I love the "soft light" of Fall.
It's so calming and peaceful.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | August 27, 2021 3:52 PM |
Yep, we’ll all be dead eventually.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | August 27, 2021 3:54 PM |
Lol R2.
Namaste to you, too!
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 27, 2021 3:56 PM |
Going too fast, I'm not ready for summer to end.

Pumpkin Spice time, everyone!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 27, 2021 4:36 PM |
All the years fly by, really.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 27, 2021 4:40 PM |
🎶 Will I see you in September? 🎶
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 27, 2021 4:43 PM |
It's in the 80's here right up til Halloween anymore, thanks to global warming. Last year we had green leaves still on the trees til November, which was unheard of when I was a child.
September is just August II.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 27, 2021 4:46 PM |
I can't tell if r5 is serious or is just being a cunt. Little on earth is worse than pumpkin spice. Devoting months to it instead of ten minutes after eating Thanksgiving dinner is a crime against humanity. I avoid Starbucks and Trader Joe's during this season, and frankly, every other season as well.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 27, 2021 4:47 PM |
Thank God. The humidity can't dissipate fast enough. I always travel in the fall because it's the best time--mild weather, most of the country has little rain, no crowds, no screaming kids.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 27, 2021 4:51 PM |
try to remember the kind of September...

Major shit is coming down
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 27, 2021 4:55 PM |
Okay R14, I'll bite.
What kind of "major shit," and when?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | August 27, 2021 4:57 PM |
I love fall, but wish I was in a better space both mentally and physically to enjoy it. I have too much on my mind.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 27, 2021 4:57 PM |
and it's probably going to be another 3 months before the weather actually cools down to normal fall temperatures.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 27, 2021 5:08 PM |
Well, R14?
We're still waiting.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 27, 2021 5:13 PM |
Fall is the death of summer and it makes me sad. It gets dark at 8 pm now and is noticeably darker at 6:30 when I finish up with work.
I think we’re going to have an early fall. Some leaves are already turning and the yellow jackets are being stupid already, usually don’t see this kind of frenzy until October.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 27, 2021 5:35 PM |
R14, here . Except economic collapse, homeless increases and covid variants. Get your head out of your ass and face the music

Not me. I hate August. September and the fall and all that brings is my next favorite time of year after spring. I don’t like extremes in the weather.

R16, we’re here for you, hun. And we ain’t goin nowhere.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | August 27, 2021 7:27 PM |
With COVID on the uptick, I'll be expecting a new round of stimulus checks when everything shuts down again in the fall.
Thanks, Joe!
by Anonymous | reply 25 | August 27, 2021 7:58 PM |
Fall is my favorite season.
Not too hot, not too cold.
And it gets dark early.
What more could you ask for?

I don't mind Fall much, but I hate winter. I wish we could have a long Fall, 2 weeks of Winter around the holidays, than a glide into a decent Spring, then a long Summer.

move to the south US. That pretty much describes our weather. Though winter and cold temps don't really happen until late January.

Summertime kids in the street. They were up on the roof laughing at the heat. That was the last I ever saw of you. Now it’s December, cold and dark. No more rainbows up on Central Park.

by Anonymous | reply 46 | August 31, 2021 11:11 PM |
I like autumn until about Halloween. November is ghastly in Chicago. The leaves all fell off the trees by Halloween, but the previous two years I was still raking leaves into December.

Quote from OP: "This year is just flying by, isn't it?"
Yes it is and the anxiety and subdued terror of what is happening to our country continues without relief. I do hope you all are dealing with it much better than I am. It affects us all and we all cope in various ways. For people like myself who have always been "worries", it has been mentally devastating. My mother worried about everything. I always told myself I would never do that, yet here I am. I am not sure if it is a learned behavior or hereditary. Either way it truly sucks, 😆. If I only had zannies! Anyone know how I can do that? 😇
by Anonymous | reply 48 | August 31, 2021 11:21 PM |
R48- That should be worrier. Fall has always been my favorite time of year. Almost spiritual. The relief from the heat is so welcomed. It is the only season I really love and look forward to. Pumpkins! 🎃
by Anonymous | reply 49 | August 31, 2021 11:25 PM |
I've never felt so alienated in my life. My mother is (newly and finally) out of my life (by my choice) and the rest of my family has pretty much ostracized me as a result. I have very few friends left and my birthday falls in September. I am increasingly thinking about how meaningless my life feels and how few people would care if I was gone. I just don't know how to feel better.

I love this version. It's beautiful. Have it as your theme song this autumn, OP.

I'm just glad summer is finally winding down. It's really hot here in Georgia, and I'm ready for the cool that usually takes hold from, October to till about late April. Those are my happy months as far as the weather goes.
That means long cool nighttime walks and time to myself to enjoy the weather and fresh air.
I just love it!

September is usually ghastly here. It's when summer kicks into high gear and it seems to go on forever. Sometimes it stretches into Oct. I like when Nov arrives, then the holiday season from Nov-Jan is my favorite part of the year. I put up the Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving and it stays up until Feb 1. Although last year it stayed up all year. I put it up in Nov 2019 and took it down for about 2 weeks in Feb 2020. Then back up it went due to the pandemic and stayed up until March 2020. I needed something that gave me little moments of happy and coziness during all the chaos.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | September 2, 2021 7:30 AM |
Oops, I meant it stayed up all year until March *2021* when the lights started to burn out.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | September 2, 2021 7:31 AM |
Believe it or not, today - today was exceptionally Autumn-like in (my part of) NorCal. didn't get above 70 and "all the leaves are brown" and the skies were a bit overcast, winds blowing. Felt like an actual fall-like day.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | September 2, 2021 8:08 AM |
Fall? It's 28°C today. It's so dry we still have forest fire warnings.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | September 2, 2021 8:11 AM |
We do too, r77. but today was cool. we have another month and half before we're out of the woods. but today felt like an actual fall day.

Norgie @ r91
I assumed electricity was cheap in Norge what with all the hydroelectric dams there. No?
by Anonymous | reply 95 | September 17, 2021 7:07 PM |
R95 No. We are unfortunately part of the EU market (even though we are not part of the EU, go figure). And the electricity is VERY expensive in the EU right now, so it's exspensive here too. What sucks is Norway is cold half the year. We can expect electricity bills 3 to 4 times more expensive than usual this winter. Can't wait!
