AND EXPLAIN YOURSELVES. What bed do you like from the wayfair site?
Couldnt find anything there that really appealed to me, this comes the closest
Its still a bit on the plain side though

If we are permitted to go "off reservation and post non-Wayfair beds here is one very similar to one I used to have. Same colour but with gilted highlights. Quite practical, solid construction, plenty of storage underneath, easy to dismantle for moving if necessary, and I was able to fit a futon mattress into it.

Alternatively this with a nice red crushed velvet instead of the white material would be a nice option

[r7] i know someone who had this bed. They used a rich olive colored velvet; it was gorgeous.

R8 that would definitely work too. I was also considering that a chintz could work with this too, or a nice bold but traditional floral pattern
Here's a a nice example that I like

If you wanna spend the big bucks for a genuine antique this one is pretty awesome, may not fit in a modern apartment though. If I had unlimited cash to spend this is the way I'd go
About as far off Wayfair as you can get, sorry OP

What is the point of bed curtains? What about the ones that barely cover anything but the pillow area?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 11, 2021 5:47 PM |
I like this bed, not the mattress. Is this available on wayfair webiste?

At those prices, those beds must be crap.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 13, 2021 6:16 AM |
ALL of you have the most goddamned awful taste.
You all must be very old lady gay spinsters who fancy yourselves as princesses.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 13, 2021 1:05 PM |
R14 I did see that design on their site, but with a white finish. I cant find it again, that Wayfair site is a nightmare to navigate, and the filtering doesnt work well
Closest I can find is this
R17 show us your taste then motherfucker. The lets have at it

Do any of you have one those Purple mattresses? How are they?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 13, 2021 1:50 PM |
R19 fair enough, its important to get a bed that does exactly what you need of it
R14 I found the bed you were looking for

An Amish bed-heavy, wooden, and made to last until your great, great nephew inherits it.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 13, 2021 2:04 PM |
Most of them have centre legs, which means the slats and frame are flimsy. Not that is really matters, furniture these days is meant to look fashionable and be disposable. No point in moving your furniture around with you, by the time you pay for storage or a removal, you might as well just buy new when you get to the next destination.
That being said, I've always wanted a murphy bed
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 13, 2021 2:14 PM |
I can see why you might go with disposable furniture if you're constantly on the move, but in that situation I'd just get it second hand from charity shops / op shops or whatever they're called in the states. Too much is considered disposable these days if you ask me.
I dont give a shit about being "fashionable". I just get what I like, which isnt that easy now as fussy and ornate is out of fashion unfortunaely

The BURNING bed!!

R23, are you saying a king-sized bed shouldn't need any support in the middle (centre leg(s))?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 13, 2021 7:41 PM |
The extra legs may also be to distribute the weight more evenly, prevent big marks on the floor/ carpet. Our bed has extra legs which it doesnt need structurally

[R21] thanks so much. Two beds in this style came up with your link. Thanks for searching. I actually tried and could not find it. I added it to my list of beds to consider.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 13, 2021 7:52 PM |
R28 that site is an absolute nightmare to search on!
Another non-Wayfair bed I like is the first one on this page (Ref BR1000) I cant seem to link to individual items on that site

Is there a Eco Friendly Bed furniture store or warehouse with a website?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 13, 2021 8:00 PM |
R30 most eco-friendly way to buy furniture is to buy it second hand or antique. Thats the way I'd be inclined to go, mainly because what I like isnt easily or affordably available new
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 13, 2021 8:03 PM |
I don't think so. It is sprayed with toxic chemicals to kill beg bugs. If used is organic, they mean it has life forms; ie, bed bugs. No away.

A French rosewood bed I picked up at auction. Circa 1890.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 13, 2021 11:17 PM |
how much was this bed at auction?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 13, 2021 11:19 PM |
I got it for €600. Perfect condition. Retailing from about €3k upwards. Good quality new mattress obviously, terrific to sleep in.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | May 13, 2021 11:20 PM |
Traditional cherry sleigh
by Anonymous | reply 36 | May 14, 2021 2:11 AM |
R33 way to go! And you got a good deal on it too. I'd far rather this than anything from Wayfair
R32 new stuff will be sprayed as well generally, along with all the toxic stuff used to treat the materials its made from. R33 has made the perfect choice if you are going to be eco-friendly
