,

Yvonne Wilder also played "Dr. Bradshaw" in the Very Special Episode of "One Day at a Time" in which Ann has a heart attack. Yvonne later recalled that between takes Bonnie Franklin said she wanted to slap her, and Yvonne replied by ad-libbing "I know you do!"

RIP

Oh her! (watched ODAT clip) She was a tv staple and in everything! RIP

by Anonymousreply 14December 14, 2021 11:52 PM

I remember her from Mary Tyler Moore and she was just on this past weekend's episode on Mama's Family (METV). She was Thelma's cell mate.

Jesus, those Clintons are ruthless.

She was also on Archie Bunker's Place, playing the woman that Archie falls in love with post Edith.

I think her character was the one Carroll wanted to marry in the series finale that never happened.

I am reminded of this amusing meme.

She was good, but couldn’t hold a candle to Cha-Cha DiGregorio, the best dancer at St Bernadette’s.

She reminds me of "Foul Play's" Marilyn Sokol, who also seemed to be in everything...
