Never married. Gay? Bi?
Ugly.

This is DataLounge, so yes, of course. Totally gay.
"Oh Sherrie" was originally titled "Oh Barry", about his torrid affair with the still-closeted Miss Manilow, who freaked out when he heard it, and begged him to change it.

SO cute. Love him!!

He never married sherrie. I don’t think he’s gay, but I don’t blame him for not wanting to be a part of journey. Neil and Jonathan are nuts!

He was sexually abused as a kid.

Didn't he have an anti-gay moment in his past?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 4, 2021 4:43 AM |
If he did marry Sherrie, she would be Sherrie Perry!!!

He couldn't be gay with that tragic mullet!!!

He supposedly, later in life, fell in love with a woman who had recovered from cancer, then she relapsed and died. He was devastated. He's from Hanford, not far from where I grew up, and when he was younger there were a lot of rumors about him and underage girls.

I heard he had a lot kids by different women

He’s a major introvert. Not gay. Prone to depression and being reclusive. Broads need a lot of attention They don’t do well with these types.

HUGE PENIS.

LOVE his voice.

R6 Steve is an interesting guy. You're right about his being sexually molested by someone outside his family when he was just a kid. He also suffered the effects of his parents having divorced. His mom had some type of muscular disease similar to Lou Gehrig's. Steve is in that rare category of people who simply walk away from fame & fortune at a certain point of reflection in their lives. He did fall in love with a woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer and later died. I think Steve had major issues with abandonment, which is why he never married. I don't think he is gay. He also saved most of his Journey money and wasn't blowing it left and right like the other guys in the band. He could walk away because he was worth $50 million at the time.

He reminds me of a beagle with a mullet.

Did he lose his voice? He just ....disappeared.

I remember reading years ago when he said when he got the call about joining Journey he was working on a turkey farm building coops.

The lamest musician in the history of lame musicians.

My parents went to high school with Steve Perry. I found out he graduated from Lemoore (pronounced lee-more by locals) High School from a news story. I asked my mom if she knew him, and she said not really. He graduated two years earlier. She also said his original last name is Portuguese. It was common for people named Pereira to change it to Perry. All of my mom’s relatives came from the Azores and Portugal.

That's such a great song!

I saw Journey in the early 1980s. Pat Benatar was the warmup act. It wasn't the coolest lineup but it was nice listening to people who could actually sing.

I love him so much. One of the all time greatest voices in rock. He has a new Christmas album out and looks great. No, I'm not his publicist, just love the guy since the 80s.
And sorry... there is no JOURNEY without Steve's voice. Just like there is no Van Halen without DLR and without EVH.

R25 One of the all time greatest voices in rock? This gotta be a sarcasm.

Chiming in to comment on his incredible voice. I think that gets overlooked by a lot of people who are distracted by the 80’s cheese-fest typical of bands in that era.
As a relative lay dying in the hospital years ago, one of her kids played Journey’s Escape album. Over and over and fucking over. She didn’t even really like Journey that much, neither did the kid, but I wasn’t going to override her kid’s choice and say something. To this day, I can’t listen to any song on that album, so when it comes on SiriusXM, I scramble to change it. Bummer because it was a decent album.

He has a daughter. I do think he's probably gay. His relationship with the woman who had cancer. Reminds me of John Travolta's relationship with the woman who died. I know it sounds means, but I think maybe the terminal illness was something that drew Steve / Travolta to the women.
That said, I love his voice. He put out a new song (We're Still Here) that actually sounds pretty damn good.

R26 not sarcasm at all. Sorry your ears are broken.

R28, Steve Perry is definitely not gay. I heard he is difficult though...

Behind the Music (VH-1): Journey was proof to me that Steve Perry is difficult. I've seen tons of episodes of Behind the Music and the Journey episode was the most hilarious. It was like Rashomon, listening to Steve's version of events vs. ... the rest of the band's version of events.

You all should check out The Band Perry. It's his kids! (Okay I'm kidding, their father is a pediatrician who is coincidentally named... Steve Perry.)

For some reason, I just feel that unbeknownst to the rest of us, he and Barbra Streisand are very sexually attracted to and correspond with one another secretly. I can't get this thought out of my head, and I hope that the Perry Family or Mr. Streisand don't ever find out.

R29 Says Steve Perry fan. He's up there with Fred Durst at the top of the lamest poll.
