Are we taking wagers on Harry being offensive?
by Anonymous | reply 416 | July 8, 2021 12:45 PM |
I am surprised Megain isn't there. I mean, Kate was expected to get Charlotte fitted and then show up at their happy wedding weeks after giving birth. Surely the Duchess of Lumpybutt could lumber onto a private plane to honour the woman who turned her husband in the pliant mess she joined in holy manipumony.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | June 30, 2021 2:06 PM |
I hope they are going to go for an intertwining of the mythical goddess and the real woman as one with a very classical inspired work,.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | June 30, 2021 3:09 PM |
Will it be an action style statue? Diana hurling her pregnant body down a staircase?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | June 30, 2021 3:20 PM |
Meghan was probably forbidden to attend.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | June 30, 2021 3:41 PM |
I think Harry will act out in some way. That's his M.O. plus he's feeling selfishly butthurt that his and Mega's demands for money aren't being met from the same people they're lying about and calling "racists". Maybe someone will slip some xanax into his tea and he'll behave like an actual adult but I doubt it.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | June 30, 2021 4:04 PM |
Will we be able to see it?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | June 30, 2021 4:07 PM |
He's already acting out.
"According to a Radar source, the royal family is working hard to make sure the event goes swimmingly, but Harry is causing a bit of trouble.
This is just not the way they do things. Harry won’t show them his speech and is refusing to take part in meetings or dress rehearsals,” a source revealed. “He seems to want to just wing it. To just turn up and see what happens. They don’t even know what he is planning to wear.”"
by Anonymous | reply 9 | June 30, 2021 4:12 PM |
The Diana worshippers have already started building a shrine on the gates of Kensington.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 30, 2021 4:18 PM |
Harry will announce he is going to erect his own Diana statue in Montecito and Meghan will only charge $1000 to anyone desirous of making a pilgrimage to see it.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | June 30, 2021 5:04 PM |
$1250 for a selfie (but limited to one of hands, feel, elbows or earlobe.)
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 30, 2021 5:21 PM |
I wonder why Katie Keen was banned.
You know she’s chomping at the bit to cosplay Diana some more.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 30, 2021 5:32 PM |
R13 - you're confused. It's Meghan and Harry who are obsessed with Diana.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 30, 2021 5:34 PM |
I've never bought the cosplay charges for Meghan or Kate. Diana was photographed wearing hundreds, perhaps thousands, of outfits in her lifetime. Just about any outfit the royal wives could wear might callback to a Diana outfit in some way--color, cut, etc.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 30, 2021 5:39 PM |
R15 Not to mention those styles look far better on tall slim trim-waisted, pretty-legged Kate than short, boxy, stick-legged Meghan.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 30, 2021 5:45 PM |
I would believe anything about Harry, but just the same, I'd take anything Radaronline puts out with a huge bucket of salt.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 30, 2021 5:47 PM |
Christ, Harry is aging badly. Ginges do if the hair thins. He looks pasty and ferret-like.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | June 30, 2021 5:58 PM |
Imagine the merry hell at home. It would age anybody.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | June 30, 2021 6:00 PM |
What's the betting it will be Diana sitting on a bench and that the Medusa of Montecito knew this when she wrote her Magnum Opus?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | June 30, 2021 6:05 PM |
How do we think the Narkles will act out tomorrow?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 1, 2021 4:12 AM |
Harry will scowl and cry at the podium while using a string of Woke Words which will implicitly admonish the BRF and center around him, Meghan, and their two children.
As for Meghan, there is NO QUESTION in my mind that she has arranged to be papped tomorrow, possibly looking SAD and FORLORN, at a time of day carefully chosen to make it possible for the photos to be published in the UK papers' evening editions.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 1, 2021 5:24 AM |
Exclude doting mother part, what would the true Diana want for tomorrow. A huge scandalous fuck you to the palace or a dignified affair?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 1, 2021 5:46 AM |
Do we have bets of Lilibet being unveiled tomorrow?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 1, 2021 5:47 AM |
A true picture? Not unless someone is willing to stump up the multiple millions Meghan is quietly demanding for a full face picture of Lillibucks.
Although I'm sure she will be papped tomorrow with a little bundle in her arms, the face of which will be carefully obscured by a little merchable hat and cashmere baby blanket.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 1, 2021 6:03 AM |
Harry being an asshole prior to the unveiling. Take it with a grain of salt, of course, but if this is true I'd love to smack his fugly gob.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 1, 2021 8:47 AM |
It’s amazing how much Meghan lives rent free in your heads.

Who cares, Diana was a train wreck.
William and Harry need to stop pimping out their dead mum for attention.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | July 1, 2021 9:24 AM |

The Diana's three Spencer siblings have arrived.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | July 1, 2021 1:34 PM |
Can anyone turn up to watch as it's in the park?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | July 1, 2021 1:39 PM |
Harry has arrived.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | July 1, 2021 1:47 PM |
Imagine all the selfies to come with that statue....
by Anonymous | reply 45 | July 1, 2021 1:52 PM |
R43 - No. The entrance is through the park, but the actual gardens are behind KP and the public is not allowed in. It will only be William, Harry, the three Spencer siblings, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, and Julia Samuel, I believe. One "international" photographer (the UK press has been barred by Harry - that should get him and the missus lots of great PR down the road) and one reporter.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | July 1, 2021 1:53 PM |
^*Oh, and the sculptor, I believe.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | July 1, 2021 1:55 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 61 | July 1, 2021 2:59 PM |
The statue is... not that great. WHo are those children????
by Anonymous | reply 62 | July 1, 2021 3:04 PM |
The statue is pretty bad but I kind of thought that Diana would be with children. I'm not sure but those two children may represent landmine kids.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | July 1, 2021 3:08 PM |
What a bag of shite, like Michael Jackson with his gang of kids when Jarvis Cocker mooned him.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | July 1, 2021 3:09 PM |
There are 3 children, one is behind the girl.
It's very 90's.
William and Harry are not really know for their taste, it shows.

I don’t recall her looking that tall looking?
by Anonymous | reply 66 | July 1, 2021 3:10 PM |

She was ppretty tall.

by Anonymous | reply 76 | July 1, 2021 3:18 PM |
Some chatting with other attendees. Harry is quickly losing his hair.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | July 1, 2021 3:19 PM |
Thank God it's over, and thank God it was an anodyne joint statement, low-key, brief, and offering little to no material to the media. Too bad about the bench, though.
Other than that, the statue is awful. I get the idea they were aiming for, but of all the clothing to depict her in, they could hardly have chosen worse.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | July 1, 2021 3:20 PM |
A video of the brothers greeting Diana's family members.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | July 1, 2021 3:21 PM |
I'm sure the tabloids will look at that photo and scream about olive branches and healing and all that shit.
I hope William stalked away the moment the cameras were out of view.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | July 1, 2021 3:22 PM |
Harry is aging horribly. He looks disheveled, even a bit paunchy, and that huge bald spot with the ginger frizz around it makes him look like a psychotic clown.
Diana's sisters, Ladies Jane and Sarah, have aged quite well, and it's clear that the two boys didn't get their baldness gene from the Spencers.
All nicely carried off, lots of politesse on display.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | July 1, 2021 3:26 PM |
It's short, professionnal not very intimate.
I bet no one is going to stay for the tea.
Thank God, it's over and everybody can move on.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | July 1, 2021 3:28 PM |
Jeez, is Harry drunk????? William looks sober and stateman like next to him.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | July 1, 2021 3:31 PM |
Oh no. Children? Eccchhh
by Anonymous | reply 85 | July 1, 2021 3:32 PM |
It's a disastuh!
The belt is the first thing your eye is drawn to.
The face isn't horrible, but the composition with the creepy generic children is awful.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | July 1, 2021 3:32 PM |
That sculptor had one job. ONE!
by Anonymous | reply 87 | July 1, 2021 3:34 PM |
Diana's face was quite manly but she was graceful.
Bronze doesn't work well for her face, a nice marble would have worked better.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | July 1, 2021 3:36 PM |
It is abundantly clear that William acknowledged Harry as little as possible, looked away from him as much as possible, and that Harry kept trying to approach William and engage him with very little success. I noted that William also preceded Harry into the garden, and preceded him as they left the statue, and spoke, I think to the gardeners, and that William was always to be introduced and shake hands and chat.
They have pulled this off with no outward show of active animosity, but in my view it's clear that there is no healing here, that William was going what he had to do, and that he still wants nothing to do with Harry.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | July 1, 2021 3:40 PM |
The children are silly and her dress is awful. So many stunning dresses to choose from. Sell it to Harrods.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | July 1, 2021 3:41 PM |
^*was always first to be introduced and shake hands and chat.
William was on his own territory now. Harry is a tolerated guest. He no long has a place here.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | July 1, 2021 3:41 PM |
Yea the blue isn't great and the outfit overdone. I see what they were going for but didn't quite make it
R82 psychotic clown LOL
by Anonymous | reply 92 | July 1, 2021 3:42 PM |
Her face is ok.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | July 1, 2021 3:46 PM |
It's far better than that awful Diana and Dodi statue that used to frighten customers in Harrods. Tacky, ugly, wrong.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | July 1, 2021 3:46 PM |
Watching the Independent video, most of the footage was of William talking to the other guests. Harry was not in the frame for a lot of it.
by Anonymous | reply 95 | July 1, 2021 3:47 PM |
I never thought William to be very charismatic, but he looks so much better than Harry.
He's the Family's Alpha now.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | July 1, 2021 3:49 PM |
The statue is pretty bad.
by Anonymous | reply 97 | July 1, 2021 3:50 PM |
The face could have been prettier and the belt is unnecessary.
WHET the death car? I heard someone was going to make it into a statue at one point. In very bad taste
by Anonymous | reply 98 | July 1, 2021 3:54 PM |
where did William and Harry get that baldness gene from? Harry better be getting plugs soon or his Friar Tuck look will disappear. Their Spencer uncle has a full head of hair. Their grandfather Spencer did too. Prince Philip still had some hair into old age and Prince Charles still has more hair than either of his sons.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | July 1, 2021 3:56 PM |
Who are those children? Just random children? Why not put William and Harry as the children. It will have way more historical significance that way.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | July 1, 2021 3:57 PM |
I guess if they put themselves in it may be seen as indulgent and distracting from Diana. Plus the random kids allude to her charity work and how maternal she was.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | July 1, 2021 4:01 PM |
it's St Diana of the Poor Children r100, bleurgh
by Anonymous | reply 102 | July 1, 2021 4:01 PM |
R79 why is Harry holding his gut in those pics? was it to show sympathy with bump-obsessive Meghan?
I bet Harry behaved because he's scared shitless of his Uncle Charlie.
by Anonymous | reply 103 | July 1, 2021 4:01 PM |
Uncle Charles was a piece of shit who exploited Diana's death for his own gain.
by Anonymous | reply 104 | July 1, 2021 4:03 PM |
R99 Philip went thin on top quite early and Edward is going the same way...not completely bald, but eligible for a comb over. So, Philip’s side is where the gene is, I’d guess.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | July 1, 2021 4:11 PM |
Harry and William aren't even 40 though and Philip and Edward both had full heads of hair at that age.

by Anonymous | reply 108 | July 1, 2021 4:17 PM |
R107 - If that’s the case, then Diana’s Dad was a baldy, I think.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | July 1, 2021 4:17 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 110 | July 1, 2021 4:22 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 111 | July 1, 2021 4:24 PM |
Harry looks disheveled, can't button his coat, and perhaps drunk. But he's still hawt. I'd do him, I always go for the bad boys.
He's a drunk English lout. Sexy!
by Anonymous | reply 112 | July 1, 2021 4:24 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 114 | July 1, 2021 4:28 PM |
I was preparing myself for something much worse after watching River's video compilation of Diana statues. I don't think it's bad at all. The belt, though...
by Anonymous | reply 115 | July 1, 2021 4:34 PM |
It is a bizarre mashup of when she worked in a Kindergarten before she was married and her after the divorce wearing a 90s power dress.
That belt is almost as cringe inducing as the children.
by Anonymous | reply 116 | July 1, 2021 4:34 PM |
William is definitely quite cold while Harry is being a bit ingratiating.
I don’t believe there will be any cosy chats at all.
by Anonymous | reply 117 | July 1, 2021 4:36 PM |
Yeah, Harry seemed off-kilter, like he was drunk or high. And brown shoes with that suit??
by Anonymous | reply 118 | July 1, 2021 4:40 PM |
Apparently Harry has already gone home. He was in and out, as fast as possible.
by Anonymous | reply 119 | July 1, 2021 4:42 PM |
I met Diana once in person. The status isn’t as bad as I’d feared but it’s not great.
Both Will and Harry need a lengthy face slapping then to go away for a long time.
by Anonymous | reply 120 | July 1, 2021 4:45 PM |
Bottom line: William looks more, and Harry less royal with every passing year.
by Anonymous | reply 121 | July 1, 2021 4:48 PM |
Those aren;t children--those are her dwarf minions she's sending forth to kill.
by Anonymous | reply 122 | July 1, 2021 4:48 PM |
Harry looks highly flatulent
by Anonymous | reply 123 | July 1, 2021 4:50 PM |
Why did he have to pick one of her worst fashion habits, the wide belt?! She had no waist to speak of and used to wear the wide belts to give herself one, but all it did was make her look thick - her great features were her gorgeous skin, eyes, and legs. All right, maybe you can't convey a complexion or blonde hair on a statue, but the eye is drawn totally to the belt and skirt here, not to her expressive eyes and beautiful legs.
It's like the Emanuel wedding dress déjà vu: one of the great missed Diana opportunities.
by Anonymous | reply 124 | July 1, 2021 4:53 PM |
R117 - You got that shit right. Coolness was coming off William like smoke off dry ice. It's going to be amusing watching the tabloids try to use that one image of them looking at each other to trumpet healing, olive branches, reconciliation . . . but anyone with half an eye who watches the whole video can see that that is bullshit.
by Anonymous | reply 125 | July 1, 2021 4:55 PM |

But what the fucking fuck are those kids about? And why is the third kid trailing behind, not being included in the party?
by Anonymous | reply 134 | July 1, 2021 5:29 PM |
The female symbolic every-child has the face of a woman; if you removed the two male symbolic every-children it could be rebranded as an erotic Pride statue: "Lesbian Love Comes in All Sizes".
by Anonymous | reply 135 | July 1, 2021 5:35 PM |
The statue close up - it doesn't look like her very much, does it? I don't care for it.
by Anonymous | reply 136 | July 1, 2021 5:36 PM |
Next to that stiff prig William, a stapler would look "flamboyant"
by Anonymous | reply 137 | July 1, 2021 5:36 PM |
I don't love it, either. The face is quite hard (bronze notwithstanding) and Diana was beautiful when she smiled.
The outfit is the one she wore on her first solo Christmas card photograph, with the boys. I agree... there were better choices but you can see how they could rationalise that in the design process.
I'd give it a 7 out of 10 because I'm being charitable. I'm glad it's done. She deserved to be remembered in a permanent way.
by Anonymous | reply 138 | July 1, 2021 5:39 PM |
It looks like something you would have seen at Neverland.
by Anonymous | reply 139 | July 1, 2021 5:39 PM |
They whittled down that ceremony as much as they could, didn't they? Twenty minutes from start to finish with a minimum of attendees. There wasn't even a dedication speech. No room for Harry to try to catch his brother in any real conversation, no way Harry could make publicity hay of this. Well done, Windsors.

It would have been more powerful if they'd recreated Diana holding the hand of the man who had AIDS - that was her big moment and it could have doubled up as an AIDS memorial.
& it reflects much more who she was, what she did and the era she lived in.

At one point Harry moves over toward William to say something and Auntie Sarah runs to William's side, presumably to eavesdrop and provide a witness to the conversation in case Harry tells more whoppers to Gayle King.

The sculptor also minimised her lovely big titties and covered her long, silky pins
by Anonymous | reply 150 | July 1, 2021 6:43 PM |
The statue of Diana thst used to be at Harrods emphasized her big titties. Practically the first thing you notice with her tunic draped around them in the breeze. I didn't know the base had VICTIMS inscribed on it.
Whatever became of it once Fayed sold Harrod's?

It's dreadful. She looks like an 80s lesbian female basketball coach. The random children with odd faces make it creepy.
Why so literal? Why not a more classical rendering capturing her charisma, something people could appreciate in 100 years.
by Anonymous | reply 154 | July 1, 2021 7:53 PM |
R154 I’ve always thought Diana had a classical face like a female Michelangelo's David. Surely they could’ve come up with something more timeless. And no children!

by Anonymous | reply 156 | July 1, 2021 8:06 PM |
When I picture a Diana statue, she’s standing in some kind of neutral dress or gown, beautifully draped. Her hands are clasped in front of her and her face shows that signature upward gaze and the hint of a mischievous little smile. Age wise she’s maybe late 80s, still an HRH. Simple.

If the belt had just been an inch higher it would not look so out of place, but I think it generally captures her facial likeness decently, which not many other sculptures of her have managed.

R160 Yes that’s a very nice pose, nice angle and I suppose looking down avoids looking too sappy.
When you Google Diana, this is the very first picture that comes up right now, in Wikipedia. Obviously the statue depicts her look in this era (not my favorite). It’s as if this was literally the first picture the sculptor seized upon.
by Anonymous | reply 162 | July 1, 2021 8:32 PM |
That picture of her walking into the Serpentine Gallery on the evening of Charles’ confession at being unfaithful should have been the inspiration. She looked amazing. The dress, the LEGS.

Dream on, r169. It's far worse than the papers are letting on. Harry left 20 minutes after the ceremony. Nobody wants to talk to him after the initial pleasantries. I get that bronze is a difficult medium to work with and perfect true-to-life features (such as facial expressions) were not to be expected. But this is a bit of a disappointment.
It's the body, imo. It isn't Diana at all, who was tall, leggy and willowy. This figure has stumpier, shorter legs. That hideous belt wouldn't be such a problem if it was cinched tighter and a good two inches higher on the waist, where it would have been in real life. It would have elongated the figure. Was Diana as busty as shown here? This makes her look matronly, which she was decidedly not.
Otherwise the sentiment is fine (Diana as charitable child protectoress). I like that she is standing up, facing forward, and not sitting. The figures of the children are incidental.

[quote]Did she wear flat heels?
When she was married, all the time. Not flat, but very low heels so as not to be taller than Charles. Because she's very tall her feet are very long, and so the low heels looked like flats and made her feet look even bigger.
Once she got divorced she hopped into stilettos, which flattered her legs and made her feet look much smaller.

I think this was the image that might have been used for the statue.
But in the photo, because she is standing behind the sofa with her black skirt/slacks, the huge buckle is not such a distraction as it is on the statue.
by Anonymous | reply 201 | July 2, 2021 6:24 AM |
I don't understand the choice of the huge decorative belt and fussy detailed blouse. Neither are associated with Diana or her fashion sense, and they lend an odd distracting look to the piece. I guess the sculptor wanted to add some texture to the figure somehow?

Unless the sculptor has a more serious problem with facial likenesses than is already indicated by his rendering of Diana's face, I'm reasonably certain the one in the front is not William.

It's slightly elevated from something at Neverland Ranch, but it is fine and the ordeal is over. Wills made it through. Very smart to not have a word spoken. They were taking no chances. It was set up so that there was always a buffer between Will and Harry. The video conveys the truth of that relationship, which is that Harry is frozen out. Harry has continued to gain weight since the Oprah interview. It looks like he doesn't have a valet to put his outfits together or make sure things fit. He looks unkempt. Maybe that lads luncheon turned into a night of hookers and blow.

The sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley is actually very good portraitist usually, though his metier is perhaps low relief, profile work (he's done a lot of coin and medal portraits, including the Queen). It would have been better to have a large portrait plaque of Diana, with a 3-D sculptural scene of something appropriate below.

William a stick in the mud?
Oh my sides!
He managed to behave with dignity and class and behave with controlled civility in a massively tense public appearance with the brother who betrayed their entire family. Especially William's wife.
Just 2 weeks ago Harry's mouthpiece Omid Scobie leaked another piece of attempted smearing with that "one of two future Heads of State" claim. One of those 2 future Heads of State is William. The ccx article was an attempt to blunt the bullying investigation that was mentioned liberally in one of Lacey's excerpts in the TIMES.
And someone expected William to be warm and fuzzy?
William was amazing. Without making a fuss, William's cool politeness told the world where Harry stands, as did the Spencers.
Harry's desperate attempts to persuade the world that he's back in the royal gold were pathetic and failed.
William looked like the Man of the Hour.
Harry looked like an organ grinder's monkey.
No meeting with the Queen, no meeting with his father, no traction with William.
The thing was a well deserved PR bust for Harry. William looked every inch the future King and the man in command of the situation.
Both families let the world know where Harry stands: OUT.

I’ve seen a few statues of 20th century figures that move me: FDR at his DC monument, with a coat fashioned like a cape and an oversized Fala at his side and Churchill looming outside of Parliament. Both made me tear up and I don’t weep at art.
The Diana statue is fine but not moving. It doesn’t capture why most of us loved her— we didn’t love Saint Diana— we loved nutty, madcap Diana who was deeply flawed but deeply loveable because, through it all, she was authentic and empathetic to the masses. Not sure how to capture that in a statue, but this misses the mark.
by Anonymous | reply 229 | July 2, 2021 12:51 PM |
Because there is no vulnerability or, alternately, kindness or humility. The face is stern. That is not Diana as we knew her or remember her. He should have gone with the face from the Christmas card... sort of wistful, staring into the future and past, wondering what might have been of a life half lived. Representations of the things that mattered to her, children, the ill, the elderly, the lonely could have been integrated into the base.
I still say you stare at it enough that nose starts summoning Prince Philip.

When did this project start? 2017? Then Meghan had a hand in its design, which might account for its blandness. I don’t think it’s awful but there’s nothing unique or emotionally resonate about it. Looks like exactly what it is—a statue created by a committee that destroyed any “art” by agreeing to something that no one loves or hates. A statue that stirs no emotion. Just like Meghan’s “acting” skills.
Not a hit. Not a true miss. Just a blah designed to be a centerpiece in millions of frau’s Instagram stories. Not exactly built for the ages.

That picture at R201 says everything about her relationship with her sons, doesn't it? She's staring lovingly but wistfully at William, the golden boy with the future on his shoulders. Harry is a little further away, looking hopefully at his mother but not the focus of her attention at all.

I think that is where his deep hatred of William originated, R232. The way he followed him and stared yesterday seemed deliberately provocative as did the joking about how to do the unveiling.

One wonders what Rachel Whiteread, the greatest living living British sculptor, would of made of the commission? Most of her work is about the voids, spaces under chairs, interiors of houses. Perhaps she could have done the interior of the Mercedes Benz from the night she died. It would be very controversial at first, but probably going on to be a great work in the history of art. I also would have liked it to be a very modern or contemporary piece as a big fuck you to Charles who’s all still embedded in more classical looking things especially architecture.

If you ever took a good look at Diana when she was alive it was obvious she was not a great beauty. She had a big nose and was quite mannish about the face. Makeup helped to soften the hardness of her face. I think the statue looks very much like her. I also think the color of the statue adds to the overly masculine look of the piece. I would have rather seen it done in white or pink marble.
by Anonymous | reply 240 | July 2, 2021 2:31 PM |
R240 Or we can get one of the world famous or Youtube makeup artist to add a little color and contour to her face? Perhaps seasonally? Harry reminds me of teenagers leaving home, thinking they're really adult now. "You're not the boss of me", and being as obnoxious as possible whenever they're around.
Of course, they still want to borrow money all the time, and move back in with mom & dad if they aren't doing so well conquering the world.
Harry, still in juvenile mode, no brakes from the BRF, acting out every chance he can get. How did he ever manage to behave in the old days, for TTC, Remembrance Day and all?

Elderly stupid DLers are so easy to troll cause they still don't know how trolling works.
Someone comes on and makes an obviously insane provocation, i.e. Megan is responsible for the ugly statue. Most sane, and even slightly intelligent people, would ignore that as trolling. But no, not on Datalounge. People respond and it derails the thread. Here's another trick, if no one responds the troll can go on another device and express outrage at his original statement and then reply to that. That gets the ball rolling on DL.

That Harrod's statue was hideous, propagating the lie that Dodi meant anything to Diana apart from a "fun" summer holiday.
Mohammed Al Fayed was obsessed with lying about Diana, like she was so tawdry she'd get pregnant a few weeks after meeting someone and that she would drop from being in love with an outstanding Heart Surgeon to his waster playboy son. Give me a break.
If we're honest, Dodi was showing Diana off like a trophy that summer. He demanded they go to The Ritz for dinner instead of staying in, as she wished. He loved the attention and playing the Big Man. He masterminded the stupid decoy outside the hotel, then told his drunk driver to lose the paparazzi by speeding up..

The lank hair, masculinised face, the sheer joylessness of the piece, combined with the truly ugly choice of clothing, is enough to make one weep for What Might Have Been, given that Rank-Broadley has shown he can create beauty.
The two greatest opportunities for iconic creation around how Diana looked were this statue and her wedding dress. And in both instances, the result was massive failure.
The Emanuels had some excuse: in the 1980s, fluffy, romantically over-embellished wedding gowns were IN. It doesn't totally excuse lack of some restraint on their part in carrying out the style, but it does offer some reason for the direction they chose.
For the statue, there's no such rationale. There's none of her radiance, none of her femininity, the blouse looks slovenly, the wide-belt look was one of her worst and quickly dated, no representation of her enormous eyes and magnetic smile . . . even when she was meeting with underprivileged children, she smiled at them for the most part. Only in a couple of photos that I remember when embracing a doomed child can I remember looking so sombre as she does here.
As stated at first in this post, though, what is really missing is the joy she spread; there is nothing to smile about with this statue. It's a shame.

by Anonymous | reply 328 | July 4, 2021 2:36 AM |
Diana's "dance" on stage showed her for what she was, the ultimate attention whore. It's no wonder he finds that quality in Meghan comforting and familiar.
By the time Diana made her "stage debut", she was already the most recognizable woman in the world. Even a sneeze from her would garner attention, but she wanted all eyes on her at a public performance where she was supposed to be a spectator and not a participant. Very un-royal and pathetic. Even Grace Kelly knew she could not return to performing once she became a princess.
Diana would claim that she did it as a surprise for her husband. Many people were stupid enough to believe it. It was a totally self-serving action. Royals do not like public surprises, let alone one from a wife whose dramatics were already wearing him down. She knew he would not like it, but that her public would.

I thought he was anxious and needing to calm himself on his way TO London, understandably given his recent behavior, awful reviews, and his disastrous appearance at his grandfather’s funeral?
But on the way home? Why would he need to reassure himself about his reception in Montecito yesterday?
by Anonymous | reply 340 | July 4, 2021 10:55 AM |
R339 It's becoming ever clearer that the twin engines of HMS Harry Windsor are his hatred of his brother and his fixation on the lost Mum who, in reality, favored that brother.
He can't hate beautiful dead Diana, out of reach in life because William was always in the way, and then snatched away by death. So William is the funnel for all Harry's inchoate rage.
I would venture to guess that Harry doesn't love Meghan nearly as much as he hates his brother.
In "Brideshead Revisited", the self-exiled Lord Marchmain's Italian mistress tell Charles Ryder that Lord Marchmain does not love her, "not one little bit", but that she serves, instead, as a barrier/weapon against the hated wife he left.
I think we're looking at something like that with the Sussexes.

I think he hates his entire family, look at the way he has treated his elderly grandparents. Streaking at his father's birthday party was also an extremely hostile act. Spaths really like to take control and ruin happy occasions and holidays, the humiliation of his father and brother was an added bonus. Harry and his wife are extremely disturbed people. Harry was off and a rager well before his parents split and before his mother's death.

Miki is very cute but she knows she's crazy. She side eye her and refuse to be part of her videos.
by Anonymous | reply 383 | July 6, 2021 8:42 AM |
Is she truly batshit crazy or does she play up British eccentricity as part of her brand?
by Anonymous | reply 384 | July 6, 2021 8:49 AM |
Nah, she's crazy. Doesn't mean she's wrong tho. She had meghan's number from Day 1.
by Anonymous | reply 385 | July 6, 2021 8:57 AM |
Lady C definitely knows that people have noticed her unusual laugh. Recently her videos have begun with her just laughing at nothing.
by Anonymous | reply 386 | July 6, 2021 9:06 AM |
[quote] she has some nice scoops
Like what, exactly? What has she said in her videos that a) we didn’t know before and b) turned out to be true?
Nothing. She reads forums like this and Tumblr, then presents the info as “I’ve heard”.
Ridiculous.

Meghan acting bereaved over the uncle she ghosted the moment after he got her that internship in Argentina (by pulling stings after she flunked the exam), is unbelievably foolish on her part.
Because the next question on everyone's lips will be, So why weren't he and his wife invited to your wedding, along with half a dozen celebrities you never met?
by Anonymous | reply 388 | July 6, 2021 12:09 PM |
^*strings (not stings)
by Anonymous | reply 389 | July 6, 2021 12:10 PM |
R386 isn't she laughing about the tunes played at the very beginning of the videos? The songs usually have got something to do with one of the topics discussed in the video.
by Anonymous | reply 390 | July 6, 2021 12:24 PM |
R388, she thinks people have already forgotten about the wedding guests and her relatives not having been invited.
by Anonymous | reply 391 | July 6, 2021 12:33 PM |
R387, are you aware of her many books written on the BRF? It's not like someone in NJ sitting in his mother's basement. She moves in certain circles, as do her children, and hears things, undoubtedly. I think she was likely FED the Anne story. Every side needs a mouthpiece at times.
by Anonymous | reply 392 | July 6, 2021 2:12 PM |
Yes, R392....but I am specifically talking about her videos about Meghan & Harry. Past glories are irrelevant.
Tell me one thing...just one...that she shared that a) we didn’t know before and b) subsequently turned out to be true.
Just one.
In her last video she talked about Harry dissing some kid at the Well Child event...with exactly the same information that had appeared in a Tumblr post 4 days earlier. She’s done this before.
People with real contacts don’t go to fucking Tumblr. Obviously.
She’s full of shit, but probably earning a few quid on Youtube because irrational idiots are willing to believe whatever sha says.
by Anonymous | reply 394 | July 6, 2021 2:24 PM |
I imagine she gets info from a lot of sources, including those she used for a BOOK on Megan and Harry, published, what, 2 years ago? Hardly in the past.
If you do not like, do not watch, simple as that.
by Anonymous | reply 395 | July 6, 2021 2:29 PM |
She pimped the Queen Mother as the cook's daughter story... there is no way the RF would touch her with a ten foot pole, or wink and nod at any friends to do the same. If they want something out there, it's the newspapers not this entertaining if increasingly longwinded lady.
by Anonymous | reply 396 | July 6, 2021 2:58 PM |
Not sure why you are so emotionally triggered by her that you need to keep posting, just don't listen, R396. Simple as that.
by Anonymous | reply 397 | July 6, 2021 3:10 PM |
No one says the BRF gives her informations, just that she may hear some gossips.
Those people have nothing to do but gossip all day long.
Even if I think she reads tumblr a lot she can have some real juice from time to time. And she doesn't buy the conspiracy theory so I give her some credit.
by Anonymous | reply 398 | July 6, 2021 3:18 PM |
^ She regularly mentions "royal circles" which, to Americans, may be synonymous with British royal circles - whereas the reality is probably closer to minor European royalty whose ancestors were deposed 100 years ago.

Maybe find another hobby besides fixation on vids you claim to loathe, R399. With things opening back up, great time to expand your entertainment horizons.
by Anonymous | reply 400 | July 6, 2021 4:12 PM |
Oh grow up. Anyone can talk about whatever they like on here.
And there’s two of us objecting to Lady Codwallop on this thread, brainaics, not one.
It is duly noted that none of you can actually demonstrate a single “scoop” from her...so I rest my case 🤷♂️
by Anonymous | reply 401 | July 6, 2021 4:37 PM |
^ That was my first contribution to the Lady C part of the discussion, R400. Personally, I'm an inveterate fan of her videos but I don't put any stock in them.
by Anonymous | reply 402 | July 6, 2021 4:38 PM |
R401, start a new thread, going on and on is just boring. If there are 2 of you making similar posts, even more reason to take it elsewhere. If you have made your point why bang on the same point over and over and over again? If you are so full of ire, why watch? Why post? Summer is a beautiful season to get outdoors.
by Anonymous | reply 403 | July 6, 2021 5:07 PM |
The Narkles have gotten so boring, one trick ponies.
by Anonymous | reply 404 | July 6, 2021 5:10 PM |
Think that is the common sentiment, R402, can't put too much stock in any of this, it is entertainment and gossip.
These threads are getting really boring with lots of repetitive posts, DL usually does better.

Meghan wailing about her uncle on social media reminds me of Nicole Kidman's character in To Die For attending her husband's funeral with a boombox and playing "All By Myself" as he's lowered into the ground. No real emotion at all, just a gauche, empty grasp at attention.
In fact, aside from the murderous tendencies, Meghan reminds me a LOT of Suzanne Stone. Superficial sexiness, superficial emotions, seething ambition, empty intellect.
by Anonymous | reply 406 | July 6, 2021 5:12 PM |
Narcs love a funeral, R406, all that emotion, all that grandiosity, all that grasping for attention, they are in their element. Uncle Mike was just a thing to exploit for opportunities and now for attention. She is just awful. The film sounds fun.
by Anonymous | reply 407 | July 6, 2021 5:17 PM |
To Die For is a fantastic portrait of a stone narcissist, R407. I highly recommend it.

The daughter of the cook story really was absurd and I don't know why she ran with it. The story supposedly began with the Duke of Windsor who hated his sister-in-law after the Abdication. He and Wallis referred to the Queen Mother as "Cookie" as she resembled a "fat Scottish cook", later suggesting she was in fact the daughter of a "fat Scottish cook".
Lady C. has encountered several members of the Royal Family at events, and they tolerate her, but are definitely not friends. They sure as hell wouldn't share any family news with her. She IS good friends however, with several Romanovs, members of the Serbian (Yugoslavian) Royals, and with a couple of the Romanian princesses.
by Anonymous | reply 409 | July 6, 2021 5:30 PM |
Nicole was brilliant in To Die For, if 1995 wasn't such a competitive year she would have got an Oscar nom. If she'd been nominated in 94 she deserved a win.

You know exactly why. $$$$. She writes books to sell, not to dust.

[quote]Narcs love a funeral
Maybe not. Someone else is always the real centre of attention.
In the wise words of DL icon Alice Roosevelt: "My father wanted to be the baby at every baptism, the bride at every wedding and the corpse at every funeral."
by Anonymous | reply 413 | July 7, 2021 5:30 AM |
I don't think so, R390. It sounds to me like the songs are added during the editing process (such as it is).
by Anonymous | reply 414 | July 7, 2021 8:13 AM |
Has anyone seen this pic before - is it really her?
by Anonymous | reply 415 | July 8, 2021 4:20 AM |
R415 - yes, that's Diana in her silly days of youth.
