Interesting. I still think this show is a lame rip-off of the The View, but this is a good way to distinguish themselves by having a permanent male co-host.

r84 Andy Cohen tried to make a Male View happen on Bravo with Jerry at the helm and it tankes. Jerry filled in for Wendy when she had her little issue with drugs and had to go away. He did so well in the ratings they tried to show a talk show with him but that failed too.

But who needs a male The View though? The male point of view is heard all the time in media. The whole point of Barbara Water's The View was to hear smart, informed women share their opinions about politics and issues of the day. That's what made the show kind of groundbreaking in 1997 - there was never really a talk show that centered around women discussing more substantive topics. Back then, politics and the like was considered traditionally male.

I vaguely remember a talk show that came out several years ago where they tried The View format but with men. It had Mario Lopez in it.

I just looked it up. It was called The Other Half. It lasted two years.

I actually used to watch and enjoy The Talk when it had 5 women hosts, and female guest hosts. Now that they have a male host and guest hosts are always male, the vibe has changed to male oneupmanship and women deferring to men. I stopped watching.
