RUDY GALINDO - Ice Skater
Hey Guys, I know we have some ice skating fans on DL. Rudy is gay and out. His dad supported both Rudy and Rudy's sister in their ice skating dreams. (Sister later became Rudy's coach.) Money was tight and, at some point, Rudy & family lived in a trailer (San Jose CA, I think). Rudy pair skated with Kristy Yamaguchi for a while. Rudy's dad and brother died. Two of Rudy's coaches died, one from AIDS, I think.
Anyway, I hope we can discuss and appreciate Rudy. I love his voice, how he talks. I think this 1996 US Figure Skating Championship (in San Jose CA) is considered the best or one of the best of his performances.

Didn't his sister coach him?

Rudy was fantastic. A true out gay man unlike cowards Johnny and Adam who never came out while still competing, and don't get me started on Evan.

Too bad he was so unattractive.

I loved his name as a kid when I used to watch skating, it seemed to fit his personality and skating style!

He gave Alexei Yagudin a handjob when they were touring.

He always reminds me of Andreas Voutsinas as Carmen Ghia in the 1967 films "The Producers."

I knew he had gay face as an early teen -- before I even knew "gay face" was a thing

We really wanted to cast him in "MacBeth on Ice." He is so dramatic with his hand gestures.

r13, I had never thought of it before, but he would be brilliant as a figure-skating Lady Macduff.

His long program at the 1996 US Nationals that OP posted was just brilliant. Too bad we no longer get programs like that anymore. I remember the judges kind of hosed him in the short program and Brian Boitano asked Dick Button (or maybe it was the other way around) that it looked like they took a deduction for something and they both said they didn't see any deductions. But the judges got it right. Rudy went on to get the bronze at the Worlds that year then retired.

I thought he was handsome when young and not bad now, as R16 says.

Did he sleep with Ilia Kulik?

R2, I like Galindo and saw him live on Champions on Ice once, in 2007. He’s a coach now. But to be fair to Weir and Rippon, both of them came out while still competing. Rippon came out in 2015; he was National Champion in 2016. Weir came out in 2011 and was still competing until 2013, when he came in 4th at Nationals. He had hoped to compete in Sochi but didn’t make it.

Saw him out and about in San Jose during and after he became well known. Sweet guy, no ego. And sexy as hell!

His win at the 1996 national championships out of nowhere was one of the most special moments I've ever witnessed. A true no-name has-been coming out and trouncing the eventual world championship. I was 11 years old at the time, and it's still a very fond memory.
R19, Kulik is straight, but there are rumors about Galindo and Alexei Yagudin, that's probably who you're thinking of.

I believe he started as a pairs skater with Kristi Yamaguchi. I can’t remember the details but obviously they split up and went on to great acclaim as singles skaters.

The 1996 Nationals were in San Jose, his hometown, making it even more special.

Wow, OP, how was it to spend 20+ years trapped inside a block of ice?? Should I play you some NSYNC to ease the transition into 2022?

I prefer to admire today's good looking skaters like Nathan Chen, Camden Pulkinen and that little Japanese cutie, Yuzuru Hanyu!

I waited on him once with Tara Lipnski. Very nice and a great tipper. I always regretted not slipping him my number.

I thought the one that sucked Kulik was the same ice dancer who used to blow Marina Sueva's son. Who was the Russian skater that fucked Weir? His book hints who it is but I'm too lazy to read it. Those in the downlow Russian men have the worst taste in men. Why not hire a nice Sean Cody stud and have a nice private evening together? Why sleep with a messy queen that could out you at any minute?
