‘The Exorcist’ reboot will actually be a direct sequel to the original film

This film is getting the ‘Halloween’ (2018) treatment and will be a direct sequel to the original, retconning everything else.

This project is being made for Blumhouse.

He should watch The Heretic and copy it directly, I'm sure it will be fine.

Please don't "LOL" your own post. It's bad form.

by Anonymousreply 2July 26, 2021 3:44 AM

They shouldn’t even make this.

by Anonymousreply 3July 26, 2021 3:50 AM

Will Regan be living in Tysons Corner or Gaithersburg?

by Anonymousreply 4July 26, 2021 3:58 AM

They must get Linda Blair! Otherwise there’s no point.

by Anonymousreply 5July 26, 2021 4:00 AM

In keeping with the D.C. theme, grown-up Regan will be played by Kellyanne Conway.

by Anonymousreply 6July 26, 2021 4:07 AM

David Gordon Green is gonna fuck this like he did Halloween.

by Anonymousreply 7July 26, 2021 4:09 AM

And the reason Halloween 2018 and all other Blumhouse projects are mediocre is because Blumhouse is spread too thin.

This is what happens when somebody has a monopoly on horror. No TLC and lame shows.

by Anonymousreply 8July 26, 2021 4:42 AM

Demi Lovato will be Regan while Alok will be Pazuzu.

by Anonymousreply 9July 26, 2021 4:43 AM

I went to a screening where William Friedkin spoke and took questions from the audience. One young woman asked if the part where tubular bells starts to play and the nun's habits are blown by the wind is meant to symbolize when evil enters the film. I always thought this was true and thought the nun's thing was so brilliant.

Much to my shock Friedkin said no one ever asked him that before and he hadn't thought about that before. (Maybe it was the editor's idea?)

Is that a penis in his chest?

by Anonymousreply 11July 26, 2021 5:25 AM

This won’t be good

by Anonymousreply 12July 26, 2021 9:25 AM

Will Stephen Miller play the Beast?

by Anonymousreply 13July 26, 2021 9:34 AM

[Quote] And the reason Halloween 2018 and all other Blumhouse projects are mediocre is because Blumhouse is spread too thin.

Not a fan of his remakes but movies like Happy Death Day, Unfriended and Freaky were fun.

by Anonymousreply 14July 26, 2021 9:52 AM

Not surprised.

by Anonymousreply 15July 26, 2021 10:08 AM

Let’s have it now!

by Anonymousreply 16July 26, 2021 10:19 AM

This is gonna flop

by Anonymousreply 17July 26, 2021 3:41 PM

The television show was actually really scary. But it went on...

by Anonymousreply 18July 26, 2021 4:08 PM

Season 1 of the show was great. 2 however…

by Anonymousreply 19July 26, 2021 4:12 PM

[quote]In keeping with the D.C. theme, grown-up Regan will be played by Kellyanne Conway.

Except Pazuzu find her so vile & horrifying (and smelly), the thought of entering her makes him sick, so instead he hangs out at the food court of the Crystal City mall, chatting up homeless people trying to escape the DC heat

by Anonymousreply 20July 26, 2021 4:21 PM

What in the world is that monster? It looks like baby Godzilla wearing fairy wings. Oh, and a huge pinga!

by Anonymousreply 21July 26, 2021 4:22 PM

Will mannish Jamie Lee Curtis be attached? She can play a church official - like a Monsignor- with doubts, or something.

by Anonymousreply 22July 26, 2021 4:51 PM

Is the demon going to just lay in bed the whole film again? What a lazy fuck.

by Anonymousreply 23July 26, 2021 6:06 PM

Ellen Burstyn is returning (if she lives that long!) Hurry up and get this made!

by Anonymousreply 24July 26, 2021 6:16 PM

^^^ Is she playing the demon?

by Anonymousreply 25July 26, 2021 6:18 PM

Burstyn will return in the wizened Max Von Sydow role.

by Anonymousreply 26July 26, 2021 7:19 PM

She will probably play her original role, as this is a direct sequel to the original, and come in to lend some knowledge and wisdom to whoever is dealing with the possession.

by Anonymousreply 27July 26, 2021 7:23 PM

The new one is starring Leslie Odom Jr who is playing “the father of a possessed child” who “tracks down” Burstyn’s character, Chris MacNeil, for help.

It’s expected to be released December 2023.

Didn't Pazuzu murder Chris in the TV series?

by Anonymousreply 29July 26, 2021 9:44 PM

R29 READ. This is a direct sequel to the original, meaning, like 2018’s Halloween, everything besides the original is being retconned.

by Anonymousreply 30July 26, 2021 9:47 PM

What about Linda Blair?

by Anonymousreply 31July 26, 2021 9:49 PM

I kind of understand why they wouldn’t bring Linda Blair into this, but it’s a little sad at the same time. It seems a bit awkward bringing Burstyn back as the connection to the original without also bringing Blair.

by Anonymousreply 32July 26, 2021 9:49 PM

I don’t understand why they would keep Blair away r32. She should be a part of this too.

Granted, they’re planning a trilogy, so if this does well they may have her in a sequel? Possibly?

by Anonymousreply 33July 26, 2021 9:52 PM

What about me? I was the ultimate method actor on that set, even though I wasn’t on camera! I deserved an Oscar!

by Anonymousreply 34July 26, 2021 9:53 PM

Why would Linda not be in this series? Last I saw her, she didn't look horrible.

Oh well, Geena can step in again.

by Anonymousreply 35July 26, 2021 10:46 PM

They probably won’t have the daughter at all.

by Anonymousreply 36July 26, 2021 10:49 PM

The article says the movie sequels are NOT wiped from continuity.

by Anonymousreply 37July 26, 2021 10:49 PM

The sequels will not be acknowledged at all but you can still consider them canon if you choose.

by Anonymousreply 38July 26, 2021 10:50 PM

Linda looks great!

And she's an animal lover and supports animal rescue!

by Anonymousreply 39July 26, 2021 10:51 PM

I think Linda looks great, too, and would love to see her in this, but I’m not sure she’s taken as a serious actor these days. She’s made some questionable b-movies in trying to pay the rent. And she’s not that great an actor, tbh. I guess it depends on how elevated the producers want this to appear. You’ve got to know all this is going through the minds of the producers.

by Anonymousreply 40July 26, 2021 11:47 PM

[quote]R27 She will probably play her original role, as this is a direct sequel to the original

“Direct Sequel”? She was 40 in the original.

Is the experience supposed to have taken THAT much of a toll on her looks?

by Anonymousreply 41July 27, 2021 12:25 AM

"Yo, Pazuzu! What are your PRONOUNS?"

by Anonymousreply 42July 27, 2021 1:23 AM

R42, it's Cardi B as Regan possessed by Pazzuzu. Instead of Mercedes Cambridge voicing the demon, Cardi B will just rap.

by Anonymousreply 43July 27, 2021 2:29 AM

“We are not German! We are Swiss!”

Probably where Trump got the idea to feny he was German to his Jewish tenants but he’s so stupid he got the Swiss the & Swedish mixed up
