Brian Laundrie—Guilty, guilty, guilty!

Part 2–let’s continue our debate. Did he kill Gabby? Or did he kill her?

Part 1 below.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 600September 20, 2021 9:07 PM

Of course he killed her. The question is, did he also kill those two lesbians?

He got in a fight with Gabby at the store where one of the lesbians worked. The cops were called.

Is he guilty of more than one murder?

by Anonymousreply 1September 18, 2021 6:36 PM

Thank you for starting a new thread. DEATH to the old one.

“A problem repeatedly occurred on [the first thread]“

Well, that webpage and its “problem” can suck Brian Laundrie’s musky asshole!

by Anonymousreply 2September 18, 2021 6:45 PM

Yes, we all agree he killed her. But when are his nude pics gonna be released?

by Anonymousreply 3September 18, 2021 6:47 PM

Brian's 50 Roads Weekend

by Anonymousreply 4September 18, 2021 6:51 PM

I think we can all agree it’s okay to forego waiting until he’s actually “caged meat,” and just start lusting after him right now. He’s clearly guilty of murder, and HOT.

That picture of his VPL at R493 in the last thread sealed the deal for me.

I can see why she put up with his schizophrenia.

copy/pasting my last few comments from the other thread:
The North Port Police Department, FBI, and agency partners are currently conducting a search of the vast Carlton Reserve for Brian Laundrie. His family says they believe he entered the area earlier this week. More details when available.
The North Port Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigations are currently searching for 23-yr-old Brian Laundrie of North Port. The attorney for the Laundrie family called FBI investigators Friday night indicating the family would like to talk about the disappearance of their son. The family now claims that they have not seen Brian since Tuesday of this week.
Brian is described as:
-White Male
-5’8 160lbs
-Brown eyes
-Short brown hair
-trimmed facial hair
-Last seen wearing a hiking bag with a waist strap.
We understand the community’s frustration, we are frustrated too. For six days, the North Port Police Department and the FBI have been pleading with the family to contact investigators regarding Brian’s Fiancé Gabby Petito. Friday is the first time they have spoken with investigators in detail. It is important to note that while Brian is a person of interest in Gabby’s disappearance, he is not wanted for a crime. We are not currently working a crime investigation. We are now working a multiple missing person investigations.

I assumed that her body was back in UT/WY but I'm beginning to think that he decided to move her body in the van and disposed of it somewhere along the drive back to FL. Probably closer to UT, since it wasn't getting pleasant in that van, and to minimize the risk of being caught with it on a long drive. That might explain why he hitchhiked - he didn't want to move the van with her visible body inside. And when the couple that picked him up indicated they were going farther away from his preferred destination, he freaked because he knew the van could not be left unattended for that long, so he screamed at them to pull over and let him out. The purpose of hitchhiking into town was to get supplies (shovel? plastic bags? lime?) to help dispose/hide of the body.
The lists on Petito’s account bear labels including “Colorado,” “Utah,” “craters to Teton,” “near Yellowstone,” “from Yellowstone to Glacier” and “to Washington.” The “Utah” list includes 32 locations, far more than any of the other lists.
Petito’s social media accounts confirm she visited many of the Utah locations marked in her “Utah” list in The Dyrt app.
One of Petito’s reviews on The Dyrt was for a primitive camping area just east of U.S. Highway 191 in Utah’s Grand County. That location, on the outskirts of Arches National Park, was one of several in the vicinity of Moab, Utah marked by Gabby Petito.
Gabby Petito wrote this review of a primitive camping area just west of Arches National Park in Grand County, Utah on July 29, 2021.
The Moab area is significant in Petito and Laundrie’s travels, as it was the place where they had an encounter with police on Aug. 12...
…Police reports and body camera footage show Moab police believed Petito had been the aggressor in the emotional situation. An officer separated the couple overnight, leaving Petito with their van while Laundrie checked in to a hotel.
The COLD team cannot confirm where Petito camped that night, however her The Dyrt account provides some potential clues. Petito had flagged possible campsites on U.S. 128 along the Colorado River, as well as in the Porcupine Rim area of the Manti-La Sal National Forest.
The Porcupine Rim site sits roughly five miles north of the place where, on Aug. 18, deputies from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office located the bodies of Crystal Turner and Kylen Schulte. Turner and Schulte had been reported missing two days earlier.

[...]
Petito had marked potential camping sites in Utah’s Skull Valley. Petito’s list in the app titled “craters to Teton” suggests she and Laundrie might have visited or planned to visit Craters of the Moon National Monument in southeastern Idaho after leaving Utah.
Petito and Laundrie might also have driven to Palisades Reservoir along the Snake River before entering into southwestern Wyoming en route to Grand Teton National Park. Petito had eyed potential camping spots east of the park, in locations that would afford scenic views of the park’s iconic peaks.
Petito’s last communications with family members are believed to have occurred in this vicinity. She reportedly told her family she was headed from Teton area to Yellowstone National Park shortly before she disappeared.
Gabby Petito’s list on The Dyrt for “near Yellowstone” includes a location in between Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, in the John D. Rockefeller Memorial Parkway. The location sits in a meadow along Glade Creek a little over two miles southeast of Grassy Lake Reservoir.
The next site to the north on Petito’s “near Yellowstone” list is a backcountry campsite, labeled 4R1, within the heart of Yellowstone National Park. Unlike many of the locations Petito had marked on the app, the 4R1 site was not a place where she and Laundrie could have camped out of their van.
Yellowstone’s 4R1 requires a short hike in from the Canyon Village area of the park. 4R1 sits on Ribbon Lake, near the south rim of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. An overnight stay at 4R1 would have required Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie to obtain a permit from the National Park Service. The COLD team cannot confirm whether or not the couple obtained such a permit or hiked in to Ribbon Lake.
Petito’s lists on The Dyrt suggest she’d expected to exit Yellowstone National Park via the park’s west entrance. Her next place mark was the Targhee Creek Trailhead along U.S. Highway 20 east of Henry’s Lake State Park in Idaho.

And the last thing I'll re-post:
”He approached us asking for a ride because he needed to go to Jackson and we were going to Jackson that night. So I said, ya know, 'hop in' and he hopped in the back of my Jeep," Baker said. "He offered to pay us like, $200 to give him a ride like 10 miles. So, that was kind of weird."
"He said he had been camping for multiple days without his fiance," Baker recalled. "And that she was working on their social media page back at their van."
Baker said when she mentioned to Laundrie that they were driving to Jackson Hole, Laundrie "freaked out" and asked them to pull over and he exited the Jeep.
Baker said they let him out near Jackson Dam in Grand Teton National Park.
"It was a weird situation," Baker said. "When we picked him up he was wearing a backpack, he had a long sleeve, pants, hiking boots, and he had like, scruff. Um, but, he didn't look dirty. For someone who was camping for multiple days, like, he didn't look dirty, he didn't smell dirty. So that part was kind of weird."
In a second video, Baker said Laundrie allegedly told her that he and Gabby were camping along Snake River, on an unregulated campground, "basically out in the middle of nowhere."
Laundrie allegedly told them he had been "hiking for days along Snake River."
Baker then recalled how unprepared Laundrie looked for someone who had been hiking and camping outside for days.
"Looking at his backpack. It wasn't full," Baker said. "He said all he had was a tarp to sleep on. Which, you think if you're going camping for days on end you'd want food and a tent and he had none of that."
In a third video, Baker showed a map of their alleged journey with Laundrie and pointed out where they dropped him off at a turn-out road next to Jackson Dam.
"He said he was going to walk across the street to the parking lot, which was full of people, to continue hitchhiking," Baker said.
Baker described Laundrie's demeanor as "very nice, very polite" and calm.
In a fourth TikTok video on Friday, Baker clarified that she had been in "constant contact" with the FBI in the days prior to her posting the videos.
"Everything I have told you, [The FBI does] know," said Baker. "I'm just putting this out here to maybe reach people who had seen him that day, or maybe, had been in contact with him after me and my boyfriend had been in contact with him."
Three days after this alleged encounter Brian Laundrie was back at his parent's home in North Port, Florida where he retained a lawyer and has not spoken to law enforcement.

by Anonymousreply 16September 18, 2021 7:27 PM

Does it make me a bad person that if my brother came to me for help after he murdered someone, I would turn him in to the police?

by Anonymousreply 17September 18, 2021 7:28 PM

No, R17, a lot of people would do that. They'd probably give him a chance to get away but they'd still turn him in.

by Anonymousreply 18September 18, 2021 7:34 PM

I would too, R17. Aside from anything else, I wouldn’t fancy 20 years inside for being an accessory after the fact.

by Anonymousreply 26September 18, 2021 7:57 PM

Re my remote viewing linked post at R24,

In north area of Grand Teton park, A wooded roadside rest area with picnic table and wooden shack, on high cliff overlooking a view of tall trees and lake, climbed over guardrail to stand on rocks, arguing and shoving each other, slipped off the rocks and fell down through tall trees and died instantly when she hit a boulder below.

Lying face up on dirt and rocks, wearing sneakers, jeans shorts, tank top, and a jacket or hoodie tied around her waist. In same or general area that a missing skier named Wyatt was found.

Will be interesting to see if it turns out to be correct. Sounds a bit too predictable and therefore not valid IMHO.
What a shitty family to have helped him escape

Apparently the apple didn't fall far from the tree.

by Anonymousreply 30September 18, 2021 8:17 PM

R29, I summarized what the remote viewer/psychic predicted at R27. Not saying it's true or not as it's a little too predictable for me given the recent rash of selfies gone wrong while hiking & camping. Just that it's interesting.

Lots of wild internet and YouTube stories too. Claims that Gabie is actually bisexual and was seen sleeping in the van while camping in Grand Teton with another woman in late August. Or that her BFF who made a statement about Brian's irrational over possessiveness and was supposed to meet up with Gaby on 8/29 or 8/30 was really her part-time lover. Suggestions re that's what caused overly jealous Brian to flip.

by Anonymousreply 31September 18, 2021 8:23 PM

I know it doesn't relate to the disappearance but has anyone mentioned why they moved to Florida and lived with the Laundries?
The police said they learned on Friday night that Mr. Laundrie was missing after detectives went to [italic]the home in North Port that Mr. Laundrie shares with Ms. Petito and his parents.[/italic]

[...]
Ms. Petito and Mr. Laundrie left New York on July 2 for what was supposed to be a four-month cross-country trip visiting national parks, said Ms. Petito’s stepfather, Jim Schmidt.

[...]
Ms. Petito, the oldest of six siblings, had been working as a pharmacy technician to save money for the trip. She met Mr. Laundrie at Bayport-Blue Point High School on Long Island, Mr. Schmidt said. They began dating after graduation and moved two years ago to Florida, he said.

Also revisiting this interview with Gabby’s mother:
Schmidt told DailyMail.com that she's now questioning everything and looking at things through a new lens.
’Maybe the relationship wasn't what I thought,' she said.
She said she can't understand why neither Brian nor his parents have reached out to her in the aftermath of her daughter's disappearance.

[…]
She's also questioning Brian's trip back to Florida in August to help his father move their belongings out of a storage unit.
[bold]Brian left Gabby in the Fairfield Inn in Salt Lake City and flew back home to Florida from August 17 to the 23 to help his father empty out a storage unit where he and Gabby had their things.[/bold]
According to Schmidt, Brian's father offered to let them keep their belongings at his house so they wouldn't have to pay for the storage unit.
He left Gabby at the hotel so she, understandably, wouldn't be alone in the van. Brian then flew back to Utah and they left the hotel together on August 24.
’Where are her things?' she asked.
Asked why Brian chose to lawyer up, she replied, 'You know I wish I knew that answer, why.'
’I know that's the reason this story is so sought after is because it's odd. The police have said it's very odd. We don't know what's going on, and where is my daughter. I just want to find her.
Gabby Petito’s father was involved in a "public service" incident report at her fiancé Brian Laundrie’s home on Sept. 10, nine days after he returned to Florida without her from a cross-country road trip and a day before she was reported missing by her mother, according to heavily redacted police reports.

^nevermind it said the family didn’t know he was home from the trip

by Anonymousreply 46September 18, 2021 10:04 PM

My (admittedly worthless and totally shallow) read on this guy is that he's not the suiciding kind. He's hiding or in the process of running away. His own family might rat him out if they get worried enough about his welfare (either suicide or an inability to survive on his own in the wilderness, assuming that may be where he's fled).

The girl is dead and the vibe from the police video is, to me, a classic young, pretty and low self-esteem female hooking up with a troubled, dark triad male who instinctively knows how to use the girl's teariness and instability against her, including in interactions with others. Emotionally unstable straight men often get away with their emotional instability a lot longer than their female counterparts. They keep the instability within the relationship and continue to come across to others/outsiders as the stable, mature one.

I'm not even saying she didn't get physical or that she wasn't troubled herself. Look at her though. You don't even have to believe there is ever any excuse for violence to see she isn't capable of inflicting physical harm on an adult male.

by Anonymousreply 47September 18, 2021 10:07 PM

Unless Laundrie has been unusually careless, they'll never find Gabby's body.

This is a typical bit of Wyoming landscape, if I told you I'd dumped a small adult body somewhere in this picture without burying it, how could you ever find it? Every rock, tree, or shrub is large enough to hide the remains of a small adult, and there'd be no way to find it except to cover every bit of this area with searchers and corpse-sniffing dogs. Except that most of Wyoming is the same lightly populated scrubland where nobody's going to stumble across the body by accident, and if he took the trouble to dig a shallow grave and cover it with pebbles and twigs the difficulty to finding the body goes up x10.

by Anonymousreply 49September 18, 2021 10:14 PM

Agree, R48

by Anonymousreply 50September 18, 2021 10:20 PM

She DOES seem like the kind who'd use threats of self-harm to manipulate others, though. However, HE seems like the kind who'd eventually lose his patience, tell her to just do it already, then angrily storm off.

It wouldn't surprise me if it were something COMPLETELY fucked up, like...

* she tried to manipulate him by threatening to harm herself (probably for the N+1th time)

* he got mad, told her to just DO IT ALREADY, and stormed off.

* she killed herself in a way calculated to make it look like he murdered her... possibly counting on the fact that once he found out, he'd do literally EVERYTHING wrong and dig himself even deeper into trouble.

* he eventually discovered that she went through with it, and reacted exactly according to her plans.

Of course, it's also possible that she died accidentally (in a way that made him look partially blameworthy), or that he literally did kill her outright. But I honestly wouldn't be surprised by anything at this point.

by Anonymousreply 51September 18, 2021 10:22 PM

The TikToker doesn't say whether she accepted the $200 or not. My guess: she did accept the $200.

by Anonymousreply 52September 18, 2021 10:26 PM

Of course she's capable of physically attacking and causing harm to an adult male. She's smaller than he is but that's not a disqualifier nor is it an excuse for him to kill her, which is what he did.

by Anonymousreply 53September 18, 2021 10:27 PM

R46, Gaby's Mom tried repeatedly to report her daughter missing after her last face time on Social Media on 8/26.

Gaby's BFF told Mom that her very reliable friend didn't contact her on 8/29 or 8/30 (her birthday) when they were supposed to meet up in the mountains of WY.

LE requires you wait about 2 weeks to report an ADULT missing.

by Anonymousreply 54September 18, 2021 10:28 PM

Two weeks...crazy. Anything can happen with a day, much less two weeks. Stupid law.

by Anonymousreply 55September 18, 2021 10:32 PM

building upon the r51 theory, that might also be why he lawyered up so hard. Without even getting into the consequences of improper disposal of a corpse, I think in at least a few parts of the US, you can be convicted of manslaughter or worse if you affirmatively tell somebody who's suicidal to "do it, already!" (and they do).

by Anonymousreply 56September 18, 2021 10:33 PM

When the police approached Laundrie and Petito (Van Girl), Petito was crying, but Laundrie was the one who had visible injuries on his face. Yet, the police didn't arrest anyone. I wonder, if the tables had been turned, i.e., if Petito had had facial injuries and Laundrie was uninjured, would the police have arrested Laundrie? Maybe all of this could have been avoided.

I do believe that Laundrie and Petito were later involved in something physical, causing Petito to die. I never thought about Petito's dead body being in the van, but that's plausible. (I would have guessed the body was left at one of the remote areas of Utah, etc.)

Why did he need a ride when he had the van? Couldn't he have just parked the van, run into a store, jumped back into the van, etc.?

by Anonymousreply 57September 18, 2021 10:33 PM

Gabby sounds and looks like a psycho succubus who probably pushed the guy over the edge multiple times until he finally broke. Maybe he killed her, maybe he didn't, but I bet he offed himself because he couldn't take anymore.

by Anonymousreply 58September 18, 2021 10:36 PM

The interesting point about the visible scratches on his body is - if this was a missing persons investigation (at the time of the interview) and they were interviewing him, the scratches on his body would be incriminating and considered possible evidence of a crime. Why wouldn't they think that it's possible he was already choking/abusing her in some way, and the scratches on his body were her attempt to defend herself?

double-edged sword.

by Anonymousreply 59September 18, 2021 10:40 PM

I'm also assuming he's killed himself.

With any luck, he took off to where he left Gabby's dead body and they'll be found.
Rose Davis, 21, of Sarasota, described Laundrie as a controlling and manipulative boyfriend, in one incident stealing Petitio’s ID so she wouldn’t be able to go out to bars with her.
Petito had described the strange episodes to Davis, which at times forced Petito to sleep at her house.
“He’s got these jealousy issues and he struggles from what Gabby called these “episodes,” where he would hear things and hear voices and wouldn’t sleep,” she told the outlet.
“Gabby had to stay at my house a bunch of times because she just needed a breather and didn’t want to go home to him.”
Davis said she “used to consider [Laundrie] a friend,” after spending time with the couple.
She said the two friends would share locations on their iPhones to keep each other safe “in case we got lost,” but Laundrie made Petito stop sharing once he found out.
“He had this composure as a sweet, nice, caring guy. But you could tell he’s a little off, a little weird. Like, he’d set up our hammocks when we’d go to the beach, but wouldn’t sit with us, which I found bizarre,” she told the Daily Mail.
“Brian has a jealousy issue,” Rose said. “I’m her only friend in Florida to my knowledge and that’s not because she can’t make friends, he just didn’t want her to have friends.”
Rose Davis says Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie progressively got into “more and more arguments.”
“He was always worried she was going to leave him,” she said. “It was a constant thing to try to get us to stop hanging out.”
Davis told the Daily Mail that she’d last spoken to Petito in early August, where they discussed meeting up in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming for Davis’ birthday on Aug. 29. Davis said that she had requested off work for the days, but never went after never hearing back from Petito.
She said that the couple never fought in front of her, however she believed that she could tell when they had just had an argument. She said that within the first year of knowing her, Petito spent between seven and 10 nights at her house after they had fought.
“I do believe that their relationship as they kept going on was getting more problematic. It just seemed like there was more and more arguments,” she told the Daily Mail, adding that they had still planned on getting married despite Petito telling her mother it was called off.

Why are people like R51 so determined to make it her fault? Why aren't they speculating that he scratched his own face to make it look like she was attacking him, when it's far more likely that he was the abuser? He's the one described as jealous and controlling by their friends, and he's the one who's alive while she's dead.

As for him having periods of him "hearing voices and not sleeping", that sounds more like bipolar or schizoaffective disorder than schizophrenia, people having manic episodes don't sleep and sometimes they hear voices. And on the earlier thread, it was said that they'd "both stopped taking their meds".

by Anonymousreply 66September 18, 2021 10:52 PM

Very strange to try to force the idea that she was just crazy, who can blame him?

1. It’s “Jackson Hole” not “Jackson’s Hole”. I can’t tell if someone thinks they’re being cute or they really don’t know. Look at a map.

2. It’s “Gabby”, not “Gabi” or “Gabbie” or whatever people are writing. If you care enough to be concerned for her, get her name right.

by Anonymousreply 69September 18, 2021 10:59 PM

Hearing voices is schizophrenic, not bipolar. I'm borderline bipolar, my daughter is completely bipolar and we don't hear voices. He's schizo.

Man, her sobbing uncontrollably over her blog was pretty tough to watch. Crazy.

I have a feeling they were pretty low on cash, with none coming in. I guess they thought making a few posts and tagging REI and LL Bean, that it was instantly gonna be raining cash in that little van?

by Anonymousreply 72September 18, 2021 11:11 PM

by Anonymousreply 73September 18, 2021 11:15 PM

In the Daily Mail article, there were multiple clips of this couple kissing, etc. Moral of the story for me: there's a lot more to a couple than what they present on YouTube, etc.

Also, people seem hell-bent on calling each other "my fiancé," etc. I know a woman (attorney) who has been calling her boyfriend her "fiancé" for years, now. Still not married.

by Anonymousreply 74September 18, 2021 11:18 PM

R58 "psycho succubus"? LOL, he was a leach who depended on her for money, she owned the van, she was the one who had the job, and he was known to be jealous and possessive. If anyone was a "psycho" it was him.

by Anonymousreply 75September 18, 2021 11:35 PM

"Hearing voices is schizophrenic, not bipolar. I'm borderline bipolar, my daughter is completely bipolar and we don't hear voices. "

Not everyone with bipolar hears voices during manic episodes, but it can happen. People with bipolar have differing degrees of mania, some have heightened creativity and energy, others go into real psychosis, and that can include voices. It's also more likely for people with schizoaffective disorder, which has more severe symptoms than bipolar.

The reason I assumed bipolar or schizoaffective rather than schizophrenia is that someone described him as having "... these 'episodes,' where he would hear things and hear voices and wouldn’t sleep". Schizophrenia isn't episodic, it's chronic, but people with bipolar can have "episodes" where they don't sleep due to mania, or in some cases, hear voices.

by Anonymousreply 76September 18, 2021 11:38 PM

She was OCD which indicates some serious psychological problems. He was bi-polar/schizophrenic or whatever he was, also indicating serious psychological problems. Neither of them should have been traveling cross country living in a tiny van.

However, since he made it home with her van while she's vanished and probably dead, his issues were more severe. Doesn't mean she was incapable of hauling off and slugging him or scratching him in a fight, it just means that it's obvious he murdered her.

by Anonymousreply 77September 18, 2021 11:39 PM

Even if they both had psychological issues, if they wanted to head off for months in a van, nobody could stop them. They were both legal adults, all anyone could do was try to talk them out if it, or refuse to lend them money for the purpose.

by Anonymousreply 81September 18, 2021 11:51 PM

I'm sure this has been answered so I apologize in advance, but was Gabby actually SEEN after Brian left on August 17th to clear out her stuff in the storage unit? Articles are saying that she was seen leaving the hotel on the 24th but I'm not seeing how anyone knows it was actually her. Was there maybe some video footage from the lobby or something?

It is weird that they would leave Gabby alone in a hotel room for a week while they cleared her things out. Was this premeditated and the parents were in on it? It makes more sense if she's already dead by the 17th and they're helping their son cover it up.

by Anonymousreply 82September 18, 2021 11:53 PM

R80, The gun enthusiast from Louisiana says on 26/8, he drove from Jackson Hole Airport to West Yellowstone in Montana and saw Brian at Bullwinkle's. He also say he had a strong New York accent. Have we heard him speak? And do we know if he grew up in New York or Florida? He met Gabby when she was attending high school (was he also?).

by Anonymousreply 83September 18, 2021 11:53 PM

Another intriguing theory... she's alive, and they're doing this as a publicity stunt.

If you read reports, neither Laundrie himself nor his family reported Gabby missing... HER family did, after putting two and two together when he returned without her. Since Brian hasn't been formally interrogated, and has refused to make ANY statement to the police, he technically hasn't made any false statements to them. Likewise, even if he's "hiding" right now, he was never technically REQUIRED to remain in communication with police, and can maintain plausible deniability of any arrest warrant that might exist right this second by virtue of remaining incommunicado.

The police are in a tough spot. It looks like he killed Gabby, but if the police jump the gun and arrest him prematurely (or do anything they wouldn't be allowed to do to a mere potential witness to a crime), they'd be paving the way for him to walk away almost scot-free if he DID kill her because his lawyers could demonstrate that nearly all subsequently-obtained evidence was "fruit of the forbidden tree", tainted, and therefore inadmissible in court.

Likewise, if this whole thing IS a publicity stunt, technically, neither Gabby nor Brian have themselves done anything illegal up to this point. You have no legal duty to monitor the news and make your well-being known if the media are reporting you "missing" and you're perfectly fine (though actively taking steps to perpetuate it once it happens might venture into legally perilous territory).

by Anonymousreply 84September 18, 2021 11:57 PM

Brian had left Gabby for a full week on her own. He obviously COULD leave her. I thinks he would have said, on her TikTok video: "I couldn't accept that much money," blah blah blah. I am stuck on all that effort spent to bring him back home just to help clean out a storage unit while leaving Gabby alone in a hotel. It doesn't make any sense.

All the people who say she was suicidal and so mentally ill she couldn't be left alone for long without feeling abandoned keep conveniently forgetting that she was holed up in a hotel alone for six days.

by Anonymousreply 107September 19, 2021 12:36 AM

Gabby wasn't the one "hearing voices". Or known to be "jealous" and "overly possessive".

by Anonymousreply 108September 19, 2021 12:39 AM

"If she threatened to kill herself and it turns out that she has done so... I'd feel pretty stuck if I were him."

Again, we don't know that she was unstable, HE was the one who was reportedly possessive and jealous and who didn't want to her see friends, and who reportedly heard voices and didn't sleep (symptoms of severe mania). The only evidence we have that she was unstable was that someone said she was OCD, and that she was hysterical after spending weeks in a van with this guy.

Some people here are absolutely determined to make this her fault, even though he seems to be far more unstable, and he's alive when 3 women in his vicinity are dead.

by Anonymousreply 111September 19, 2021 12:44 AM

If she'd committed suicide, then his best bet was to report the suicide, and rest assured that while some people might suspect it was murder, they'd never be able to prove it. The worst that could happen if he said it was suicide was suspicion, and having to talk to cops with a lawyer present.

As it is, the whole fucking world is now convinced that he killed her, and no lawyer would advise their client to put themselves in this position, unless the alternate was confessing to a murder. If he'd just said that she died trying to get a selfie or killed herself, and told them where to look for the body, things would be far better for him. But as it is, he's a fugitive, and the Court of Public Opinion has convicted him of murder, which is the second worst possible outcome for him. A person would only put themselves in the position if it were better than being convicted of murder.

by Anonymousreply 112September 19, 2021 12:46 AM

by Anonymousreply 113September 19, 2021 12:46 AM

I bet when they were fighting in the store the woman told him to cut the shit and called the cops so he planned revenge. He probably followed her and harassed her and then murdered her and her wife. Gabby saw it and he had to off her as well. I can’t feel too sorry for Gabby since she knew he was a possessive, abusive cunt.

by Anonymousreply 114September 19, 2021 12:49 AM

i think the Bullwinkle Bar guy is mis-identifying Brian. It's very out of character for him to speak up when he wasn't even a part of the convo. Why draw attention to himself? Plus, he wasn't really the type to have that much confidence to begin with.

by Anonymousreply 131September 19, 2021 1:21 AM

Amy mental illness either of them had was likely exacerbated by all that time together. It is hard to get space to yourself on road trips and in hotels and campgrounds. They also had financial stress and were under pressure to create these smiling happy loving life blogs and social media posts and videos.

They were seen together 25/26 and she had facetimed her mother since his return from Florida. It seems whatever happened happened about the 26/27.

I wonder if when he went home his parents tried to talk him into ending the road trip / staying home / ending the relationship etc. They might have seen he was unwell / stressed out / hearing about Gabby scratching him etc and thinking he needed to come back home. Maybe that led to a fight when he got back to Gabby. I also wonder if his family liked her or thought she was good for him. Apparently they lived with his parents for 2 years but they have acted completely indifferent to her disappearance. Not the way would except them to act if they liked her / cared about her. I am not saying they had anything to do with her demise but maybe they talked to him a lot about the relationship when he was home.

by Anonymousreply 137September 19, 2021 1:29 AM

She was alive on 27/8 according to Snapchat with friend. According to map, he's spotted alone in Ashton by multiple sources at 10 PM on the same day. Seems logical atp that she could have been murdered in the West Teton area on 27/8.

According to the map, he was in Jackson Hole on 29/8 at 11 PM tossing out garbage/getting gas. It would be safe to say he was reunited with the van since being dropped off at the Dam after 6 PM. The van must have been left in Coulter Lake and then he decided to abandon whatever plan he originally hatched to cover up his tracks.

The task of finding Gabby's body seems daunting. However, he doesn't seem that bright. Surely, authorities can get access to cell phone data/pings from the activity of both of their phones on 27/8. That narrows things down a bit.

Lol, r146.

Brian can always stick on a face mask and a hat, and he's good to go.

by Anonymousreply 147September 19, 2021 1:53 AM

You'd be surprised.

by Anonymousreply 148September 19, 2021 1:54 AM

No life skills to speak of, otherwise he would have had a job other than mooching off his vlogger GF. Maybe he'll hook up with an eldergay who will fill us in on the real story about how his murderous hole and ball sack smell. Keep an eye out for a drifter who looks like him and is talking to himself, EGs!

by Anonymousreply 149September 19, 2021 1:54 AM

If the parents own a gun I promise you they gave it to him before he went on the run. This will not end well. He killed her. He knows the jig is up and his only options are Prison or Suicide.

Um, they were both mooching off his parents. Apparently both of them were unemployed moochers, living with his parents for the past two years.

Not so, R156.

Two words for Brian: Gator Bait

by Anonymousreply 160September 19, 2021 3:03 AM

I'm guessing he will or has committed suicide. He seems to weak to tough it out like Scott Peterson. Peterson bleached his brown hair "blonde" (more like orange), and IIRC, was found with a wad of cash, IDs, etc., heading for the border.

by Anonymousreply 161September 19, 2021 3:09 AM

I actually don't think he's going to suicide. I am pretty sure he thinks he can out run this in some way. The parents gave cops a false tip on where to search and really, if I were the cops, I wouldn't deploy THAT MANY resources towards the search, knowing they are all lying.

He's trying to run and "live off the land." it's debatable whether he will be successful.

by Anonymousreply 162September 19, 2021 3:09 AM

Reddit posters question Brian's location after 9/1. We know someone drove Gaby's van to FL. Brian's parents led LE to believe he was secluded inside their home but they've since proven to be liars.

Therefore we really don't know where Brian was hanging out for the last 15 or so days.

by Anonymousreply 163September 19, 2021 3:12 AM

I'm assuming Brian flew somewhere that won't extradite him back to the United States.

by Anonymousreply 165September 19, 2021 3:21 AM

She's dead....wrapped in plastic.

by Anonymousreply 166September 19, 2021 3:22 AM

that's absolutely a total option, r164. if he had a passport, he could have somewhat easily flown to a country that has no extradition, as long as there isn't a bunch of COVID restrictions for that country. If so, he's long gone and may never be brought back to answer for this.

I kind of feel they will find her body because he's a bit of a lazy person and probably didn't bury her. If he put her in the lake, she'll come up.

by Anonymousreply 167September 19, 2021 3:23 AM

That would bring a lot of shit upon his parents. I doubt that has happened.

Most countries that don’t have extradition treaties with the U.S. are pretty unappetizing—Sudan, Libya, etc.—or unappetizing and ruinously expensive, such as Qatar or Saudi Arabia.

by Anonymousreply 173September 19, 2021 3:34 AM

r172 - he had his parents to help

by Anonymousreply 174September 19, 2021 3:35 AM

The parents are starting to give me some very negative vibes. They told police the son drove the car to the park and never came back so they went and got the car and drove it back home and waited 3 days to contact authorities.

These people pulled a Scott Peterson and gave him money and a getaway vehicle.

by Anonymousreply 175September 19, 2021 3:40 AM

I think it’s pretty likely he flew the coop. It’s the 18th of September, and when is the last date anyone can confirm he was actually seen? The family sent him away somewhere with a nice bank account to boot.

by Anonymousreply 176September 19, 2021 3:40 AM

Has he had a chance to shower yet? I hope not.

by Anonymousreply 177September 19, 2021 3:58 AM

What do we know of the family? Wealthy?

by Anonymousreply 178September 19, 2021 3:59 AM

No confirmed sightings of Brian in the month of Sept. No real proof he was even in the State of Fl or driving the van in Sept.

by Anonymousreply 179September 19, 2021 4:08 AM

Brian clearly has mental health issues and the stress of Gabby's death and being hunted by cops doesn't make for a successful get away. My guess is that he is holed up in a cabin with supplies or something. The family had days to get something set up.

I don't think this was a premeditated murder. My guess is that two mentally unstable people in an argument, it got physical, neither had good emotional regulation skills / conflict resolution skills, he was physically stronger and she ended up dead. My guess is it was too much force used to get her to shut up or stop in the moment - as in he choked her or smashed her head or something in the heat of the moment.

by Anonymousreply 180September 19, 2021 4:08 AM

LE have access to the "pings" of Brian and Gaby's cell phones. They're using it to track last movements.

LE are also examining a open campsite area where Gaby was known to have stayed at the end of August, near where her van was seen parked. Can provide the links if interested (as I got the info from Reddit.)

i guarantee you this guy is not going to kill himself. He's a selfish mo-fo who killed her when she became inconvenient. He told his parents it was an accident and they enabled his escape from LE questioning. it will be interesting to see if this ends up to be a Joran Van Der Whatever situation.

by Anonymousreply 184September 19, 2021 4:23 AM

R184, How could Gaby become "inconvenient?"

by Anonymousreply 185September 19, 2021 4:29 AM

R179 Thank you for saying that. No Brian sightings in FL other than claims by his family. Someone drove the van back to FL, "likely" Brian on 9/1, but if so, he bolted very soon after. The belief that he was in the house between 9/1 and 9/14 is foolish.

by Anonymousreply 186September 19, 2021 4:35 AM

r185 have you ever spent a ton of time in a very small space with a person and not ended up hating at least half of their habits? She admittedly had issues and so did he. He ended up killing her in a rage at some point during an argument. duh.

by Anonymousreply 187September 19, 2021 4:36 AM

DL Lesbians, Do you get a bi or gay vibe from Gaby? Her BFF Rose with whom she was supposed to meet up on 8/29 (Rose's B-day) said they met on the BFF side of Bumble (sp) which some claim is a gay/lesbian hookup site.

A lot of chatter on the internet re Gaby spending 10 different nights the previous year at Rose's home due to fights with Brian over his irrational jealousy re Rose.

by Anonymousreply 188September 19, 2021 4:38 AM

R188, Rose is mentioned at R62.

by Anonymousreply 189September 19, 2021 4:40 AM

R187, Gaby was living with Brian at his family's home so they should have been very familiar with each other's habits. Looks like they'd spent a LOT of time together before the van trip.

by Anonymousreply 190September 19, 2021 4:41 AM

r188 i heard that too (spending several nights with a friend she met on Bumble after arguments), but i think it was on the previous thread here.

by Anonymousreply 191September 19, 2021 4:42 AM

R189, R191, Yes I know and appreciate the info on Rose. What posters elsewhere on the internet are asking if the friendship between Gaby and Rose was at all sexual in nature and that's why Brian was jealous and angry.

Don't forget the 2 women were supposed to meet up on Aug 29. Just speculating re what's been repeatedly stated across the internet.

by Anonymousreply 192September 19, 2021 4:46 AM

r190 oh please. it's one thing to live in a house with different bedrooms and separate living spaces, kitchen, living room, bathroom. it's QUITE a different thing to live in ONE living space 24/7 with each other. Believe me, i know because i've done it. i lived in a 30 foot trailer with 5 people 2 dogs 1 bathroom and it's not a pretty sight. imagine 2 people in that small space. you will get on each other's nerves. Now add in mental illness on each of their parts. Hm....what do you think is going to happen?

by Anonymousreply 193September 19, 2021 4:46 AM

Now, that we don't know. He could have stolen one or went with a friend who has a car. Hell, his parents could have given him one and lied about it, they've clearly been lying for a long time.

We also know he hitchhikes so he could be somewhere else entirely. I think he's probably in the woods but there are ways he could have gone further, especially if he got a head start two weeks ago.

by Anonymousreply 200September 19, 2021 5:32 AM

Now that the FBI is involved, I’m guessing they can finally haul him in for questioning, if they ever find him? He’ll have a lawyer present, but he can’t literally not say a word, not even through his lawyer, right?

I’m still gobsmacked over this notion that he doesn’t ever have to say a word to the police, and doesn’t want to—as if that’s going to go well for him? What innocent person does that??

by Anonymousreply 202September 19, 2021 5:44 AM
He’ll have a lawyer present, but he can’t literally not say a word, not even through his lawyer, right?

Yes, he can literally not say a word, with or without a lawyer. This is written into the US Constitution via the Fifth Amendment. It is a cornerstone of American criminal law. I'm no flag waver, but it's something to be very proud of as an American.

Is pleading the 5th going to spare him criminal charges, conviction, and imprisonment?

His refusal to talk is the dumbest thing about this case. It does not help him. An innocent person wouldn’t do this.

by Anonymousreply 205September 19, 2021 5:54 AM

Are there any countries without extradition treaties that he could reach by boat? Because it's very difficult to fly under a fake name, and hard to flee by car when you're a headline everywhere,, but easy enough to take off in a boat.

He might think his experience with camping makes him a wilderness expert, but if he's as unstable as i think he is he won't be able to stick camping in the Florida wilds. He'll come out, and someone will spot him, and rush to tell the world.

by Anonymousreply 212September 19, 2021 8:15 AM

by Anonymousreply 213September 19, 2021 8:21 AM

Brian didn't flee the country. He seems like an awkward, soft-spoken kind of guy who lacks the backbone to undertake anything grand like moving to another country just to avoid the law.

He's either holed up somewhere in the forest, or he is lying low in an entirely different region/state. Of course, a stupid move as it only makes him look more and more guilty.

by Anonymousreply 214September 19, 2021 8:22 AM

I've no doubt whatsoever aboug his guilt. I'm prepared to be surprised if I'm wrong, but I say he is definitely hiding, not missing. Grand Teton and Yellowstone are close to home for me. I grew up 100 miles away from them and I am still within decent driving distance. Winter in Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons starts in September and it can easily snow 20 inches in one day. If that creep pushed her down a ravine, they might not find her until next June or...never. Poor family. I hope some form of justice is obtained.

by Anonymousreply 219September 19, 2021 9:45 AM

So ...

27/8. 6 - 6:30 PM. Spread Creek Dispersed Camping (this would be East of Jackson Lake)

Van spotted.

Interesting. By this time, there has been no verified communications from Gabby. There was the SnapChat to the friend that morning, but I don't know if that was a text (fake or real) or video chat, etc.

by Anonymousreply 220September 19, 2021 9:50 AM

Also interesting about the footage from Ethan's parents is that we know at 10 PM later that night (27/8), Brian was spotted all the way over in Ashton, Idaho, WEST of the Tetons (about 3 hours or so drive away). So, he either ditched the van and hitchhiked (which seems somewhat unlikely, as it's an odd place to go from that location), or he had gotten back to the van shortly after it was spotted and made his way to Ashton (not sure why).

This is a GOOD video that details the pathway on a map based on known facts.

One thing that is confusing is that Ethan's parents put the van at Spread Creek on 27/8 6 PM. The Elk Hunters--not knowing any information that had been put out--spotted the van on 29/8. Further confusing things is that the couple was spotted in Ashton, ID on 27/8 10 PM, West of the Tetons. Maybe Ethan's parents had the date wrong? Either way, Spread Creek appears to be a very important locale.

by Anonymousreply 228September 19, 2021 12:19 PM

Yes, Dutchie R228.

I want to know how verifiable it is that the Ashton bar owner actually saw them 10 pm 27/8.

I'd also like to know if the elk hunters spotted the van (on 29/8) in the exact spot Ethan's parents took the video footage in Spread Creek (6 PM 27/8).

by Anonymousreply 229September 19, 2021 12:22 PM

Visiting a bar together seems wholly out of character, for some reason.

by Anonymousreply 230September 19, 2021 12:27 PM

Ethan?? Who the fuck is Ethan?

by Anonymousreply 231September 19, 2021 12:47 PM

i think the Victor shop sighting and the Ashton bar sighting are mistaken identities. I doubt they ever went that way. They were seen in Grand Teton on the 25th and she Facetimed her mother that day that they were heading to Yellowstone. That is the last verified contact. I don't think they ever really left that area. Spread Creek on the 27th is in the same general region and the Aston / Victor sightings put them on a route that makes no sense.

I doubt Ethan's parents are wrong on the date. They have a video which would be dated and you know the date of your camping reservations and when you arrived at a campsite.

by Anonymousreply 232September 19, 2021 1:09 PM

R231, I used the term "Ethan's parents" to simply the discussion. They are the ones who posted the video from 27/8 6 PM that puts the van in Spread Creek.

Dutchie, you could be right. And that Ashton sighting really confuses the map. Things make more sense without it.

I think I agree with you R232, at least about Ashton. The Victor sighting seemed pretty convincing, though. You could be right.

I still don’t understand the trip home to clean out a storage unit. That doesn’t make any sense. I think there a lot more to that.

And now I’m starting to see the similarities to the Watts case. “Nice guy” frustrated by being on camera for her social media. Has perfect opportunity to quit the relationship but goes right back. Parents covering up what’s really happening. The victim might not be as sweet and innocent as she seems (although customary disclaimer that she did NOT deserve to be killed!). Social media a total lie.

But it’s different because no one has found the body yet and he didn’t think he could talk and outsmart the police.

by Anonymousreply 234September 19, 2021 1:30 PM

Wonder if they'll find him today.

Not much hope that they'll find the girl's remains for a very long time…

by Anonymousreply 235September 19, 2021 1:35 PM

You all make great investigators. The more I read about this case, the sadder I feel for all of them. This whole thing is ridiculous and two more lives have been ruined. I'd like to think a few great psychics are helping LE. Can't hurt. Talk about a needle in a haystack. These two were adventurers so really they could be almost anywhere on the US map.

What lessons can we learn from this? I like how people are offering insight and support through the use of the internet. Wouldn't it be great if both were found alive and got help. It's really a shame that with their connectedness and popularity through their blog and travels, that nobody around them could help them find a way to back out of a toxic relationship.

by Anonymousreply 236September 19, 2021 1:50 PM

This is when social media is a good thing. People can gather evidence, not knowing the significance at the time....such as that couple who happened to capture the van on the side of a dirt road in R217's video. That sure looks like it. Reading the comments under the video, some claim that on the far left, they spotted someone who looked like was doing some digging in the field? I went back to try to see it, but didn't. My eyes aren't too great, though. I think and hope this video helps out the investigation in finding Gabby.

by Anonymousreply 237September 19, 2021 1:51 PM

R233 In one article I had seen the Victor shop people said they weren't sure of the date and it could have been the 25th or 26th. It is possible it was the 25th before they even went to Jenny Lake / GTNP? Still out of their way but it fits better than the 27th. I am not sure if they ever confirmed a date they said they were in the shop.

Elk Hunters say the van was still at Spread Creek on the 29th. Reported sighting of Brian at a gas station in Jackson at 11pm on the 29th

GNTP to Brian's Home in Florida is about 2400 miles or 35-36 hours of driving. He apparently arrived back on the 1st.

by Anonymousreply 238September 19, 2021 1:51 PM

Why would LE believe anything the Dirty Laundrie parents tell them?

They helped him escape. They got him an attorney who made up shit so that he could buy some times.

There's no evidence he went to any game preserve in Florida. He could be anywhere.

by Anonymousreply 240September 19, 2021 1:55 PM

How did he get to Colter Bay? If he hitched, you would think someone would come forward. It is about 15 miles from the campsite - maybe he did hike it as he told the couple. Terrain isn't easy.

They drop him off just past the Teton Road turnoff at 6:09 pm and he has to get back up to the 191 and then down to Spread Creek - someone must have given him a lift here too.

I guess there could be lots of people oblivious to the case - but there has to be more eye witnesses

Then he is apparently at gas station at 11pm in Jackson Hole.

by Anonymousreply 241September 19, 2021 2:05 PM

I think conventional wisdom is that he hiked up to Colter Bay from the van and that is where he showered.

I think he could have hiked back to the van from the Teton Road turnoff and driven down to Jackson by 11 PM.

I'm ready for the next person to come forward with a verified sighting.

by Anonymousreply 244September 19, 2021 2:20 PM

Hiding in plain sight, perhaps. In the safety of his family's bosom.

by Anonymousreply 245September 19, 2021 2:24 PM

She was a small person. She was confrontational and physical with him. They were in some rugged terrain. He accidentally killed her fending off one of her slapping/scratching attacks. He panicked and disposed of her body. I think it's that simple. He's not going to commit suicide. He thinks he's smart enough to outsmart the cops. That's a huge advantage to the police.

by Anonymousreply 246September 19, 2021 2:27 PM

R246 I agree with all that except the "accidentally" part

by Anonymousreply 247September 19, 2021 2:34 PM

R247 You think it was premeditated murder? What leads you down that path? Based on their history, death in the course of a fight seems much more likely.

by Anonymousreply 248September 19, 2021 2:38 PM

Did he, or did Weird Ammo Guy, also kill those two women?

by Anonymousreply 249September 19, 2021 2:39 PM

R248 I don't think it was premeditated, I think it was rage based, on the spot. I just don't think he 'accidentally' pushed her too hard or anything like that. I think he snapped.

by Anonymousreply 250September 19, 2021 2:41 PM

He killed her, but I also think it was an accident. They probably got into another volatile argument, but it went too far.

by Anonymousreply 251September 19, 2021 2:41 PM

I suspect that he did kill her. I don't think it was an accident. He'll claim that, of course, to make things look better for him.

by Anonymousreply 252September 19, 2021 2:47 PM

R250. That makes sense, I agree. Given his control issues the friend talked about, Gabby likely said something or told him she was going to do something that he didn't want her to and they fought and he went into a rage of sorts. I see it more as him losing control of himself in the moment when them both being physical and taking it too far versus intentionally wanting her dead.

by Anonymousreply 253September 19, 2021 2:49 PM

What do you call it when a man or woman throws a tantrum, or/and starts screaming, if you don't do something very minor they want you to do? I've even had women bosses like this. I always sat there silently staring at them.

Many today especially if they have a sales background can't handle the smallest disagreement.

by Anonymousreply 254September 19, 2021 3:11 PM

After preparing the van for a cross-country trip, planning the trip, doing all of the social media (it appears they had a drone as well judging from one of the shots in the video), she has to sit on her ass for six days in a hotel room waiting for him to fly back from Florida to move stuff out of storage (it obviously wouldn't have been safe for her to travel around by herself). Why did it take so long? And why did they not take care of that shit before they left? Hmmn.

by Anonymousreply 255September 19, 2021 3:15 PM

R255 Assuming he didn't take the keys with him, she could have been out and about and doing her own thing. She had the van. If she didn't go anywhere while he was away - that was her choice.

by Anonymousreply 256September 19, 2021 3:19 PM

R255, that is so weird to me, and I think it’s a lie (or a stretched out truth). I’d love to know if the tickets were round-trip or one-way.

I think it was an attempt to break away. Or to teach her “a lesson”.

by Anonymousreply 257September 19, 2021 3:27 PM
Assuming he didn't take the keys with him

I don't think that's a safe assumption based on what we know.

At any rate, it's not safe for an attractive, petite 22-year-old female to be driving a van across the country. It was her choice, just a smarter one to stay put. Hence why she brought her boyfriend with her on the trip (which, ironically enough, ended up not being safe for her either). If she had disappeared whilst out on her own, DLers would be tearing her a new one for being stupid enough to go out into the great wide open by herself.

by Anonymousreply 258September 19, 2021 3:28 PM

R76 and the others here making diagnoses-

It can be quite difficult diagnosing a “first break” case of psychosis. In a male the age of Brian, bipolar I and schizophrenia can present in a similar fashion.

There is no gradation of mania- by its very definition it must be causing significant dysfunction in all spheres of life. It is a destructive and horrible thing to experience and is often followed by crippling depression.

Schizoaffective d/o is called the “garbage can diagnosis-

by Anonymousreply 259September 19, 2021 3:31 PM

Did either of them have a job?

by Anonymousreply 260September 19, 2021 3:43 PM

R260, I read that they both worked at a Publix. Also read that she was a pharmacy technician.

by Anonymousreply 261September 19, 2021 3:52 PM

The lessons to take away from this:

1) Take your medication, even on cross country trips 2) Don't date jealous and posessive people 3) Don't date people who hear voices

by Anonymousreply 262September 19, 2021 3:53 PM

Why would anyone sane imagine that they could travel around the country with another person in a tiny commercial van like that thing? It wasn't even built out, and you couldn't even stand up in it.

by Anonymousreply 263September 19, 2021 3:59 PM

There are many many women who travel solo and who do solo van life. Safety issues are random and rare. In that area she would have met lots of other van life folks. If she had wanted to be out and about she could have been.

by Anonymousreply 264September 19, 2021 4:01 PM

Are there more full body pictures of Brian?

by Anonymousreply 265September 19, 2021 4:02 PM
[R247] You think it was premeditated murder?

Do you know what the word accidental means?

by Anonymousreply 267September 19, 2021 4:17 PM

R260 Gabby had a job - pharmacy technician. She was supporting her killer bf.

by Anonymousreply 268September 19, 2021 4:18 PM

Hmm. Seems like everyone is guessing.

by Anonymousreply 269September 19, 2021 4:28 PM

Well, DUH, r269.

by Anonymousreply 270September 19, 2021 4:29 PM

Did he have a job at all, or was he living off his girlfriend and his parents?

Gawd, what did she see in this balding loser who heard voices, she was very pretty and even if she had OCD there are plenty of straight men who'd put up with that to get a pretty young blonde.

by Anonymousreply 271September 19, 2021 4:34 PM

Why didn't the van people of r217 stop, get out, and at least get a picture of the license plate?!

by Anonymousreply 272September 19, 2021 4:35 PM

Oh my God, this is so tasteless and tone deaf!

From Twitter:

@CandaceCameronBure Attention casting directors! My schedule is free to portray Gabby Petito in the Lifetime original movie "Dirty Laundrie."

by Anonymousreply 273September 19, 2021 4:35 PM

R273 I don't see this on her Twitter feed. If she really did tweet this, she's already deleted it.

by Anonymousreply 274September 19, 2021 4:42 PM

R274 Wasn't true, R273

by Anonymousreply 275September 19, 2021 4:45 PM

R256, Gaby told LE she wasn't comfortable driving the van. Also she was in a very small town in the middle of nowhere so where would she have gone alone?

by Anonymousreply 276September 19, 2021 4:46 PM

r272, nothing nefarious had gone down yet at that point. It was simply a van parked in a dispersed camping area, a common site throughout the sightseeing regions of the West during summer/fall.

by Anonymousreply 277September 19, 2021 4:47 PM

I have to admit, "Dirty Laundrie" is a good title for a movie....tasteless as it is right now.

by Anonymousreply 278September 19, 2021 4:52 PM
Of course, a stupid move as it only makes him look more and more guilty.

I'm pretty sure that van has already left the garage.

by Anonymousreply 279September 19, 2021 4:56 PM

R264, Still in 2021 many women are raised to believe they "need a strong man" and to be paired up especially to travel and go camping/hiking. Pretty girls are constantly hit on by all ages of creeps. I can't go to the grocery store without old farts trying to pick me up and getting really mad at me when I said I had a BF. Even had a stalker at the local shop, and I'm not young.

Note that Gabby's father/step-father is very controlling too, although IMHO in a good way. Her pretty mother is quieter and not as aware/observant. Gabby wasn't working in management or a traditional male field where'd she could develop more assertive skills.

Also even with the push of online dating it's still very, very hard to find quality friends let alone a partner interested in committing. Brian initially seemed to go along with her goal of being a YouTube star and seeing the US.

Camping & hiking is a fab way to get away from crowds of people and to feel freedom in today's masked-up world. Notice almost none of the people papped in the pictures or any of the videos are wearing masks.

by Anonymousreply 280September 19, 2021 4:57 PM

Brian's parents have told LE where they think Brian went (Carlton Reserve). Either they are completely incriminating themselves if they actually know where he is or are throwing LE off his scent or they are actually worried about his mental health / suicide risk and are giving accurate information in the hopes LE finds him. I doubt their directives to LE suddenly relate to caring about Gabby as they had 3 weeks to take action if they cared about her being found.

by Anonymousreply 281September 19, 2021 5:01 PM
Gawd, what did she see in this balding loser who heard voices

by Anonymousreply 290September 19, 2021 5:43 PM

He looks like he's missing a chromosome or four. Nothing there that would entice anyone who was out of their mid twenties to give him a chance (I don't see the VPL either). Hearing voices, possessiveness, no job, balding...that guy is a loser.

The only place he'd be a "catch" is on the cellblock, which is where I hope he ends up.

Yuck.

by Anonymousreply 294September 19, 2021 5:45 PM

I agree with you the eyebrows are not good. I think they’re probably his worst feature overall, moreso than his bald head. By the way—why is he bald? He’s 23.

by Anonymousreply 295September 19, 2021 5:46 PM

Also why does it seem like there’s someone refreshing the page and quickly W&W’ing the criticisms of his looks over and over? I don’t believe there have been 7 unique users in the last 8 minutes who gave W&W to R287.

by Anonymousreply 296September 19, 2021 5:48 PM

Guess what...men can bald early in their 20's often. is this news? I'm more concerned about Gabby's whereabouts and his as well. This guy is not going to off himself, he's going to try to hide himself.

by Anonymousreply 297September 19, 2021 5:55 PM

I am seriously just shocked that the guy's parents aren't cooperating. How freaking weird.

by Anonymousreply 298September 19, 2021 5:57 PM

I can't wait until he's found alive and we can move on to the how we can write him in prison stage of DL obsession!

by Anonymousreply 299September 19, 2021 5:58 PM

Maybe crazy, murdering Brian's parents hear voices, too. Could be their voices told them their baby boy is innocent! That type of crazy does tend to run in families.

by Anonymousreply 300September 19, 2021 6:00 PM

He's schizo, stopped taking his meds, she got on his last nerve and he choked/killed her. He tried to hide her body but as he's affluent/lazy, probably not very well so they will probably find her at some point.

by Anonymousreply 301September 19, 2021 6:03 PM
He accidentally killed her fending off one of her slapping/scratching attacks. He panicked and disposed of her body. I think it's that simple.

There's nothing about that that's "simple."

by Anonymousreply 302September 19, 2021 6:20 PM

R298, I've met many parents who overlook their "golden boy's" beyond obvious defects and can't ever understand why the whole world doesn't idolize him. Some have serious mental health issues and will never be financially stable. Or/and are beyond spoiled.

Exactly why would Brian's parents allow him to go on a several month road trip when he didn't have his own apartment/house, obviously had to borrow money constantly, or any real skills of survival? He's certainly not a "mountain man" with serious camping skills. Exactly how were they planning to cook their meals?

by Anonymousreply 303September 19, 2021 6:31 PM

Perhaps both sets of parents thought this road trip would be a good thing to finally drive apart these star-crossed lovers.

by Anonymousreply 304September 19, 2021 6:34 PM

R304 They were right!

by Anonymousreply 305September 19, 2021 6:36 PM

At 24 your parents don't really have to let you do anything. He would leave on a road trip regardless of whether or not they approved.

He has kind of backed himself into a hole. His only alibi seems to be the story he told when hitchhiking back to the campground from Colter Bay. That he had been away hiking for a couple days and had left her at the van. This story would then be that he got back to the van and she was gone. If you are away for a couple days and you come back to a campsite and your partner is gone - I assume you are either going to say there was a note / phone call (there would be evidence) and you knew where they were OR you didn't know where they were and so you started looking and trying to find them (did they take off, get abducted, go for a walk and get hurt etc). Yet he was apparently dropped off at the Jackson Dam at 6:09pm and made his way back to camp from there and was then allegedly seen in Jackson Hole at 11pm - not leaving much time to figure out where Gabby might be if not at the van.

by Anonymousreply 306September 19, 2021 6:55 PM

I wonder how easy it would be for him to fall in with a group of homeless and essentially disappear. Get scruffier and dirty and just blend into an encampment. The homeless are suspicious and mistrustful of police, don't watch media, and just want to be left alone. It's a perfect set up for someone one the run.

by Anonymousreply 307September 19, 2021 6:56 PM

I would love to hear from his parents, even a statement "Here's why we're not cooperating with police..."

by Anonymousreply 308September 19, 2021 6:58 PM

R308 So would l but in a potential criminal case silence is golden. The lawyer so far has been great at keeping the LE away and staying under the radar of the media.

I don’t think he deliberately did something to hurt her, but I am 100% sure he caused her death and for that he needs to pay.

by Anonymousreply 309September 19, 2021 7:19 PM

R306, Parents CAN control their adult children by making it very clear that they will not give or even loan them any money if they don't do what they say. Remember Brian was living at his parent's home.

They could have said IF you go on this crazy road trip you won't have a place to live when you come back since you won't be making any money while you're vacationing.

Gaby was living with Brian's parents too so as her landlord they technically had control over her as well.

Neither of these 2 adult "kids" were financially independent at all.

by Anonymousreply 310September 19, 2021 7:24 PM

He offered the tik tok driver $200 yet Gabby's father paid for them to get UberEats sometime during the trip according to Dr. Grande's analysis of the situation on YT. Her mother said in some interview she helped them financially "here and there" during the trip also.

by Anonymousreply 311September 19, 2021 7:29 PM

Did either of these kids attend college? I think I know the answer.

by Anonymousreply 312September 19, 2021 7:29 PM

If my son told me that they had a fight and he accidentally killed her, I would tell him to tell the police so her family has closure. The 5th Amendment does not apply to cases like this unless you are trying to get away with murder.

by Anonymousreply 313September 19, 2021 7:31 PM

Aren’t the family members opening themselves to aiding and abetting???

by Anonymousreply 314September 19, 2021 7:46 PM

This boy was a meth head. That’s where the hair went. He functioned well with the police. I saw no anxiety requiring meds. I did see a meth taker who knew to go to a dr and get benzos. Using the excuse of anxiety. Drug addicts get itchy. The scratches were probably made by him. During that police stop, I thought they were very friendly toward the boyfriend. They patronized the girl after they heard the word ocd and anxiety. She took the blame. She didn’t want him arrested. One cop kept repeatedly comparing Gabbi to his fucking wife. They crowned the boyfriend the victim. Brian smiles when the cops gift him that. “I am?!” He’s given a free motel room. Gabi was shaking and didn’t seem to be able to drive. So, he was sent to a nice motel room and Gabbi,, shakey, was allowed to sleep sitting up in a car seat. Their van was full of crap. No room to lay down. The bearded cop joked that they couldn’t very well arrest a “lil blonde blue eyed girl” the fat cop who found Brian a free motel room, kissed his ass HARD. If you watch the entire cop vid of the incident, at the very end, the fat cop goes to find Brian and gives him a free ride to the motel. The cop would have sucked Brian’s cock if only Brian gave an indication. The cops were assholes. They made the girls situation worse.

by Anonymousreply 318September 19, 2021 7:56 PM

R317 And from Long Island - even worse!

by Anonymousreply 319September 19, 2021 7:56 PM

His problem is that he killed her and buried her somewhere. If it was an accident he could have explained it to local authorities.

by Anonymousreply 320September 19, 2021 8:07 PM

I think he left her in the middle of nowhere, then went back for her and she was gone. Maybe she got lost… he then got scared and headed for home.

Or he killed her.

According to DL, there was never any evidence of a crime, so it would’ve been impossible to get a search warrant. Not sure if they’ve changed their tune now that Brian has gone missing.

by Anonymousreply 328September 19, 2021 8:16 PM

I don't think the door is open and then closes. I think it is just the black of the ladder you see and then the angle changes and you just see the white of the van. The video has a jump cut just before the van comes into view and I think it is just video noise.

Nope, the ladder couldn’t create the black rectangle that is the partially open back door.

by Anonymousreply 335September 19, 2021 8:29 PM

R315 I agree with the general thrust of what you’re saying. But to be clear, Brian got rhe hotel room because it was funded by a DV charity because he was classed as a victim, Gabby wasn’t.

The problem with all this is that we know, strictly speaking, men can be victims of domestic violence & the police have to factor this in.

But, out here in the real world, let’s be honest….for a woman to hurt a man in any consequential way she needs a weapon, either a gun or a bottle of antifreeze to pour on his cornflakes. A man can kill a woman with a single punch. He doesn’t need a weapon & he can kill her very quickly.

I know the politically correct way to approach this is to treat Brian as a victim because his arm was punched and he had a few scratches but honestly…meh. My concern would still be for the wellbeing of the woman - if there’s any physicality happening she is still far, far more likely to come off worst.

But the police have to follow guidelines and in this case I think they felt (rightly) that Gabby wasn’t any actual risk to Brian and that a night apart wojld probably be more useful than flinging her in jail.

Also, someone up thread said that Gabby wouldn’t be safe travelling around on her own. I completely disagree with this.

Women being abducted & murdered by strangers is - thankfully - extremely rare. And it’s getting rarer, believe it or not. When a woman is murdered it’s almost always at the hands of someone she knows, usually her boyfriend or husband. Statistically, Gabby was far safer on her own than with Brian.

The idea that women need men around to protect them is absurd given that it’s usually those men that hurt them.

by Anonymousreply 336September 19, 2021 8:35 PM

R335 And the angle doesn’t suddenly change either. You can clearly see the moment the door closes as the filmer’s car approaches.

R325 I can’t take credit for this, it’s from a commenter on this reporter’s Twitter post (the intrepid Brian Enten, who has been avidly following and reporting on this story.)

Brian had to pretend he was camping by himself once he killed Gabby.

Whether her body was in the van or already hidden, he had to pretend she was in the van and the two of them were still together.

Notice that he had to mention to the Tiktok girl who picked him up that he had a fiancé. Conciousness of guilt. If Gabby had been ok, he wouldn't have felt the need to disclose so much personal information.

by Anonymousreply 338September 19, 2021 8:41 PM

I suspect the forensics coming from the van will be very, very telling.

by Anonymousreply 339September 19, 2021 8:44 PM

What if he drove her body back to Florida and buried it in the giant reserve or fed it to alligators?

by Anonymousreply 340September 19, 2021 8:53 PM

OMG. The passes an ugly man gets, when if a woman has one thing wrong with her, she's pilloried.

Brian is fug-ugly. He's nothing to look at. Plus he's bald.

He's not even average looking. He's ugly. If you think he's good-looking, you must be horny as hell or ugly yourself.

by Anonymousreply 341September 19, 2021 8:56 PM

R339, Do you suspect Gaby was killed inside the van? If so then why haven't LE who impounded the van in FL made a statement?

Most internet posters believe Gaby was killed on a difficult trail after a fight. She could have fallen with/without Brian's help.

by Anonymousreply 342September 19, 2021 8:56 PM

I don't believe it was premeditated.

She was nagging about petty little things like dirty feet. If he had been smart, he would have asked for the ring back. A wife has to put up with so much more than dirty feet if she wants to stay married. These two wouldn't have made it past a year.

Instead he took the abuse and then killed her. And of course, it's not acceptable. And it's not her fault.

But a nag and a person sensitive to criticism don't work well as a couple.

by Anonymousreply 343September 19, 2021 8:58 PM

Fed the body to alligators? Come on, things like that don't happen.

Lots of women will choose undesirable partners just to have a boyfriend.

by Anonymousreply 346September 19, 2021 9:02 PM

She should have demanded he get a fuckin job or start taking his meds again to shut the voices up instead of "nagging him" about his dirty feet, amirite, R343?

by Anonymousreply 347September 19, 2021 9:03 PM

R327, I’m not disputing what the witness saw. They saw Gabbi get hysterical and try to fight her way into the van window. Yes. Brian, who I feel is high, threatened to leave her there. Maybe she dared to dawdle. One thing is absolutely true: Gabbi was deathly afraid of being left there and Brian taking off in the van. Brian in fact did this to her. He left her and drive home in her van.

I do think Brian went home to Florida to get more meth. Did he share a lil with Gabbi? Did it make her either a. Overdose or B. Kick up anxiety? Maybe. He wouldn’t be the first awful boyfriend to introduce his partner to drugs. Their lifestyle of living with his parents points to druggies. Did Brian’s parents know about his drug problems? While talking to the cops I notice at one point the bearded cop has to ask Brian “what’s ya wanna do!” Because Brian is a lil high and and being told he’s the victim by the maga cops and he’s spinnin in his head. After that he reveals he DOES have a phone. That lie he told made zero impact on the dumb cops. They prod Gabbi as she’s in the back of the cop car “ you wanna tell him you love him and everything? We will tell him you love him! They carry this message to Brian. Gabbi says to the cop, “ tell him to charge his cell phone” like a mom of a dumb kid. Yeah, Brian is a manipulative scumbag. The cops were awful and made Gabbi’s situation WORSE. - I am r315

by Anonymousreply 348September 19, 2021 9:04 PM

R347

The point I'm trying to make is that if you have to nag your partner, the relationship is already over.

Communication has to be respectful. Perhaps Gabby's dissatisfaction with Brian was coming out through the dirty feet comment when there was more underneath.

Good relationships are tolerant. These two were not tolerant of each other.

There's another report (see the video in this thread) that they were in Ashton, seen in a bar at 10 p.m.

by Anonymousreply 354September 19, 2021 9:12 PM

The fact that a murder was not premeditated does not mean that it was not intentional. A person can form the intent to kill in a matter of seconds. It’s also unlikely that a death during a domestic quarrel would be an “accident.” People can survive falling down stairs, being shot, and even being hit by cars—if you’re going kill someone, you probably have to make a real effort. In other words, even if he was “nagged” and angry, if she died during a fight or an attack the odds are good that he intended to kill her.

by Anonymousreply 355September 19, 2021 9:14 PM

R352

Piss off. I'm posting these comments because we can all learn from this tragedy. Get out of relationships where you don't respect one another.

by Anonymousreply 356September 19, 2021 9:14 PM

Has it been reported that he had a meth problem or is it all speculation?

by Anonymousreply 357September 19, 2021 9:35 PM

R356, Agreed. Marriage counselors will tell you that when a couple argue and fight if either one repeatedly disses or puts down their partner rather than being supportive then there's severe emotional abuse. Marriage isn't reparable when it gets to that point.

Hopefully followers of this tragic murder case will look at their own friendships/relationships and exit when there are any similar signs of abuse.
Exclusive video from Chopper 5 shows crime scene investigators on the ground in the Spread Creek Dispersed Camping Area, just outside of Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, as they search for Gabrielle Petito. The video from Sunday shows a tent covering a portion of the ground, surrounded by what appears to be search teams. It’s unclear what is underneath that tent – but you can see what appears to be an investigator off to the side taking pictures. We are not at this time able to confirm what they have found.

What makes this case so interesting is the role SM/internet sleuthing has played,

by Anonymousreply 405September 19, 2021 10:46 PM

R403 most likely. Reports state that a body was located in the Spread Creek Camping Area. If you look at the map R122 posted, that is directly where the video of the van was captured.

by Anonymousreply 406September 19, 2021 10:49 PM

The story of the young MA woman who flew to AZ to meet the Phoenix cop she met on Instagram and was found dead after separating from him while mountain climbing in 100 degree heat has been totally overshadowed by Gabby.

Yes, her body was found, but her family still wants some answers and the Phoenix Police Department have cleared the cop and basically closed the investigation.

by Anonymousreply 407September 19, 2021 10:50 PM

Phone data and video all help to triangulate and find. He could only have trudged so far carrying a body and surely left tracks.

An aside to survivors of family road trips in the 70s and 80s: can you imagine those trips being chronicled with a forward and rear facing dash cam? 😂

by Anonymousreply 408September 19, 2021 10:55 PM

There is a gap between “accidental” and “premeditated” killings where state law can make a big difference, and a lot of cases are in this grey area.

“Accidental” is something like, Brian tripped and knocked into Gabby, pushing her off a cliff. That seems unlikely here.

“Premeditated” would be if the police found evidence Brian had searched how to dispose of a body, and killed Gabby the next day. That does seem possible here—something about that “clean out the storage locker” trip is odd.

But most likely this fell into the in-between area, in which Brian killed Gabby on some degree of impulse. As R355 says, though, that does not mean it was unintentional or accidental. Did Brian have even a moment to think before doing this? Was something in the way that would have given him the opportunity to step back and away (such as loading a gun, entering or leaving the van)?

On the other hand, the pattern of violence in their relationship could lend credence to an argument that Brian acted in self-defense. Frankly, I think this is bullshit, but that prior police encounter will really help his defense IF there is no evidence of premeditated killing here.

My guess is his legal counsel and family have already been working on a defense. He is in hiding to limit any possible exposure to the police (including through media) and deprive them of any evidence they don’t find themselves.

by Anonymousreply 409September 19, 2021 10:56 PM

They were already searching in the spread creek campground area before that video was released. The Elk Hunters had already brought attention to that campground and likely investigators had other information as well. I am sure she was pretty close to a road as she wasn't hard to find and he wouldn't have carried her far.

by Anonymousreply 410September 19, 2021 10:57 PM

If it's confirmed that the body is Gabby, I think the boyfriend will panic and kill himself...imo.

R407, what issues are outstanding? It’s a very sad story but the body was found with no wounds or marks etc. the same day she went missing. It looks like she wasn’t used to the heat. There’s absolutely no evidence that the cop did anything.

by Anonymousreply 426September 19, 2021 11:16 PM

R409 I don’t really agree with your analysis.

Murder, by defintion, is intentional. If you unintentionally kill someone by being reckless or negligent it’s manslaughter.

Accidenris a complete defence - you had no intent and weren’t behaving recklessly or negligently.

Murder always involves some degree of premeditation - it has to in order for intent to form. But premeditation can literally involve seconds.

by Anonymousreply 427September 19, 2021 11:17 PM

R425, that’s exactly what I thought. He even opened with the message about the family. He broke the news to them right before speaking publicly.

by Anonymousreply 428September 19, 2021 11:18 PM

So… is Brian still in the clear as long as he keeps his mouth shut? “Silence is golden,” after all. I mean, they can’t arrest him, can they? He has a lawyer and he doesn’t have to talk, and apparently in Florida (where the crime happened, or something…) there are no laws except the 5th Amendment, which trumps all.

The above is what I learned from the first thread about this case, right here on DL.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

by Anonymousreply 436September 19, 2021 11:24 PM

R435 I read in one article that the reason Laundrie's parents had called police and reported him missing was because there was evidence in the mustang at the reserve that he intended to harm himself or had tried to harm himself. The parents then drove the mustang back to their house. Seems he learned from his parents...when in a crisis / doing wrong just take the car and drive away...

Totally possible she wandered off just as Brian said (wait, I forgot — he hasn’t said anything and doesn’t have to!) and died of exhaustion or exposure. All Brian has to do now is go back to his parents’ house like none of this ever happened, not say a word to anyone, retain his lawyer, and this will all blow over for him.

That’s the beauty of the 5th Amendment, perhaps the best thing about this country.

People have been convicted on circumstantial evidence before.

The evidence from the Tiktok couple, the guy in the Ashton bar, and the police video will testify as to state of mind. Domestic abuse has already been established.

Then there is his bizarre behavior after Gabby's death. They will get a conviction.

by Anonymousreply 477September 20, 2021 12:17 AM

I think the Thune video spots the van somewhere between the break at Forest Road 30290 and Forest Road 30290A, about 500 meters or so from Uhl Hill Road where there is a campground attracting a lot of RVs. What a strange place to park, especially when there are more "desolate" places to park the van if you go a few kilometers east more.

by Anonymousreply 483September 20, 2021 12:25 AM

While the Bethune video may have helped, I don't yet believe it was the clincher. Weren't the authorities already in the Spread Creek area and already had access to both mobile's history?

by Anonymousreply 484September 20, 2021 12:29 AM

Yes, the investigators were already there and apparently the body was found last night / early this morning. They then cleared the whole park. They likely already had cell / wifi info and knew from the Elk Hunters that they had been there.

While the van might have been helpful in pinpointing a location at a specific time - we don't know what the teams already knew - it didn't crack the case. People on here and reddit seem to think the investigators only have the same information the public does. Just because the public only found out about the last known location of the van doesn't mean LE found out at the same time.

by Anonymousreply 485September 20, 2021 12:33 AM

I told you was dead, and that she knew he was dead.

I also told you that he was stupid, and he is. With all the empty spaces in Wyoming he could have used to dump the body, he picks a popular camping area and it's found in a couple of days? Idiot.

And yes, he not only knew she was dead, he knew he was responsible for her death, and would face criminal charges if any fragment of the truth came out. If she was just missing he'd have been treating this like a missing person case and cooperating with the search, instead he lawyered up, clammed up, and let the whole world assume he killed her. Nobody does that, unless the alternative is being arrested for murder.

Are Brian's parents liable for any criminal activity? Or for just being callous.

According to Reddit Brian stayed at a friend's home, using it as a safe house, when the crowd got too angry and big around his parents' home. If true would that friend be liable?

by Anonymousreply 494September 20, 2021 12:50 AM

"Would you like to revise that sentence?"

Yes, but the Datalounge doesn't have an "edit" function.

As for Brian's parents, there's a possibility of "obstruction of justice" charges, if they obstructed justice. Giving a son who won't talk about what happened in Colorado house room or paying for a lawyer isn't obstruction of justice, but lying to the police about his whereabouts would be. Loaning the car might be, I don't know, I'm not a lawyer and sure as hell don't know about what passes for law in Florida.

by Anonymousreply 495September 20, 2021 12:54 AM

I think Reddit has done a lot of heavy lifting in pushing the idea that the van bloggers cracked the case, Reddit threads were full of "I get such a bad vibe from that video, this feels different, this is sinister" comments which didn't make sense given we already knew the van had been there because the elk hunters saw it. Plus, the FBI had phone info by that time, too.

A few people were pointing out that LE was there before the van footage was released but they seem to think the release of the footage on YouTube prompted all this.

It was nice to see the van there for visual confirmation but it wasn't necessary.

by Anonymousreply 542September 20, 2021 10:01 AM

Pleading the 5th might work in Florida, but her death (murder) happened in Wyoming. How would that work. Wyoming officials will be questioning him? I'm not a lawyer, obviously. That's why he's "missing". He knows they'll be after him. I still think another body will be found...his.

Also, the two were held in the van with an FBI agent.

by Anonymousreply 568September 20, 2021 6:15 PM

R566, in case you are legit: it’s the same law everywhere in the U.S. A prudent murderer will never talk to the police without his attorney present, and certainly will not testify at his own trial, because that would allow the prosecutor to cross-examine him. It won’t prevent the jury from finding him guilty, but it will let the defense attorney try to work his black magic and argue that the defendant was mistreated and/or misunderstood.

In this case, though, I doubt Brian’s parents can afford a competent trial attorney. If he’s caught, he will probably have to accept a plea bargain.

by Anonymousreply 569September 20, 2021 6:28 PM

Ok...thanks R569. I thought the 5th might have been different according to state, with the interrogations. Some posters were saying in Florida, the 5th fully protected him...if he never said anything, he couldn't be touched. Got it.
