And is central to Donald Trump's GOP
A new and rapidly growing Christian movement is openly political, wants a nation under God's authority....

I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do, because I notice it always coincides with their own desires.

Separation of church and state is a cornerstone of their beloved Founding Fathers. Aren't they all down for the FFathers when it comes to the 2nd Amendment?
They need to rethink things.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 12, 2021 7:06 PM |
Are they seriously buying into the idea that Donald Trump is remotely Christian??
Talk about cognitive dissonance

[post redacted because independent.co.uk thinks that links to their ridiculous rag are a bad thing. Somebody might want to tell them how the internet works. Or not. We don't really care. They do suck though. Our advice is that you should not click on the link and whatever you do, don't read their truly terrible articles.]

R4 Get used to it. She predicted so many ways to the end of civilization that for sure she'll be right with at least one of them
“Welcome to Mercy,” the greeters said to people who could tell stories of how what happened to them here had delivered them from drug addiction, alcoholism, psychological traumas, PTSD, depression, infidelities, or what the pastor told them was the “sexual confusion” of being gay, queer or transgender.
America is in the midst of a great battle between the forces of God and Satan, and the forces of Satan roughly resemble the liberal, progressive agenda. Beware of the “seductive, political, demonic, power-hungry spirit that uses witchcraft to control God’s people.” Beware of “freedom that is actually just rebellion against God.” Beware of confusion. Beware of “rogue leaders.” Beware of a world that “preaches toleration of things God does not tolerate,” and on it went for a full hour, a man with a microphone in a spotlight, pacing, sweating, whispering about evil forces until he cued the band and gave instructions for eternal salvation.
You have to [bold]want[/bold] to believe this stuff.

Why can’t they just move to the Middle East? There they can have all the guns and repression they want.

I'm not surprised, as terrifying as this information is. This faction of Dominionist Christianity has always existed in this country, but now they are gaining political footing, have huge media/propaganda channels at their disposal, and essentially have an entire political party (of a 2 party system) pandering to their side. They know how to market themselves, have deep roots to old political money/think tanks here and overseas (look up that guy's book called The Family), and they have essentially been playing the long game for decades. Sometimes I feel like the left/Dems/liberals, independents, etc. underestimate what this particular religious demographic of America has planned if given enough power.

"When Fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a Bible."
Usually attributed to Sinclair Lewis but Lewis scholars have never found that exact quotation although Lewis did express similar thoughts.
