R24, The New Adventures Of Old Christine is one of my favorite sitcoms. My (very old) parents used to give me grief when I told them I watched it, but right before my dad died a few years back, he began to watch it (it was on all day on one channel or another) and it was one of the few laughs he had being very sick and house-ridden. He apologized for doubting my taste. My mom and I still quote lines to each other when we talk on the phone.
I hope you get as much enjoyment out of it as my family has! JLD is a treasure.

Two episodes of Doogie Howser, M.D. I saw that it's leaving Hulu tomorrow and thought I'd give it a shot. The pilot had a much more sex-ish moment between 16-year-old Doogie and Nurse Curly than would probably make it past today's censors. I can't wait until the end of this era's prissitude.

The first four seasons or so are some brilliant television. I was in college studying writing, and i was sometimes astonished by how all the elements of an episode would converge by the end.
[quote] The Simpsons
Many think the show was good through the tenth season, but i have 1-15 n DVD (well before D+ made that unnecessary), and i think the show was outstanding for that long. I haven’t watched in at least a dozen years, but when it was ‘on’ the Simpsons was some of the best television Americans ever produced.

I'm watching The Stand. It's passable entertainment, but it's not really as great a series as it should have been considering that the book was excellent. The acting is very uneven. Some actors are very good, some are on the level of soap opera acting, some just chew the scenery mugging for the camera.

It'll make you vaguely queasy, vaguely horny, and somewhat ashamed of yourself." /

Producers considered making Vance (who loved her time at the show) a permanent cast member, but because she was under the Lucy thumb (and tired of it all in general), it never happened.

Yep R172, Peaky Blinders is pretty fantastic. Cillian Murphy is such a beautiful man - oh my God. That FACE. And Tom Hardy - another FACE but a bit obscured in Peaky Blinders. Thomas Shelby and Alfie Solomons are such a good pairing.
I'm wondering if they're really going to do a Peaky movie and if so, will it have Sean Bean from Sheffield in it? He seems a natural fit for the show and his "Snowpiercer" wasn't picked up for a fourth season (which was too bad). It wasn't that great of a show but it was fun and Sean Bean was a lot of fun.

Just watched the 2015 series And Then There Were None. I know the book, my favorite Agatha Christie, and earlier adaptations of it well, but hadn't seen this.
I thought they went a little overboard making it more bloody than necessary, plus all of the 'hauntings' were a bit much.
A cocaine fueled debauch for the final four? Really?
Adding in the gay victim for policeman Blore, who clearly seemed to be closted in this version, was an interesting touch.
Having them strip Aidan Turner down and showing off that chest made up for any faults, though. Such a sexy man.
The casting was also perfect, I wouldn't have changed a thing there.

A couple of years ago 3rd Rock was on one of the cable channels long enough for me to watch it through twice. Terrific comedy writing. And I was very impressed how child actor Joseph Gordon-Levit was able to hold his own against the experienced cast.

They also broadcast three episodes of the show every weekday morning from 6:50am to 8:05am on Channel 4, so if you're in the States that might provide some late night comedy programming to watch.

Just finished "I Love That For You" - could and should have been better, but still deserved time to grow and develop. The core was solid. And the actor who played the boss, Patricia Cochran, was pitch perfect. Probably the best aspect of the show.
I'm about half-way through "Loudermilk" with scruffy sexy puppy Ron Livingston. Again, could and should be better but it has its moments and was given the opportunity to develop through 3 seasons.

I started bingewatching later seasons of NCIS. I wanted to see Fez as Special Agent Nick Torres. I like him a lot. He doesn't remind me of That '70s Show anymore. Also, they replaced Mark Harmon with Gary Cole. I was never able to stand Gibbs, especially when he picked on DiNozzo, which was always, so I enjoyed the absence of Gibbs' assholery.
Then I started watching older episodes with Gibbs/Harmon in them. He still annoys the fuck out of me, but I like the other characters so much by now, I keep watching. Every now and then, I'll find an episode in someone's IMDB where then guested on NCIS. The latest was Spencer Treat Clark (gay boyfriend on Animal Kingdom; Stephen Frame on Another World), and I've been watching the episodes that followed his. Hope he gets a new show soon.

After reading the "Favorite Hymns" thread, I went back to 1991 and started watching Homefront and I'll Fly Away. Watching Homefront makes me sad because my best friend and I used to watch it together, but he died right around the time the second season started.
I'll Fly Away is a little shocking in its use of the "N word", but it is an honest, heartfelt drama about two interconnected families, one white, one black, in Georgia in the late 1950s and early '60s. It's one of my favorite shows of all time, from Joshua Brand and John Falsey, who also created Northern Exposure and St. Elsewhere.
Each of these shows is so much better than anything on TV today. So thanks, "Favorite Hymns" thread starter.
