I'm not even sure what a buttermilk pie tastes like. Can anyone tell me? I'm not sure I want to even try it.
Someone gave me a Patti LaBelle buttermilk pie

It's like vanilla custard in a pie shell -- sweet, creamy. If there's anything on top, such as nutmeg or cinnamon, that flavor comes through too. It's bound to be good, lucky you.

Whoever is going to introduce a fucking mil pie to a bunch of cocksuckers is bound to pay the price. Happy 4th! 🇺🇸

A lot like custard pie

I'm actually eating a piece. It's not bad at all. I prefer chocolate or citrus based desserts but it's not bad with an old-fashioned glass of milk.

Speaking of Patti La Belle, I tried a couple of her frozen meals when I was in the middle of moving a couple months ago:
Chicken & Biscuits - Very good.
Mac & Cheese - Good.
Brisket Stew - Couldn't bring myself to taste it because it smelled like wet dog. Expiration date was fine so that wasn't the problem. Threw it away.
Thought I'd share since these are $8-9 each.

How does an "old-fashioned glass of milk" differ from a new-fashioned glass of milk, R5? Does it refer to the kind of receptacle from which you are enjoying said beverage?

It's an old-fashioned pie, made by poor people who never had rare treats like chocolate and citrus fruit available. Milk, eggs, sugar are all you need to make custard -- vanilla is great but has to be imported and wasn't available until modern times. In most American states, fruits don't grow in the winter months but custard could be made any time.

What kind of lunatic might not want to eat a PIE?
It’s PIE.
Eat it.

Is this a pie that’s shaped like Patti LaBelle? I’m concerned.

Post your address and I'll send you a Chrissy Metz Hummingbird Cake, made with real hummingbird.

R9, not all pies are created equal. I don't like pecan pie, ironic as I'm from Texas.

Her sweet potato pie is really good!

LaBelle has a very high opinion of herself and fancies herself a gourmet chef. I tried some of her recipes and most of them were unbelievably awful. The woman dunks everything in gallons of hot sauce, overdoes everything, adds disgusting ingredients like Velveeta and half-and-half to her macaroni and cheese, and makes liberal use of ingredients like seasoned salt. She could only be the chef in some greasy diner in a flyover town.

R14, I love her cooking.

How is half and half disgusting?

Personally, I prefer the Lawdy Miss Claudy line of cookies. All hand baked by Lloyd Price himself.

I had her sweet potato pie and it was like chewing a mouthful of sugar with each bite. Ghastly. And I love me some sweet potato pie.

I wish someone would give me a pie.

Her desserts are typically more sweet than those that are homemade (most store bought desserts are) but they are still good.

It's best eaten outdoors under a buttermilk sky.
