Trashy Final Films of Classic Hollywood Actresses
The final films of Joan Crawford, Miriam Hopkins, Veronica Lake and Agnes Moorehead all seem to be low budget 1970's horror films. Bette Davis's final film was Wicked Stepmother which she left halfway through filming and they ended up having to recast her with both an animatronic cat and Barbara Carrera.
Any other honorable mentions?

Lana Turner's last feature film in 1980 was a piece of shit with Terri Garr called "Witches' Brew". A whopping 4.3 rating out of 10.0 on IMDB. The whole movie's up on YouTube.
The Electro-Disco title song in the opening was sung by Joyce Vincent (the other Black chick in Tony Orlando & Dawn that's not Telma Hopkins).

Mary Pickford in "Secrets" (1933), as Leslie Howard's wife (Howard was only about a year younger than she was.)
"Wealthy banker and shipowner William Marlowe and his wife Martha have their hearts set on marrying their daughter Mary to English aristocrat Lord Hurley. However, Mary has other ideas. She has fallen in love with John Carlton, one of her father's clerks. When Mr. Marlowe finds out, he fires John. John decides to go west to make his fortune, then return for Mary, but she insists on going with him. They elope.
"The couple settle in California and after a while, have a herd of cattle and a baby boy. While John and hired hand Sunshine are away getting supplies, notorious outlaw Jake Houser and his gang show up and rustle the herd. John rounds up the other ranchers. They catch and hang three of the gang, including Jake's brother, but Jake gets away. Vowing revenge, Jake and his men attack the Carlton home. Help arrives and the rustlers are wiped out. The baby succumbs to illness during the gunfight.
"Years pass, and the Carltons prosper greatly. Four more children are born, and John runs for governor of the state. They host a party on the night before the election at their mansion. Lolita Martinez, John's lover, scandalizes everyone by showing up. In private, she insists that Mary free John to marry her. Mary agrees, but John spurns his mistress and begs his wife's forgiveness; she gives it on condition that he tell her about all his prior lovers. Lolita makes public their affair, but John still wins the election.
"Later, he becomes a senator, serving for thirty years in Washington, D.C. before deciding to retire and move back to California. This puzzles the couple's grown children; Mary explains that they want time for themselves, to enjoy secrets they can share with no one else. When their offspring still oppose their decision, the couple sneak away."- Wikipedia

Jayne Mansfield (who never had a very distinguished screen career to begin with) bailed out with 2 cheap & miserable looking mid 60s flicks. Her last fully completed movie was something called "Las Vegas Hillbillys" with Mamie Van Doren in 1966.
At the time of her death she was in the process of filming something called "Single Room Furnished". Her work was never completed but they eventually ended up releasing the movie anyway. A 4.6 rating out of 10.0 on IMDB. A far cry from the big budget productions Fox gave her for a few years in the 50s.

Barbara Stanwyck's last feature film was a cheap William Castle Horror "B" called "The Night Walker". A professional reunion with her ex husband Robert Taylor. I've saw it years ago and from what I remember it's actually pretty good.

R16 I own a copy of Las Vegas Hillbillies, the only reason to watch it is to see some real life Country stars of the era, such as Ferlin Husky, Bill Anderson, Connie Smith, and Sonny James, singing in color. The sequel film Hillbillies in a Haunted House, though is a fun little film that features Lon Chaney, Jr., Basil Rathbone and John Carradine. It isn't a masterpiece but is 10x better than LVH.

Jean Harlow's last film was Saratoga, a prestige production also starring Clark Gable. She was terribly ill from kidney failure throughout filming--Gable later described her gray skin, bloated figure, and breath that smelled of urine (all signs of kidney failure). It became MGM's highest-grossing film of the year.

BD and her husband were a couple of leeching losers. Neither one of them cared to work for a living, and Bette supported them financially. And she was very generous in her support, keeping them at a comfortable level that was more or less upper-middle-class. Bette spoiled BD rotten her whole life, then BD went and wrote that nasty book. It was such a shitty, backstabbing thing to do. Bette would've been a fairly wealthy woman if it hadn't been for her leeching relatives.
There's really nothing scandalous in BD's book, Bette wasn't an abusive mother. It was no "Mommie Dearest." Bette drank too much, and could be overbearing and overly involved in her children's lives but so have millions of other mothers. The conflicts and arguments in the book were just the usual family stuff, except that it involved a celebrity. The whole book was a big nothing.

Then the husband spent the rest of her life trying to over turn the trust her son had set up, so he could get the money. The husband admitted that she had been treated for memory issues since two years before they married. Therefore, I can’t hold it against her for appearing in that film. Her gold digging husband probably made her.

George Cukor directed back-to-back box office bombs that abruptly ended the careers of their leading ladies. After "Two Faced Woman" (1941) performed poorly, Greta Garbo bought out her MGM contract and retired for good. I wish this trend would come back. Every now and then you get a throwback to these movies, but with all the great actresses over 50 who rarely work, it'd be nice to see someone throw them a bone and cast them as a fun psycho to give them something to sink their teeth into. Ryan Murphy sort of does it on American Horror Story and it led to Jessica Lange getting a big career boost, but he's the only one even attempting it.

That was one good thing about shows like Hotel and Love Boat: They gave old Hollywood troopers a chance for a nice paycheck and a little spotlight once again.
Speaking of Garbo, she bought a lot of art in retirement. Some of it wasn't worth much, but some of it turned out to be quite valuable. When she died, she was worth 60 million in today's money. It all went to her niece.

Believe it or not, Ruby Keeler was still working in 1989! Her last theatrical release was a star-studded affair (Martin Sheen, Whoopi Goldberg, Terry Moore & others) called "Beverly Hills Brats".
And even with all that star power, it still ended up being a turkey. A 3.7 out of 10 on IMDB. To put that in perspective, the Jayne Mansfield monstrosities linked earlier in the thread had 4. 7, 4.9 ratings. Hell, even Joan Crawford's "Trog" is ranked higher at 3.9!
This was also the last screen effort for Natalie Schafer.

Two boys found Bobby Driscoll's body on a cot inside an abandoned tenement building. There was no way to identify him, so his body was buried in an unmarked grave in New York;s Potter's Field. Late in 1969, his mother asked Disney officials for help contacting Driscoll because his father was near death. A fingerprint match resulted in the body in the pauper's grave being identified as the former child star.

Twentieth Century Fox's "Queen Of The Bs" & Sid Luft's ex-wife, Lynn Bari closed out her career with a teen flick called "The Young Runaways" in 1968. I've seen it a few times. It's quite silly but entertaining. Kinda plays like a Late 60s episode of "Dragnet".
Miss Bari plays a frigid & bitter mom who keeps pusings her daughter until she finally runs away from home. Her big scene is when she repeatedly slaps the shit out of said daughter, who's played by Patty "The Bad Seed" McCormack. "You're afraid to even hear the word, aren't you mom? Sex! *SMACK!* Sex! *SMACK!* SEX! *SMACK! & SMACK!*
The scene is twice as hilarious when one recalls that Lynn specialized in playing sexy, vampy, husband-stealing femme fatales in the 40s.

It was smart of Love Boat to cast the old Hollywood stars. They were old pros and happy for the work, and they probably didn't cost a fortune to hire. Much of the audience for Love Boat was old folks (I used to watch it with my gran when I stayed at her house), and they enjoyed seeing familiar faces from their youth.
It's not all that much different from the Stranger Things producers hiring Winona Ryder when you think about it.

One thing I like about the Love Boat, is not only did it provide an outlet for some older stars to still find work, it sometimes allowed them to act against type. One of my favorite stories was an episode that featured, in his last acting role, Arthur Godfrey and Minnie Pearl as two older people from a retirement home who elope on the ship and are pursued by their self absorbed children played by Elinor Donahue and Warren Berlinger. It was a gentle yet strong story about how older people are still adults with romantic feelings, and deserve to be treated as such. Neither, Godfrey nor Pearl acted like their usual personas and got to play actual characters.
