Can we talk about…Eartha Kitt?

All things Eartha. Dish, spill, critique, whatever.

One of the best performers who ever lived. She never took shortcuts and gave all to her audience.

Her sister Bertha was even more talented, but blackballed by her own sister.

I got to see her perform several times and she was always like fireworks going off on the stage.

She was a principled woman who was forced to pay a huge price for being so. I respect her endlessly, both as a person and as a performer.

I watched a documentary /biography years ago, Kitt had a lot of anger and bitterness under the surface.

One of the questions asked her about love and she flew into a rage.

She spent an easter sunday with a friend of mine and his wig-hairdresser boyfriend. She sat in a turban and either knitted or crocheted while chatting quietly and they all three enjoyed the meal.

She's so fabulously terrifying!

Oh, Santa Baby...

Santa baby, a '54 convertible too, light blue I'll wait up for you, dear Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight

She was terrific with this song in the West End FOLLIES. The show wasn't terrific, but she certainly was.

Looking for that documentary online, Kitt visited her birthplace and was bitter all those years later of being rejected for being born of mixed race ancestry.

The documentary included a performance of Kitt singing a song about "Joe". Thrilling performance!

I don’t understand why this wasn’t a big hit for her in the 80’s?

By far my favorite Eartha Kitt song:

You could not go into a gay bar anywhere without hearing it at least twice.

Her "Santa Baby" is the definitive version. So funny.
