What is your favorite shirting fabric?

Well?

by Anonymousreply 32June 20, 2021 12:22 PM

For shirting I prefer Great Value extra strong toilet paper. For peeing I air dry.

by Anonymousreply 1June 18, 2021 6:58 PM

R1 That's sharting. OP is in a stained wifebeater.

by Anonymousreply 2June 18, 2021 7:02 PM

Oh! Thank you, R2, I misread. My favorite shirting is taffeta.

Here's a photo of me in my favorite chiffon shirt.

Shirting? What in the fresh hell kind of adjective is this?

by Anonymousreply 4June 18, 2021 7:16 PM

First of all, it is not an adjective, it's a noun.

Secondly:

shirt·ing

noun: shirting; plural noun: shirtings a material for making shirts, especially a fine cotton in plain colors or incorporating a traditional woven stripe. "Oxford is shirting fabric with a lustrous, soft finish"

by Anonymousreply 5June 18, 2021 7:20 PM

OK, my favorite is Oxford shirting.

by Anonymousreply 6June 18, 2021 7:22 PM

Ermine.

Is "shirting fabric" like a "questing beast"?

Or, like "having shat on Danny Thomas"?

by Anonymousreply 11June 19, 2021 2:33 AM

Oxford cloth

by Anonymousreply 12June 19, 2021 2:35 AM

I like a nice waxed canvas.

In your example sentence, r5, "shirting" is clearly being used as an adjective modifying the noun, "fabric," to tell what kind of fabric. A better example would be "Oxford shirting is meticulously crafted for lustrous, soft finish."

I like cotton mixed with a little bit of spandex for dress shirts. T-shirts too!

by Anonymousreply 20June 19, 2021 4:56 AM

Camel hair.

by Anonymousreply 21June 19, 2021 5:15 AM

It depends if I have access to good laundry and pressing, or not.

by Anonymousreply 22June 19, 2021 5:23 AM

Sea island cotton.

by Anonymousreply 23June 19, 2021 5:30 AM

Cotton broadcloth. Or seersucker if I’m feeling randy.

by Anonymousreply 24June 19, 2021 8:40 AM

Cavalry twill.

Gossamer silk.

Sackcloth and ashes.

by Anonymousreply 27June 20, 2021 3:27 AM

It depends upon the occasion. Oxford is nice for casual, but poplin is smoother than Oxford, and finer than broadcloth, and more suited to a professional look.

by Anonymousreply 28June 20, 2021 3:32 AM

Herringbone is traditional.

by Anonymousreply 29June 20, 2021 10:27 AM

What R28 said, although I'm not convinced that poplin and broadcloth aren't the same thing (at least in American terminology).

by Anonymousreply 30June 20, 2021 10:44 AM

Linen. It’s light and bouncy.

by Anonymousreply 31June 20, 2021 10:57 AM

I like linen for a seasonal thing, but I don't know if I can call it my favorite of all time.
