Why do doctors offices weigh you when you go in, but then ask what your height is?

I understand the weight aspect of it, but who the F measures their own height regularly? As if that's even practical to try to do. Put a freaking measuring tape on the wall next to the scale and call it a day.

Mine measures height as well.

by Anonymousreply 1September 27, 2021 12:23 AM

They’re bitches

by Anonymousreply 2September 27, 2021 12:25 AM

They measure ht to make sure the spine isn't deforming with the dreaded C-slump that sets in with a desk job or to make sure you're not shrinking from osteoporosis or other osteoarthritic problems. Maintaining height = maintaining health.

Did you read the OP r3?

by Anonymousreply 4September 27, 2021 12:38 AM

I haven’t had my height measured by the doc since I was a kid

by Anonymousreply 5September 27, 2021 12:39 AM

I can't remember that last time a doctor measured my height either. Been several decades.

I have, however, had to put my height on doctors forms many times. So, apparently they trust that I am being honest on the form.

Some times when they weight and they always measure my height they make me take my shoes off, some times they don't. So my height and weight fluctuates. I am a guy, it isn't like am wearing high heels.

Yes, and beyond the headline was a question about continued height checks, as if it's an uncommon practice. When at a certain age the number will change without effort. Height also some arbitrary factor, so keeping current records helps them figure out what is happening with the body.

by Anonymousreply 8September 27, 2021 12:49 AM

^also isnt

by Anonymousreply 9September 27, 2021 12:50 AM

“but then ask what your height is?”

Mister, they ask your height because you refuse to remove your Manolo Blahniks.

by Anonymousreply 10September 27, 2021 1:07 AM

They take your weight because all of you whores would just lie and say you're petites or sample size. You can't lie about your height. Most people can guess how tall you are just by looking.

by Anonymousreply 11September 27, 2021 1:21 AM

Exactly r11.

They have to weigh because so many people would give bullshit answers on their weight. Often people don't even know the truth.

Your height isn't changing all the time OP, they expect you to know how damn tall you are.

It’s the corporate takeover of most doctors offices now equals lazy and bare minium standards as long as the money is rolling in. It’s all about pushing the pricey rx now with the constant tests and they have figured out a way to maximize every dollar from the insurance companies.

by Anonymousreply 13September 27, 2021 1:45 AM

I chuckled, I’m under tall, eh, doc? And he looked at me very seriously and said you are morbidly obese! The paperwork when I left the office had my numerical weight but my height as weeble.

by Anonymousreply 14September 27, 2021 2:00 AM

Doctor's scales used to have built-in devices for measuring height. I guess they still make them.

They want to make sure that you know you are a disgusting fatty and will never be loved by anyone.

by Anonymousreply 16September 27, 2021 2:13 AM

I have no desire to learn I have shrunk with age.

by Anonymousreply 17September 27, 2021 3:19 AM

I just want to get naked and not have to put on those silly gowns.
