Menu Help: What pairs well with Swordfish?

I am getting some Swordfish. I will grill it (marinade will have lemon and garlic).

I need sides to go with this grilled Swordfish.

What should I do?

by Anonymousreply 1August 22, 2021 1:02 AM

[quote] I will have red and white wine.

With swordfish you really need to serve Cherry Coke.

A nice Jello salad is always a welcomed addition to any meal, I've found.

by Anonymousreply 5August 22, 2021 1:07 AM

Green salad.

by Anonymousreply 6August 22, 2021 1:07 AM

Don't listen to r6. You need green BEAN salad.

by Anonymousreply 7August 22, 2021 1:09 AM

Grilled asparagus.

by Anonymousreply 8August 22, 2021 1:09 AM

by Anonymousreply 9August 22, 2021 1:11 AM

Tomato sauce and prunes.

by Anonymousreply 10August 22, 2021 1:12 AM

How about some sabzi polow. Its what we always make with fish. We also have a nice tomato, coriander, and onion salad on the side.

+1 on the grilled asparagus. Dab on a little olive oil, lemon, salt and pepper beforehand.

by Anonymousreply 12August 22, 2021 1:13 AM

French fries! Its fish'n chips after all.

by Anonymousreply 13August 22, 2021 1:16 AM

Where the fuck is Greg when we need him?

by Anonymousreply 14August 22, 2021 1:17 AM

Ratatouille would go nicely. Add some steamed baby potatoes too.

by Anonymousreply 15August 22, 2021 1:17 AM

R14 Greg overdosed on Prunes and shit himself to death.

by Anonymousreply 16August 22, 2021 1:22 AM

Usually I'd say tomatoes and prunes, but swordfish goes best with tomatoes and raisins.

by Anonymousreply 17August 22, 2021 1:24 AM

Greg is the right wing troll and incel Defacto or Dejure or Fuckface

by Anonymousreply 18August 22, 2021 1:36 AM

Rice. Something colorful to offset the white of the swordfish and the white of the rice.

by Anonymousreply 19August 22, 2021 1:42 AM

Roasted new potatoes

by Anonymousreply 24August 22, 2021 3:27 AM

I avoid swordfish because of the high mercury content.

by Anonymousreply 25August 22, 2021 3:31 AM

Garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus.

by Anonymousreply 28August 22, 2021 3:40 AM

anyone know a rice dish for this menu?

by Anonymousreply 29August 22, 2021 3:45 AM

Instead of rice, how about an orzo (rice-shaped pasta) salad with tomato, Kalamata olives, and feta cheese? (Vinaigrette dressing.)

by Anonymousreply 30August 22, 2021 3:52 AM

Cream of Sum Yung Gui

by Anonymousreply 31August 22, 2021 3:56 AM

Three people suggest grilled asparagus in August.

Have you never heard of any other vegetables?

by Anonymousreply 32August 22, 2021 4:19 AM

Zucchini. Look up swordfish zucchini Italian style for a recipe. Ate this in Rome a few times and it was delicious.

by Anonymousreply 33August 22, 2021 4:20 AM

Here's something that illustrates my suggestion of orzo salad (with tomato, Kalamata olives, & feta cheese). This photo has cucumber in there, too, which I guess would be OK but not necessary.

I would slice my Kalamata into long pieces, not O-shapes.

i'm not a fan of zucchini.

by Anonymousreply 35August 22, 2021 4:34 AM

Zucchini can be kind of bland, IMO. I used to work at a hotel that served afternoon tea. Along with the scones, they also served zucchini bread and, IIRC, banana bread. The zucchini bread was really good.

by Anonymousreply 36August 22, 2021 4:38 AM

Zucchini alla scapece: Zucchini with garlic and mint fried in olive oil. The mint and garlic complement the fish. My mouth is watering. Guessing this would work with eggplant as well.

by Anonymousreply 37August 22, 2021 4:50 AM

What a lovely story about zucchini, r36, or your work career, or baked goods, or whatever that was about.
