What will MSNBC do? Chris Hayes and Laurence O'Donnell don't seem to make much of an impact. I hardly ever hear anyone talk about them.

She’s not leaving. Her show is ending in 2022 and she’ll be working on other projects at the network.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | November 14, 2021 4:05 AM |
when in 2022?
She's still leaving the primetime lineup which is what I was wondering about. I can't fathom who'll they'll get to replace her and maintain her ratings/influence.
Is she just tired of the daily grind?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | November 14, 2021 4:09 AM |
Her show is going nowhere. Spinning wheel. She must be bored out of her mind and tired of the grind.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | November 14, 2021 4:11 AM |
She couldn't stand up to Hannity; he trounced her in the ratings.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | November 14, 2021 4:12 AM |
I would love it if she took over "Meet the Press" and revitalized it.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | November 14, 2021 4:45 AM |
She clearly does not like the pressures of covering breaking news.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | November 14, 2021 7:06 AM |
Rachel doesn't bother with 99% of breaking news. I like her but very narrow focus and its quite played out. She needs to do something else with her mind. She must be independently wealthy for life now.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | November 14, 2021 1:51 PM |
So what you want about her, but I really appreciate that covers certain news, and in such a way (at least in the first 20 minute segment), that is so different from her peers, both on MSNBC and other places, or that they don't even touch on...and certainly FoxNews. Watching her show and then flipping to Fox is like entering into another dimension.
I like her narrow focus on certain topics a show. All the other shows try to cover everything, it's not always necessary. Especially when you go into as much depth and background on the subject as she does.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | November 14, 2021 3:44 PM |
Also she respects Al Sharpton. At first I though it was because her employer forced her to respect him but now I'm convinced its honestly her. Like WTF?

Chris Hayes and his new muscular physique should wear tighter shirts.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | November 15, 2021 7:05 PM |
She wants to cultivate a girlier image, so she's doing new crafting shows about macramé and découpage.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | November 15, 2021 7:07 PM |
I stopped watching post muller report. I thought everyone did.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | November 15, 2021 7:11 PM |
The Trump years were the most profitable era of cable news ever. He's gone so ratings have predictably fallen off.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | November 15, 2021 7:14 PM |
She switched her representation to Ari Emmanuel. You saw a much nicer version of him played by Jeremy Piven on Entourage. Do not believe she is leaving. It's possible but her future is now in the ether. There is no way to figure out what she wants or what she will settle for.
My GUESS is that she is tired of the grind and would prefer to step away from a nightly hour long show. The REALITY is that MSNBC locked her up temporarily to renegotiate at a future point. That negotiation could include continuing the show with a revamped format that brings in other hosts where she hands off certain stories and interviews to others, exactly like the nightly network news operates--with Rachel of course doing more than just playing anchor. Or her hosting 3 or 4 nights per week with permanent guest hosts and extra vacation time. Look at what Sirius has allowed Howard Stern to get away with and maintain his show. She wont get any schedule as luxurious but it shows there are options
by Anonymous | reply 18 | November 15, 2021 7:22 PM |
If you remember when Rachel started out, She used the whole studio. She had a lot of unique segments and she was out across America, and when she wasn’t, she had live reporters.
Now I don’t even know if her show is even live anymore. It’s been shrunk down to zooming in on Rachel’s face every night. No studio shots. No live remotes.
I think MSNBC is hamstringing her and shrinking her footprint. She’s had enough.

[quote]Why's Rachel Maddow leaving?
Not enough scissoring time with the ball and chain.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | November 15, 2021 7:45 PM |
Do you have any idea how hard it is to plan a show day-after-day-after-day only to have to throw it all out at the last minute and run with something different?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | November 15, 2021 8:37 PM |
She was kind of nasty to Mayor Pete.
And she used such insider terminology something like "I couldn't imagine going up (for the Rhodes scholarship) and being in the closet."
Just the way she said going up like we were all supposed to know what that meant.
It was also annoying since she didn't have the option of being closeted like Pete did since she screams lesbian from miles away.
Plus lesbians don't face the same stigma and prejudice gay men do......and she didn't have political aspirations to think of like Pete did.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | November 16, 2021 3:50 AM |
Would you want to do that job OP? Hosting a daily show is a tough gig. I can't blame her if she is getting burnt out. Same thing happened to Jon Stewart.
It is a big loss for MSNBC as she is by far their highest rated host.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | November 16, 2021 4:05 AM |
Maddow was good tonight.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | November 16, 2021 4:39 AM |
Maddow seems like she has absolutely had it with Republican antics. She is at her wits end. I don’t blame her. She calls their crap out night after night.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | November 17, 2021 2:37 AM |
She wants to do a once-a-week show.
More of Rachel doing analysis and less of Rachel responding to the latest batshit news is a blessing for me.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | November 17, 2021 2:40 AM |
I know this is a shitty example, but when Bill O'Reilly was let go from Fox, he was replaced by Tucker Carlson. O'Reilly was very popular. Carlson was a douchebag--and sill is. But now O'Reilly is forgotten and Carlson is unfortunately a big star on that disgusting network.
It will be sad to see Rachel gone from the nightly lineup, but MSNBC will have to find someone to replace Rachel. Those will be difficult shoes to fill, but the next person may be great. The next person still may never beat Fox in the ratings. But the time slot will be filled. Personally, I hope Lawrence O'Donnell doesn't leave anytime soon. He's my favorite, but even his days could be numbered in the next two to four years, but I hope not.
I think the difficulty MSNBC has is that the network will lose Rachel and Brian Williams almost at the same time. That's a lot for which the viewer must adjust. Losing one of your stars is difficult; losing two at the same time could weaken the ratings further until things level out.

Oh Joy. Meaning more of that hideous fake-assed lying homophobic cunt Joy
by Anonymous | reply 28 | November 17, 2021 4:31 AM |
The Joy hate plays too much into the blacks vs gays narrative and ive just had enough with the constant division. It’s going out of style. American values and unity are beginning to trend again.

GTFO with your Joy hate-fest.

You heard it here: MSNBC will move Nicolle Wallace into a primetime slot when Rachel Maddow and Brian Williams leave the nightly lineup. Nicolle is on for two hours M-F, 1-3pm PST (4-6pm EST). Nicolle does a very good job. MSNBC won't give her two hours at night, but one of those hours will be hers.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | November 17, 2021 5:36 AM |
AOC show please?
by Anonymous | reply 32 | November 17, 2021 5:37 AM |
that sounds like a good idea r31
She's been getting a lot of press lately.
Williams won't really matter. They could replace him with some lesser known person. I don't think he does welll in the ratings at all.

Paternity leave?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | November 17, 2021 5:42 AM |
GOOD! Fuck her! She's a CUNT and part of the reason why Hillary lost! I pray Rachel gets cancer and dies fast! She deserves it! She fucked over Dems and this country by shitting on Hillary and ass kissing Trump with her non stop attention on him!
by Anonymous | reply 35 | November 17, 2021 5:52 AM |
She's going on a lesbian tour of Tuscany, like the one in "Under the Tuscan Sun". She may buy a nice villa.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | November 17, 2021 6:30 AM |
She'll end up in podcasting.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | November 17, 2021 8:25 AM |
After 4 years of Trump providing easy crazy topic 20 times a day it must be rather tedious and dull trying to put together a show nowadays.

[quote] MSNBC will move Nicolle Wallace into a primetime slot when Rachel Maddow and Brian Williams leave the nightly lineup.
Wallace is one of the most-charisma-free personalities in TV news. Her success is a mystery. The ratings will tank like a motherfucker.
And of course, MSNBC would give a primetime slot to a 'former' Republican. Republicans at night, Republicans in the morning...this is the so-called 'liberal' news network.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | November 17, 2021 10:31 AM |
When Tucker Carlson was on the network did he have a primetime show?
Who else was in primetime? Conservatives?
Being a liberal network is sort of new for them?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | November 18, 2021 3:07 AM |
Wallace at least has the balls and calls out Repigs and their bullshit IN FRONT OF THEM! Unlike CUNT Rachel who throws "suggestions" out and then gives a face at them and that's it. Wallace basically calls them asshole cunts to their face. CUNT Rachel does nothing but HURT Dems at every level especially during election time! I hope she falls into a volcano.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | November 18, 2021 3:17 AM |
It's odd thought that Wallace was the repug who picked Sarah Palin. Sort of makes me feel like she has no core beliefs and just goes where the opportunity is. What was she like on The View? Was she a conservative? Did she clash with the Whoopi and Joy?
(or maybe she just evolved.)
by Anonymous | reply 42 | November 18, 2021 3:26 AM |
her being mean to the gay rodent just makes me like her more.

We don’t need 50 television news programs covering the same “breaking news” stories 24 hrs a day, sensationalizing every tragedy, rambling on endlessly because they’ve ran out of shit to say after the first hour.
It is your focus that is very narrow.

So you don't believe in certain people being allowed to redeem themselves, right? Something tells me you don't hold grudges against far worse people.
Have you ever actually listened to him speak? He does make a lot of very good points.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | November 18, 2021 4:54 PM |
By the time Maddow gets on the air, the breaking news is old news.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | November 18, 2021 4:54 PM |
Her show format is outdated, it was fresh and cool when she started during the Bush admin but it's been over a decade.
She also discredited herself with her reporting on the Mueller investigation. A lot of people got sucked in by the Russian collusion allegations, but she's a professional journalist and should have kept her objectivity. She made a total ass out of herself. At one point the top video of her on YouTube was her crying on live TV when the report was released.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | November 18, 2021 4:59 PM |
The Russian collusion allegations were TRUE. People went to prison for it. The only thing that hasn't been proven is that Russia tampered with actual votes. But Trump and his people were actively and not very covertly working with Russian agents and made no secret of their allegiance to Putin.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | November 18, 2021 5:03 PM |
R49 dumb bullshit was obvious bullshit from the beginning. Charging people with obstruction of an investigation does not Russian agents make.
Democrats wanted an explanation for Clinton's loss that didn't involve any soul-searching or criticism of themselves, so they clung to a myth. Pathetic.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | November 18, 2021 5:08 PM |
This is what I don't get about people who say there was no Russia collusion: Trump would literally let Russian bears on unicycles grab every vote not for him and burn it. It isn't that Trump didn't collude, it's that he could never get away with as much colluding as he would like. I mean how dumb must you be that you don't know by now that Trump is the most unpatriotic American we have ever had as president? He has no respect whatsoever for the institutions of this country. He knows absolutely nothing about the history of this country. Whatever tweet or words he repeated involving an historical figure were drilled into him that day. He's a stupid, shallow, scummy clown whose life is about a pathetic need for constant validation. He doesn't care to be at a memorial for war vets. He wants to be at the Vanity Fair Party after the Oscars.
[quote]Democrats wanted an explanation for Clinton's loss that didn't involve any soul-searching or criticism of themselves, so they clung to a myth. Pathetic.
You want the real answer: An electoral college that once again gave an election to a Republican who couldn't actually win a majority of votes. 8 of 9 times now.
