Nancy was just a cunt.

Having Nancy Reagan for a mother is a scary thought. Patti and Ron turned out pretty good considering who their parents where. Micheal is an asshole, but he had Nancy as a stepmother and Jane Wyman as an adopted mother. *shiver*

Ron Reagan Jr was so cute when he was young

I tried to shake Maureen’s hand at an event and tell her how much I admired her and and to tell Reagan he had a fan in me, and in the crush of the crowd the cunt remarjked “I’m sorry I’ve Got to go now”, So I yelled back at the. Entitled bitch “I hope you get cancer!”Fucking cow.Ever since then I’ve marveled at the dupes who vote republican, a form of suicide.Republicans suck.

From the way I understand it, Patti had Nancy’s number from an early and she wouldn’t comply with her rules without questioning them. Also, Patti was a female, and Nancy probably wanted to make sure Patti didn’t become too close to Ronnie and muscle in on her turf. And Nancy was knocked up with Patti when she married Ronnie-she was born 7 months after the wedding.

Are you alright, R10?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 1, 2021 3:28 AM |
I can't remember who it was, but someone once said the problem was that Ron Sr. and Nancy adored each other so much there was no love left for anyone else. Ron Jr. got through it by pretty much being the perfect child, but Michael, Maureen, and Patti were pretty much left out in the cold.
In her memoir, Nancy actually complained about Patti crying too much as a baby.
Fortunately both Maureen and Patti reconciled with Nancy when she really needed them when Ron Sr was a vegetable living in Pampers. Maureen had by this time learned to be sweet and friendly to just about everyone (how could she not have learned to be with the world's coldest and most narcissistic mother and stepmother both, neither of whom ever should have had children?), but it took Patti more time. But by the end Nancy and Patti were pretty much reconciled.
My understanding, though, is that Michael always felt rejected and unloved, and is bitter to this day.

Ron is not a Junior. His father was Ronald Wilson Reagan. He is Ronald Prescott Reagan.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 1, 2021 3:51 AM |
r14: Neither is George W. Bush--he is George Walker Bush, while his father was George Herbert Walker Bush.
And yet his parents still always addressed him as "Junior." So let's lay off the petty pedantry, shall we?

R13 I was coming to say that. I remember watching some documentary and all the people for or against the Reagans seemed to agree that Ron and Nancy's relationship didn't really leave much room even for the children.

A problem encountered in so many otherwise blissful marriages.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | October 1, 2021 4:55 AM |
Because was a controlling, dislikable person. Nancy was so concerned about her and her husband's image, that the kids came second. Patti and Nancy couldn't be more different.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | October 1, 2021 5:22 AM |
don't know if this has been said already BUT
Patti actually got along with her mother in their post-presidential years. Ron Jr. had differences with Nancy in her old age and they didn't speak for a while I think (post-Ron's death.)
Nancy was also very close to Maureen who died young. (you know I just remembered seeing Maureen at a book store I worked at as a teen. This would have been summer 1989. She was all alone. Those secret service really just leave the presidential kids as soon as the father is out of office.
Patti had Secret Service in 1981. She was on CNN the other day recounting the day Reagan was shot. She was in a therapist's office and they barged in. She said her first impulse was DAMN I can't even see a therapist in privacy. Then they told her there had been a shooting. He'd only been in office a few months so having the secret service around must have been quite new to her and intrusive.

Why WOULDN'T anyone hate Nancy Reagan?!
by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 1, 2021 5:35 AM |
Patti wrote a mommie dearest type book about her family in the early 90s then shortly afterwards posed for playboy. I remember patti telling Larry king that Nancy and Nancy Sinatra senior ran into each and talked about how they had heard how great their daughters looked in playboy or something like that.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 1, 2021 5:40 AM |
Patti did a lot of writing back in the day, articles and books. I remember reading one of her articles where she mentioned her penchant for masturbation. I loved her for that, mostly because I knew it would embarrass her snobby mother. Nancy disowned Patti for a while while she was living with Bernie Leadon of the Eagles. Patti also posed nude in Playboy, further straining her parental relationship. You can find nude photos of her online.
I know a guy who was in the military and worked as part of the Reagan military escort detail while he was president. He said Ronald was personable and friendly to everyone and Nancy was a bitch.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 1, 2021 7:06 AM |
Considering most people hated Nancy Reagan, it shouldn't be puzzling that her own daughter would also hate her.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | October 1, 2021 7:10 AM |
Patti seemed to enjoy embarrassing her parents. One of the rare acting roles she got was in the male stripper movie with Gregory Harrison.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 1, 2021 7:35 AM |
For all her sluttery, Patti never developed her cocksucking to the same level as her mother.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | October 1, 2021 7:44 AM |
"Did Ron JR feel he had to be perfect to prevent from being abandoned by his parents? "
Probably more a "go along to get along" attitude. Nancy and Patti's abrasive relationship probably sucked a lot of energy out of the family dynamic
". Patti and Nancy couldn't be more different."
My guess is they're probably more alike then different. Both seem headstrong and determined to get their way. Where as dad and son were more easy going and accommodating

R32, there’s this thing that some women do. They suck up to men; especially important ones. They flatter and flirt and dote. And they will spend the barest effort to acknowledge the women around them. If they spare any warmth for a woman, it’s because they can be of use to the queen bee.
I think it’s a poor way to operate, but these women do seem to make their way upward.

Bad enough that he didn't even deign to attend her funeral.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | October 1, 2021 3:03 PM |
Nancy hated Michael and felt he was an embarrassment. Nancy didn’t allow him to have a bedroom at their house as a child and kept him at arms length.
At Michael’s wedding in the seventies there was a Mexican standoff between Jane Wyman and Nancy over pictures.
According to the Kitty Kelley book, Nancy was worried about Michael’s memoir, which came out a year after Patti wrote that Roman a clef about the family and her abortions.
Nancy decided to offer her support to Michael publicly after she found out that he completely trashed Jane Wyman in the book, and discussed his childhood sexual abuse at the hands of a camp counselor. She was quoted as saying, “ I knew he had problems, but not as bad as this,” or something to that effect.

Patti attended a private ranch school in AZ during her high school years. You can imagine the stories.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | October 1, 2021 5:06 PM |
Patti used to tell people she was not having children because she wanted “to kill the gene pool.”
Michael had two children, and Maureen adopted a black girl in the 90s, who apparently Reagan in his Alzheimer’s addled state really adored. Funny to think that one of the few people offering that old racist love and comfort in his final years was a black woman.

Over the years I've posted this a few times in various Pattie Davis threads. In The Reagans miniseries with Judy Davis and James Brolin, Patti Davis' character is arguing with her parents and she tells them that she had her tubes tied, because she will not bring a baby into a world run by her father.
For a long time I took it as fact, but I've never been able to verify it.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | October 1, 2021 5:51 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 61 | October 1, 2021 5:54 PM |
Nancy was an expert register. She had a closet in the White House full of crap given to the Reagans that she didn’t want and she would dump on others.
One year for Christmas she fished out a teddy bear from that closet and gave it to Michael’s son. In fact, it belonged to Michael’s son already ; he had left it behind when they visited the White House months prior.

Nancy Reagan was an ice cold bitch, but as another poster said she kept the real lunatics in Reagan's administration from exerting too much influence over him so there is that. She also thought the Evangelicals that Reagan courted were trash and wanted nothing to do with them so that's another thing you can say about her.

Little known fact about the great romance between Nancy and Ron: Ronny was with another woman the night Patti was born.
My source is Bill O'Reilly's book "Killing Reagan" which I read to find out about Hinckley. (so not a left wing smear job, it came from the former poster boy for the right. He said he got a lot of flack from his people for publishing this fact.)

All I know is after the assasination attempt by Bush family friend, Hinckley, Nancy hated Barb and avoided her at all costs.

Nancy and Bar didn't like each other and were only in the same room together when it was absolutely necessary as a matter of protocol. Other than that, they didn't communicate. Bar thought Nancy was nouveau riche trash (which she was) and Nancy thought Bar was an East Coast blueblooded snob who looked down her nose at anyone who was not "of her class." (which she was).

It is not "Oedipal" for a wife who gains her position completely from her husband to set her primacy with him, especially with a daughter who was faux-hippified and indiscreetly mouthy. And don't forget that Reagan was a cipher even for Nancy.

Neither of Nancy's two bio kids had children of their own. Lots of people who were raised by narcissists or borderline parents choose not to reproduce so that they can break the cycle and focus on mending their own wounds. (Ronald Reagan had two kids with Jane Wyman. The adopted son had two children. Their daughter adopted a child.) Thus, the Ronald and Nancy's bloodline will end with their children.)
I think that Ron is pretty interesting. He dropped out of Yale to become a ballet dancer. HIs parents didn't attend any of his performances until the press guilted them. At age 22, he married a woman who was 5 years older than him, and the marriage lasted 34 years, until his wife passed away from a disease.
He became an atheist at age 12, and he appears in "Freedom from Religion Foundation" commercials that you've probably seen on TV.
