Is anyone watching this? I really liked the first episode. It’s like a more horrific version of Lost, lots of flashbacks & mystery…and cannibalism! I really like Juliette Lewis in everything she’s in.
Yellowjackets, on Showtime

I figured it would be stupid but I really liked it as well...a little Lord of the Flies and True detective mixed with teenage girls and their adult selves.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | November 16, 2021 5:26 AM |
Great premiere, already hooked.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | November 16, 2021 6:13 AM |
I’m enjoying it thus far.

I plan to. Was the first episode gory?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | November 16, 2021 10:39 AM |
I gave it a shot and really liked it. The important part is that the young girls were not annoying like most teens are in shows these days.

Christina Ricci and Juliette Lewis as cannibalistic cheerleaders? What’s not to like?

(r6) New episodes are Sunday on Showtime. Hulu has a deal where you can add Showtime for $3.99 a month for 4 months before the price goes up so that's one way to access.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | November 21, 2021 2:17 PM |
Fuck, I hate Juliette Lewis. Such an annoying chick. And that whole rock-star thing? Ugh.
The girl that plays young Juliette is really pretty. And has a great taste in music and movies, judging by her Insta.
If this was a real female soccer team, half of them would be gay and dating each other.
The 90's scenes don't really look 90's, despite all the 90's rock songs that are playing in the background every five minutes.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | November 22, 2021 5:34 PM |
Juliette Lewis should be in this thread as well.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | November 22, 2021 5:47 PM |
Juliette Lewis always seems a little demented. Is she cray cray IRL?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | November 22, 2021 6:33 PM |

They have a good music department. Love the Elliott Smith and Nirvana.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | November 23, 2021 10:53 PM |
I guess Jackie (Shauna's best friend) doesn't make it out of the wilderness since there's no actress portraying the adult version of her, or did I miss something? Who was running at the beginning of Ep1 and ultimately fell to her death?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | November 23, 2021 11:30 PM |
R20 They didn't play any Nirvana. Did they play Elliot Smith?

It was driving me crazy who the actress playing Van (the one who got burned on the plane) is. I looked it up. She was the daughter on Santa Clarita Diet. She's good.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | November 24, 2021 2:46 AM |

They need to pick up the pace.

Nothing like feeding rabbit to your unwitting family.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | November 24, 2021 3:38 AM |
I loved the first episode and much of the second. I guess my problem is that the wilderness scenes and the scenes where the present day adults reflect on the past are way, way more interesting than their current problems. I was so bored with the cliche problems in Melanie Lynskey’s family and some rough trade she met in a fender bender. My attention wanders and I miss when something interesting happens.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | November 24, 2021 6:41 AM |
R22, I was thinking of another show. Pardon.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | November 24, 2021 6:49 AM |
Melanie Lynskey was the other Heavenly Creature with Kate Winslet, and was in But I'm A Cheerleader, as one of the lesbians getting converted.

Who is that little hot piece playing Melanie Lynskey’s husband?

They played Hole. It was Miss World
by Anonymous | reply 38 | November 27, 2021 10:37 AM |
^ Hole isn't Nirvana.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | November 27, 2021 10:40 AM |
I love it so far. Juliette Lewis is EVERYTHING. Dark, brooding, intense as FUCK. She's just one of those actors that's fascinating to watch. I'm a fan of Melanie Lynskey, but I don't give a shit about broken marriage storylines--so that's a FF.
They probably used Hole over Nirvana because the 90s riot grllll aesthetic blah blah blah
by Anonymous | reply 40 | November 27, 2021 10:46 AM |
That's bs. They also had Smashing Pumpkins.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | November 27, 2021 11:00 AM |
R41 So? What does THAT have to do with anything?
by Anonymous | reply 42 | November 27, 2021 11:20 AM |
R42 "They probably used Hole over Nirvana because the 90s riot grllll aesthetic blah blah blah"
Why wouldn't they used a Nirvana song then? Smashing Pumpkins weren't a riot grrrl band either. It's not like they could only use either Hole or a Nirvana song. Not both.
Plus Nirvana was a lot closer to Olympia, WA riot grrrl bands than Hole were. Literally, since they lived there and dated Bikini Kill girls, musically and idealogicly. Courtney hated those bands. And Kurt Cobain was way bigger feminist than she ever was.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | November 27, 2021 5:23 PM |

"Coach Scott" was GORGEOUS will we see more of him?
The girl actresses are well matched to their grown up actresses.
The BODY on "Teen Jeff" (actor is Jack DePew and at 29 way too old for this, of course).
by Anonymous | reply 45 | November 27, 2021 9:57 PM |
Juliette Lewis is a gem of a woman IRL. Not "cray cray" in the slightest and wholly her own person. Humble, a bit strange, charismatic and steeped in old glamor and Hollywood stories from the late 80's, 90's and beyond. She's one of those people everyone wants at the dinner party.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | November 27, 2021 11:22 PM |
It’s pretty good.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | November 28, 2021 12:49 AM |
It's very entertaining. Although I don't think Melanie Lynskey would have such hunky muscular husband.

R48, no kidding. She’s got access to that AND the hot mechanic dude?
by Anonymous | reply 49 | November 28, 2021 1:39 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 50 | November 28, 2021 4:15 AM |
Juliette Lewis's face looks haggard and fantastic in this show. Christina Ricci playing adult and "ugly" Misty is a stretch. Also Juliette is a number of years older.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | November 28, 2021 4:46 AM |
R46 she does seem cool but i can't fully get on board due to the whole $cio thing.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | November 28, 2021 7:54 AM |
R52 How does she look cool? The whole rock star wannabe thing is so lame and un-cool to me.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | November 28, 2021 9:22 AM |
R48 Well the actress that portrays younger Melanie is quite pretty. They started fooling back then, in highschool.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | November 28, 2021 9:23 AM |
R43 Who gives a fuck about how Love felt about Kathleen Hanna and those other bands? Who cares that they used the Pumpkins?
Those are YOUR reasons. Why is it so difficult for you to comprehend that maybe they decided to use Hole--a popular, primarily FEMALE band from the decade this show is set in--instead of Nirvana? This show is about young women, female empowerment, etc. Everything THAT movement was about and despite Love's selective memory, she capitalized on that image. BIG TIME.
Please get a refill of whatever meds you are out of...

by Anonymous | reply 67 | November 28, 2021 9:26 PM |
The sign is carved on the tree when they arrive. We know in episode 2 the girls descend into savagery but there must be an outside agent who/that is part of what happens. The agent could be human or supernatural. It won't bother me either way.
Teen Sauna is secretly barebacking her BFF's Jackie's longterm boyfriend Jeff. Adult Jeff is now Sauna's husband. There is no adult Jackie - so she dies in the mountain shenanigans.

In the first ep, the girl who fell into the pit was wearing the heart necklace Jackie was wearing in the 90s.

SPOILER for tonight's episode
Shawna is now fat and dumpy, the guy from the car she hit has to be setting her up. Her husband is an ass.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | November 28, 2021 10:08 PM |
Her husband was HAF in HS and remains so. It's compensation because she never got to go to Brown and instead became a flesh eating savage in the woods.
Its too early to trust any character and we already have reasons to distrust most if not all of them.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | November 28, 2021 11:23 PM |
I bet it’s the presumed-dead Jackie behind this new drama. Who will play adult Jackie?
I am really liking this, but is designed to be multiple seasons? I just don’t see how they can sustain it.
I did like the music this episode, even if I don’t really “get” why 80s music was used so much. Vienna by Ultravox at the end, and my favorite Kim Wilde song, Cambodia, when Shauna was tailing her husband. I love that song.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | November 29, 2021 1:17 AM |
R72, I love it, too.
Whoever fell into the pit didn’t survive. How could she have?
I absolutely HATE the flashbacks to the crash site. They give me major anxiety.
Melanie Lynskey’s voice reminds me of Megan Mullally.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | November 29, 2021 1:28 AM |
They ate the girl from the pit, dolls. There is no actress listed for grown up Shauna in IMDB.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | November 29, 2021 1:35 AM |
OOPs - I mean no actress for grown up Jackie. Jackie must be dead in the pit and fire roasted.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | November 29, 2021 1:36 AM |
Why couldn’t they just kill animals in the pungee trap? They had to eat each other?
by Anonymous | reply 76 | November 29, 2021 1:58 AM |
Well Mary, that is a central compelling mystery and why we look forward to watching more episodes. Duh.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | November 29, 2021 2:03 AM |
R66 I spoke too soon. Didn't take long for it to turn into lame supernatural dreck.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | November 29, 2021 8:02 AM |
So they were in the woods for three days but when they were bathing in the lake, all of their armpits were freshly shaved.
And why would cops go to the site where the guy hang himself? How would they know that someone hang themself? So stupid. The first thing they would do is find those fresh tire tracks that match the car of the two women that were in jail just few hours ago, for breaking into this dead guy's home.
P.S. why do American cops always turn the sirens on when going to the crime scene? So that the perpetrator can escape on time? Or they don't do that and it's just a thing in Hollywood movies and shows?
by Anonymous | reply 79 | November 29, 2021 8:11 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 81 | November 29, 2021 11:56 AM |
I think they are going to use every single 90s "alternative" big hit throughout the show.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | November 29, 2021 12:08 PM |
The girl who fell in the pit had long black hair. But I guess if Jackie's hair grew and was dirty that could be her, they were there for 19 months.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | November 29, 2021 11:46 PM |
Am rewatching the first episode and Jackie is wearing a heart necklace and the girl who fell in the pit had on a heart necklace.

I don't think it's Jackie. It could be Lottie?
by Anonymous | reply 85 | November 30, 2021 1:28 AM |
Yes Lottie had long dark hair. Also I kept watching and Jackie gave her heart necklace to Shauna on the plane. But we know Shauna survives.
Can't stand the woman running for Senate (Tai?) her voice is grating, too sexy for the part.

Taissa is obviously in love with Van. Wonder what will happen between them.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | November 30, 2021 8:18 AM |
Jackie is a major character in the flashbacks - I don't think she was the one in the pit. She probably survived somehow and is sending the postcards.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | November 30, 2021 8:26 AM |
R100 There's no actress credited as an adult Jackie.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | November 30, 2021 9:10 AM |
Well adult Jackie would have to be completely offscreen character. There is no "adult Jackie" actress listed in IMDB.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | November 30, 2021 10:11 AM |
I don’t think it’s a legal requirement that every performer is listed on IMDb, especially if the show wants to keep it a surprise.
It’s Jackie.
by Anonymous | reply 103 | November 30, 2021 11:54 AM |
R103 IMDb can't hide the cast of the show just because show creators or a network tells them to hide it. Unless they are hiding it too. Did that ever happen? That the movie or a tv show producers were not listing someone cause they wanted to keep it as a surprise? Never heard of it
by Anonymous | reply 104 | November 30, 2021 12:16 PM |
The tree carving is fresh and there when they arrive in the woods. Someone/something is watching them. This is someone/something is not any of the survivors.
Vanessa's family is haunted by evil AND schizophrenia? Just the one or the other? Wy waste ALL this screen time on the kid who is exterior to the central story.

Supernatural thing is so lame and played out. It's easy to make it supernatural, you don't have to be a good writer. I was hoping this will be something along the lines of them starting some kind of a hiarachy, a tribe which will also include sacrifices and cannibalism.

by Anonymous | reply 119 | December 2, 2021 9:36 AM |
R119 Right? That's a bit disappointing, honestly. "Lost" really ruined the island mystery genre for me. I'm actually annoyed thinking about it. But I like Lewis and Ricci and OF COURSE, I want to see how it plays out, but I think we should ALL maybe prepare for disappointment.
Taissa (both actors) really bug me--especially, the younger one, and I'm kinda tired of supernatural children.

by Anonymous | reply 131 | December 5, 2021 9:52 AM |
Like “Mare of Easttown” (and other good shows), it should only be one season. I think it dilutes the magic when they drag something out. Let it be a fantastic 13 episodes and let it go. Some projects, like “The White Lotus” can return with new characters, but I don’t know how “Yellowjackets” could make these mysteries last. And, personally, I don’t care for the “Lord of the Flies” part of the show. I like the 2021 part a lot more.

The cast is really good but Christina Ricci is making this a must watch for me. She is hilarious. Melanie Lynskey is heavier than her old self but she is middle aged and that's what a lot of middle aged women look like. Juliette Lewis can play the white trash outcast in her sleep but she is good here. Tawny Cypress has yet to connect in a real way. She is played too cold for being in a seemingly loving relationship with a small child. Her scene telling off the rich white cunt was satisfying though.
Not sure about the supernatural elements to the story. I would prefer a straight up Lord of the Flies humans are awful real world telling of events. But who knows, the otherworldly stuff might pay off.
by Anonymous | reply 148 | December 6, 2021 7:31 PM |
A female soccer team and big majority of them are straight? That's like making a show about a group of make fashion designers or ballet dancers and almost all of them are straight.

R149 To be fair, the dead ones could be lesbians.
Something seems slightly "off" to me about the 1996 scenes. I can't put my finger on why, some of the details they've gotten wrong have irritated me. I couldn't help but notice a "Keep Calm and Marry Harry" poster above Shauna's bed in the first episode. First of all, Prince Harry was like... what 11 or 12 in 1996? ICK. William was the "hot" one in 1996. Also, "Keep Calm and Carry On" shit wasn't mass marketed until what, 2005?
I'm sorry, I don't know WHY that dumb as hell detail got under my skin!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 150 | December 6, 2021 11:37 PM |
R150, that was her daughter's room. She was middle aged and masturbating in her teenager's room to show how boring her life is in the present.

R161, some of those people are bananas. I’ve followed a few of these woman-centric shows (“Killing Eve”, “Mare of Easttown”, “The Undoing”), and there is a lot of fanatical posting. There’s fan art, fanfic, visiting and analyzing the locations, all kinds of what I’d consider obsessiveness and over-identifying. The craziest ones are the Killing Eve ladies.

So my theory is that Jackie wasn’t the murdered and cannibalized girl shown. We know Jackie is the influential leader and she got the girls to hold a seance in the attic - I could see her coming up with the idea of a sacrifice. She already gave her necklace away once so maybe she’ll do it again. The girls and guy go along with it - but maybe they fought her for control and ran her off before they were rescued and now she’s back for revenge…
I realize this makes zero sense - but I’ve had too much time to dwell on it since WE HAVE TO WAIT A WEEK!

You'd be surprised how many mentally disturbed people work in nursing homes and as home health aides. Their training is minimal and many abuse their patients. Home health aides, as well as nursing home workers, are not supposed to be dispensing any medications. Only a nurse can do that. Is Misty an aide or an actual nurse?

If anyone is looking for hardcore sex on cable shows, male asses, erections or whatever most of you guys are complaining about in this thread, you need to stop watching HBO, Showtime etc. You are not going to see any of that on cable.
Why not simply spend your free time watching actual porn?
When posters come in and ask if there are hard core sex scenes in cable TV shows, I always laugh out loud. I then wonder what the median age of DL posters happens to be these days. 15-16?

You're projecting, R208.
by Anonymous | reply 212 | December 20, 2021 4:39 PM |
There was a clue in this episode that Jackie did get rescued. When Shauna read through Jackie’s notebook you could see she wrote her movie favorite characters in Titanic (1997), scream (December 96), American Beauty & 10 things I hate about you (99) and Bring it on (2000). She also wrote her favorite song was Spice Girls Wannabe which was first played in the US in December 96 on mtv then on the radio in January 97. My guess is that she survived and was rescued but later killed herself or became institutionalized? These entries were too blatant to be errors. I’m also guessing that Jeff or Adam is behind the blackmail. Lotties vision of Laura Lee makes me suspect she will die in a fire- perhaps from trying to fly the plane?
by Anonymous | reply 213 | December 20, 2021 4:42 PM |
Also - Shauna's daughter is 16, so it's not the baby she had in the wilderness. That would make Shauna 34 and I thought they were saying Jackie was having her 40th birthday or something.
So I assume that baby dies and Callie is a kid she has when she returns and gets back with Jeff?
by Anonymous | reply 214 | December 20, 2021 4:44 PM |
Jackie is dead. The cheerleading uniform that Shauna's cunty daughter wears was given to Shauna by Jackie's parents to remember her on her 40th birthday.
by Anonymous | reply 215 | December 20, 2021 4:48 PM |
I doubt Shauna’s baby survives. They aren’t eating well she will probably miscarry. Callie was born in 2005 or 2006.

Huge Juliette fan; in real life she’s in a rock band. I first heard of this when Lana Del Rey made her infamous SNL debut; Juliette, who apparently knew her, was trashing the performance on Twitter, which sounded a bit like sour grapes: how does this chick get so much exposure when my band doesn’t?
by Anonymous | reply 219 | December 20, 2021 6:02 PM |
Humans eat dirt when desperate for nutrients. I suddenly remembered this fact when watching last night, Tai has deep unresolved trauma, but the act of eating the dirt or even sucking her own blood is a reaction to desperately needing iron more than being insane.

by Anonymous | reply 224 | December 20, 2021 8:35 PM |
I wonder if this is a production error, but last week I re-watched the first few episodes, and in the third episode I counted 18 or so survivors hand in hand as the girls circled the makeshift graves for the dead. I wonder if the other extras will ever become full-fledged characters as the show goes on. Probably not, but it seems like a weird detail to insert then never mention again.
by Anonymous | reply 225 | December 20, 2021 8:55 PM |
R213 The diary entries are so bizarre. I can't help but wonder if it was just a careless prop, versus a real clue about the future.
by Anonymous | reply 226 | December 20, 2021 8:57 PM |
Maybe Jackie's mother made the diary entries as a way to try and keep her memory alive. They're still holding birthday parties for her, they obviously didn't deal with their grief in any sort of healthy manner.
by Anonymous | reply 227 | December 20, 2021 9:34 PM |
I'll wager that the poster above is correct and Jackie returned but killed herself. That's why the mum is being a passive aggressive bitch to Shauna.
by Anonymous | reply 228 | December 20, 2021 10:00 PM |
R220 A couple episodes back Tai’s wife remarked on her weight loss / not eating. It also seems that her son has been haunted by the “lady in the tree” for awhile. Whatever triggered her is beyond the blackmail and campaign. I think it must have something to do with Van.
by Anonymous | reply 229 | December 20, 2021 10:11 PM |
R229, I was thinking more about when Lottie saw a vision of Tai wildly eating dirt in the wild in the 90s. That though it implied she was merely insane, it would be somewhat rational were she starving.
by Anonymous | reply 230 | December 20, 2021 11:09 PM |
R230 I don't think what Lottie saw was a vision, I think Lottie literally saw Tai eating dirt. Van did comment on how dirty Tai's nails were when they were in the lake together, and Tai was surprised herself that they were so filthy.

Juliette Lewis's character Natalie is obviously the same age as her HS frenemies. We are supposed to somewhat overlook Juliette being a decade older than some of the other actresses and somewhat attribute it to her being a hard partying bad ass chick.
For "Kevyn Tan", the hot hop, difficult to know Alex Wyndham's ethnic mix. He is born and raised in England is very classy - very prestigious prep school, Oxford and then Royal Academy. He does sort of stick out in this series and he's not all that convincing as the grown up Teen "Kevyn Tan" who has an asian last name but isn't played by a young asian or mixed actor, either, to my eyes.

Stupid to let Adam into their home. If he is Javi maybe he killed his brother and emptied his bank account.
by Anonymous | reply 267 | December 26, 2021 7:34 AM |
It didn't make a lot of sense for so many of the girls to decide to leave camp to look for rescue. There was no benefit and a lot of risk. Also the girls aren't stupid so WTF.
by Anonymous | reply 268 | December 26, 2021 10:24 AM |
Also, why did the girl end up high in the tree, and with the bone from her girlfriend? She was in a trance and took the bone for self preservation when she heard the wolves?
by Anonymous | reply 269 | December 26, 2021 11:31 AM |
Shauna should have burned her diary. My goodness. I understand that many people who journal almost do it compulsively (ugh), but girl... you're pregnant with your best friend's boyfriend's baby. You're in the woods with 10 other girls. Does she really think NO ONE would have snooped? Forget Jackie. Any of the girls probably would have read that diary had they come across it.
by Anonymous | reply 270 | December 26, 2021 4:06 PM |
I thought this episode was a hoot. The three adult women racing around in the SUV was very funny. What's going on with Travis? Is there another 'talk' with coach in his future?
[quote]After this episode, I’m more tolerant of the Adam is Javi theory, but not totally convinced.
I hadn't even considered that. But I did think the guy extorting them with the snow mask on was Javi.
by Anonymous | reply 271 | December 27, 2021 3:50 AM |
Shauna's husband is the blackmailer and he's not having an affair. It's all misdirection.
by Anonymous | reply 272 | December 27, 2021 7:21 AM |
^ooh good one! The preview shows her finding some glitter in what seemed to be sheets, I just assumed it was from Adam. It would explain why her hubby came in so late! The hooded figure also seemed a bit burly, more like the husband than teeny Adam.
by Anonymous | reply 273 | December 27, 2021 7:41 AM |
And he knows them all! The husband knows all of the women from high school ... he knows more about them than any other character besides the survivors! We are meant to feel like he's a random dude, but he's a Yellow Jacket too.
by Anonymous | reply 274 | December 27, 2021 12:29 PM |
Ah! I like that idea. I had considered the woman Shauna saw him with was not actually an affair but the idea that he's the blackmailer is a good one. His business is failing, perhaps.
by Anonymous | reply 275 | December 27, 2021 4:11 PM |
He must give good dickens. She knew he was a cheater because he cheater with her. And she threw away her future, once back to civilization. Her friend GOES to college and law school. She pops out kids, riding his dick, and he's a loser and she always knew it.

Is the blond guy tall? hmmmm
by Anonymous | reply 279 | December 27, 2021 4:28 PM |
Yes so obvious it’s Shauna’s husband. Mysteriously out all night the same night of the money drop??? And the glitter shit was an easy way for them to show her finding it in their house.
Also didn’t they whine about not having money for their daughter’s college fund? He could say he wanted the money for that or some bullshit.
Hope there’s a better twist in addition to this. Maybe he’s working with Adam.
by Anonymous | reply 280 | December 27, 2021 4:29 PM |
This could be purely coincidental but I noticed in Sunday’s episode that adult and youth Shauna were both wearing butterfly-themed shirts. A possible clue regarding her character arc?

I know it’s heresy to come into this thread and say it, but I’m starting to get tired of this show. I just want to know how they got rescued. I don’t care about the rest of it.
by Anonymous | reply 283 | December 29, 2021 9:55 PM |
Why did the show spend so much time showing Tai cutting her hair? Why did she do that, anyway? I LOLed when it looked like a mullet and Van called it “pretty hot, actually”.
by Anonymous | reply 284 | December 29, 2021 9:56 PM |
Yeah I find the girls much more interesting than the adults. And it’s dragging a bit - I agree with r283

by Anonymous | reply 291 | January 1, 2022 6:27 AM |
I wouldn’t be surprised if Shauna’s boytoy is secretly the baby she had in the woods but that seems like it would be too twisted for this show. I do think he’s the blackmailer though or at least working with him.
The show is starting to pick up again after a couple of truly boring episodes. The last five minutes was the show really cashing in on its promise.
I don’t think that’s the last we’re gonna see of the dead girl.

by Anonymous | reply 293 | January 1, 2022 3:07 PM |
My fave line/scene so far is when Juliette calls Ricci (Missy) a "Poodle haired FREAK" because it's so true and because Ricci plays it amazing - she looks shocked someone doesn't like her Ogilvy home-perm. Great writing and superb acting.

Maybe Adam is Javi & Travis' brother?
by Anonymous | reply 295 | January 2, 2022 4:34 AM |
I liked it in the car when the frenemies are shading Juliette for being a mess and she reads them back for handing on threads, themselves. So true.

by Anonymous | reply 299 | January 2, 2022 6:43 PM |
R297 How could that be possible? He's way too old to play their son.

Between Juliette Lewis's Karenesque-Kabuki theatre phone call freakout and Christina Ricci's anguished howl at the thought of losing her cockatoo, I thought this episode was hilarious. The ending was inevitable with that plane just sitting there but I felt sorry for Jesus girl.

Why does Travis always looks so haunted? We know he was traumatized from bullying, seeing his gruesomely killed father, and probably whatever his physical ailment was. But is the show hinting at sexual violence at the hands of Bobby Farleigh? They often show Travis' eyes and it looks like he's completely dissociated.
by Anonymous | reply 310 | January 3, 2022 6:26 PM |
Maybe his father molested him?
by Anonymous | reply 311 | January 4, 2022 3:46 AM |
r311 that is a good theory because of the way he acted when his father died and him being squirelly about having sex with Natalie.
by Anonymous | reply 312 | January 4, 2022 4:35 AM |
R310 How do we know that he was bullied?
by Anonymous | reply 313 | January 4, 2022 10:02 AM |
r313 he told Natalie how he was bullied at school
by Anonymous | reply 314 | January 4, 2022 12:41 PM |
Keep up. He was bullied at school because someone invented a rumor he had rib or spine surgery so he could suck himself off.

They called him Flex
by Anonymous | reply 316 | January 4, 2022 12:44 PM |
The make-up job they do on Lewis to make her look like a haggard mess is phenomenal. I was watching an IG live she did for New Year's without makeup and she looked 15 years younger than Natalie. No shit. She's a little out there tho OR should I say "Actor-y." Like there's almost a disconnect?
Not that Natalie is unattractive. I mean...she's sexy but the character looks like she's been through some shit.
Does anyone else FF through the plane crash scenes UNTIL they see something interesting? I'm getting impatient. I know--I get it--slow build blabhlablah
by Anonymous | reply 317 | January 4, 2022 12:53 PM |
I’m sad about Jesus Girl, she couldn’t even clutch her Teddy Bear at the end.

no I watch everything.
by Anonymous | reply 319 | January 4, 2022 3:28 PM |
In the first four or five episodes I actually preferred the plane crash scenes over the current day ones, but in the past few episodes, I'm really enjoying the dynamic between the adult women. Tai is suddenly a lot more interesting with adult Shauna than she is with her boring wife and weirdo son. I suddenly recognized the younger version of her as being the same actress in the final season of The Leftovers.

Am I the only one who can't stand Juliette Lewis?
by Anonymous | reply 321 | January 4, 2022 4:28 PM |
Yes R321, she may be a bit off-putting but it suits her character perfectly.
by Anonymous | reply 322 | January 4, 2022 6:08 PM |
If they really became cannibals, I could see the coach as their very first meal.
by Anonymous | reply 323 | January 4, 2022 6:47 PM |
Why isn't their wild game to hunt in the woods. Why did they make a big deal of the creepy carvings and now let it slide? Why did the lawyers kid have a "creepy kid" arc and now nothing.
by Anonymous | reply 324 | January 4, 2022 6:49 PM |
R324 What in the God's name are you blabbering about?
by Anonymous | reply 325 | January 4, 2022 7:45 PM |
there.
by Anonymous | reply 326 | January 4, 2022 7:51 PM |
R324, I know, that’s just stupid. There have to be some birds and squirrels at least. Or snails and frogs. Dog forbid I ever have to find out, but I think there are lots of small animals that you can catch. And there was that scene with the group at the cabin, just sitting there idly during daylight. Bitches, there’s WORK to do. Why wouldn’t they be gathering food?
I also know that humans need sodium. I wonder if the old dude had a supply of salt.
by Anonymous | reply 327 | January 4, 2022 8:36 PM |
so who the fuck is adams?
by Anonymous | reply 329 | January 4, 2022 10:32 PM |
I really hope Adam isn’t Javi. I’m sorry, I know it’s been twenty something years but if you spent that much time deserted in the woods with someone, you’d still recognize them.
Why did they get such an ugly actor to play Travis? I know he’s the only game in town but it’s hard to be invested in these girls sweating a 4 as much as they are.
by Anonymous | reply 330 | January 5, 2022 10:49 PM |
They can't live on small game. Rabbits and squirrels are too lean too provide the fat that humans need.

Does anyone know how many episodes they are planning per season?
by Anonymous | reply 333 | January 6, 2022 12:12 PM |
I believe I read the first season has 10 episodes...not sure if true but they have a hell of a lot to cover according to the previews. I wonder if they wrote Season 1 as a stand alone and then it became a hit (well...a Showtime hit) and now they have to construct new/different narratives.
by Anonymous | reply 334 | January 6, 2022 3:12 PM |
I’m loving this show after two episodes! My only obscure critique is that they have some Preppy Handbook touches in here (Lilly Pulitzer, ribbon belts) and that stuff didn’t make a comeback in popular culture until 00 or 01, it wouldn’t have been referenced in 96.
by Anonymous | reply 335 | January 8, 2022 1:32 AM |
So why did Jeff take the journals out of the safe? That part didn’t make sense to me.

The series is stretching everything out. To start the series, we got flash forwards to grisly winter goings on at the camp and its not even winter at the end of season 1. Bad pacing.

The writers have planned for 5 seasons. The team is only ~6 months into their 19-month ordeal. There is much, much more to be shown and known.
Misty is psychotic. Poor Coach Ben, I'm sure she killed him.
by Anonymous | reply 352 | January 9, 2022 5:40 PM |
This was definitely the best episode since the pilot. Whoever wrote this episode should be writing them all. I loved the dynamics between Shauna and her husband, the Doom Homecoming, Nat and the coach. Parts of it felt like a play.
Something weird is up with Jackie starving herself. I have a suspicion that she might be intentionally trying to kill herself with their intention of donating her body for the rest of them to eat. But that seems like it could be a small arc resolved in the next episode where she gets over her doom and gloom complex.
Or maybe this episode changed the dynamics completely and now Jackie is about to killed.
R352, I have a feeling you’re right about Misty killing Coach. I hope it doesn’t happen too soon. I love the character and the actor is so good looking. That boner scene was classic TV. It’s gonna be really tragic when he goes.

Maybe Misty overpowered Coach Ben somehow and was able to strangle him. No one saw her with him, so his death is chalked up to the mushrooms. That's my theory. I'll be shocked if he survived coming out to her.
by Anonymous | reply 360 | January 10, 2022 2:39 AM |
I meant we might not get many answers before the end of the season. I would have thought that was obvious. Everybody knows it's been renewed and they're trying to drag 5 season out of this story.

by Anonymous | reply 366 | January 10, 2022 5:00 AM |
I really hope they don’t lean too much into the supernatural influence. I find the human psychology of being trapped together far away and how that affects the dynamics far more interesting than some half-baked Wendigo bullshit.
Having said that, I think Van is some kind of zombie.
by Anonymous | reply 367 | January 10, 2022 6:18 AM |

The show's creators, Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson (who are married IRL), already know where the story is headed—and have since before they filmed a single episode.

I am getting an uneasy Lost vibe when Lottie was saying "it doesn't want to let us go" or whatever, talking about the forest (or wherever they are). They pulled that on Lost and left a lot of loose ends, things we were never given an answer to. That's why I said above I hope they aren't getting into the supernatural too much.
by Anonymous | reply 390 | January 11, 2022 3:23 AM |

A lot of unrealistic stuff, like wolves attacking group of humans, which would never happen, coach not getting any kind of infection even though his leg was cut off in the forest, Van not getting any infections even though wolf has bitten half of her face off, her having a tiny scar even though there was a huge hole on the side of her face and you could see her teeth through it, one if the teenage girls fixing her face better than a professional plastic surgeon would, with just a needle and a thread

I laughed when she exposed her face and it was not only completely healed, but there are two small scars as the only aftereffect.

r406 I know I sound like a drama queen but after getting so involved with LOST and having the creators basically crap on the viewers did make me cynical and wary of getting involved in a show like that again.

R399 and R400
Are we watching the same show? Nothing supernatural has happened? What episode are you on? How are there 5 PEOPLE who agree with that?
Also, they landed somewhere in Canada which has a fuck ton of islands. I don't remember anyone saying they're NOT on an island. Did I miss that?
R407 Do you remember when J. J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof said the crew IS NOT dead in S1 but six seasons later they were dead the whole time?
by Anonymous | reply 412 | January 12, 2022 2:22 PM |
Yeah Canada has a ton of island, but they’re not on one of them.

I'll take your word if you can you confirm it.
by Anonymous | reply 414 | January 12, 2022 2:40 PM |
I do think the show alludes to supernatural or occult like stuff. I just would prefer that is kept to a minimum if I am correct on that.
by Anonymous | reply 415 | January 12, 2022 2:45 PM |
What Canadian island are they in in the middle of a mountain range?
by Anonymous | reply 416 | January 12, 2022 3:09 PM |
I'm sorry but I forgot, do we know where they were flying to? I know it's the nationals for soccer but I don't remember where. I know they are from NJ.
by Anonymous | reply 417 | January 12, 2022 3:20 PM |
R417 I think it was Seattle and due to a storm they had to go into Canadian airspace. I could also be imagining that entire scenario.
by Anonymous | reply 418 | January 12, 2022 3:26 PM |
Yes, R418, they were flying to Seattle from NJ and crashed in "the Canadian wilderness."
by Anonymous | reply 419 | January 12, 2022 3:28 PM |
The pilot said that they were flying "north" to avoid the storm but I don't think he ever said Canada. They could have been over the US Rockies when they crashed. Are we all thinking that it's Canada because that's where the show is filmed?
by Anonymous | reply 420 | January 12, 2022 3:38 PM |
R412 Where are you mentioning me? I said that nothing supernatural chas happened so far.
by Anonymous | reply 421 | January 12, 2022 3:42 PM |
I'm thinking Canada because that's how every review characterizes it. I assume reviewers are working off info provided in the press packet.

That little boy in the plane crash survived in Canada with just a Hatchet all that time alone, but these bitches can’t seem to pull it together with all the resources they have? Didn’t any of them read the book? I mean Misty must have right, or even Travis or his brother? I can’t believe e no one’s brought it up yet. And none of them were Girl Scouts?
by Anonymous | reply 423 | January 12, 2022 3:47 PM |
They’re on, what, their second week in the wilderness, and are supposedly there for 19 months. There’s a lot of ground to cover, including when they’re found and return to school, etc. You have Misty, though, hiding shrooms and stuff in a tree, and she destroyed the black box so there’d be no signal - Misty is up to no good. I’m not guessing there’s much of a supernatural element to it. I think it’s Misty.
by Anonymous | reply 424 | January 12, 2022 11:48 PM |
You are all retarded Helen Kellers if you didn't notice the first several episodes were filled with supernatural signifying.
by Anonymous | reply 425 | January 13, 2022 12:30 AM |
I hope it doesn't go too deep on supernatural hocus pocus but if they entirely drop it after all the foreshadowing, it was a cheap trick.
by Anonymous | reply 426 | January 13, 2022 12:32 AM |
I do think they’re in Canada, they mentioned they’re in a fur trapper’s cabin.
No supernatural stuff? Lottie’s “visions?” The man with no eyes? It’s not awash in supernatural stuff, but it’s definitely simmering.
I find Christina Ricci hysterical & laugh out loud funny in this. The scene where she busted in & snorted the coke! Or when she tried to play off not caring about the reporter holding Caligula hostage…she’s really good at comedy.
by Anonymous | reply 427 | January 13, 2022 12:38 AM |
So they will drag the mystery for 5 years? It's quite presumptuous of the writers to think they will get renewed that long. I can see many viewers getting frustrated by season 2 (many are now) and then the show cancelled by season 3.
by Anonymous | reply 428 | January 13, 2022 12:48 AM |
R424 It's not their second week there. Few months have already passed.

R425 Name few of these supernatural things.
by Anonymous | reply 430 | January 13, 2022 6:18 AM |
R427 The man with no eyes is just Tai's vision. Lottie's visions as well. We will see if she can predict the future or if she a schizophrenic and only thinks she can see it. I'm afraid it will be the latter.
by Anonymous | reply 431 | January 13, 2022 6:21 AM |
The “supernatural” shit is just hallucinations by mentally ill people.
by Anonymous | reply 432 | January 13, 2022 6:22 AM |

R430 The creepy son talking about someone watching in the tree? His spray painting? The vision/warnings from Lottie (how likely is it that she's SIMPLY schizo). The man with no eyes. Those seem pretty supernatural to me.
I mean...it's not vampires

by Anonymous | reply 436 | January 13, 2022 10:38 AM |
Well, if everything has a reasonable explanation, this show is gonna lose its appeal.
by Anonymous | reply 437 | January 13, 2022 10:56 AM |
R437 Precisely that. Its a delicate balance. Keeps some hocus pocus but don't put in too much. If EVERYTHING is totally rational, and a few seasons in, they will have cheated us with smoke and mirrors for too long.
They have dropped for a moment the weird FRESH tree carvings. But that was heavy foreshadowing.
by Anonymous | reply 438 | January 13, 2022 11:10 AM |
R434 "someone watching in the tree? His spray painting" It was his mom watching him. Did you missed the part when she was sleepwalking and ended up in a tree when the wolves attacked the other girls. And was eating dirt when sleepwalking, both as a teen and an adult. She also spray painted that stuff on her house doors.
by Anonymous | reply 439 | January 13, 2022 2:50 PM |
They're in Northern Ontario according to the showrunners. But the show is filmed in B.C.
by Anonymous | reply 440 | January 13, 2022 3:16 PM |
The things the kid saw were his mother sleepwalking. The man with no eyes can also be explained as hallucinations from Tai not sleeping well. She is aware that the stress is getting to her and that she’s not mentally well. That’s why she sent her wife and child to stay somewhere else. She’s afraid she’s going to do something dangerous.
The things Lottie saw were due to her being unmedicated — she’s schizophrenic or psychotic. Is anyone else seeing or hearing things that aren’t there?
Of course there’s some ambiguity because that makes it more interesting.
by Anonymous | reply 441 | January 13, 2022 3:43 PM |
the boy was practically catatonic. he destroyed his playroom. Or was that the mother "sleepwalking"?
explain fresh carvings. Explain the spooky music that played with the fresh carvings.
by Anonymous | reply 442 | January 13, 2022 3:52 PM |
The only aspect that seems supernatural to me at this point might be Lottie. The flashback of her screaming in terror when she was in the car with her parents, which made them turn around and avoid a car collision. Then obviously her ramblings now that she's off of her meds. She might be psychic or she might be mentally ill. We have five seasons to find out.

Children act out when their home life is difficult. He was making weird drawings of what he saw, hitting a kid on the playground, pretty typical “acting out” behavior. When viewed through a lens sympathetic of this child’s environment, he’s not sinister at all. He’s trying to cope with a parent who’s unraveling and unstable.
I think of him as Danny from “The Shining”.
by Anonymous | reply 446 | January 13, 2022 4:44 PM |
Courtney Eaton (Lottie) did an interview with Vulture. Some points: she knew that Lottie was the Antler Queen because Sam Hanratty (teenage Misty) had been on set with the stunt doubles who did that scene and put it together. She trolls reddit and checks out the theories. At this point, she doesn't know if her character is actually having premonitions or is mentally ill. Doesn't know who would play an adult version of Lottie, doesn't seem impressed by the journalist's suggestions of Jordana Brewster or Fairuza Balk.
by Anonymous | reply 447 | January 13, 2022 4:55 PM |
If Lottie is still alive in the present, they should try to get Katherine Waterston to play her. I think they look alike.

[quote] I really hate this trend of trying to prolong some of these limited series. It’s okay to really love something and let it run its course.
A perfect example of the is the Walking Dead.
They have dragged that show out for 10 seasons, just to milk it for every last drop.
As a result, the show absolutely sucks.
However, they premiered a limited series called "Walking Dead: World Beyond," which was explicitly going to run for two seasons, and that's it.
The show ran for exactly two seasons, and it was just perfect.
Everything wrapped up nicely, but best of all, the QUALITY of the show was a million times better than the original Walking Dead series.
But Hollywood is full of greedy whores, who don't give a shit about quality. They just try to make as much money as possible.
by Anonymous | reply 451 | January 14, 2022 1:51 AM |

They’ll cancel this too if it doesn’t pull in the viewers…
by Anonymous | reply 456 | January 14, 2022 3:26 PM |
And if they don't cancel it, they'll definitely ruin it. They botched Dexter so badly the first time around, I swore I'd never watch or re watch an episode. Now people on the subreddit are upset that this newest finale was worse than the original one.

by Anonymous | reply 458 | January 14, 2022 4:40 PM |
You can already tell it's not suited for 5 seasons by the plot devices that have gone nowhere, like Tai's son for example. They're just dragging it out so the pacing is all wrong. Better to have 2 great seasons than 5 disjointed ones.
by Anonymous | reply 459 | January 14, 2022 7:08 PM |
Dexter is a good comparison - they should have ended that after the trinity killer but instead they milked it and subsequent seasons were terrible.
by Anonymous | reply 460 | January 14, 2022 7:09 PM |
You bitches are so hung up on the 5 season aspect. You have no idea what the creators have in store for future seasons. Just watch and enjoy where it goes, or don't. So far it's a great ride and I'll watch until the end.

It'll get cancelled 2 seasons in.
by Anonymous | reply 462 | January 14, 2022 7:42 PM |
You all need to relax. 5 seasons of this show is only 50 episodes. In its first 2 seasons alone Lost made 49! So I'm sure there is more than enough story here for 50 episodes. Also, if the writers realize halfway through that they don't have enough story to fill 5 seasons, they *do* have the option of wrapping it up sooner.
by Anonymous | reply 463 | January 14, 2022 8:53 PM |
Who knows where the show will end with S5... originally I was thinking that it would end with the teens getting rescued, but that doesn't really make sense, does it? There needs to be something happening in the present time that needs to be resolved. I'm wondering if we're going to see them rescued around S3 or S4 and maybe S5 will be set entirely with the adults.
by Anonymous | reply 464 | January 14, 2022 9:01 PM |
Also, does it seem like maybe the authorities never found the wreckage or were able to examine the remains of those that died? Because if they could perform autopsies, they might have found evidence of cannibalism on the bones/remains (knife marks, teeth marks, etc). Instead, whether or not they were forest cannibals is a big mystery when they're adults.

As someone from NJ I thought the accent was ridiculous and over the top. There’s no way these girls from an upper middle class suburb would sound that way. So I’m just gonna assume that girl spent the last 25 years living on Staten Island.
I don’t think the Spice Girls became a thing until late ‘96 so it’s too early for them to have been into them. But Wannabe technically dropped in June ‘96 so maybe Van was into them before it was cool?

Christina Ricci deserves an Emmy nod. She injects just the right about humor into a very dark show and somehow makes a completely psychotic character likable.

Now that Antler Queen Lottie is starting to believe that she needs to make sacrifices to the Forest Gods to get food, I can see how someone will eventually be singled out and end up in the pit. Based on the hair, I think Pit Girl from the pilot episode is Mari.

The problem with this being 5 season, is that it’s not filmed on a network show schedule. It could be 7-8 year before the 5th season finally airs. As mentioned above, they haven’t even started writing season 2.
We can hope that they’ll film a few of them back to back so the timeline to air them is accelerated.

I still think the girl in the pit from the first episode is Lottie. Same height and hair. Something will happen where she makes a mistake and Misty pushes her out as leader. How her name is associated with this cult that just kidnapped Natalie is a mystery, but I think it all might come down to Taissa. Didn't the fixer say it was Taissa who hired her to begin with? And now her wife has seen Taissa's little offerings in the cellar to win the election, I'm feeling like maybe Lottie's 'spirit' took her over in the woods and she has a DID thing going on? I don't know but I really liked this season.
Also, I agree with a poster upthread that the younger actress who plays Shauna is excellent. Her scene over dead Jackie was heartbreaking and it explains a lot about adult Shauna. I also think the actress playing young Natalie is very good.

Okay, R501 here and I retract that statement about Lottie in the opening scene. I just watched it again and the girl was shorter (also I think the one who stood over her body after she fell in is Van). But since we've not heard hide nor hair of adult Lottie, I feel like the rest of the survivors think that she's dead. And maybe she is. They could go in a lot of directions with this.

Liked the ending. My problem with the episode is this - where the fuck were Nat and Travis (not to mention the little bro)? They wouldn’t go back to the cabin and start a search for the brother? Seemed off to me but other than that - I liked it.
Tiassa’s smile after winning was fabulous and I like cult leader Lottie.
This show is so dark - I sorta laughed when the missing person’s segment played, but was sad when the bear got it.

R517, that was Taissa’s family dog, Biscuit. Remember their dog went missing and the wife and son were making “missing dog” posters?
Guess she sacrificed the family dog in a black magic ritual to win the election. And maybe she was tempted to sacrifice her wife and/or kid to get more than a senator’s seat.

I was rewatching the pilot last night and was reminded that Lottie's family is rich. And also in a conversation between Shauna and Taissa, she asked if "the others" had been found or heard from since and so I think we are going to find out in S2 that a few more of the girls are still alive. There were six who left the campfire after they made a meal of the slain girl in the pit. So Shauna, Natalie, Tai, Misty, and...? I feel like Vanessa is def one of the alive ones.
by Anonymous | reply 521 | January 17, 2022 2:32 PM |
I have a feeling something supernatural is going to happen to Van. I don’t see how she survived the mauling and the plane burning. When she came to after being on the fire, she was seeing everything with a blue tint. If it is a Wendingo, it’ll probably possess her and turn her into a monster. Tai will have to kill her and it will be a sad moment.

The coach is an assistant HS soccer coach, not a navy seal. And his injury was significant (although the show seems to be playing it down). But even if the coach is a natural leader with miraculous self-healing abilities, he would have been completely out of it the first week. They would have learned to get along without him and he would have had to re-assert his authority from scratch. While being unable to walk.

R531, Misty was injecting the chocolate candies for the box she was going to send to Jessica's father to threaten her, not cigarettes. Obviously, the reporter thought she'd outsmarted Misty by the time she let her go and didn't consider that the box of cigarettes Misty had thrown in the trash would also be laced. I don't think that was her being stupid, just cocky.

The Coach is deadweight. He can't even hike out of there by himself even if he wanted to. He'll be the first one they sacrifice to Lottie's Forest God.
He and Jackie were acting like they were still back in civilization, not starving in the forest. The rules of conduct have gone out the window and only the strong are going to survive. He doesn't get to be Boss just because he was back in Jersey. No one has any reason to listen to him.

They have water, wood, shelter, and tools. No food. I guess they will eventually run out of candles. They shouldn't be so generous in their use. Kristy can probably make bear tallow candles. 🤪

‘Yellowjackets’ star Melanie Lynskey says she was body-shamed on set
The Yellowjackets have each other’s backs.
Melanie Lynskey, who plays Shauna in “Yellowjackets,” says her fellow actors rallied to her defense after she was body-shamed by a member of production.
The New Zealand-born actress claims that someone on the crew for the creepy Showtime drama series asked about her weight.
“They were asking me, ‘What do you plan to do? I’m sure the producers will get you a trainer. They’d love to help you with this,’” Lynskey, 44, recalled to Rolling Stone.
Lynskey said co-stars Tawny Cypress, Christina Ricci and Juliette Lewis stood by her, with Lewis even writing a letter to producers on her behalf.
“It was really important to me for [Shauna] to not ever comment on my body, to not have me putting a dress on and being like, ‘I wish I looked a bit better,’” she explained. “I did find it important that this character is just comfortable and sexual and not thinking or talking about it, because I want women to be able to watch it and be like, ‘Wow, she looks like me and nobody’s saying she’s the fat one.’ That representation is important.”
Sadly, it hasn’t just been the production staff who have criticized Lynskey’s appearance.
The actress says fans have questioned whether Adam (Peter Gadiot) — the hunky artist Shauna has an affair with — would really be attracted to her.
“I’m just like, ‘Wow, really? That’s where people’s heads are at, that the most important thing is being thin or young?’” she exclaimed.
Page Six has reached out to Showtime for comment.
In real life, Lynskey is married to actor Jason Ritter. The two share one child together, a 3-year-old daughter.
The “Sweet Home Alabama” star has been vocal about her past struggles with an eating disorder over the years.
“It’s a bummer to have to say this, but the biggest challenge I’ve faced in my career would be my own body image and the way that the industry views people’s bodies,” she told Denizen last year.
”There’s sort of an implicit expectation of perfection because everybody looks the same. But I had a bad eating disorder for 10 years, and even when I was like 58 kilograms [128 pounds], I would still be shamed in wardrobe fittings for not being sample size.”

by Anonymous | reply 577 | January 18, 2022 12:30 PM |
People typically date within their level. It’s not often you’d see hot, young guys objectifying a Shauna. It’s the same in the gay world. I’m technically a Shauna, and Instahoes wouldn’t give me the time of day, never mind date me.
by Anonymous | reply 578 | January 18, 2022 1:36 PM |
Shauna’s not-hotness is acknowledged. Her daughter alludes to it when she says something like, “I guess you’ve got that Yellowjacket’s thing going on.” And it’s unstated, but I think it’s obvious that Shauna’s eventual suspicion of her bf is due, in part, to their physical mismatch. Also she used that and her embarrassment when she was placating the other women before they got rid of the body.

Yeah I wasn’t distracted by the Adam/Shauna thing. Lots of men are into bigger women. There are lots of guys on this site even who are into dad bods and bears. He might not openly call her his girlfriend or marry her but it’s easy to believe he’d get horny for her if he was into that sort of thing.
I never noticed that they never directly addressed her weight and I found that refreshing. It was normalizing.

[quote]She has a mega rack, and it’s not like she’s 70.
Say what you will about Shauna's dumpiness, she does have one amazing asset. Notice that the dress her husband bought for her showed that feature off. It seems like Jeff has been on Shauna's side for a long time and we even saw him defend her to Jackie's parents. The fact that he read her diaries years ago but never let on suggests that he might even admire her for surviving the way she did. He digs his wife's survivalist instincts and recognizes that she's much smarter than him. I can see why he's still with her.
R583, appreciate the link but as I listened to Joanna Robinson go on about reddit's theories I was reminded why I loathe her so much. She's got to be the fucking laziest critic around.
by Anonymous | reply 592 | January 18, 2022 10:31 PM |
I can't see why Shauna is still with Jeff. She could have done better than the prom king who runs a failing furniture store. It's funny how she accused Jackie of peaking in high school and then that's exactly what happened to her.
The creators said in an interview that the years immediately after their return will be explored and I can't wait. I want to see why Shauna didn't go to Brown (or anywhere else), just settled in and went through the motions of mediocrity.
by Anonymous | reply 593 | January 18, 2022 10:35 PM |
Shauna’s storyline is going to have to explain what happened to the baby she’s carrying. Even if the child doesn’t survive, that additional trauma (on top of everything else) might make her feel linked to Jeff and less willing to leave her hometown.
