Now that we are entering fall, I love "hearth" and "Birchwood pine" from NEST.
Also generally enjoy "baies" from Diptyque but that's really pricey.

Witches Brew from Yankee Candle. It's a subtle patchouli smell that only comes out in the fall.

Mrs. Meyers' Acorn Spice, bar none. It is amazing. I have a stockpile of them in my cabinet. They're usually only available in the fall, though they were available on their website all year last year. Anytime I see them in the store, I buy a couple. I am a certified addict. I've seen them around in the last month or two, but the stores that do/don't carry them seems to be inconsistent. I've seen them most often at Target and Fred Meyer (Kroger). Wal-Mart sometimes gets them too.

R3 "Witches' Brew" is one of my favorites as well. Well, it used to be. Yankee candles have no throw anymore, and haven't for years at this point, unfortunately.
Anyway, "Witches' Brew" is just Yankee's "Patchouli" dyed black, with a different label. I was disappointed, but also pleased when I discovered that. I could have it all year long, without buying extras in that seasonal scent!
In addition to the previously mentioned candle, I LOVE Archipelago Botanicals' "Stonehenge", which is similarly dark...
"Create an atmosphere of magic and mystery when you light our Stonehenge Glass Jar Candle. Inspired by the beautiful scenery and mystery behind Stonehenge, we created a fragrance blend of Smoked Cedar, Bergamot, and Amber."
And this one actually has throw.

I don't do candles. My friend's house burned down years ago and ever since I stopped using them. Plus they're a hazard to my cat. I use soy wax melts and they're divine.
I like the "soy DOTS" brand on Amazon. They're high quality, not overpowering like Glade wax melts and they smell divine. My favourites are French lavender and roasted hazelnut espresso.

My favorite is Diptyque's Oliban (Frankincense), which was a Christmas limited edition scent a number of years ago. I was able to find one or two additional candles on eBay or somewhere like that. Smells like church incense, a scent I hated when I actually used to go to church, but now it's nostalgic for me.

BBW/White Barn Pumpkin Patch (it has also been called Perfect Autumn Pumpkin, Heirloom Pumpkin, and Pumpkin Carving through the years.) I also use Wallflowers in that scent year-round. I had a friend move away, join the Army, and then come back to visit 4 years later, and he walked in and said "Your house still smells the same. I missed it." Then he moved away again and I haven't seen him in 5 years. But I hope one day I'll get to see him again so I'll keep my house smelling like Pumpkin Patch.

I'm not such a candle person but after seeing a you-tuber unboxing her favorite scent from Jo Malone I got curious. was looking for a holiday scent that would mimic the scent of a Christmas tree. after doing some research I cam across Yankee candle and decided to give them a try.
well I have to tell you the scent singing carols is like they stole a thousand x-mast tree souls and bottles it in that jar of deliciousness, it took me all the way back to when I was little and would impatiently wait for when we put the tree up.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | November 8, 2021 7:05 AM |
I do like a carefully chosen large Yankee Candle jar candle in my kitchen during the fall and winter months. I like the smell of their Christmas Cookies candle.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | November 8, 2021 10:17 AM |
For Thanksgiving I’m doing Cranberry from Aldi. (It smells great for $3.99) For Christmas season I’ll alternate between balsam fir, spiced gingerbread from White barn. I have a small Nest holiday candle I’ll save for Christmas morning.

I only burn candles when it's cold (October - March) and I don't bother with single or double wick candles as I can barely smell them.
A recent favorite is Hot Cider Donut from Harry Slatkin. It's a beautiful 4-wick candle that smells like a Krispy Kreme store. I hadn't purchased any candles from Bath & Body Works in years but made an exception for Under the Christmas Tree. I think it may be new this year? It smells like Christmas.

R101 unless you have pets, I wouldn't worry about it. Candles don't spontaneously combust (or they SHOULDN'T). I fall asleep on the couch (or pass out from MY edibles, lol) all the time with candles burning. My friend ALWAYS has candles burning...even when she leaves the house (which even I don't do).

My favorite candle is Cypres by Rigaud
“Introduced to the White House by Jacqueline Kennedy in 1960, this is a blend of lavender, the woody, crisp notes of pine needles, and the aroma of cedarwood. This fragrance is deceivingly mild--not at all overwhelming--but a lovely, elegant, fresh scent suitable for any room or occasion.”

I think 1 other person has mentioned Harry Slatkin.
His candles are great. Expensive, though. The jars they come in are worth the price.
The scents are lovely. Wish I had more of them but like I said, very expensive.
