The Waltons Christmas Special
Did you know that The Homecoming was being remade? Is nothing sacred?
The camp of Patricia Neal as the mother. “John-Boy, are you smoking up here?”
The creepy sadness of Elizabeth getting unnerved by a broken doll.
The Baldwin Sisters hoping to get a black, country preacher and teenage John-Boy tipsy on Papa’s recipe.
No remake can match the brilliance of this Christmas show.

Six children instead of seven? They killed Ben!

Growing up Catholic and working class I identified with the Waltons and couldn't believe they weren't also Catholic, with so many kids so narrowly spaced. All those hand-me-downs.

I would assume this is a backdoor pilot.

This is one remake where I’d like to see an all black cast have a shot at the story.

Will Grandma come out as FtM?

I would watch this just to see how they're going to bring modern sensibilities into it.

I always wanted to see the *real* Waltons.
Grandma always criticizing how Olivia raises the children until one day Olivia takes the butter churn and snacks her across the head with it.
Grandpa always going for walks in the woods to meet Ike Godsey. No wonder he was happy all the time and Corabeth was a drinker.
Jim Bob smoking corn husks in the barn.
Mary Ellen posing for a nude photographer in Charlottesville.
And John-Boy bribing all of them not to write it down.
These shows, like Little House on the Prairie and Andy Griffith, always have a darker side.

Ben Lawson is way too young and hot to be father Walton. C’mon - WTF? Is Jessica Chastain going to play Grandma Walton? Timothée Chalamet as Grandpa Walton?

It's the CW. Remember when Jasmine Guy was playing someone's Grandmother on Vampire Diaries when she was in her 40s.

Liza as Grandma, bringing a little razzle dazzle to Spencer's Mountain.

The actor playing Grandpa is "Alpha Trivette," which sounds like a fussy old top.

R5. Funny, I was just thinking I’d love to see an all white cast tackle a remake if a Good Times. Jean Smart IS Florida Evans!

He's got John Walton, Sr. written all over him.

Not totally off topic, but I met the original Pa Walton, Ralph Waite, when I worked at a hotel in New Orleans 30 years ago.
THE BIGGEST ASSHOLE on the planet. Such a cunt. Insisted his first name was pronounced “Rafe” (sure, Ralph!) and constantly berated the hotel staff everyday. Mean ass drunk.
Wrecked his car and tried to blame it on the valet the next day (who had fortunately taken photos with an instamatic we had on hand for exactly that situation).
Total asshole loser.

I always watch the Christmas episodes of "The Waltons", "Little House On The Prairie", and so on...in addition to "A Christmas Memory", and "Smoky Mountain Christmas" (among others).
I will NOT be watching this remake. I have stated my boundaries!
Now, I just need to find the color DVD version of "A Christmas Memory".

I never cared for the TV series, but the film with Patricia Neal was wonderful.
This past December it was on some odd cable channel and I watched it for the first time in decades - and I enjoyed it just as much as I did when I was a kid.

The CW's audience are SJW tween/teens who try and pass themselves off as "apart of the LGBT community" because they want to be woke and can't handle just being an ally. Their shows are nothing more than porno-lite with B-list writing, and their "stars" will never go anywhere beyond the current demographic. Look at the shitty Riverdale and Nancy Drew "adaptions" (at least, that's what they call them) and the Dynasty reboot for examples.

As a kid, I remember being afraid of Patricia Neal as Olivia Walton. She came across as a mean Jesus freak to me. She made the old bitch grandma look like safe harbour.

I'm going to need more than The Recipe to get through this schlock. Who thought this was a good idea?

I loved "The Homecoming", it was one of the best tv movies of the 70s and that is saying something.
Even as a child I could do a pretty good Patricia Neal impression, sparing my family the bother of me having to come out years later.

R19 Ben Lawson doesn’t look like John Walton Sr. there, but he does look like a bottom Zaddy with that look!

A 41 year old actor with no wife, kids and cum gutters.
No real point calling Jessica Fletcher is there?
