Henry Cavill is compared to a Westworld robot in Hollywood Reporter coverstory
The Aspergers is supposed to get more pronounced as one gets older.
“‘What is something that you wish you had known at the beginning of your career that you know now?
“This time, Cavill asks for a moment to think about the question. He goes silent. He gazes at the carpet, looking a bit like a Westworld robot that’s powered down. Seconds tick by. Is this awkward? Well, yeah. I’m sitting with Superman in a hotel room and absolutely nothing is happening and it feels like something has gone terribly wrong in this interview, even though it hasn’t (has it?), but damn this is uncomfortable and probably my punishment for not simply asking another Witcher question. The tape recorded Cavill’s contemplative pause as lasting 42 seconds, but I’d have sworn it was at least two minutes.

Henry Cavill is not very animated. Several years ago during the Bucket Challenge (to promote some disease which I've forgotten) he and Superman co-star Amy Adams had buckets of water poured over them and he just sat there and said not one single thing. She did but he was like a robot. I've never forgotten how wooden he was.

The reporter sounds like an insipid asshole, highly unprofessional, immature. He's clearly writing as if he's posting to Gawker or Vice, trying to inject cutesy commentary between the lines, a tired trope that Millennials both crave and popularized.
THR should be embarrassed that this is the caliber of writers they've resorted to having to hire. Cavill may or may not be robotic, awkward, difficult, I don't know. I know nothing about the guy. But the "journalist" who did this story is embarrassing. Not even worthy of a serious college newspaper.

The next Bond will be Henry Golding or Idris Elba. Or perhaps an unknown. Cavill is entirely too white and boring for today's audiences.

Imagine being SO worried about your image that you take 42 seconds of silence to figure out how to answer a fucking simple question because god forbid you say the first thing that comes to your mind. This is why his tv interviews are always so boring - he can’t ever just let the conversation flow.

I don’t think he’s taking the time to formulate a glib PR answer as much as he’s taking the time to formulate ANY answer.
I suspect a similar pause would take place if he went to Starbucks, was told his usual drink was no longer available, and he would have to order something else.

Henry is my number 1 crush but even if he wasn't I'd defend him over that twatty Nick Grimshaw interview.
Those junkets are just so ridiculous, the actors get asked the same questions over and over again and Henry have boring replies to boring questions.
Jimmy Kimmel gets him going.

I agree it is likely to be someone who is non-white, but I think it's extremely unlikely to be Elba. He's 49, and they won't start shooting until next year. That's too old to re-start the franchise again, since they will want someone who can play the role for ten years or longer.
It's far more likely it would be someone younger like Golding or Regé-Jean Page (I am betting on the latter).
I also think if they do go with another white man, Cavill is too associated with both Superman and the Witcher to have him be a THIRD franchise action hero.

I really wish he would shut up about Bond and Superman, at this point it’s just chasing windmills. He has three films in development and a series to occupy his time, it makes him seem retarded to keep going on about things that will never happen.

OMG. Of course he liked it! That’s some high-priced PR he’s paying for there. You think THR was like “Let’s make Henry Cavill our cover boy!” For the 2nd season of a Netflix series? Please. He’s playing Sherlock Holmes as a supporting role to fucking Millie Bobbie Brown? This was his Bond play. Barbara Broccoli may be saying it’s not on until next year but the race is on and he obviously still believes he should be in contention.
But all the stuff they go on about in that interview, military this and military that, those are the very reasons he’s so limited as an actor. He’s a plank of wood.

I feel if he were cast as James Bond it would be a step back for the brand instead of forward. He could have been James Bond in the 90s, he’s a throwback to the pierce brosnan and Timothy dalton bond although in my opinion not as charismatic as brosnan. I just think it would be regressive of them to hire him. He could play bond in an advert maybe, perhaps that would suit him more- a martini advert.

If he were cast as Bond he would be the equivalent of a 21st century Roger Moore without the charm and charisma.

I’d love them to keep surprising people with someone unexpected like they did with Craig. Honestly it was pretty boring to me for so long and when Craig was cast I think It really shook things up. What gets boring now is even their ethnic choices are sort of safe and boring - Henry golding and rege Jean page. Idris is almost too established in my opinion, but I guess he would be more interesting than the other two. I can already see them arching their eyebrows and delivering their lines in a very predictable way.

[quote]I agree it is likely to be someone who is non-white
It won't be anyone nonwhite. That would piss off the bedrock fan base: white males. Neither would it play in China. The US Gen Z fanbois and gurls cheering for it don't comprehend that in the rest of the world -- where 77% of Bond's earnings come from (it's a unique franchise in that respect), whiteness is still seen as beautiful and aspirational, and they enjoy seeing a white man playing the role.

Lie about them being straight, about not being involved with them, etc. Many celebrities are out to family and friends but not to the public.
