MSNBC - Part 26

Haul their asses back to the studio!

No one should be working from home any more.

I'm a big MSNBC fan. However, Joshua Johnson and Alicia Menedez on the weekend are the only two anchors who have totally turned me off. They are big snooze fests, lackluster and unappealing, and I can no longer watch them. When they're on, I now switch to Jim Acosta, the new midday anchor on CNN.

by Anonymousreply 5June 28, 2021 8:37 PM

these 2 pics are from a couple years ago when he just joined MSNBC

he looks bigger now actually

I have a feeling that Jason Johnson posts here.

by Anonymousreply 9June 29, 2021 2:57 AM

[quote] I have a feeling that Jason Johnson posts here.

Probably a better chance that Joshua does. Jason wouldn't appreciate most of what is said here about him.

If Joshua's here, I'd say hey why not break out the septum piercing for next weekend's show.

by Anonymousreply 10June 29, 2021 10:24 AM

Was Joe on fire this morning?

Oh by the way if anyone is wondering, the reason this part 26 was started, is because part 25 has already been paywalled.

:o(

by Anonymousreply 11June 29, 2021 4:05 PM

Was Vaughn bouncing this morning?

Andrea Mitchell is on fire!

(said no one ever)

by Anonymousreply 14June 29, 2021 10:00 PM

I hate that the racist-to-Asians troll posts so often on this thread as well. It throws off my notifications of a new posting on the thread and won't go away until someone else posts. Ready for him to be kicked off the site for his hateful posts on the Top Chef thread.

by Anonymousreply 20July 1, 2021 4:29 AM

Done, R13.

by Anonymousreply 21July 1, 2021 5:23 AM

Please stop with the Josh shirtless pics. He’s NOT attractive!

by Anonymousreply 22July 1, 2021 5:26 AM

R22, that's the understatement of the year. He's downright ugly.

by Anonymousreply 23July 1, 2021 5:31 AM

[quote]Joshua is a swole ass man.

[quote]Too bad he's such a Negative Nancy.

Have you watched Chris Hayes? Neither Joshua nor Jason could ever get close to the Giant Gas Planet Negativity that is Chris Hayes.

Negative, condescending, AND hysterical ninny. I find him both unwatchable and unlistenable. Plus his show theme sounds like the inside of a giant ant colony riven by anteater claw.

by Anonymousreply 25July 1, 2021 5:57 AM

Remember when Chris Hayes used to have that awful live audience show once a week? Thank god COVID did away with that turd.

by Anonymousreply 26July 1, 2021 12:15 PM

I thought Chris Hayes was actually better with a live audience. They calmed him down a bit.

by Anonymousreply 27July 1, 2021 2:13 PM

Stephanie Ruhl is adorable.

That is all.

by Anonymousreply 28July 1, 2021 2:14 PM

by Anonymousreply 30July 1, 2021 4:20 PM

Who is this Morgan Chesty hunk? Blonde hunk.

by Anonymousreply 31July 1, 2021 5:07 PM

can't wait to see Lawrence's excited reaction to the Trump Org charges tonight lol he's the pettiest news host in mainstream media and except for his diva ways/celebriphile nature, I love watching

by Anonymousreply 32July 1, 2021 6:00 PM

Morgan "Chesty" Chesky is an MSNBC roving reporter covering daily national disasters and thus often dressed in layers of protective and waterproof clothing. I LOVED watching him this morning in his fitted dress shirt, 3 buttons opened, tits barely contained. And those dimples....!

Why DL has a Vaughn Hillyard troll and not a Morgan troll is a mystery to me.

by Anonymousreply 33July 1, 2021 8:59 PM

Good Lord, all of Nicolle's guests are either muted or they're talking over each other. Always a shitshow.

by Anonymousreply 34July 1, 2021 9:23 PM

Ari Melber is on Nicolle's show quoting JAY-Z, he just can't help himself.

by Anonymousreply 35July 1, 2021 9:26 PM

R33 I agree - he looked great in that blue shirt. Read up on him, he had COVID last year and seems to have a partner, male partner.

by Anonymousreply 36July 1, 2021 9:55 PM

R33 Morgan has been reviewed several times, with mixed responses. someone usually rehashes the "chicken legs" nit and pic.

by Anonymousreply 37July 1, 2021 11:14 PM

Morgan Chesky is "meh", while Vaughn is a cute bouncing little twink.

by Anonymousreply 38July 1, 2021 11:34 PM

Morgan got COVID covering that Trump cult meeting where Herman Cain ended up catching it and dying.

by Anonymousreply 39July 1, 2021 11:42 PM

R22 and R23 we're talking about a nice body. Some of you obsess over average bodied MSNBC hosts and commentators. Josh actually has a hot body.

by Anonymousreply 40July 1, 2021 11:58 PM

This is Joy's worst wig of the week so far.

by Anonymousreply 41July 2, 2021 12:01 AM

Oh No!! The HAIR is back!

by Anonymousreply 42July 2, 2021 12:04 AM

Joy's got a wig on!

by Anonymousreply 43July 2, 2021 12:22 AM

let me guess it's the racists who are obsessed with Joy's daily hairstyles

by Anonymousreply 44July 2, 2021 12:34 AM

I think Joy looks gorgeous with her new hair and at least 10 years younger. Her makeup and clothes are so good, I wonder if she has a new stylist?

by Anonymousreply 45July 2, 2021 1:12 AM

[quote] Read up on him, he had COVID last year and seems to have a partner, male partner.

I don't think so.

by Anonymousreply 47July 2, 2021 1:25 AM

I follow Morgan Chesky on Insta and there, at least, he appears unrepentantly straight. Same with Garrett Haake.

by Anonymousreply 48July 2, 2021 1:28 AM

Joy’s hair looks much better than the braided turban she had on earlier in the week. Much better than the curly mop she’s had on for the last year.

by Anonymousreply 49July 2, 2021 2:21 AM

Rachel got a haircut!

by Anonymousreply 50July 2, 2021 2:23 AM

Lawrence & Brian will be on fire 🔥 tonight.

by Anonymousreply 51July 2, 2021 2:31 AM

Rachel went back to the shorter gamine cut, and I liked Joy's curly mop.

The cascading braids are nice, but is it The Reid Out or Solid Gold?

by Anonymousreply 52July 2, 2021 2:36 AM

[quote] Lawrence & Brian will be on fire 🔥 tonight.

What's the topic tonight?

It's kind of a slow news day.

by Anonymousreply 53July 2, 2021 2:37 AM

Tonight’s edition looked like something ‘90s Brandy would have worn during the Moesha era.

Jonathan Lemire is filling in for Kasie Hunt on "Way Too Early" this morning. Has he ever anchored before?

by Anonymousreply 55July 2, 2021 10:55 AM

R55 He subbed for Kasie 2 mornings out of her vacation week. Did reasonably well, struggled with the prompter a bit. One morning he looked really fried, then moved on to the panel at Morning Joe, DL'ers dumped on him for having a bad hair day. Kudos to him, I couldn't handle the job, even if I were qualified.

by Anonymousreply 56July 2, 2021 11:12 AM

He has trouble reading.

by Anonymousreply 57July 2, 2021 11:15 AM

by Anonymousreply 59July 2, 2021 1:59 PM

[quote]Or Jonathan Thwann.

by Anonymousreply 60July 2, 2021 2:20 PM

Andrea sounding again as if she has imbibed this morning. She can't get through a sentence without screwing up. That woman needs to know there is a time to let it go and make room for younger folks. I speak from experience since I recently retired and thought, let those younger than me have at it and earn the t-shirts. No regrets so far.

by Anonymousreply 61July 2, 2021 5:14 PM

R61 Andrea's fine. Who cares about these tiny verbal hiccups, honestly? She handles herself perfectly, has great knowledge and experience. That's worth more than some 35-year-old's perfectly oiled machinery.

by Anonymousreply 62July 2, 2021 7:09 PM

R62 = Alan Greenspan

by Anonymousreply 63July 2, 2021 7:12 PM

R63 Meaning what?

by Anonymousreply 64July 2, 2021 7:22 PM

Andrea had a fantastic career. It is past time to hang it up. Too many broadcasters stay too long at the fair.

by Anonymousreply 65July 2, 2021 7:23 PM

[quote] [R63] Meaning what?

Meaning R62 is clearly Alan Greenspan, complimenting his young wife on her fine anchoring skills.

by Anonymousreply 66July 2, 2021 9:12 PM

R66 Oh. Well, no--[R62] is me.

by Anonymousreply 67July 2, 2021 9:15 PM

I love Nicolle but think she really needs to re-consider her makeup. All that non-color on her face is washing her out, even more with her summer tan.

by Anonymousreply 68July 2, 2021 10:15 PM

Rachel wears a wig?

by Anonymousreply 69July 3, 2021 10:35 AM

by Anonymousreply 70July 3, 2021 5:28 PM

The only wig wearer on MSNBC is Joy.

by Anonymousreply 71July 3, 2021 6:36 PM

No, I heard her "throwaway comment" about her wearing a wig (in the handoff to Lawrence) and I totally believed her. If you look closely her hair is sort of wiggish. If it's that or dying the gray, she made the right choice.

by Anonymousreply 72July 3, 2021 6:47 PM

[QUOTE] R63] Meaning what?

Are you new here, R64?

by Anonymousreply 73July 3, 2021 8:14 PM

R72 What did she say to Lawrence? When was this?

by Anonymousreply 74July 3, 2021 9:21 PM

Who cares if Rachel wears a wig???? It's not earth shattering news. The woman can do what she wants.

by Anonymousreply 75July 4, 2021 4:08 AM

I want to see her mirkin...

by Anonymousreply 76July 4, 2021 6:28 AM

R75 DL cares! Observations on minor points of appearance open the door so that a great big crowd of cattiness can rush in and party!

by Anonymousreply 77July 4, 2021 5:19 PM

If she does wear a wig, it's not apparent and that's how a good one should be. The Joy Reid nightly extravaganza would be OK if it were meant in fun, but completely out of place on a newscaster who apparently wants to be taken seriously.

by Anonymousreply 78July 4, 2021 5:25 PM

I think Rachel wearing some of Joy's wigs would be a hoot!

by Anonymousreply 79July 4, 2021 5:34 PM

R78 It's hilarious how the hair choices of black women get some people so worked up.

by Anonymousreply 80July 4, 2021 5:41 PM

[quote][R78] It's hilarious how the hair choices of black women get some people so worked up.

Joy intentionally makes herself look stupid and look like a non-serious journalist. So she shouldn’t be surprised when people comment on how stupid she looks and how non-serious her show and commentary are to be taken.

by Anonymousreply 81July 4, 2021 6:30 PM

R81 "Joy intentionally makes herself look stupid."

Really? How on earth would you know that? Are you her confidant? Did she confide to you this desire she has to look stupid? It would be a very rare thing to intend and even rarer to confess to.

Joy Reid/The Reidout was on at 6pm EST today, which is Ari Melber's slot. Anybody know what's up?

by Anonymousreply 88July 5, 2021 11:22 PM

Today July 5th is a federal holiday because July 4th was on a Sunday. Expect 2 hour or irregular programming to accommodate some people having the day.

by Anonymousreply 89July 5, 2021 11:38 PM

Is Joy pulling a double slot like Ari did last week?

Velshi also did a double slot for Chris and Rachel last week.

by Anonymousreply 90July 5, 2021 11:47 PM

And they are doing an immediate rerun of Joy's double hour.

Holiday programming.

Mika said Coonies instead of Goonies when reading the teleprompter about Richard Donner.

by Anonymousreply 94July 6, 2021 11:36 AM

Joe once again talking about his educated friends who believe the "Big Lie". Just because someone has an advanced degree does not preclude that person from being an idiot. I wish he would shut up on his family and friends. I can't imagine Mika putting up with a bunch of bubbas.

by Anonymousreply 95July 6, 2021 3:02 PM

You have to remember Joe graduated from the University of Alabama, to Joe an educated friend is anyone who went beyond high school.

by Anonymousreply 109July 7, 2021 12:02 AM

The things I would do to Dr. Vin Gupta ...

by Anonymousreply 110July 7, 2021 12:47 AM

On Joy's show right now: Nikole Hannah-Jones suffered a massive indignity and insult by having her tenure bid stalled by UNC and she was right to choose Howard instead. Is there any reason, however, for Ta-Nehesi Coates to call this this incident an act of theft akin to that of using slaves to build a public institution? That's crazy. She ultimately turned the position down and she was right to do so. But that isn't theft akin to slavery.

Hannah-Jones was also on talking about choosing Notre Dame as an undergrad institution over a historically Black school and what a miserable experience it was. I don't doubt it. I would have hated going there myself. It's not known as a liberal school and the University of Michigan or Chicago could have provided an equally prestigious education minus at least some of the frat boy racism. She made a bad choice. She should have transferred. If it was a matter of a scholarship covering tuition, another school would have matched it.

I value these people's work but not their hyperbole. Good luck to both at Howard. Joy's hair is back to being ridiculous again--first, with bad straight wigs and now with awful coiled braids in shades of brown and blonde. Get a mirror.

by Anonymousreply 111July 7, 2021 12:57 AM

[quote] I wish he would shut up on his family and friends.

At this point it's evident Scarborough can't talk about anything without making it about himself or his experience in some way. Even if he frequently prefaces statements with "I don't want to personalize this too much...". Impossible. He's just incapable.

Rachel's hair looked great tonight.

by Anonymousreply 113July 7, 2021 4:54 AM

R28: Many words come to mind when describing Stephanie Ruhle, "adorable" landing at the bottom of the list. How so many fail to see her ugly, mean-spirited racist attitude is beyond me.

I am so glad to see Chris Jansing subbing for Ruhle this morning, saving me the effort of switching to CNN.

by Anonymousreply 116July 7, 2021 2:21 PM

It's amazing how often Ruhle smiles inappropriately. In the middle of some terrible story on--I don't know--natural disaster, shootings, war, here comes the ear-to-ear grin. You'd think the MSNBC top brass would put a stop to it.

by Anonymousreply 117July 7, 2021 4:03 PM

by Anonymousreply 122July 7, 2021 9:00 PM

God, I'm tired of Mika's "Know Your Value" and "Forbes 50 > 50" bullshit. It's such slick glossy magazine sidebar corporate crap. Find a new project/cause, Mika.

by Anonymousreply 124July 7, 2021 11:58 PM

Joy's hair today! It looks like she went through a car wash and forgot to put the top up!!

by Anonymousreply 125July 8, 2021 1:00 AM

Rofl R125!!!!

You're terrible.

by Anonymousreply 126July 8, 2021 1:01 AM

The odd thing about Joy Reid's hair is that she doesn't look that way by accident, as R125 jokes, she does it on purpose! Unless someone gives her all these absurd wigs as gifts and she feels obliged to wear them to avoid hurting feelings, she must actually shop for and select and pay for the damn things.

by Anonymousreply 127July 8, 2021 1:17 AM

She should find a nice hair-do, and fucking stick with it.

Joy's trying to be like the Real Housewives, acting all edgy and shit.

Just go with a nice, boring newscaster hair do.

This one is nice and professional.

I've criticized people for harping on Joy's hair-don'ts, but tonight was too much. The brown and yellow rope braids petered out at the ends like rats' tails. Jesus! And how can you consider yourself a feminist when you're paying that much attention to your hair? Decide on a look and stick with it.

by Anonymousreply 135July 8, 2021 3:52 AM

I read a Forbes piece in which she was quoted as saying the African-inspired hairdos allow her to be her authentic self. Nothing more authentic than sitting in a chair for three hours while a technician coils 10 feet of braided Indian hair around your head.

by Anonymousreply 136July 8, 2021 11:10 AM

I think that the pandemic showed that there is actually zero reason for anyone to be in a studio. They should all just be remote with green screens behind them. There is no value in being in the same physical space.

by Anonymousreply 140July 8, 2021 2:48 PM

Except that MSNBC seems unable to maintain good connections with remote locations, so the sound is often garbled and/or the pictures frozen, etc. Why this should be so difficult after more than a year is a mystery to me, and apparently also beyond the capabilities of MSNBC.

What is the deal with that ONE day where she and her guests were back in the studio? It literally lasted a day and then she was back to the basement.

[QUOTE] Richard Engel is always such a drama queen.

He has a speech impediment where he can’t pronounce “R’s” or something. Not to be a petty bitch, but I always find it very distracting. He’s also dour.

[QUOTE] Eddie Glaude Jr. can be a bit much at times.

I’m sure he’s a brilliant man and a compelling professor at Princeton at times, but all he contributes to Deadline White House are the same canned sound bytes over and over again. “Soul of America” / “black folk” / “legacy of opression” -he will say two out of three every single time he appears on the show. Bingo card it if you don’t believe me. He needs to pull down some of those very good books that are always featured behind him and try to find some new phrases. I see a lot of Toni Morrison on his bookshelf. Crack one of those open and crib something from her, an incredible (and non-repetitive) African-American icon.

[quote]Eddie Glaude Jr. can be a bit much at times.

I know it may seem silly because he's clearly a person on the liberal side of the aisle but every time I see Eddie Glaude, Jr., I just have a hard time forgetting when he said back in 2016, when asked about Hillary vs. Donald, that there was basically no difference between them and that he could "never" bring himself to vote for Hillary Clinton. Now, of course, he fashions himself as part of "The Resistance" but all I can think is, "Yeah, but had it not been for people like you who refused to open your fucking eyes and see it was a race between the imperfect (Hillary) and downright evil (Trump), there might not be anything to resist, but whatever."

by Anonymousreply 148July 8, 2021 9:31 PM

That fucking cunt Nicolle Wallace just laughed her way through the opening segment regarding the dire condition of the voting crisis.

There's not a damned thing funny, you stupid two-faced bitch!

by Anonymousreply 149July 8, 2021 9:42 PM

When she was on "The View", people on message boards always commented on her "cackle" because she laughed too loudly and too often and at such inappropriate times. It usually seems like nervous laughter to me, but maybe I'm being too lenient. There is nothing funny about the voting suppression laws and Congress' inability to combat those -- I really doubt that she disagrees with me about that, but I also really wish she'd learn how to stifle the cackle.

by Anonymousreply 150July 8, 2021 9:54 PM

R148 That's true of most of the Morning Joe crowd. In my view, no one was more responsible for getting Trump elected than Joe Scarborough; he absolutely lavished attention on Trump during the Republican primary, particularly in the early stages. I don't know if he ever came out publicly with a mea culpa, but I'm convinced that he realized his own responsibility for the disaster and so devoted himself to nonstop Trump criticism. Having said that, and regarding Eddie Glaude, I find it nearly impossible to figure out how Black people should regard the Democratic Party. Clintonism meant the deliverance of the Democratic Party to neoliberalism and Wall Street, which in turn did great damage (to put it mildly) to working people and, of course, to Black people. But then, given the completely open hostility of the Republican Party to Black people these days, how can they not support Democrats?

by Anonymousreply 151July 9, 2021 12:14 AM

[quote] he realized his own responsibility for the disaster and so devoted himself to nonstop Trump criticism

I think that's true of nearly all the Republican (or ex-Republican) "never Trumpers." They were the ones who helped make the Republican Party into what it is today, pandered to the far-right fringe, and created the environment in which someone like Trump was able to run for president and win. And they knew exactly what they were doing. But they overestimated their ability to control the Republican base. They naively thought that once Trump (or someone like him) was in office, they would be able to convince him and his supporters to tone down the craziness instead of turning it up to full blast.

What a nice story on Rachel Maddow's show just now -- about America having taken refugees from VietNam and Iraq to Guam after American troops withdrew from the refugees' countries. And now the same will be done for Afghans who helped U.S. troops there as translators. The Gov. of Guam (who's encouraged Biden to do that) appeared and spoke about how much Guam wants to help people in this position. I haven't seen a positive report on this show in a long time and it's nice to hear about something more or less happy for a change.

by Anonymousreply 167July 9, 2021 7:19 PM

Morning Joe was always watched by le tout D.C. Joe was constantly telling Republican officials that they needed to recognize Trump as a threat; they poo-pooed in reply, which made Joe mad and caused him to amplify Trump further. It got away from him. Trump started to be seen as a plausible Republican candidate.

R163, Hunt may have friends and/or relatives whom she trusts to take care of the baby while she's at work. Otherwise, she must have somehow managed to figure out how to hire help who's vaccinated to do that -- such as, use an agency that provides qualified, bonded, insured, vaccinated nannies. MSNBC needs a tune-up. More compelling people on weekends, new guests, broader topics, more reporting that doesn't involve interviewing Trumpers in diners. The station needs to realize that it has to present answers to problems beyond "write your congressmen." I think many of us are disengaged after fighting so hard for an election that brought us the right to tread water, not make change. I watch Rachel and Chris Hayes, maybe Jonathan if I'm around, and that's about all I can take.

by Anonymousreply 183July 10, 2021 11:17 AM

[quote] MSNBC needs a tune-up

Agreed. Especially before the 2022 mid-term elections.

We MUST hold on to the Senate, so that President Biden can keep on moving this country forward.

Democrats always get complacent after a Democratic President gets elected. However, seeing what happened with Trump, we CANNOT let that happen.

MSNBC needs to keep the base fired up!

[quote] Last night she put Biden ON NOTICE.

If that's true, then Rachel needs to shut the fuck up.

Joe Biden has only been President for six months.

He has accomplished a great deal, and he's only getting started.

Give the guy a fucking chance to get his footing, before trying to tear him down!!!!

by Anonymousreply 184July 10, 2021 2:01 PM

Many of the hosts on MSNBC are acting like assholes in criticizing Biden. I wish they would stop blasting him about the filibuster. He does not have enough votes in the Senate to end it. What do they think he can do? For Biden to be able to succeed, the Democrats have tp have at least 52 senators to overcome Manchiin and that idiot from Arizona.

by Anonymousreply 185July 10, 2021 3:55 PM

R184 - There isn't the luxury of time re what Rachel (and Richard Engel) addressed - namely, helping the Afghans, who were translaters for U.S. troops, get out of the country before they are round up by the Taliban.

In fact Guam's governor appeared on the previous night's show and spoke about how much they want to help those Afghans relocate in the same way Guam assisted South Vietnamese and Iraqis in similar situations in the past.

This isn't a matter of "give Biden a chance."

Time is running out for these Afghans who were expecting the Americans to be there for them the way they were for the Americans.

by Anonymousreply 186July 10, 2021 4:16 PM

I think it's also important for the MSNBC hosts -- and rightly so -- to demonstrate that although this is the network that appeals to Democrats/liberals, they're not going to shy away from criticizing Biden and the Democrats when warranted (unlike what Fox did where it came to Trump and the Rethugs).

by Anonymousreply 187July 10, 2021 4:56 PM

Personally, with Biden's 50 years of experience, I think he has Manchin and Sinema in his pocket. It is all about timing. Biden is angling for a big Democratic win in 22 but a year and a half out would give Republicans too much bitching time. Patience, my pretties, patience.

R219, if you think Jason Johnson is so great, can you explain why? Nothing to do with his race, I assume?

by Anonymousreply 220July 13, 2021 11:53 PM

R220 Was just watching Jason Johnson interviewing Michael Wolff. Perfectly pleasant, well informed, actually seemed to have read Wolff's books. by Anonymousreply 221July 13, 2021 11:56 PM

R220: I stopped watching him awhile back because he was so loud and hostile. Maybe he's changed for the better -- though I do catch glimpses every now and then if I'm not fast enough to change the channel and he's always seemed the same. He reminds me of a male Joy Reid.

R219: I'm biracial myself and have always lived comfortably in racially diverse environments, so I'm not inclined to judge people based on their race. There are plenty of real reasons to dislike Johnson.

by Anonymousreply 222July 14, 2021 12:05 AM

by Anonymousreply 224July 14, 2021 12:25 AM

R224 It's entirely possible that I'm wrong, and if I am I apologize. But you must realize that there are actual racist trolls on DL, and when a poster is constantly harping on how awful the black hosts on MSNBC are, he might take into account that others might think he's one of the trolls.

You could hear her rolling her eyes, while pretending like it was a great question. She’s probably used to dealing with stupid patients all day long.

[quote] And why is Al Sharpton broadcasting from a dark room?

It looked to me like he was inside a car. But it was hard to tell. Yes, it was odd.

by Anonymousreply 228July 14, 2021 4:45 AM

R225: Thanks for your apology, though you may have me confused with someone else because I don't think I'm "constantly harping on how awful the black hosts on MSNBC are". The fact is, Jason Johnson appears very often (either as a guest or a substitute host) and Joy Reid has her own show every weekday, so there is frequent occasion to comment on their performances. But I stopped watching them once I realized that they weren't improving, so the most I usually do is agree with someone else's criticism of them.

And I wish it could go without saying that my dislike of those two loudmouths has nothing to do with their race, but apparently it can't be assumed that an anchor's race is irrelevant. The only other full-time black hosts I'm aware of are Joshua Johnson and Jonathan Capehart, both of whom are on at times when I'm not usually watching TV, but I've liked them fine whenever I've seen them. There are several black guests who appear frequently on shows that I watch most days and none of them offends me (I can't list their names, since my memory doesn't work), because they're articulate and knowledgeable and have something useful to say (without yelling). By the same token, there are white anchors that I dislike -- Chris Hayes is loud and hyper, Chuck Todd is pompous and superficial, Joe Scarborough is a jerk and his wife is stupid -- but I don't consider them lousy at their jobs because of their race.

And by the way, I'm not a Republican.

Why hasn't Fox made Jake Sherman an offer yet? I can't stand that sniveling little turd.

by Anonymousreply 247July 15, 2021 4:17 PM

R245 Hold on to your wallets, Comcast customers! They'll give you a package that has Peacock for free. It will have a time limit, which you'll forget all about, then one day you'll get a monthly bill for $1,985.

by Anonymousreply 248July 15, 2021 4:45 PM

P.S. to my R247 above: Jake can take along trumpette Leigh Ann Caldwell and her wig hat when he leaves the island for Fox.

by Anonymousreply 249July 15, 2021 9:01 PM

MORNING MIKA??? The prompter will be worn out.

by Anonymousreply 250July 15, 2021 9:11 PM

R249 I'm intrigued. What about Sherman & Caldwell make them Fox-ista material? They seem to do fairly straightforward reporting. The core MSNBC staff treat them with deference, and esp. seem to like Leigh Ann. Admittedly her dye-job/wig would fit right in at Fox.

by Anonymousreply 251July 15, 2021 11:21 PM

Eli Stokols was on Nicolle's show today, reporting in from his bedroom, with his big fluffy bed right behind him.

by Anonymousreply 272July 16, 2021 1:47 PM

I will miss her in the mornings. She was not on my short list of those I'd love to see exit the network. R272- You could be on to something. Has it been rumored that Psaki is wanting to leave her post?

by Anonymousreply 273July 16, 2021 1:51 PM

R273, she said when she started that she was glad to help the new administration get started but didn't want to stay long because she's got little kids at home and wants to spend her time raising them.

by Anonymousreply 274July 16, 2021 1:53 PM

Kasie has the potential and soccer mom quality to host one of the major network morning shows. Wouldn't be surprised if she turns up on the Today Show or Good Morning America.

by Anonymousreply 325July 17, 2021 5:02 AM

She'll probably have one more baby, then divorce her husband and come out of the closet.

by Anonymousreply 326July 17, 2021 5:05 AM

R325/R326, I really wonder about her.

Kasie doesn't seem the disingenuous type.

Yet I think it's pretty clear to everyone (maybe not her) that she might very well be a lesbian.

So why not just come out?

But even stranger, why get MARRIED and have a kid?

If she even feels the slightest bit attracted to women, it would make sense to just remain single.

So either she is completely lying to herself, or she is in deep, DEEP denial.

[quote] Does no one else remember that Barnicle was forced to resign from the Boston Globe when he plagiarized a whole list of George Carlin’s jokes for his column?

MSNBC wants us to forget about Barnicle's plagiarism. They also want us to forget about Doris Kearns Goodwin's plagiarism. They want us to forget about Nicolle Wallace's work as communications director for George Bush. They want us to forget that Tim Miller, in his work for a Republican PR firm, tried to discredit Facebook's critics by linking them to boogeyman George Soros. And they want us to forget Bill Kristol's history, including pushing Sarah Palin onto the national political stage.

I'm not even joking.

Way Too Early isn't really about news, any way. It's just a filler that MSNBC created to compete with CNN's early segment.

Claire could do whatever the fuck she wants at 5 a.m. (4 a.m. Central).

And when there's actual news, she can definitely handle that too.

Please MSNBC, let Claire do Way Too Early!

by Anonymousreply 377July 19, 2021 2:23 AM

Anything that gets Joe Scarborough to run his mouth less.

by Anonymousreply 378July 19, 2021 2:26 AM

Or they could just forget about live news so early in the morning and make it a straightforward baking show that's recorded, so McCaskill doesn't have to get up before sunrise. She could editorialize about politics while the day's goodies are baking, and some trainee could break in every half hour with a brief live news update.

by Anonymousreply 379July 19, 2021 2:35 AM

Is anyone letting MSNBC know that we love Claire, and want her to have her own show?

by Anonymousreply 380July 19, 2021 2:44 AM

^How many people is "we"? Six?

by Anonymousreply 381July 19, 2021 2:48 AM

I wonder if Nicolle Wallace is enough of a Mean Girl to sabotage a show of Claire's own?

CNN, their competition, has live news at that hour.

by Anonymousreply 384July 19, 2021 3:08 AM

All the more reason for counter-programming, R384. Give us a choice.

by Anonymousreply 385July 19, 2021 3:11 AM

Whoever suggested a baking show for Claire, has me cracking up.

I think she would be totally insulted by that.

Yes, she's Frautastic.

But the woman is a former U.S. Senator. I highly doubt she would consider a "baking show" to be worthy of her background.

by Anonymousreply 386July 19, 2021 3:23 AM

R386, she'd be welcome to pontificate about politics while whipping egg whites. Modern women needn't confine themselves to one thing at a time, and there's as much honor in baking a beautiful cake as in being a politician (many people might say there's more).

by Anonymousreply 387July 19, 2021 3:29 AM

[quote] But the woman is a former U.S. Senator. I highly doubt she would consider a "baking show" to be worthy of her background.

Have you seen her on MSNBC, broadcasting from her kitchen, always with a different cake in the background? Baking is one of her many talents. She's even posted recipes on Twitter. She probably knows more about baking than most of the idiots on the Food Network.

Besides, it wouldn't be purely a baking a show. She would talk about voting rights, COVID vaccines, GOP craziness, etc., as she's mixing the ingredients. She could even invite some of her former Senate colleagues to join her as guests in her kitchen. It would be a hoot.

Lol R387 and R388.

I'm not arguing with you!

Personally, I would love nothing more than to see Claire doing a show with exactly what you're talking about. You especially, R388.

But nowdays, you never know how people will react to those suggestions.

She seems good humored enough to take those things in stride, and have a good laugh with us.

But then there are others, who would go absolutely berserk, and call for you to be cancelled just for the thought of it!

by Anonymousreply 389July 19, 2021 3:33 AM

She once did some interview called “Kitchen Talk”.

by Anonymousreply 390July 19, 2021 3:36 AM

"Kitchen Table Issues with Claire McCaskill." The feisty ex-senator invites you into her home as she bakes cakes and dishes about politics. A delicious addition to MSNBC's programming menu.

by Anonymousreply 391July 19, 2021 3:57 AM

I swear, Cooking With Claire, or At the Kitchen Table With Claire would be a fucking ratings blockbuster.

Not just for MSNBC, but across all cable news networks.

There's really nothing else like it on television right now.

You guys could potentially have brainstormed a HIT Show, right here on Datalounge.

by Anonymousreply 392July 19, 2021 3:59 AM

[quote] But the woman is a former U.S. Senator. I highly doubt she would consider a "baking show" to be worthy of her background.

Note that the one time the Senator filled in for Nicolle, she ended the show by serving guests and crew one of her home baked specialties.

by Anonymousreply 393July 19, 2021 9:48 AM

Ugh It’s Lemerie!!!!

by Anonymousreply 394July 19, 2021 10:01 AM

^^ Wait, didn't you forget the poop emoji?

by Anonymousreply 395July 19, 2021 10:24 AM

Never mind e-mailing MSNBC, make your suggestions directly to Claire. You start, R391 -- you next, R392. No profanity and don't mention DL. Maybe Twitter would be better than e-mail.

by Anonymousreply 396July 19, 2021 1:35 PM

Joy Reid is a guest tonight on Steven Colbert - will she be sporting her braided coif or maybe something a bit more demure? It would be interesting to see what she wears tonight on her show The ReidOut and if that carries over to her guest spot on Colbert. If someone is subbing for her on The ReidOut then maybe she could wear a Do-rag with a big Afro pic hanging from her neck which would through a big curve to her fans! The Colbert audience would love it!

by Anonymousreply 398July 19, 2021 4:36 PM

Ok R393, that is just too damned ... adorable.

It's why I want to see more of Claire on television.

by Anonymousreply 399July 19, 2021 5:40 PM

This doubt that Claire would consider a baking show worthy of her background as a onetime U.S. Senator: U.S. Senator is a category that includes Chuck Grassley and Rand Paul. It's not all that exalted.

by Anonymousreply 400July 19, 2021 5:55 PM

Getting awfully close to Amy Sedaris territory here. And I'd love it.

You are confusing Claire with Home Ec, BA, Marsha Blackburn.

by Anonymousreply 402July 19, 2021 6:23 PM

[quote] At the Kitchen Table With Claire would be a fucking ratings blockbuster.

You do realize that DL is not the typical demographic for MSNBC, just because the food shows are a hit on DL doesn't mean most of America want a cooking show on a News channel.

by Anonymousreply 403July 19, 2021 8:18 PM

Maddow time!

by Anonymousreply 404July 20, 2021 2:24 AM

Lemire is awful. He can’t read the prompter.

by Anonymousreply 405July 20, 2021 1:04 PM

Joy was great on the Late Show w/Steven Colbert - she appeared to have the same do & outfit as she did on her ReidOut show earlier. I enjoyed her being the one having to answer questions for a change and she was on point as usual. In spite of any particular leanings she may have, her knowledge and ability to communicate well are something I really appreciate and gain knowledge on current topics.

by Anonymousreply 406July 20, 2021 1:12 PM

^^^That was actually pretty good television.

by Anonymousreply 407July 20, 2021 5:28 PM

Alicia Menendez is on for Nichole. I would prefer John Heilemann and Alex Wagner but perhaps they're busy working on The Circus.

by Anonymousreply 408July 20, 2021 9:07 PM

Nicolle is no fool, well except for that Pallin fiasco, she rarely has anyone interesting cover for her and when she does like Wagner and Heilmann they rarely get invited back to host again.

by Anonymousreply 409July 20, 2021 9:12 PM

by Anonymousreply 411July 20, 2021 9:20 PM

I love Alicia Menendez. I actually think she is the perfect anchor for MSNBC. Smart, informed, respectful of guests, attractive and opinionated but not fanatic.

I really don't get the hate here.

by Anonymousreply 412July 20, 2021 9:29 PM

R412 (better known as Sen Bob Menendez)

by Anonymousreply 413July 20, 2021 9:32 PM

The way Joy is wearing her wig tonight is flattering.

by Anonymousreply 414July 21, 2021 12:06 AM

R412 I know. People just don't like the nepotism, I guess. It's not exactly that, but close.

by Anonymousreply 415July 21, 2021 12:09 AM

I'm not feeling Joy's Princess Leia wig.

by Anonymousreply 416July 21, 2021 12:39 AM

The halo braids are lovely.

by Anonymousreply 417July 21, 2021 12:46 AM

Joy is attractive. I don't care if she wears a wig, but she just needs to make sure her hair does not overpower her appearance and become THE story. Shorter/contained is a much better look for her.

by Anonymousreply 418July 21, 2021 12:48 AM

[quote]Joy was great on the Late Show w/Steven Colbert - she appeared to have the same do & outfit as she did on her ReidOut show earlier.

I believe anytime MSNBC's primetime hosts appear on late-night talk shows, those shows are usually taped around 4:30 in the afternoon, so she likely had already done Colbert's show before heading back to the studio to host her own show live last night (which accounts for why she had on the same outfit).

by Anonymousreply 419July 21, 2021 1:12 AM

R419 - I agree - My comment (406) did not reference that fact (time of taping, etc.). As I mentioned she was really great (as usual) and I watch her ReidOut show every evening (except when being subbed). She is impressively smart and becoming more informed is a good thing which is why I watch.

Where the heck is Joe Scarborough? He hasn't shown on MJ for over a week.

by Anonymousreply 440July 22, 2021 11:22 AM

I wonder too, R440. As irritating as he can be, he makes the show lively. Mika must have been dropped on her head as a child since she is such a vacuum head. And Willie, well, this guy is as boring as watching paint dry.

by Anonymousreply 441July 22, 2021 6:06 PM

Without Joe there, Mika is doing daily diatribes of the most obvious nature. Willie and Jon Lemire are both so ginger cute, I love watching them. They tried to get her goat this morning, talking baseball.

by Anonymousreply 442July 22, 2021 8:52 PM

Claire was hosting the first hour Thursday for Nicolle again, hopefully she will again tomorrow. Michael Steele is hosting the second hour today.

Joe Scarborough is annoying as hell as is Mika in another way but the show is better with him than without him, when Mika is off you only notice because Willy takes over her role of sending us to commercial. If Mika really knew her value, she would be refunding MSNBC some of her pay.

by Anonymousreply 443July 22, 2021 10:13 PM

Mika always dresses tastefully.

That's all I've got.

by Anonymousreply 444July 22, 2021 11:09 PM

R431, law school isn't that hard. To pass the bar, you just take a review course.

by Anonymousreply 445July 22, 2021 11:14 PM

With Kasie Hunt gone, Katy Tur on maternity leave, and most of the regular hosts on vacation, MSNBC is desperate for substitute hosts. Today, they've had Jonathan Lemire, Garrett Haake, Claire McCaskill and Michael Steele all anchoring. (Interesting that Joshua Johnson from the weekends is never asked to sub for any of the weekday anchors.) I wonder when we'll see DL fave Vaughn Hillyard at the anchor desk? (I imagine he'll have to get his blinking under control first.)

No matter how hard she tries to smile and be nice...there are some bad vibes there.

by Anonymousreply 456July 23, 2021 5:20 PM

[quote] Does anyone ever sense a 'stressed relationship' between Rachel Maddow and Lawrence?

Rachel is very uncomfortable with compliments or praise and for some reason Lawrence heaps it on Rachel in shovels full. I use to think he was mocking her, I am no longer sure. Anyway think of how you are at quitting time when someone tries to strike up a conversation, she wants to go not chit chat.

Thankfully the officers at today's House Hearing on the January 6 Terrorist Attack presented uncensored, no-holds-barred, non-apologetic testimonies. The squeamish be damned; the American people and the world need to hear what transpired on Capitol Hill verbatim.

However, during the 3pm hour, MSNBC chose to edit the phrase "fucking nigger," bleeping out the word "fucking" while letting "nigger" stand. Whose decision was this? Let your viewers hear the truth as presented by the witnesses.

by Anonymousreply 467July 27, 2021 8:41 PM

Now, during "Deadline: White House," they're bleeping the word "nigger." I don't know what it is, but this is not good journalism!

by Anonymousreply 468July 27, 2021 9:09 PM

^We've seen the footage non fucking stop on MSNBC since January 6, and we've heard plenty about how racist the pigs who stormed the Capitol were. I'd love to see the book thrown at all of them, but this has not been underexposed on MSNBC. I would direct your criticisms at Fox.

by Anonymousreply 469July 28, 2021 12:17 AM
