They should bring back all of the killed off characters for the final episode.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | July 22, 2021 3:02 AM |
This show is nostalgia for me.
I remember when it first premiered, how much I loved The Walking Dead.
The characters, the story, everything. I couldn't get enough of it.
After it became popular, AMC completely ruined it.
By seasons 5/6, I didn't even recognize it any more.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | July 22, 2021 3:06 AM |
This show died the day Jeffrey Dean Morgan and his "aww shucks" hammy acting showed up.
It's absolutely ridiculous that Negan is still on the show. What worked in the comics doesn't necessarily work for a TV show.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 22, 2021 3:09 AM |
I watched the pilot when it aired back around 2010 and then stuck with the show for eight years. It was very hard to give up completely because 20% of the episodes are interesting. Eventually TWD started to feel like a big waste of time. I think it's very fitting that artistically-bankrupt AMC is going to milk the final season into three parts. This decision is clearly motivated by money and will suck the last bit of dramatic tension out of this soap opera.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 22, 2021 3:14 AM |
Absolutely, R4.
At this point, they're just dragging it out.
I wish they would just end it already.
There are at least four other Walking Dead shows in the works right now, so why extend this one?
It just shows how greedy the top brass at AMC really are.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | July 22, 2021 3:17 AM |
I agree R3. If Negan never showed up or killed off two less beloved characters, the show would've been a top international juggernaut for a few more years. Glen's death helped kill off the international Asian fan base & Abe 's death helped kill off the international military fan base.
It didn't help here in the US that Trump won in 2016 & many didn't want to watch a Trumpian character on the show ( I felt the same way & almost quit watching). I knew Negan lasted for years in the comics but I thought with the sudden ratings drop that he would've been sent packing in some way. I doubt the Negan character was popular with the cast members after they lost 2 popular cast members & the ratings dropped in many markets.
I've never liked the Negan character even after his special origin story last season. I'd love to see him die but I don't think the creator will allow regardless of how much $ he costs the franchise.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | July 22, 2021 3:27 AM |
I broke up with TWD after Negan showed up. Between him and that Ezekiel character, and Alexandria storyline, I couldn't decide which one to hate more. Before all that, this show used to be my darling.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | July 22, 2021 3:30 AM |
I gave up when Glen was beaten to death by Negan, it had just become grief porn at that point. I will be interested to know if the zombies will prevail in the end, though.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | July 22, 2021 3:30 AM |
I hung in after Glenn and Abe were killed, but then losing Carl and his father Rick was too much.
You can’t expect a show to survive on the shoulders of Daryl and Carol. I love Melissa McBride, but she’s lost the rooting value she once had.
I get that part of the show’s appeal was you never knew who could be killed off. Unfortunately, they took this too far by killing off too many important characters.
I’ll watch until the last episode out of loyalty, but I haven’t enjoyed the show in years.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | July 22, 2021 3:41 AM |
R9 I haven't enjoyed it much either since Rick left but I did like the Whisperers as villains.
They should've kept them as foes & dumped the batswinger Negan altogether.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 22, 2021 3:49 AM |
I gave up when Carol started sleeping with men. I preferred her as a lesbian.

I think it's really sad that the ultimate "cure" is found in a vaccine made from tangerines. Too long of a journey to have it wrapped up around citrus.

by Anonymous | reply 14 | July 22, 2021 3:57 AM |
The other problem with the show - aside from Negan - was that they never developed any new ideas. It was just the group moving from one part of the country to another. Why not bring them back to the city and change the scenery?
Oh, right. AMC is too cheap.
And what happened to those WD movies with Andrew Lincoln? I can't believe they want to develop more WD shows. The moment has passed. The Walking Dead is no longer a cultural phenomenon.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | July 22, 2021 5:08 AM |
R15 It's been said before but AMC has noting else like it.
I watched the young ones version that recently came out but I don't plan to see anything else after there first , 2nd & 3rd shows go off the air.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 22, 2021 5:19 AM |
I agree R15. Even that spin off "Fear the Walking Dead" was such an absurd show to be running while the main series itself was still on.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 22, 2021 5:20 AM |
It's like beating a dead SJP (aka horse). They should've wrapped this show up at least five years ago. So many of those characters like Carol and Darryl just became totally annoying. A nice twist ending though would be to have Rick Grimes emerge from the shower in the last episode a la Bobby Ewing.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 22, 2021 5:26 AM |
I’ve long stopped giving a shit about the show. It was great the first couple of seasons, but in S3 I thought it started to progressively decline. They killed off Herschel at the end of S3, then in S4 the pointless terminus storyline. Then they brought in all different characters and groups, it got so convoluted. Neegan coming on and killing Glenn off was pretty much it for me. Rick leaving put the final nail in the coffin.

Will you watch the final season, R19?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 22, 2021 5:46 AM |
Also R20 in the big war zone fight scene where they fought dozens in not hundreds of human strangers, the tiger knew who the good guys were to avoid attacking & who the bad guys were in order to pounce on them.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 22, 2021 5:48 AM |
No, R22. Its been so long I wouldn’t even know what’s going on. I imagine only Darryl and Carol are still on. Only way I’d watch is if Rick came back.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 22, 2021 6:30 AM |
Andrew Lincoln was the heart and soul of the show. I missed his shirtless scenes from the first season; what a waste of a hot man not to show off his body more often after that. When Rick left, so did I.
And yeah, Negan sucks. Like Trump, he just won't go the fuck away.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 22, 2021 6:50 AM |
Jeeze. I used to be such a HUGE fan of TWD and then a couple of years ago it lost me. I amanged to last the season after Rick left and then forgot about it. Does anyone know which season that was?
I will wait until this final season has ended and then binge watch whatever I have missed.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 22, 2021 6:52 AM |
Jeanane Garofalo said it best in a podcast: Negan is an annoying villain because he will not shut the fuck up. Every Negan scene was him hamming it up to the rafters, trying to be as vulgar as possible. The Governor managed to be way more sinister while saying 1/10th as much as Negan. Fuck Negan.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 22, 2021 7:02 AM |
I checked out the season when Negan appeared, because it became clear that WALKING DEAD was just going to repeat itself and never search for a solution to the zombies or the warlords. You can't drone on for 13 years and act like there's no hope.
You guys will have to tell me who survives in Rick's group. I heard Karl and Glenn died. When they end the shit, I might go watch the key episodes, but I'm not suffering through the Same Old, Same Old.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 22, 2021 7:02 AM |
Everyone from the original group is dead except Carol, Daryl, and Maggie. Carol and Daryl aren't going anywhere because they're getting a spin off.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 22, 2021 7:10 AM |
I hope the show ends by showing the first zombie to succumb to decomposition. That would be a nice of way of showing that the Walker Era is truly starting to end and humanity can blossom again. I think it's weird how they never acknowledge that zombies will eventually turn to dust.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 22, 2021 7:12 AM |
Rick is dead?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 22, 2021 7:13 AM |
He's like Schrodinger's cat, both dead and alive.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | July 22, 2021 7:17 AM |
It won't likely end like the comic series did, which had Rick die perfunctorily in the next to last issue, and the last issue jumped ahead a few decades to a civilization similar to the mid-19th century were "walkers" were virtually non-existent.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 22, 2021 7:19 AM |
I watched it up until the evil guy from supernatural showed up. It had been a chore to watch it for a while, but that just sort of pushed it over the edge for me and I threw in the towel.
I had hated the storytelling for a while. Under Nicotero et al, a backgroundish character would be brought to the fore, get a back story, get a story arc, then get killed off. Rinse and repeat. Shake and bake pathos.
Some people should stick to special effects.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | July 22, 2021 7:23 AM |
Jeffrey Dean Morgan channelled a ‘Dystopian Fonzie’ in the role of Negan. The character is insufferable and cheesy.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | July 22, 2021 7:33 AM |
I checked out whenever they decided to let Negan live. They should have smooshed his brains when they had the chance. I was thinking of getting caught up for the final season premiere but I'm not sure I could handle more Negan and his BIG EXPOSITIONS 🙄
by Anonymous | reply 36 | July 22, 2021 7:36 AM |
The recent spinoffs suck. FTWD had some potential at first, but Gimpleberry, Chambliss and Goldberg ran it into the ground and ruined it. Bringing Morgan over didn't help either.
Morgan is annoying as fuck. It's always about him having some never ending existential crisis and they focus an entire episodes about him. They did that same shit with Beth.

One thing about all three of the Walking Dead series that makes me laugh is how diversity-by-committee every group of survivors are. Every group is just the right mix of multicultural, no matter where they are. Even in Bumfucke Oklahoma out on the plains its like 25% white, 25% black, 25% Latinx and 25% mixed-race/racially ambiguous.

I gave Fear a long try despite ridiculously stupid storylines, like when Madison shoved the plastic spoon into that guy's eyeball and he didn't immediately go blind. So believeable, Jan. And then I finally checked out when they blew up that dam in Mexico but somehow Madison and the others managed to survive that. That show was all over the place.

I thought I would hate the young actors, but I actually like them.
They're a bit "high school drama club-ish," but it's okay.

TWD lost me when two characters I cared about were brutally slaughtered and the character who did was allowed to try to redeem himself OVER and OVER again.
At a certain point, it became apparent that the writer were never gonna try to widen or explore any other facet of the world they'd created. What if a vaccine were developed? What if the zombies themselves changed, became faster or more cunning? What if there was a tie to alien lifeforms? Something? Anything?
Nope, the show would always be about the ragtag group of survivors versus the evil human group bent on domination du jour. Rinse, wash, repeat.
And killing off Carl and Rick (and Madison in FTWD) to save money just robbed us of anyone to root for.
This show and its spinoffs should have been knifed in the head at least 6 years ago.

The one aspect that always bothered me was that they all just forgot about finding a ‘cure’ and never dove into what caused the Zombie invasion. I know it’s a show, but it’s hard to believe there isn’t anyone trying to research an apocalypse even years on. I guess I would’ve liked the more intellectual approach.

[quote] The one aspect that always bothered me was that they all just forgot about finding a ‘cure’ and never dove into what caused the Zombie invasion.
They tried it once. With Eugene.
There were a few episodes that made it seem like Eugene knew what caused the virus, and Abraham and Rosita were trying to get him to DC to produce a cure.
They quickly ended it by saying that Eugene lied about knowing a cure.
And it was never mentioned again.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | July 24, 2021 8:32 PM |

Is Eugene still alive on the show?
by Anonymous | reply 58 | July 24, 2021 8:38 PM |
Yes, R58.
The old-timers who are still alive on the show are Rick (although he's no longer on the show), Daryl, Carol, Maggie, Michonne (also no longer on the show), Eugene, Rosita, and Father Gabriel, from the first five seasons.
Then there's Negan.
Funny how no one who actually lived in Alexandria from the beginning, survived after Rick's group got there. Deanna, her husband, her two sons, and all the other Alexandrians. All dead.
Same for Hilltop. All the people who lived there BEFORE Rick's group found them, are dead.
Rick's group is the worst!

Datalounge favorite Jacob Young is joining the cast of The Walking Dead for the final season!
[quote] 8 new cast members joining 'The Walking Dead' for its final season
Why is "TWD" adding so many new faces in its final season?
Great question.
If you haven't been keeping up with the show, the large ensemble is currently split into two groups. Four of our main characters (Eugene, Yumiko, Princess, and Ezekiel) have been taken prisoner by a strange group of mystery soldiers who live at a very large community named the Commonwealth. (You can read more about the group here.)
The majority of "TWD" cast — Daryl, Negan, Maggie, Carol, Father Gabriel, Aaron, Rosita, and more — are all back at Alexandria, searching for food for their families and friends. With the Whisperers defeated at the end of season 10, you would think that would be easy, but there's always another villainous group out on the horizon.
Unfortunately, another mystery group, called the Reapers, has it out for Maggie and her people and they're going to become a problem for Daryl and the others, too.
Most of the new faces we expect to see should all be members of the Commonwealth or the Reapers.
Laila Robins is playing Pamela Milton, the leader of the Commonwealth community.
In the comics, the Commonwealth is a group of about 50,000 survivors who have found a way to rebuild civilization.
They're led by a pretty reasonable governor named Pamela Milton and are protected by a large army of trained, armored soldiers.
Previously, some fans — and even actress Jayne Atkinson — thought Georgie may have teased a different version of this character back on season eight.
AMC recently confirmed Robins ("The Boys," "The Blacklist") will take on the role from the comics.
Josh Hamilton will be another leader of the Commonwealth from the comics.
Hamilton was cast as Lance Hornsby.
In the comics, Lance is one of the book keeper's of the Commonwealth. He's the one to greet and interview Eugene and the group before they enter the Commonwealth.
On the show, he seems to have more of a pivotal role in the community.
Michael James Shaw joins the cast as fan-favorite Mercer, the leader of the Commonwealth's army.
In the comics, Mercer is the tough-as-nails leader of the Commonwealth army who eventually forms a relationship with Princess (Paola Lázaro).
"We absolutely love each other," Lázaro told Insider in March of speaking with Shaw.
"He's a fantastic person. I'm very excited to hopefully have some deep scenes with him," she added.
We won't have to wait long to meet Mercer on season 11.
Margot Bingham voiced the mystery woman whom Eugene was speaking with on the radio.
While speaking with Eugene, she presented herself as Stephanie. Eugene went out in search of her with Yumiko, Ezekiel, and Princess and found the Commonwealth.
Bingham joins the cast as a series regular for season 11.
Soap opera alumnus Jacob Young is playing a mystery character named Deaver.
Yes, the "All My Children" and "Bold and the Beautiful" Emmy winner is joining "TWD" in a mystery role.
"Deaver" isn't a character from the comics and for all we know it's just a codename for the real character Young is playing.
If we had to guess, Young is playing one of two characters: A reaper who is out to get Maggie or Pamela Milton's spoiled son, Sebastian.
We've seen Young play the latter as fan-favorite JR Chandler on "All My Children." Though we'd love to see some Chandler vibes on "TWD," Young's bearded look of late has us putting him on team Reaper. We're ready.

What ever happened to the list of machines and "inventions" that was introduced by that Truman Capote / Quentin Crisp-type after Alexandria triumphed? Why was a gadget like a giant spikey-brush - a telephone spit with 2'-long iron spikes never invented for taking the fight to hordes?
The people want bread and circuses. Milquetoast Neegan is done. Bring us Caligula-scaled zombie slaughter-by-gadgets-in-the-Colisseum! Anihilate the zombie scourge, push 'em back into isolated pockets, and plant the seeds of reason and a renaissance of democracy!

Fear the Walking Dead was experimenting with the idea of turning zombies into fertilizer.
Supposedly, it's not bad for you to eat food fertilized with zombie compost.
I liked the concept, as well as the community that survived because of it. But as is the case with all communities that make sense in The Walking Dead universe, the writers KILLED THEM OFF.

Same here r66.
It’s a shame AMC was so cheap-ass on this show. It was developed by Frank Darabont, and he did such a good job up front that the framework he put in place held the show together for years. But AMC nickel and dimed him and eventually the show was run like total crap by much less talented people.

I haven’t finished season 10 of TWD and it feels like I was watching it years ago at this point. I think the last thing I remember is Alpha coming out of the woods and seeing Carol and Daryl trespassing.
I believe I watched up to some point in s3 of FTWD, but I forgot what happened so I started a rewatch and only got up to season 2 or 3 again. Now I haven’t watched it in forever, but it’s a show I felt had a ton of potential. I loved the first season in LA, and seeing the first stirrings of the outbreak and the subsequent breakdown of society. But I think they burned through all of that storyline far too fast. Almost immediately it turned into TWD but on a yacht, and then just became TWD: Mexico like a season of The Real World. Now apparently Morgan has somehow found his way to them? I haven’t even bothered with the third one.

I've watched episodes 1 & 2 so far for season 11. I'll try to keep it spoiler free, but there were two moments in particular that had me cringing/confused.
Episode 1, part of the group goes on a mission and they're stuck in a torrential downpour, soaked head to toe. They seek refuge in a subway station and are immediately bone dry a second later.
Episode 2, Yumiko has a total basic ass "Karen" moment and goes off on someone demanding to speak to their manager. I don't know what the writers were thinking when they wrote that into the script, she's clearly more sophisticated, well educated, and mature than that.
Angela Kang confirms in her interview after EP2, that Princess has ADHD, not schizophrenia as some speculated at the end of last season. Again, that's not spoiler-y, it just helps to put things into context in these two episodes.

TWD started losing the plot in S3. Once Frank D was gone as showrunner, TWD lost something.
Stupid decisions along the way- killing Andrea (I know she started to annoy many but that wouldn’t have happened under Frank), killing off Beth (she would have had a badass arc. Many fans were very upset she was killed), and Negan. It just didn’t work. The show also became a bit boring. Eizekel was also a WTF. The tiger was ridiculous. They should have left that out.
I almost stopped watching but the Whisperers were fantastic. Best villains by far.
Fear TWD is absolute trash. I can’t believe I kept watching until this last season ended. No more. It had such potential showing the start of the apocalypse yet blew it epically. BLEW IT.

But more importantly, when the show seemed to cater to Jeffrey Dean Morgan, his terrible acting and his "aww shucks" acting, I couldn't take it. I’m not watching this year, but can someone tell me where Michonne went? Did she take RJ and Judith? Is she on a Rick hunt? I liked her.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | August 23, 2021 4:45 AM |
Michonne went "looking for Rick," aka hoping to get more roles in big movies.
Lauren Cohan (Maggie) did the same thing, but ended up coming back to the show, when she didn't get any big movies.
Danai Gurira probably would have come back too, but she's out of luck since the show is ending.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | August 23, 2021 4:50 AM |
Lauren came back ONLY because it is the last season.
Danai will come back at the end, along with Lincoln.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | August 23, 2021 4:57 AM |
Lauren came back before the last season. She definitely came back because there is no movie career for her. That movie with Marky Mark flopped.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | August 23, 2021 4:59 AM |
I thought she left to do that tv show WTF (Whiskey Tango Foxtrot). I think Scott Speedman was in it, maybe. That got cancelled, so she came back to TWD.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | August 23, 2021 5:03 AM |
I hope they get their act together this season. I’m tired of endless runs with zombies *almost* killing somebody only to be saved at the last minute. So boring because they go to that well to often.
They screwed the pooch with Fear. It starts right before the apocalypse starts. That is interesting. Instead of fleshing that out with characters that would be interesting, and taking it slow, they did neither. I kept watching thinking it would get better, maybe give more insight into the beginnings but nope. S3 was great (that one with the family with the old mean coot). Other than that, it is a really bad show.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | August 23, 2021 5:03 AM |
R87 She did a few movies, too. WTF (TV show) was popular enough everyone thought it’d be renewed. I don’t think the network owned it so it was canceled.

That Show Runner Angela Chang is SO fucking ugly.

Did Negan kill Maggie??!!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 91 | August 23, 2021 9:23 AM |
I can't believe AMC is still trying to get these Rick movies off the ground. They are coming years too late. Are they actually trying to put these in theaters? Cause that would be dumb as hell.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | August 23, 2021 11:27 AM |
R91 Highly unlikely. For Lauren to come back only to have Negan kill her in just a few episodes? No. Also, this would be Glenn all over again. Fans would be outraged.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | August 23, 2021 11:47 AM |
I also checked out with Negan. By that time the show went from being about survival and zombies, to which white male had the smallest dick and needed to prove the most.
Nothing about Negan makes sense, but he’s the macho version of Trump so the growing white deplorable fanbase this show developed loves that shit.
I stopped watching then and every once in a while I’d hear one of the actors giving an interview about some zen BS reasoning as to why the characters like Rick and Maggie refused to kill Negan.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | August 23, 2021 12:03 PM |
I would watch a Rick movie if it was on Netflix or Prime. Wouldn’t pay to see it in a theatre, but I liked Rick and would like to know what happened to him. I have a feeling he’ll return for the end of TWD- Michonne will find him and bring him back to the group.
Or maybe not, maybe they’ll go somewhere else. Aren’t Daryl and carol splitting from the group at the end of the show? Who does that leave that Rick would know? Maggie, Aaron, Eugene, Gabriel, negan (but hopefully he dies), is Rosita still around?
What’s Andrew Lincoln been up to since he left? I don’t think I’ve seen him in anything recently.
by Anonymous | reply 95 | August 23, 2021 2:09 PM |
[quote] What’s Andrew Lincoln been up to since he left? I don’t think I’ve seen him in anything recently.
Absolutely nothing.
None of these Walking Dead alum have parlayed their roles on the show, into something bigger.
Danai had Black Panther, but that was WHILE she was doing Walking Dead.
The minute she left the show, the roles dried up.
These actors only have cache while they're on TWD.
Melissa and Norman are the only smart ones who stayed all 11 years, and got compensated VERY well for it. They both know a good thing when they see it. The others (who left on their own and didn't get killed off) weren't so smart.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | August 23, 2021 4:04 PM |
TWD died for me after the horrific head-bashings of Glen and the redheaded guy when the show made no effort to punish the killer.
It had been coming on for awhile, though, because the overall plot was always the same: Rick's group encounters even more evil human group and bloodshed ensues. The zombies were incidental. And the show runners made no effort whatsoever to expand the zombie canon by explaining their origins, finding a cure or changing the zombies' abilities (how much scarier might TWD have been if the zombies became intelligent and fast, like in 28 DAYS?).
As far as FTWD, everyone who says the show should have concentrated on the beginning of the apocalypse is spot-on. Instead, the writers blew through that potential in the first mini-season and then had to start making up contrived nonsense.
I stayed with it until Madison and her son were killed, and then realized I had no one left I was really rooting for; the show I had begun watching was now over and just had the same name.

I was kind of hoping that Negan would bash in Maggie's head, to make it a "family affair."
She and her creepy son annoy the fuck out of me.
I'd rather watch Negan on TWD, than listen to bitchy Maggie.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | August 23, 2021 9:24 PM |
The show was greatly disappointing in how they wasted the gay Jesus character. I was hoping he would be all kick-ass fighter and a sarcastic comic foil to Daryl, but instead he was Maggie's confidant and possibly her hairdresser.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | August 23, 2021 9:57 PM |
All the gay characters on TWD are EUNUCHS.
At this point, even if they had an out and proud gay MAIN character in the final season, it would be too little, too late.
Not that they would have had one any way.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | August 23, 2021 10:00 PM |
But lesbian sex scenes are fine.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | August 23, 2021 10:04 PM |
Regarding Negan, I think the show runners think Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a “get” for the show. He’s done a lot of other things besides TWD and is well known. It makes no sense otherwise why they’re trying to redeem his character at this point. They want to keep him on the show and redeeming him is the only solution it seems. Yet, how do you redeem a character as vile as Negan that killed off 2 fan favourites?
Just my opinion.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | August 24, 2021 12:47 AM |
I really wish we’d have gotten to see Andrea’s story play out. That one terrible showrunner ruined that.
by Anonymous | reply 103 | August 24, 2021 12:56 AM |
They kill off characters because they don't want to pay them any more money. They can get new actors cheaper.
by Anonymous | reply 104 | August 24, 2021 1:51 AM |
The show is cheap. What they did to Chandler was disgusting.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | August 24, 2021 1:54 AM |

I think that was the last straw for Andrew Lincoln.
He left shortly after.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | August 24, 2021 1:56 AM |
One of the best relationships on the show was Rick and Carl. It made no real sense to kill Carl off especially when he was Rick’s only living family member left that was there from the beginning.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | August 24, 2021 2:01 AM |
Then they had a shitty spin off about the zombie apocalypse through the eyes of teens. Instead of giving Carl his own spin off which would have been the same concept.
by Anonymous | reply 108 | August 24, 2021 2:07 AM |
I recall reading that Chandler's father was getting on the nerves of the wrong people. That might have been the reason Carl had to go.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | August 24, 2021 2:12 AM |
Carl had to go because he was about to turn 18 and would be paid an adult salary.

So I watched the season premiere, after not having seen the show in years, and I thought it was pretty good with the subway tunnel stuff and the others captured by the weird military group who are obvious ripoffs of the Stormtroopers from Star Wars. I have no idea what the fuck is going on with the various groups but it's the last season and I'll stick with it for the time being since I'm running out of things to watch thanks to COVID.
BTW, Negan was the last straw for me as well. I stopped watching after the season he debuted. HATED him. It doesn't look like he's a main character anymore, though, so maybe the show will be tolerable. Like I said, there's not much else to watch and I'm bored.

R117 My guess is no, from reading the creator’s comments. They still have the spin-offs going (as terrible as they are) so why spoil it? I don’t think there would be a satisfactory answer.
by Anonymous | reply 119 | August 24, 2021 3:40 AM |
Since every human was infected, what could it have been? It would have had to spread fast and wide. Also, I think some people should have been revealed to be immune. A great cliffhanger would have been to have a popular character bitten only to stay alive by the next season premiere.
by Anonymous | reply 120 | August 24, 2021 12:09 PM |
Fear the Walking Dead tried that story line in season two, R120.
The Mexican guy in the "Colonia" who was some sort of preacher, because he was supposedly bitten but survived.
In the end, they backed away from that story and he admitted that he lied about being bitten.
It was really weak.

Super Daryl clearing the train car like he was a skilled shooter was too much. I can't believe that those around Daryl would tolerate Dog 's dumbass barking (it's like taking whiny ass baby Judith on all of the runs). No other fans seem to mind except for me I guess.
Super Carol getting his knife back & the extra food was also a bit too much.
The Negan Maggie tension is ridiculous. No wife as tough as her in that world would even tolerate a hubby killer like that. His letting her die at the hands of walkers was just another jump the shark moment for me. She's going to let that go from a 50+ year old but let scared teen Gage who ran off with supplies die? That's so crappy. Farm girl Daisy Duke leading anyone when all she did was break chicken legs, screw the General Lee's pizza boy & hide behind her pappy "Uncle Jessie's gun. STFU.
I like the moves Angela Kang did in the past couple of seasons but these 2 episodes were painful to sit through. Having the "kidnapped" 4 stand there looking at a wall when they were dying to get out was just another headscratcher that didn't make sense. Princess reading Miko's name & someone saw Heath's name on it was just too much from TPTB.
Who cares about Eugene's love life or the fact that he's still a virgin? This would've never been an issue in the fast paced early seasons. TMI guys. The "s word" is used too much in this show. It dumbs down the characters & shuts me out as a viewer because only the lowest wattage folks in my life ever used it that often. I can't wait for this series to be over & done with. I'm boycotting the Rick films (if they ever get made) & anything else zombie that comes after it.

R121 Fear TWD is trash so we can forget they ever did that. Just because someone lied about it (it would be normal to lie about that) doesn’t mean is can’t be true. Fear TWD needs to end. It has some interesting characters who need to merge with TWD. The show is so difficult to watch.
They’ve not written the Maggie/Negan material well. I’m not saying after 6 years with her being gone she can’t have another perspective meaning not killing him. I can see her having had a similar situation(not as extreme though) where she can possibly allow him to live. TWD better step up this season or it will go out limping. The Whisperers were the only villains who were actually scary and interesting.

Haha but you forget that when Eugene was living in the Savior compound, he was offered lots of food and women.

R156 That’s what can be a little annoying about the show. Those little things bug me. It’s still a good show. They need to clean it up a bit with those inconsistencies. They use to explain things about the zombies. There is no way they could still move decaying like they are. They’d have no mechanisms in their body for them to move much less be fairly strong. They also look the same with no fresher zombies. Gaga already looked like he had decaying skin yet he’d only been dead for a few minutes.

by Anonymous | reply 175 | September 9, 2021 6:36 AM |
R175 The Whisperers were the most interesting villains. It was the first time the show was really scary since the first season or two. TWD actually got its groove back with them. Interesting members, interesting lead (Samantha Morton was terrifying and did a phenomenal job), and interesting story. It felt like the early seasons again.
TWD killed off too many fan favorites. They thought it was cute to keep killing off cast. While I get the whole “it keeps you on the edge of your seat” they went overboard.
They also are hell bent on shoving Negan down our throats. He’s interesting to a degree, but don’t sacrifice Maggie’s leadership ability to make Negan look good.
by Anonymous | reply 176 | September 9, 2021 11:37 AM |
Loved the show with a passion until the arrival of Negan. At that point I shut the door on the series and didn't look back. I re-watched season 1 a short time ago. The pilot episode was on of the best things ever, in my opinion.

JDM has really toned down his "Negan" this season.
No more over the top body movements, or affected manner of speaking.
No more slicked back hair or leather jacket.
He looks completely normal, and acts normal.
JDM should have played him this way from the very beginning, instead playing a caricature of Negan. That probably turned a lot of people off.
I'm actually liking him this season.

R180 Again, killing off characters so often really turned fans off. I know for a fact killing off Beth, whose story arc was getting good and had so much potential (she could have been the “Andrea” character) had a lot of fans outraged and their ratings started to plunge. I personally know many who stopped watching after her death and the Talking Dead after that episode was the most somber one to date. Viewers were upset.
by Anonymous | reply 181 | September 9, 2021 10:45 PM |
I don’t think there’s anything the show can do at this point to make me enjoy it again. I watch out of loyalty and have never missed an episode, yet I’ve disliked it for a couple of seasons now. It’s too complicated, too dark (literally hard to see) and has lost too many likeable, longtime core characters. Even the ones I loved (like Carol, once my very favourite) or liked (like Eugene and Aaron) disinterest me. It will be kind of a relief for it to be over so I don’t have to tune in anymore.

The writing for Carol has gotten terrible. She is so unlikeable now. The character development has been atrocious aside from Alpha and Beta. Every show is almost the same. And, there is no way zombies can still be kicking after a decade of rotting. Also, when they burn and are still alive (brain boiled) but a tiny ice pick through the eye kills them instantly?

It’s gone the way of old soap operas with ludicrous plot lines and stupid cliffhangers. It has jumped the shark multiple times.

Why are all the walkers fully clothed?
Why are everybody's teeth sparkling white?

I loved the first four seasons and then stopped. Didn't they announce about five years ago that was their last season?? But they reversed course and carried on?? It became too tedious. But Rick in episode one was so fucking sexy!!
by Anonymous | reply 187 | September 13, 2021 6:00 AM |
SHIT episode tonight, I couldn't even finish it. Somebody should tell the showrunners that an entire episode of somebody being held prisoner is just SHIT. They've done this a few times already.
They finally aired this episode on Sunday, R166.
And you were 100% correct.
This was the most BORING fucking episode ever.
I couldn't take it, so I switched over to the Food Network.
They need to fire that bitch of a show runner. She SUCKS!

Looks like the early reviews about this season were right.

New episode tonight.
Hey, did anyone catch Jacob Young on the episode from two weeks ago?
He was in the credits, but I didn't recognize him on the show.
by Anonymous | reply 190 | September 19, 2021 11:52 PM |
I didn’t see him, but then again, the show barely held my interest.

[quote]Loved the show with a passion until the arrival of Negan. At that point I shut the door on the series and didn't look back.
Same here. I thought it was Negan I didn't like but realized it was JDM.
by Anonymous | reply 192 | September 20, 2021 12:14 AM |
It gets boring with always fighting a new, crazy group. The Whisperers were fantastic, though. Threats from within the group are more interesting. Also, it’s hard to believe the zombies can still move given how rotted they are. They wouldn’t have the muscle to move.
by Anonymous | reply 193 | September 20, 2021 12:21 AM |
I generally just FF through the shitty expository dialogue scenes where the characters recap whatever's happened to them in the past few episodes and just watch the action parts.
by Anonymous | reply 194 | September 20, 2021 3:08 AM |
It's interesting to see this new community.
Of course, Rick's gang has brought ruin to EVERY SINGLE new community that they have found. So I expect this one to be no different.
I'm not even kidding.
They ruined Herschel's farm in season two, they destroyed the prison in season three, they destroyed Woodbury in season four, they destroyed Alexandria in season six, they destroyed Hilltop in season seven, they destroyed Oceanside in season eight, and they destroyed The Kingdom in season ten.
They are AWFUL PEOPLE.
When you see Rick's gang headed your way, LOCK THEM OUT!!!
by Anonymous | reply 195 | September 20, 2021 9:32 AM |
Interesting to see how many posters gave up on the show during Negan’s reign. I stopped watching shortly after Glenn’s skull was bashed in and before Carl’s death. And when I found out that Rick was no longer on the show. I decided that I had made an excellent decision. The show just didn’t make sense anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 196 | September 20, 2021 11:03 AM |
R195 I think you’re off a bit on those seasons. There are reasons some of that happened. It wasn’t all the fault of Rick’s group. They warned those groups they were living on borrowed time since there were really bad people out there and of course they were right. The Gov was after Alexandria, for one.
The show went way off the rails during season 7. It just sucked. It found its way back with the Whisperers. So far this season it is just ho-hum. Nothing particularly engrossing or even interesting. That could change in an instant being the last season. One reason I think the show lost some appeal is they didn’t have interesting characters like they did in the beginning.
The show really fucked up letting Frank D go. The first two seasons were the absolute best.
by Anonymous | reply 197 | September 20, 2021 11:32 AM |
I dunno R197.
Rick's group is definitely bad luck.
And I just find it so unbelievable that people were living like KINGS in The Commonwealth, but no one had ever heard about it.
Not in Alexandria, or The Kingdom, or Woodbury, or any of those other places.
They all had radios and communication devices. They all would have at least heard RUMORS about a place with Stormtroopers, and Ice Cream stores, and Walls, and a normal society. All within walking distance of where they were!!
Sometimes it's just laughable what this show comes up with.
by Anonymous | reply 198 | September 20, 2021 4:27 PM |
True r198. The Commonwealth has been around since the beginning and no one has ever heard of it! That's pretty ridiculous.
by Anonymous | reply 199 | September 20, 2021 4:39 PM |
Last night's episode was so stupid!
Connie sees the eye in the wall & goes down to tell Virgil but she puts her back to the doorway where she could've been shot, stabbed or jumped from behind. To make her look even dumber, the writers have her waste more time writing a message on a painting using a knife but her pen & paper would've been faster. The viewers are supposed to believe that these 2 morons are bright enough to survive all by themselves for this length of time? Unbelievable!!!
Virgil sure could get her out of that wall pretty fast. I couldn't buy it. I did buy that he was dumb enough to stab Connie with the knife while she was in there. I guess dumb Connie never thought to poke her black fingers thru the hole in the wall to let Virgil get a clue that her black female ass was stuck in there (& not some black guy with thick fingers or that it was one of those white crawlers or maybe even a zombie). Dumb! Dumb! Dumb!
The "hungry crawlers" in the house are obvious rip offs of Batman/Flash foe Rag Doll who can bend his body into interesting positions.
Daryl & co, using the word "clear" all the time on Maggie's home made me think I was watching some TWD CSI show. I can't wait for this show to end. No new Zombie series for me. My fave was Z Nation. They had lots more fun & scares on their show (plus a bigger variety of zombies) without all of the torture porn like tonight's episode had.
I think Father Gabe & Aaron will both die before the show's final moments.

R204 Who the FUCK is counting and ratio-ing that? Get a fucking LIFE. No one gives a shit.
The Kingdom was found- by Negan. Remember? Negan’s group was forcing about 3 or 4 communities to trade. It was only a matter of time before that went south and it was already going bad by the time Rick’s group found them.

I was freaked out by those people in the house.
And that deaf actress was fantastic. She made the scene even more terrifying, because of her deafness.
OMG. First time I've been scared watching Walking Dead in a very long time.

No, R209.
For people who are watching AMC on cable television, it was this week's episode.

by Anonymous | reply 219 | October 4, 2021 6:16 AM |
TWD comes back in Spring. The series finale will at least be 16 episodes.
by Anonymous | reply 220 | October 4, 2021 11:32 AM |
I needed a much more dramatic resolution to Maggie/Negan. Maybe we’ll get it later on, but this episode sure seemed to hint they resolved their issues.
The show is just boring rn. No, I don’t need major characters killed. I need great storytelling and we’re not getting that. The Reapers are boring. They should have kept Alpha around.
by Anonymous | reply 221 | October 4, 2021 11:49 AM |
Tonight is the Part I finale, if anyone here cares.
by Anonymous | reply 222 | October 11, 2021 4:33 AM |
This was a really good episode.
Very suspenseful. I loved the scenes with Daryl and Leah.
Pope is a hot British daddy, in real life.
The Reapers story was great.
However, I feel like the scenes with Rosita and Carol and Aaron are just filler. There was a major storm battering Alexandria, but not a drop of rain in sight at the Reapers compound? That's just silly.
Rosita, in particular, seems to have NO PURPOSE on the show.
I must say that I think the little girl who plays Judith, is adorable.
I usually despise children actors, because they're bratty and obnoxious. But the girl who plays Judith is so sweet. The actress who plays her must be a doll in real life.
Gracie, on the other hand.... she needs to be eaten by a Walker.
by Anonymous | reply 223 | October 11, 2021 8:39 PM |
The rest of the final season returns tonight. I am totally blanking on how it ended. I remember that new group had Daryl for a while, an episode with someone in an abandoned building but there was somebody living in the walls, Ezekiel and Eugene held captive by another group. Also, that standalone Negan episode where we found out how is wife died. Also, the enemy leader (old guy with glasses) was killed by... someone, maybe Daryl? Episode in a tunnel, where they made it look like Negan was setting up for Maggie to get killed by a walker, but nope.
Other than those scattered memories, I don't remember squat.

I love the Hornsby character.
But I'm still not buying the Negan redemption arc.
All of sudden Maggie forgives him? Give me a break.
by Anonymous | reply 228 | April 13, 2022 5:15 AM |
I hate the Hornsby character. Flipping a coin to decide their fates is a ripoff of Batman's foe Two-Face.
We already have the Stars Wars Stormtrooper rip offs stinking up the show. Now this douche.
TPTB have no creativity whatsoever.
The Maggie & Negan spinoff is just a slap in the face to Glen/Abe fans.
I won't be watching any TWD spin offs once it & Fear ends...
by Anonymous | reply 229 | April 13, 2022 5:46 AM |
R227 They announced a Maggie & Negan spinoff so it's obvious that they
(along with Daryl & Carol who received the first TWD spin off press release) won't be killed off.

It's a fast and easy way to wrap up their story line.

Yeah, it's kind of nazi-esque, too.
With the unfolding of the "Commonwealth" flag over Alexandria and Hilltop.

Princess reminds me of Harley Quinn so I guess he steals plenty from other comic books/franchises.
Daryl is just a rip off of CJ from the zombie mall film from over a decade ago.
Nothing new or original to see here.
by Anonymous | reply 232 | April 13, 2022 5:53 AM |
I don't see a similarity between CJ from "Dawn of the Dead" and Daryl.
They're very different.
by Anonymous | reply 233 | April 13, 2022 6:00 AM |
R233 Both are white middle aged southerners/redneck type of males with an ambiguous sexuality about them who are anti social at the start but get a "heart of gold" as they go on so they are willing to make sacrifices for others (when at the start they only really cared about themselves).
Both are great marksmen with their weapons of choice & bond more with males than females (Daryl later bonded with Carol after her daughter went missing). Both of them would start arguments with those around them at the start but then would quietly disagree with their teammates as time went by. Both have potty mouths & not much education going for them. Both question authority etc. etc.
by Anonymous | reply 234 | April 13, 2022 6:09 AM |
^ I forgot the most obvious similarity - that both are slightly muscular & love to
show off their biceps while doing athletic feats in casual hillbilly styled clothes.

Haha. I thought I was the only one who thought CJ might be gay.
by Anonymous | reply 236 | April 13, 2022 6:17 AM |
R236 The film had that blond nurse who lost her hubby at the start but the Best Buy guy SLOWLY made his way to her. The young redhead (who risked it all for the dog) also slowly went to someone else. CJ didn't comfort any of them crying females for any reason. He had no game with any of the hot chicks on that mall property. He & his 2 security buddies were just watching the tv feeds & not trying to find them some tail to enjoy for the rest of their time on the Earth. I think that's very telling don't you?
The mall had everything but living breathing women & when the elevator doors opened CJ didn't care that there was some hot chicks in it that were looking for some peen & might have needed some manly comforting.

The movie is Dawn of the Dead (2004).
There's also a scene in the movie where the three guards are just waking up, and the Kevin Zegers character mentions that he's dying for some fancy coffee drink from little coffee place in the mall.
Most television versions cut out this part, but I have the DVD and I've watched it a million times.
That doofus security guard calls Kevin Zegers a fa***t, after he walked away. CJ looks at the doofus in disgust (because he's standing there in his boxers), and tells him to go get dressed.
It's a very weird scene, and I think it's another clue that CJ might be gay, because he took offense to the doofus using the "f word."
by Anonymous | reply 238 | April 13, 2022 6:31 AM |

Kevin Zegers is one of the other security guards, and he played gay in TransAmerica. The other guard was CJ.
All three seem like cool guys, so I'm not surprised they all got along.
Doofus is on the left, CJ is in the middle, and Zegers is on the right.
