The Murder of a Latin Lover- Ramon Novarro
Forgive me, I was born in the late 80s and grew up in the 90s. I never knew about this murder, or Ramon Novarro! So sad that an old Hollywood star, and Leading Man from the silent film era would go out like that, in his late 60s! Awful!
And then the two young white pieces of shit who killed him got off easy!!!!! Wow.
Old Hollywood has so many scary tragedies and stories. But it still is so magnetizing and seductive.

The brothers who murdered Navarro, Paul and Tom Ferguson.
Did they get off easy because he was gay?

From Wiki
Novarro was murdered on October 30, 1968, by brothers Paul and Tom Ferguson, aged 22 and 17, who called him and offered their sexual services. He had in the past hired prostitutes from an agency to come to his Laurel Canyon home for sex, and the Fergusons obtained Novarro's telephone number from a previous guest.[17][18][19]
According to the prosecution in the murder case, the two young men believed that a large sum of money was hidden in Novarro's house. The prosecution accused the brothers of torturing Novarro for several hours to force him to reveal where the non-existent money was hidden. They left the house with $20 they took from his bathrobe pocket. Novarro died as a result of asphyxiation, having choked to death on his own blood after being beaten.[20] The two perpetrators were caught and sentenced to long prison terms, but released on parole in the mid-1970s. Both were later re-arrested for unrelated crimes for which they served longer prison terms than for the murder of Novarro.[21] In a 1998 interview, Paul Ferguson finally assumed the blame for Novarro's death.[22] Tom Ferguson committed suicide on March 6, 2005. When Paul Ferguson died in 2018, he was serving a 60-year sentence for rape in Missouri.[23][24]
Novarro is buried in Calvary Cemetery, East Los Angeles, California.[25]
Novarro's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is at 6350 Hollywood Boulevard.

Yes, the two donkeys who killed Navarro got off easy because they killed a gay man. A gay man's life wasn't worth much, not even the life of a prominent silent film star. They got out of prison and went on to commit more crimes. Supposedly Navarro had invited them over to just hang out and be guests in his home, but I find that kind of hard to believe.
Navarro was mentioned in Kenneth Anger's delicious but filled with inaccuracies "Hollywood Babylon." He claimed that Rudolph Valentino had gifted Navarro with a "black lead Art Deco dildo embellished with Valentino silver signature." Later he talks of Navarro's murder; he says that he "choked in his own blood, the lead Art Deco dildo had given him forty-five years earlier thrust down his throat." I think Navarro did choke on his own blood, but not because he had lead dildo shoved down his throat. No such dildo existed. Whoever heard of an "Art Deco dildo", anyway?

I thought Kenneth Anger said they bludgeoned him to death with Cass Elliott's deadly half-eaten ham sandwich.

Navarro did die by choking on his own blood. But there was no dildo.
LAPD kept mum about the weapon used to batter Ramon Novarro to death. However, at trial the prosecution revealed the sad fact that Ramon was beaten with a cane, a memento from one of his films. He was beaten to death with something that meant a lot to him by one brother. The other fell asleep and when he woke up Navarro was dead.
Navarro used to hire escorts. One escort gave these two Navarro’s number and they called him offering him their sexual services.

It's really terrible that he died so horribly. He was said to be a nice man. But hiring "escorts", strangers to come to your house and take care of your sexual needs....always a big risk.

I’m shocked Ryan Murphy hasn’t told his story (or Murphy’s version of it) yet.
