Sunisa Lee is the new GOAT!

Wait, it only takes x1 medal to make a billy-goat these days, right? Sorry, can't keep up with all this Insta-Tik-Tok bullshit. She'll at least get a GrubHub sponsorship, right?

Simons has 5 or 6 medals. 4 of which are gold, op. You're just trying to be an asshole.

Stop acting like she didn't dominate in the 2016 Olympics.

by Anonymousreply 1July 29, 2021 4:49 PM

good for her

Move over, Simone. Suni is much younger, more talented and She’s here to stay!!!

by Anonymousreply 3July 29, 2021 6:08 PM

Suni is the wrong color for the new woke America.

by Anonymousreply 4July 29, 2021 6:39 PM

Love love love Sunisa!!!

Sunisa means a very beautiful night.

by Anonymousreply 5July 29, 2021 6:47 PM

She is the first American of Hmong descent to win a medal at the Olympics. Trump would hate her.

is anyone here hmong? what are hmong people like? whats their reputation

by Anonymousreply 7July 29, 2021 7:25 PM

The Hmongs to Laos are like the Rohingyas to Myanmar. Both ended as refugees in Thailand who doesn't want anything to do with those two ethnic groups.

by Anonymousreply 8July 29, 2021 7:38 PM

They don’t give GrubHub sponsorships to people who only eat four times a month.

by Anonymousreply 9July 29, 2021 8:04 PM

Where's her Wheaties box?

by Anonymousreply 10July 29, 2021 9:28 PM

They are tribes who worked with the Americans during the Vietnam War. Theyd have been killed after the Americans left. So they were brought here.

R8 Nothing like the Rohingya who are illegal migrants to Myanmar from Bangladesh.

by Anonymousreply 11July 29, 2021 10:06 PM

Read the USA Today link and your Hmong questions can be answered,

by Anonymousreply 12July 29, 2021 10:15 PM

Kim Zmeskal. Jeez, there's a name we haven't heard in about 20 years. One of the most overhyped, overrated gymnasts who was gifted a world title the year the championships were 'coincidentally' held in her country and then showed her true abilities when she landed on her fat ass during her routines at the Olympic games.

by Anonymousreply 13July 29, 2021 10:28 PM

R11 - Rohingyas were brought to Burma (Myanmar) by the British to deal with the locals during the colonial years. The Hmongs were ethnic people immigrated from Southern China and lived in Laos. But they cooperated with the US and fought against the locals during the Vietnam War. The fate of those Afghan minions who worked for the US in Afghanistan will be the same.

by Anonymousreply 14July 30, 2021 8:09 AM

R14 The new Rohingya migration to Myanmar began and in larger numbers after the Bangladesh war of 1971.

I took a class in college that focused (for a small part of the semester) on the Hmong who'd relocated to in the Central Valley in California after Vietnam. I vividly recall reading personal essays of their experience as, essentially, US operatives that were astoundingly dark.

I have the utmost respect for those people and couldn't be happier for Suni. She was, appropriately, astounding in her own right.

by Anonymousreply 16July 30, 2021 9:05 AM

I'm over discussions about who is the GOAT -- gymnastics is a subjective sport -- but Suni rocked it yesterday!

by Anonymousreply 17July 30, 2021 8:45 PM

I keep reading this as "Susie Lee".

by Anonymousreply 18July 30, 2021 9:06 PM

I don't get the impression that Suni's family is very wealthy -- and gymnastics is an expen$ive sport -- so I hope she makes some bank with endorsements.

by Anonymousreply 19July 30, 2021 10:14 PM

Suni's family had to sell t-shirts and egg rolls to pay for her lessons and travel. Her mom said she made Pho and sold it to the Hmong community, which contributed to her finances. Her dad's accident has also caused financial problems.

This ‘GOAT’ shit is fucking embarrassing

by Anonymousreply 21July 31, 2021 2:14 AM

Good for her

by Anonymousreply 22July 31, 2021 4:41 AM

A gold, a silver and a bronze for Sunisa at these Games. She has a complete set of medals.

by Anonymousreply 23August 1, 2021 2:20 PM

She deserves all the accolades she’s receiving, but the girl is no GOAT. She received a single gold medal.

by Anonymousreply 24August 1, 2021 2:29 PM

[quote]what are Hmong people like?

The men are humongous!

by Anonymousreply 25August 1, 2021 2:50 PM

Just my experience in ‘80s Portland - the resettled Hmongs from the Nam debacle held onto what they knew but pushed their kids to assimilate and achieve. And they did.

St Paul had a huge turnout for their gal Sunisa. She did so well and deserves her accolades.

I always wonder if other nations are in awe at how racially diverse the USA Olympic athletes are.

by Anonymousreply 26August 1, 2021 3:18 PM

Suni Lee is indeed the "goat of the moment," as Sigh-mone imagined herself to be. Nadia Comaneci will forever be the actual greatest gymnast. (And she refuses to be referred to as a barnyard animal name.)

by Anonymousreply 27August 1, 2021 4:00 PM

R19, Simone's family is very well-to-do, in contrast.

Tasteful friends:

R 28,which makes Suni's victory even more an example of the" American Dream." Working immigrants, scraping to provide lessons and travel for their daughter , are rewarded with her winning the gold. Mom won't have to cook and sell food to get the money anymore.

by Anonymousreply 29August 1, 2021 7:10 PM

I didn’t know Simone billes came from a well off family

Sumi’s story is very inspiring. It’s sad that the media had to take away from her hard earned victory In order to prop up Simone Billes.

by Anonymousreply 30August 1, 2021 7:14 PM

Odd fact: Sunisa Lee went to the same obscure suburban Twin Cities high school as Loni Anderson, Richard Dean Anderson, and Peter Krause.

by Anonymousreply 31August 1, 2021 7:15 PM

Suni is the wrong color.

by Anonymousreply 32August 1, 2021 9:10 PM

I like her. She's got a good head on her shoulders, and she has the right idea to stay away/minimize contact on social media.

If we are putting asterisks next to the names of the winners at this year's events shouldn't there also be asterisks next to the other undeserving winners of the past such as Mary Lou Rotten?

by Anonymousreply 34August 1, 2021 9:20 PM

There are no asterisks, r34.

by Anonymousreply 35August 1, 2021 9:50 PM

R35, I concur. Keep in mind that Suni is the only gymnast who beat Simone in an All-Around since 2013 -- she did so on Night 2 of Olympic Trials.

by Anonymousreply 36August 1, 2021 9:54 PM

She's also very pretty, even though she's so tiny.

by Anonymousreply 37August 1, 2021 10:14 PM

How can a gymnast have fake nails??

by Anonymousreply 38August 2, 2021 12:15 AM

Love Suni but have never seen her teeth, ever. She must feel ashamed of her smile because she only smiles closed-mouth. That might make it hard to get sponsorships unless she gets them done.
