The Other Two on HBO Max

Hilarious new comedy (30 min episodes).

One of the protagonists plays a gay actor. It’s about a kid who becomes an instant celebrity because a video goes viral and how his two older siblings who are such losers try to latch on to his celebrity.

Considering I’ve been watching so many murder shows that I figured it was time for laughter—and this show is funny!

It reminds me of the wackiness of arrested development

This show is definitely funny! I actually do LOL at a lot of the things they say. I love Brooke!

loved episode 9 where he accidentally does the live hole pic...

by Anonymousreply 4September 24, 2021 12:06 AM

Wasn't that on MTV or something first?

by Anonymousreply 5September 24, 2021 12:26 AM

I think TBS but I could be wrong? It got moved to HBO max for season 2

Episode 10 is brilliant.

Agreed R7. I was kind of blown away by it. It showed how Pat and Chase became "the other two." And the scene with everyone in the hospital room was really well done.

Agree with R7 and R8, my ptr and I finished it tonight and we thought it was really excellent. And I love Drew Tarver's hairy body. That chest and legs, he's so cute.

The kid who played Chase showed some range this season. His performance in the finale was very surprisingly strong.

Love the Dubeks.

I love the gay scene between the brother (shit, I can’t remember names at all) and the hot, bearded lawyer Grindr hookup (in the episode where the Dubeks join the weird church). It was such a typical sexy Grindr meet up where you have sex for the sake of sex and there is nothing emotional about it. The guy with the beard played it exactly right— nice but emotionally distant

Yes R11. This season really felt like one of the few shows actually written by a gay man about gay men. The Cary stuff wasn't written for a straight audience. Very refreshing.

I think I could detect when the pandemic filming started -- I thought the first two episodes were a little ordinary, and then BAM it really had some teeth in the writing. The two leads looked a little different, physically, too, which makes me think this was the stuff they did after lockdown.

Drew Tarver, who plays the gay brother Cary Dubek is actually gay and an absolute cutie.

They really do a brilliant job skewering current celebrity/social media culture and how stupid and shallow it is.

by Anonymousreply 15September 27, 2021 8:00 PM

They are filming season 3 right now.
