Leah Remini, former Scientologist, was brought into Scientology by her mother. I'm not sure how old Remini was. When Remini left, her family left as well, so she had some support in leaving. But Bella was born into Scientology. Not just Scientology, but top-level, king-status Scientology. Seems like it would be hard for her to break away from that. We shall see.

It would be both easy and hard for Bella to leave the cult. It would be easy because the cult wouldn't try to smear and slander Tom's daughter in the press. But it would be hard because Tom--and her brother--might drop her like a hot potato since she would then be labeled a SP. Then, if she wants any family at all, she'll have to go crawling back to her mother.

For years, people assumed Nicole was the reason for the distant relationship she had with her two oldest kids. Some people insinuated that she dropped the two adopted kids once she had her bio kids with her new husband. But in the past few years, it's been revealed that Scientology handlers worked to convince the kids to turn away from Nicole emotionally because she was a SP for leaving the cult.

Scientology forces its followers to shun their family members--including children and parents--who are not in the cult. If these followers cut off their own relatives, and then they see tabloid photos of Tom having fun at the park with his own SP kid, they might get pissed that he's getting special treatment, and they might insist on seeing their own family members.

Holmes's father is a lawyer. He couldn't talk her out of the marriage but he did get her to delay it for a long time while he worked out legal stimpulations.

Yeah, I'm guessing Katie Holmes had more family support to fight for custody. Plus, that was Katie's biological daughter. Nicole Kidman, not sure what happened, why she became so distanced from her adopted children. Seems like she could have fought for custody. Yes, Tom Cruise had more $$$ than Kidman, but he probably also wanted to avoid scandal (i.e., a custody battle with Kidman).

I remember a scandal (that her angry reps or she leaked to the press) told how a young Scarlet Johanson left an "audition" at Paramount that she thought was for a role in Mission Impossible turned into a deal to make her his girlfriend/baby momma. She stormed out of the studio in tears and word of it was all over.
