So many tourists/vacationers visiting national parks these days have no respect for nature and safety. If you’re entitled enough to break the rules because you don’t think you have to follow them, you deserve what you get (jail time, fines, or being gored by a bison you tried to get a selfie with, burned alive in a hot spring jumping in after your off leash dog went in because you didn’t want to follow rules—both and many more examples happened in Yellowstone). People are stupid.

There is a reason that they built the boardwalks and have posted instructions to stay on them throughout the park. Of course these idiots would like to just stomp their way through the park, destroy the ecology and end up severely burned or dead; that way, they or their families can sue the Park Service for not keeping them safe!

Fuck her. I echo R1 and think the judge was far too lenient despite R1's supposition that rules and laws put in place to keep idiots safe are Taliban-esque.

r12, I remember the story about the young man and the dog. Absolutely horrible. As others have said, she's lucky she wasn't hurt. She got off easy with jail time and a fine.
