Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Sheesh.

Good for them! They both look great. And healthy.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | August 29, 2021 12:33 AM |
They still look pretty good.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 29, 2021 12:34 AM |
I thought that Jason Priestly was dead, but then I looked it up and it turned out to be Luke Perry who passed away. Those two look interchangeable.

R4 not at all
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 29, 2021 12:37 AM |
I had the area around my eyes done, just for the reason you see in those pics. It was the one area of my face that took away from an overall "youthful" look. My goal was not to look younger, but just to look good for my age. And I didn't want to look tired all the time.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 29, 2021 12:37 AM |
Surgery around the eyes risky for men? ...not at all

Ian Ziering is 57. Holy shit.
They both look fantastic. I’m ten years younger and do not look like that.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 29, 2021 12:39 AM |
Ian looks fantastic for a 57 year old.

I recommend it, too!
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 29, 2021 12:40 AM |
I've always crushed on Ian. Though I'm no fan of the pronounciation "Eye-an". But he's still hot as fuck.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 29, 2021 12:41 AM |
Men with surgery around the eyes think it looks good and that no one notices.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 29, 2021 12:44 AM |
I can attest that eye surgery is a great option and can give you the name of my surgeon.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 29, 2021 12:45 AM |
Ian looks great considering he was 40 during 90210's first season.
Gabrielle Carteris was 37.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | August 29, 2021 12:47 AM |
OP is a queen. She's not surprised, she's SHOCKED!

(Poor dear.)
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 29, 2021 1:06 AM |
Harsh lighting, OP. I’m more impressed with Jason - it looks like he’s kept his own hair, in the front at least, a I love the hairy chest. Ian is wearing a toupee. When was this pic taken? Today is Jason's 52nd birthday.

They both look good. Maybe they have under-eye bags but they're nothing horrible. Adds character.
I think both still have an interest in looking good, but I don't think they're the types to undergo plastic surgery on a regular basis like *cough* Tori.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | August 29, 2021 1:35 AM |
I agree, they look great. I am surprised that they look to be close in height. I thought Jason was short (5'7"-ish) and that Ian was relatively tall (6 foot?).

And Ziering's forehead looks tighter than a snare drum.

Well, Ziering looks pretty much the same.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | August 29, 2021 2:04 AM |

Joe Biden.

If you want to see great (youthening" eye surgery on an older man, look no further than Dr. Anthony Fauci. If it's done wisely, it can really improve one's appearance. I'd link a photo but I assume you're all aware of him!
My eye doctor is encouraging me to have my upper lids done as they're sagging so much she thinks they may be hampering my vision. Apparently, this kind of surgery is so simple it requires no stay in the hospital and heals within 2 weeks. I hope to get it done after Christmas.

Let them age naturally lest they become the male equivalents of Joan Van Ark.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | August 29, 2021 2:25 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 36 | August 29, 2021 2:25 AM |
r36, do you think Dr. Fauci looks weird or freakish?
by Anonymous | reply 37 | August 29, 2021 2:27 AM |
NBC and Priestley himself wanted him for the role of Munch on Homicide (which went to Richard Beltzer).
There has been a lack of physical vanity in that man for awhile.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | August 29, 2021 2:29 AM |

R36 That's because, when done well, you won't notice an eye job. R34's example of Dr. Fauci is a good one.

I think of Kenny Rogers with his eye surgery. It's trickier for men to have it done and look good.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | August 29, 2021 2:40 AM |
Why, no, OP. Nothing risky about male eye jobs.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | August 29, 2021 2:41 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 46 | August 29, 2021 2:45 AM |
However, if they had simply removed the under eye fat buckles, that wouldn't be too bad.
Of course, less is more is not usually in the vocabulary of celebs or their plastic surgeons.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | August 29, 2021 2:47 AM |
I could have sworn that Priestly had major reconstructive surgery after his 2002 car wreck (like Montgomery Clift), but now can't find any stories that say that.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | August 29, 2021 3:00 AM |
btw Ian Ziering's first name is pronounced "Eye-un" because of what linguists call "the Northern Cities vowel shift"—which made names like "Ian" (pronounced normally) sound exactly like "Ann(e)" (the "a" sound in 'Anne' became like 'eeanne'). To avoid stigma some parents who named their boys 'Ian' insisted on the "Eye-unn" pronunciation. It's called hypercorrection. I went to college with an "Eye-unn."

As someone who could really use eye surgery (red bags under, genetically drooping uppers) I thought a forum of gay men might have some good advice, surgeon recommendations, things to consider. The bags are from facial fat loss that is normal with aging (which occurs regardless of how thin or fat you are). There are no products or tips that help when you've got this, as many men do. Some people try fillers but the cost of maintaining them for a few years would be equal to surgery. I've also yet to see photos/videos of fillers helping with the bags. I did fillers once and couldn't see a 5% difference.
Instead, as always on this site, there's a bunch of snide (while not insightful or funny) comments and multiple links to photos of Wayne Newton and Kenny Rogers. I'm sure by morning, someone will see this thread and rush to add photos of David Gest from 2003.
sigh

R53 the site is on the downhill in a way I never expected.
It’s been getting worse for years but now there’s never useful info etc. it’s all bitchy shit and trolling. Every thread is the same.
Years ago we could be funny and bitchy but helpful and insightful, now? Never. It’s bitchy but not funny and never helpful. Ever.

I can’t afford eye surgery so I’ll just get some thick framed glasses, maybe with a slight tint to offset the bags.

I have been on this site since 2002. Datalounge has NEVER been a site for gay men to give each other good medical advice. EVER. The medical advice here has always, always been awful, even when people are being sincere.
You knew that already, though. Since you've first come here, you've known damn well that other posters here are not here to be supportive regarding your elective surgery, or to radiate positivity about it. You just want to enjoy presenting yourself as a victim.

R53, there' some lady who just went viral on Tiktok after demoing a Peter Thomas Roth product on her undereye bags. It was filmed in real time and it actually worked. Of course it's not permanent, but it's a lot cheaper and safer than surgery.

I have the same problem and the surgery is more complicated than you might think. I'm going to have it done and I hope I don't end up looking like a cat.
Throw a pair of Ray bans on either one of those guys and I would fuck them into next year. Priestly is especially fine.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | August 29, 2021 3:26 PM |
IT's not risky, but they are above average and have always been handsome their whole lives, there's no reason they should end up looking like the other Hollywood phonies.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | August 29, 2021 4:00 PM |
When they did that BH90210 in 2019, the first thing I noticed was how good Ian Ziering and Gabrielle Carteris looked in comparison to the rest of the cast, all of whom (except maybe Tori) were considered to be much more attractive in their youth.
Brian Austin Green looked especially bad (reminding me of someone who crawled inside of a bottle every night). Shannen was obviously sick. Jenny's face didn't move. Tori's been spackling her face for years and wearing Barbie's hair extensions can't hide that mess. Jason looked okay, but like Brian, he looks like he likes to party (something I know DL has no problem with). Something as simple as laying off the booze can save you a few years.
But Ian and Gabrielle looked great to me. Seems not being the hottest has saved them from going to extraordinary extremes to remain young and beautiful. They look the better for it.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | August 29, 2021 4:17 PM |
Brian looked fine
by Anonymous | reply 69 | August 29, 2021 4:20 PM |
I just remembered you can (in slow motion) actually SEE a glimpse of IAN's COCK on the first episode of season #7 of Beverly Hills 90210 after his charcater Steve walks out of the shower! Tiffany Tiessen was on the same scene, this came out on DVD in 2009 and originally aired in 1996, I don't know how the editing crew just didn't noticed that at the time, this show was actually viewed by lots of underage people!
When I first watched the show I was only thirteen.

My sister swears by this stuff and got me a bottle of it to try. Have to admit, I was skeptical, but lo and behold, this stuff works, even if it’s just temporary. Creases in the forehead gone.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | August 29, 2021 4:58 PM |
Surgery around the eyes for men isn't risky if you're smart enough to know how far to go and when to just fucking stop.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | August 29, 2021 5:03 PM |
Agree they both look great and Ziering in particular gets the DL "I Look 10 Years Younger" award.
At some level unsurprising given that they were both cast for the roles because they were very young looking 20somethings who could pass for 16 or 17. (sorta kinda)
But I suspect if you put a 25 year old Ian up against some other 25 years olds back in the day, he'd look markedly younger.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | August 29, 2021 5:11 PM |
Jason's major race car injuries were broken bones in his lower extremities and spine. I think he just had cuts and bruises to his face, but nothing major. I wonder if he still smokes - those look like smoker's eyes to me.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | August 29, 2021 5:35 PM |
R75 he fractured several bones in his face and had his nose nearly destroyed, he was in a coma for several days and had to have his face reconstructed, at a certain point his heart stopped beating, gladly that lasted less than three minutes.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | August 29, 2021 5:39 PM |
Upper eye surgery on men is the problem, not lower blepharoplasty.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | August 29, 2021 5:44 PM |
According to the NYT, one week after the crash:
[quote] The doctor for the actor Jason Priestley said today that Priestley was making remarkable improvement from head and spinal injuries sustained in a high-speed racing crash last weekend. Priestley sustained a broken back, a moderate concussion, a broken nose, fractures in both feet and many cuts and bruises to his face and neck. Doctors expect him to recover fully.
Six months later when Barbara Walters did the story on 20/20, his face had been "smashed beyond recognition." Really?

I've decided my undereye bags have to be addressed in the next year or two.
I've researched the fuck out of the procedure because I fear ending up like Kenny Rogers.
This guy specializes in it, and his work looks really good.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | August 30, 2021 10:04 AM |
R86 good under eye surgery won't remove every minor line - it simply reduces the fat under the skin and tightens the area. Bad under eye surgery "erases' every vestige of wrinkles and produces a phony, too-smooth look that can be easily spotted. Most surgeons know how to do the former, but are pressured by clients to do the latter. Don't fall into that trap.

Men are more handsome when we age naturally. Women like the grizzled look. The ladies look good with a subtle nip and tuck. Like Christy Brinkley. Just as long as they don’t go full Madonna. She looks like a reanimated corpse.

R61 That product is essentially glue. It creates a magical improvement which lasts a few hours but you look like you have shiny vaseline under your eyes and it wipes off. Probably doesn't even last an entire workday so you start off looking fresh and by the end look exactly like yourself.
They used to sell a version of it in carts at the mall for several hundred dollars. people got suckered into buying only to realize it doesn't look so great an hour or two later.

R79 go on one of those websites such as primewire and watch the first episode of the seventh season, some 20 minutes into the episode he is at the when Tifanny Thiessen comes in, after he leaves the shower and go gets his clothes you can see it, though this moment lasts less than one second.
