Apparently There’s a Giant House Cat Known As a Maine Coon

I’m just now finding this out?

Gross

by Anonymousreply 2May 22, 2021 11:45 PM

They’re adorable, R2.

by Anonymousreply 3May 22, 2021 11:48 PM

There was a thread about them last week. Sort of odd that a second one is coincidentally started.

Just a boy and his enormous pussy.

by Anonymousreply 6May 22, 2021 11:50 PM

Maine Coons are a breed of cat, but they're not that big; that photo is probably fake.

Maine Coon is a bread of cats OP.

by Anonymousreply 8May 22, 2021 11:50 PM

R8, I love bread cats!

by Anonymousreply 9May 22, 2021 11:51 PM

My friend has one and it’s a very cool cat. Sweet, too. I couldn’t handle all the grooming, though.

by Anonymousreply 10May 22, 2021 11:52 PM

Look at the size of those paws on that cat in OP’s picture. Not to be fucked with, unless you want your fingers to look like shredded mozzarella in a red sauce.

by Anonymousreply 11May 22, 2021 11:54 PM

Is it as big as those photos, R10? Or is R7 correct?

by Anonymousreply 12May 22, 2021 11:58 PM

The sizes vary, R12. Like any other creature. If you saw Shaquille O’Neal walking down the street, would you assume that all men are that tall? The cat in OP’s picture is real, it’s probably just uncommon for them to get that big.

by Anonymousreply 13May 23, 2021 12:04 AM

They’re not really that big.

by Anonymousreply 14May 23, 2021 12:08 AM

OP, that's a LINX cat - a wild animal they make coats out of. Main Coons look different and are not that big.

by Anonymousreply 15May 23, 2021 12:25 AM

Why did you need a new thread OP? What makes you SO SPECIAL?!!!

[post redacted because independent.co.uk thinks that links to their ridiculous rag are a bad thing. Somebody might want to tell them how the internet works. Or not. We don't really care. They do suck though. Our advice is that you should not click on the link and whatever you do, don't read their truly terrible articles.]

OP that is a Norwegian Forest Cat

by Anonymousreply 19May 23, 2021 12:30 AM

Norwegian Forest Cats don’t get that big, R19.

by Anonymousreply 20May 23, 2021 12:33 AM

It's a Lynx

by Anonymousreply 21May 23, 2021 12:33 AM

If I weren't pro animal adoption, rather than buying, I'd spend the $1000-$2000 to get one.

They're known to have great personalities and look fantastic and fantastical.

They make a wonderful fire rug.

by Anonymousreply 23May 23, 2021 12:50 AM

It's a toss up between a Maine Coon, Norwegian Forest Cat, or a Ragdoll/Ragamuffin.

by Anonymousreply 24May 23, 2021 12:54 AM

That’s not a lynx, they have bobbed tails, and aren’t particularly fluffy.

by Anonymousreply 25May 23, 2021 12:57 AM

A Maine Coon would need a huge litter box.

by Anonymousreply 26May 23, 2021 1:54 AM

A true Maine Coon Cat has the letter M on its forehead.

by Anonymousreply 27May 23, 2021 1:58 AM

For those who don’t think Maine Coons can get that big:

Ugh. Now I remember why I hate cats. The smell, litter box and having to feed them. No thanks!

by Anonymousreply 29May 23, 2021 2:59 AM

^ Anyone wanna take this one?

by Anonymousreply 30May 23, 2021 3:09 AM

Augusta would be a good and fitting name for a Maine coon.

by Anonymousreply 31May 23, 2021 3:31 AM

That's a lot of cat.

I want one.

by Anonymousreply 32May 23, 2021 8:43 AM

None of you have one? I thought DLers were cat people?

by Anonymousreply 33May 24, 2021 2:28 AM

I'd name my Maine Coon cat Susan Collins.

At feeding time, when she meowed, I ask, "Are you concerned, dear?"

by Anonymousreply 34May 24, 2021 3:17 AM

Maine Coon cats are beautiful. Bimini and Iggy are the cutest kittens. They are owned by Tiktokers Sebbbyjon and Monty Keats

by Anonymousreply 35May 24, 2021 3:23 AM

Norwegian forest cats are very beautiful, but they get big and prefer some outdoor space. They also have long fur, which means pee and poop can get stuck. This is why I opted for a British Shorthair.

by Anonymousreply 36June 26, 2021 6:28 PM

I had two Maine Coon mixes (confirmed by vet) and they were very large, but not freakishly so. They were indeed adorable, gentle, sweet. Charlie, when I lived at the beach (not as great as it sounds--I lived in a basement) used to go out after dark and "hang" with his cat buds under a streetlight on the boardwalk. So mellow.

by Anonymousreply 37June 26, 2021 6:37 PM

Big silly sweethearts.

by Anonymousreply 38June 26, 2021 6:40 PM

We had a calico one that was the sweetest animal. Our family got her when I was 3 and I teased her and dragged her around and she was so patient. I hope she is in kitty heaven now.

by Anonymousreply 39June 26, 2021 6:48 PM

Do those big cats have arthritis issues when they get older because of their size?

by Anonymousreply 40June 26, 2021 7:14 PM

One of mine was Manx/Maine Coon and had a limp when we rescued him. The vet didn't know what happened to him, but he was no spring chicken, so maybe it was arthritis. I know very large dogs get it, right?

That is adorable.

by Anonymousreply 42June 26, 2021 11:10 PM

My Maine Coon mix was a great buddy for 20 years. Great personality, handsome, good with people but could be a bit stubborn when he wanted something. Rescued from drug dealers as a kitten!

by Anonymousreply 43June 26, 2021 11:28 PM

Like how, R43? Tell us some stories.
