I think he also got involved in one of the self-dealing scandals in the 80s, maybe the Savings & Loan thing, some kind of petty, stupid misuse of his office. Interesting factoid. Alf Landon, the GOP’s 1936 presidential nominee, lived to 100. Bob Dole, a fellow Kansan & the GOP’s 1996 nominee, is on the cusp of making it to 100.

R31, Dole had a complete facelift shortly AFTER he lost the 1996 election. When asked about it, he denied the facelift and said he simply had a mole removed, ha ha. The eyes sunken into his head in that pic you posted are the result of severe weight loss.
