I agree but it does seem like, in this case, there was a pre-nup in place that didn't give Anna anything. Not sure why she married this old fart with that kind of pre-nup. Marshall was clear about what he was "trading": i.e., lavish gifts in the here and now for the duration of the marriage. Anna tried to turn that into something else after Marshall died.

Again, she probably could have stayed single and received those same gifts.
