The actress on tuning out the media madness ("Am I still having twins?"), the gut punch of the 'Friends' reunion and her journey to "own who I am, where I am and just how long I’ve f***ing been here."
It’s somewhat incredible she expects us to feel sorry for her (describing the difficult time she had at the end of “Friends.”)

Doesn't she just sell lotion now?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 8, 2021 6:08 PM |
God, she's boring.
That's PR spew right there. Most people have regrets. It is part of living life. A few regrets are healthy and can shape your personality. You need to have one first though, so I could see that being an issue here.

As Frances Faye said: "I think when you're pretty it doesn't matter how you wear your hair."
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 8, 2021 6:27 PM |
I read a Vanity Fair profile about her in the late nineties or early aughts (pre Angie) and while she did seem "nice," she was painfully self absorbed and whiny. Haven't read this, but it sounds like not much has changed. I'll r we the article later.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 8, 2021 7:17 PM |
She's a middling actress who has a great publicist.
She's been on the cover of the tabloids for a decade with stories like, "Is she pregnant?" and "Are Aniston and Pitt back together?"--all planted by her publicist.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 8, 2021 7:50 PM |
This all feels soooo painfully orchestrated by PR to look/feel "spontaneous." Cause unpretentious, accessible, spontaneous and real.... that's Jen's brand, people!
I can't help but think this was done, in part, to deflect the disaster of THE MORNING SHOW, particularly Season 2, which did not put Jen and her talent in a good or flattering light (even after an Emmy nom for S1). Note how she mentions how busy and booked she is for the next couple of years in the interview, with no mention of even a possible S3 of TMS. Huh.
I like Aniston, but she is a lightweight, breezy talent with a unique flair for charming the press and the public for almost 3 decades now. Not a serious actor.

She has the best PR people I have ever seen. She's done basically nothing of significance since Friends ended in 2004, but she's still relevant and a generational and cultural icon.

I wish they'd mention who the stylist was so we can shoot them out of a cannon into the sun.
I like Jennifer Aniston, and think people have to dig deep to find something to dislike about her aside from her blandness. She's not amazing but she's not awful, she's fine. I liked her in the Nicole Holofcener movie.

She really loves attention. Has she ever gone away at all? She's in the tabloids all the time and she's not interesting as a person or as an actress. Courteney Cox at least has some movies like Ace Ventura, Scream and that show Cougar Town. Lisa Kudrow is actually quite funny too. Jennifer Aniston is lucky for Friends because she is so many flop TV shows and movies prior. She seems like a shallow person who can't live without the spotlight.

I still really don't understand the massive popularity of Friends till this day. At best it should had 4 to 5 years standard for its type but nope ended up with 10 years. I don't get how such unlikable and annoying protagonists and unfunny jokes made an iconic TV show. But I guess it shows comedy is subjective.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 9, 2021 1:15 AM |
R32 I've always felt the humor was too simple and juvenile. The characters are supposed to be adults but act like a group of shallow, dimwitted teenagers. Joey and Phoebe were the only characters I found amusing and even they got old.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 9, 2021 1:38 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 9, 2021 1:44 AM |
Yes, you've made it very clear what you feel is wrong with the show in your opinion, r35. What I don't understand is why you watched it.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | December 9, 2021 1:45 AM |
R37 Because it was always on TV and popular. So I tried to give it a shot multiple times because I'm open-minded. Never made me laugh. Please get over your feelings. A lot of people don't find Friends funny including many of my friends. To me personally, it's just a bunch of dumb, privileged adults acting like annoying kids in arrested development. They are shallow and vapid characters not interesting in the slightest. I find the acting to be pretty bad and the jokes are just unfunny to me. It lacks the satirical edge of Seinfeld, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Peep Show which I find a million times more interesting.

R36 Yep. I love 70s sitcoms. All in the Family, What's Happening, Good Times, MASH, etc. All better than Friends.
R40 Well. It's true. Maybe because I'm a dude and the only people I know who like Friends are women. It's like an aspirational fantasy and they can insert themselves into Jennifer Aniston's poor little rich girl character.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | December 9, 2021 1:54 AM |
R39 Basically. Aniston had no promise after Friends ended after as an actress due to her lack of charisma and talent. Her relationship with Pitt kept her in the public eye far longer than she deserved. Angelina Jolie had charisma and star power and a real personality. Hooking with Pitt did Jolie no favors honestly, she crashed and burned.

ANY episode of The Love Boat was better than Friends- especially the episode where Captain Stubing sniffs the strippers pants.

Aniston is an all right girl. Leave her alone. Yes, she’s “boring” but she’s also just a laid-back pothead. She’s not some demon.
Friends is definitely a show that people who were younger than me were into. Seinfeld was vastly superior. I don’t understand how Friends could ever be considered “iconic” — it was just a lightweight sitcom that appealed to basic people.

No complaints. And no regrets. I still believe in chasing dreams and placing bets.
But I have learned that all you give is all you get so give it all you've got...I had my share. I drank my fill. And even though I'm satisfied, I'm hungry still. To see what's down another road beyond the hill and do it all again.
So here's to LIfe....and every joy it brings. So, here's to life...To dreamers and their dreams...
Funny how the time just flies; how love can go from warm hellos to sad goodbyes and leave you with the memories you've memorized
To keep your winters warm. For there's no 'yes' in yesterday and who knows what tomorrow brings or takes away
As long as I'm in the game I want to play for laughs for life for love. So here's to life. And every joy it brings. Here's to life...the dreamers and their dreams. May all your storms be weathered. and all that's good get better.
Here's to life.
Here's to love.
Here's to you....

I love Jennifer Aniston. I think she's fun.
Please with the "remnants of Rachel" nonsense! As IF Katharine Hepburn did anything new between "Bringing Up Baby" and "Long Day's Journey Into Night"!
I enjoyed the article. "Self-involved"? What the fuck else are you supposed to talk about when a big, celebrity glossy magazine comes calling? The economy? I thought Jen came across as grateful and appreciative of her gifts and limitations. I'm older than most of you Millennials and Gen Z grim whiners, and yet I manage not to be so toxic as all of you looking back to a 1994 sitcom to tell everyone who had fun watching it that we are the problem. Get a life you hilarious haters!!
by Anonymous | reply 61 | December 9, 2021 7:34 AM |
I'm sure she's nice as a person. But my issue is she's such an attention whore yet acts humble and innocent. For being so down-to-earth she seems hellbent on proving it over and over with interviews. That fake humility gets tiring and nobody seems to be buying this except the aging Gen X fangirls who come here to shit on Jolie.

Everyone loves her.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | December 9, 2021 6:41 PM |
I love Jennifer and she's done very well for herself, keeping relevant and in projects since Friends ended. More than her other co-stars. She looks great, she's 52 and not trying to act otherwise. Everyone else hating on her is delusional.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | December 9, 2021 7:11 PM |
She's rich and has no kids, despite constant speculation on her uterus. She smokes pot and seems to have good lasting friendships. She should be a DL icon.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | December 9, 2021 7:13 PM |
I'd rather DL icons be actual gay men and lesbians. Jennifer Aniston grew up rich with a father in Hollywood, her connections and marketable bland image is a big reason why she's still around. But I don't find anything about her to be inspirational. She never worked hard at anything really nor tried to challenge herself. She's content with her privileged carefree life but was intelligent enough to take opportunities. Basically idle rich. Being a polite person who values friendships probably means she was raised with good role models. I think that should be the norm not an exception. I give her kudos though but she is not iconic in anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | December 10, 2021 1:11 AM |
R66, since WHEN are “actual gay men and lesbians” ever ICONS to gay people??
by Anonymous | reply 67 | December 10, 2021 1:18 AM |
When are you carp about is someone's privilege because they don't live in a trailer home and had a father who had a job on a soap, I imagine your argument is a bit thin.

She's tried a few different projects to show her range, such as The Good Girl, Cake, The Morning Show, Horrible Bosses. She was really good in those.
Unfortunately she too often did the romcom crap.

Anniston has worked as an actress continuously since 1993. I'm certain she takes vacations like everyone else, but not sure why you're pretending she hasn't worked more than 90% of actresses over the past twenty-eight years. That's bizarre.

R72 she was really outstanding in "The Good Girl". It's a small movie but very interesting character study. Plus I like she went unglamorous at the height of her beauty and wife of Brad Pitt.
She was also really good in "Life Of Crime", "She's Funny That Way" and "Office Space" where she's nothing like Rachel

I remember an interview with her waaaay back when she was just getting famous from friends. She was dating Tate Donavan (spelling?) at the time. She was incredibly charming funny and down to earth in the article. She lost all of that when she became [italic]Jennifer Anniston.[/italic] I was surprised by how ambitious she ended up being. R78 I don't doubt she's ambitious but she clearly isn't that ambitious as she's never really chased the hot scripts, even though she could.
If "Gone Girl" had been made sooner she would have been the ideal Amy, subverting her "America's Sweetheart" image.
I also think she would have been great in "Wild" as the woman on the verge walking through the wilderness or in Big Little Lies.
