I think if he’s gay, he’s very tormented about it and has never acted out on it as he got older, has had sex with women to try to discourage any feelings towards men, and it would explain a lot about his current state. I feel like this is very common down south, and have met a lot of men in recovery and AA where it’s very obvious why they’re drinking or doing drugs to everyone but themselves. They don’t see gay as a viable option- it is wrong and something to extinguish.
