Barbets

Aren't they just the cutest?

Does anyone here have one?

I hear they're a very rare breed.

I see those things all over the place. Looks like a labradoodle or cockapoo or goldendoodle or one of those hybrid dogs.

Those THINGS, R1? Really???

I take it you're not a dog lover.

They do look like Labradoodles. See my attached pic of a Labradoodle.

There's a few legit AKC breeds that look like Doodle-dogs because it's thought that way back when they did mix various larger breeds with Standard Poodles to get curly or wavy hair and the smarts of the big Poodle while keeping the other breed's traits of hunting, retrieving, swimming, or whatever.

Also Poodles shed very little so they may have been going for that trait, too (that's one of the draws of Labradoodles tho you can't be sure to get that trait)

Barbets are water retrievers much like a Labrador - and they do look a bit like a Labradoodle. Wouldn't be surprised if they started out as Poodle+Labrador blend a couple centuries ago.

Barbets are also known as French Water Dogs.

They look very similar to Portugese Water Dogs (Like Bo and Sunny Obama), but I don't know if they're exactly alike.

Anyone know?

I love fluffy dogs like that.

They're almost always friendly.

I like to have them skinned and made into chenille bedspreads.
