At first I thought it was strange to see her with such hair but I remember she chopped it all off in 2004 during her crazy years.

The surgeon got her nose crooked. Or maybe it's the best he could do. I know she got a tiny nose in the mid-90s for her burgeoning movie career (which burgeoned-out). Then she got one that better fit her face. But it's been slightly crooked ever since, with what looks like a scar on its right side. Maybe she had destroyed it doing coke?

I think given all the plastic surgery she’s had over the years, she doesn’t look so freakish. I mean she looks better than Madonna and they’re only a few years apart.

There’s nothing I don’t like about a brown, 1975 going-to-the-office outfit. It makes me think of the film 9 to 5. It’s unusual for her, and interesting.

I don't think so. One of them definitely looks smaller. I guess it's from all the plastic surgery. She's had a ton of it.

I actually like it. I hope Courtney keeps it. A few years back Pam Anderson had a fantastic chic pixie cut as well. It suited her beautifully but within a couple of months she reverted back to that horrid stringy blonde weave.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 20, 2021 5:34 AM |
Yikes. Cubicle frau alert!
I’ve said it on here before; to pull off a pixie haircut, a woman must have exquisite features. Chinless Michelle Williams doesn’t pull it off. Marion Cotilliard in Annette does. Mia Farrow pulled it off. Courtney Love cannot pull it off..
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 20, 2021 5:37 AM |
It will fool some of the people into not noticing her latest plastic surgery.
To really carry off a pixie cut one has to have a truly beautiful face, which Courtney doesn't have, but it looks okay.

We are sympatico, R33, I must have learned from your earlier posts on this subject.
It worked on Audrey Hepburn - perfect.
Terrible on Halsey, Scarlett Johanssen, Katy Perry, really terrible on Ruby Rose, Kristen Wiig (facelift distraction?), Jennifer Hudson, Lens Dunham, AnnE Hathaway as a blonde and a brunette, Emma Watson, Gwyneth Paltrow - it looks awful on most women but they all insist on trying it.
More proof that a lot of actresses have very few female friends. Someone needs to tell them "Oh honey, no!"

A pixie haircut, like the bob associated with Louise Brooks (actually Colleen Moore wore that look before Brooks) and the cornrows worn by Bo Derek, only really looks good on a woman with beautiful, delicate features. And Courtney Love does NOT have them. Her face is weird due to all the plastic surgery and this new haircut , which I guess she thinks is SO fashionable, only emphasizes that.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | September 20, 2021 6:41 AM |

She did a lot of lot of English tea party like media during lockdown. She's being all lady like in her dotage. I find it off-putting. I don't need her high and drunk but her current persona is just weird.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | September 21, 2021 3:57 AM |
Largely all I've seen her do during lockdown is post pictures and videos to Instagram with her and her dog. She seems to be living a nice quiet ex-pat life in London now, good for her. There's hardly anything English tea party/fake about it, imo. Age how you want! Until a minute ago she had pink hair and was doing Britney Spears covers on YouTube.

by Anonymous | reply 57 | September 21, 2021 4:41 PM |
You've obviously missed Marianne's career if you think she didn't write any of her own songs.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | September 21, 2021 4:52 PM |
She's kind of cute here, but maybe it's just her awkward smiling. I don't think the haircut itself looks *amazing*, but she looks healthy and happy, and in her career has always been better with a make-under rather than a makeover. Obviously she has had some surgery (lol at the DL sleuths thinking this is brand new information), but given her years of hard living and personal tragedy, she looks surprisingly good. I mean the woman is on her 9th life at this point, it's a miracle she even made it out of her teen years.
I do agree with the posters who mentioned what a strange pivot her life seems to have taken. She has always been an Anglophile, but seeing her cosplay as a posh lady who reads poetry and drinks tea and takes photos of her pomeranian is funny. I guess she's living another one of her fantasy lives, and this one is pretty harmless so good for her. I wonder if she will ever return to music or acting, there are not many genuine female rock stars these days (or male, for that matter).
by Anonymous | reply 59 | September 21, 2021 4:57 PM |
Emma Watson looked cute with the pixie. It helps to be young and petite. Winona Ryder really rocked the look in the 90s.
Weirdly, it works on Judi Dench, who was never a beauty even when young.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | September 21, 2021 5:00 PM |
I think Judi Dench wore the pixie cut even when she was young. I googled her one time. It does look good on her....you wouldn't think so, but it works. Usually, you need to have a petite face with good cheekbones and features. I always like this cut on women. It's chic and stylish.

Courtney always had a more natural way to pull off extreme looks than Madonna. Madonna had good and wide range of taste - "high and low" taste - when she was young - but lost it as a superstar. Courtney could always pull off classy and trashy looks with flair. This is key to why Courtney was a better actress, as well.

Does Courtney have cancer? She posted this slide of photos today, the first of which is a chair in a hospital, and mentions in the caption that it's "Infusion day... studies/honors/amusements/ various Genius… Things to ponder & to learn." Given her recent haircut, I cannot help but wonder if she is going through chemo. Also taking into account her social media as of late, which seems to be very grace-minded and nostalgic. It makes me worry that she could be dying.

R95 she's anemic but for some reason when she announced it a few months ago she said she was fixed by a pain management doctor, so I don't know what exactly these "infusions" are. You'd think iron (or B12 for pernicious anemia) but she very clearly says she finally found a pain management doctor who would deal with her after "quacks" wouldn't treat her because she was an addict.
I don't know what kind of pain meds you need for anemia.

I think she looked her best around 1991 after nose job #1. Aside from the big schnoz, she always had decent features. The fillers circa 1998 (when Celebrity Skin came out) left her looking a bit Tara Reid-ish for a moment, I thought. Things got crazy around the early 2000s.
by Anonymous | reply 114 | October 7, 2021 10:06 PM |
Who is she fucking now? She's had quite a diverse bunch of lovers, the actors Edward Norton and Steve Coogan come to mind.
Coogan claimed their affair never happened, then again, he's had his share of serious drug problems and sex scandals. They supposed 'dated' while they were both fucked up on drugs. Coogan probably doesn't remember much.

[quote] Coogan claimed their affair never happened, then again, he's had his share of serious drug problems and sex scandals. They supposed 'dated' while they were both fucked up on drugs. Coogan probably doesn't remember much.
I think he'd remember fucking Courtney Love. A lot of men who were supposedly her lovers denied that that were, Trent Reznor and Russell Crowe being two prominent examples. I believe them. She's told so many lies; she claimed to have been impregnated by Reznor and Crowe, and either aborted or miscarried their babies. What bullshit. Even Edward Norton has distanced himself from her. He's not claiming they were nothing but "friends." Not according to her! She said he gave her a ruby engagement ring. In the movie "Kurt and Courtney" her father told the filmmaker she said she was getting married. "Who to?" "Edward Norton." She late accused him of stealing $300, 000 from her and Frances Bean. But later she sort of kind of apologized for accusing him, saying "I have the greatest respect for Edward. He could be the President of the United States. I could be his drug czar." She is indeed crazy.
by Anonymous | reply 116 | October 8, 2021 12:52 AM |
I don't know about Russell, he's had plenty of affairs etc. that were swept under the table (I remember him buying the CCTV tapes from the hotel after Azealia Banks said he called her the N word and choked her... I assume she was up there with him as some form of sex thing). Men lie when it suits them about not having had sex with someone.
I think Courtney looked best just after Live Through this when she cleaned herself up, but still looked like herself with her big, sharp, almost masculine features. I'm talking about pre-Celebrity Skin days. Even in the Gold Dust Woman video where she was brunette around 96 or 97, or this Ellen Von Unwerth shoot.

Not in Courtney Love's case. Have you ever seen her original face? Her nose was huge, a shapeless lump. I think she's had work on every feature of her face, probably more than once. Her at this stage doesn't look "good", it looks strange. She's also had major work on her teeth' I heard she spent $40,000 on veneers. But none of it made into a beauty. You can't make a silk purse out f a sow's ear, as the old saying goes.

Courtney's current face, still looks much better than Madonna's and I'm not a fan of either of these women, but I will admit when someone looks good. Courtney looks fine.
Speaking of Madonna, she was on Fallon last night, acting like the asshole she is, lifting up her short dress and flashing her odd looking fake ass. Then, she was splayed across Fallon's desk. How old is she again?
I was shocked Madonna's face didn't look as Amanda Lapore-ish and alien-like in the Fallon appearance. Someone needs to tell her to stop using those bizarre filters at her IG. Her face didn't look as tightly pulled as in her IG photos, she basically didn't look like an alien, she almost looked normal. Sure, you could tell she's had work done, but her face didn't look as severe and odd as it does at her IG.

She is, after all, a woman of a certain age now and I think the hair looks good and the outfit is okay. Too bad about the wonk eye, though. It really looks wonky in that IG orange dress picture.

R128 the problem is that Madonna has never really grown up—she has the mentality of a twentysomething still. Courtney has admitted fumbled and fucked up more times than anyone could count along the way, but she at least strives to be mature and have some class. She's still a kook and an addict, but she tries. Madonna, on the other hand, just continues to exploit and humiliate herself with no sense of dignity in sight.

This thread sent me on a YouTube rabbit hole (no pun intended) of old Hole performances. I was too young to see them at their peak, but I have seen her live in more recent years, and her stage presence when I've seen her has always been very powerful. I can only imagine the raw energy of those earlier shows (and also the drug-addled soap opera of the Live Through This-era concerts).
As much as people want to hate her, I don't think you can deny that Courtney has star power. She is naturally charismatic in a playful, almost bratty kid-sister way, and she's funny. She often brings that same playful energy to the stage, but weaves it into her rage and really bares it all—there is almost always a sense that things could fly off the rails at any moment. Even when the performance sucks, there is still something enthralling about it.

I don't think it can be called "star power." She has a pathological need for attention and will do anything to get it. That makes people notice her. She got to be famous on sheer determination and marrying Kurt Cobain. As a talent I don't think she's ever been much. I'd say she's been very lucky. She was in right place at the right time.

Her face looks like she’s had a hundred surgeries. I’ve been spending a lot of time looking at old people because it’s coming down the pike for me. I’m comparing the faces who are untouched with the faces of the altered. It been very interesting, and I’m not convinced that there’s anything to be done about most aging.

Madonna's face looked good/normal on Fallon. Of course it's taped back under the wig, but everyone does that.
The super closeups of her face from fan videos at the Red Rooster also looked good.

The hair is okay, but she stole that outfit from my 75-year old grandma's closet.

Mia, Halle & Audrey wore it best. Honorable mention to Jean Seberg & Winona.
I always loved this picture from the 1998 VMAs, it's so 90s.

Courtney would have disappeared LONG ago did she not have mountains of nirvana cash to keep her well tended, even through her most strung out insane years. Her "career" would have been in ashes, and she probably would be dead at 40.

I think she actually did try to commit suicide on her 40th birthday? Or was put on suicide watch? carried off to rehab? It was a story at the time, I recall a picture of her being carried away on a stretcher. Quite sad.
I actually wonder about her money situation now. Obviously she gets a piece of the Nirvana pie ($$$), and I do think Hole's music does well compared to other 90s female bands (placements, radio airplay, streaming royalties), but from all her legal troubles and ramblings about lawyers and managers thieving her dry, I wonder what her wallet is actually looking like these days. It's a miracle she hasn't done a full Toni Braxton, financially.

R143 she's attempted suicide a couple of times from what I can gather. As you say, she tried on her 40th birthday in New York (when she was at the height of her cocaine/crack binge), after which she got carted off to Bellevue Hospital; I believe shortly after that happened, she intentionally overdosed on heroin in a hotel in LA,, but someone saved her; I think I remember her saying that this violated her parole and she ended up getting sentenced to lockdown rehab because of it.
Her financial situation is fascinating. There are some who theorize she's been in England for the past two years to avoid paying her debts to the IRS, which is possible (she also has been working on an album there, so who knows). She has claimed for years to have been fucked over by attorneys and accountants who have surreptitiously bled money out of the Nirvana estate. From around 2005–2010, she was utterly obsessed with this, and would ramble about it incoherently to anyone who would listen. Some of it was so insane, I almost believe it to be true.
In any event, the share she has of the Nirvana publishing rights (even after she's sold off some of it) should easily ensure that she'll never go without money in her lifetime. The only problem is that she seems to be a big spender, so she gets herself in trouble by living beyond her means (which is really saying something). I know Frances, who owns around 40% of the Nirvana publishing, gets nearly $100k/month—Courtney sold off a chunk of her rights for $50 million some years ago, so I'm not sure how much the Nirvana publishing nets her a month these days, but it has to be substantial.
