Wasn't she primed to be America's chubby best friend in the early '00s?
WHET Sara Rue?
by Anonymous | reply 70 | May 1, 2021 10:40 PM |
Always liked her.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | April 28, 2021 9:23 PM |
I did too. I just figured she'd at least segue into mom roles on light dramedies.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | April 28, 2021 9:26 PM |
She is a semi-regular on the sitcom B-Positive, playing Thomas Middleditch's ex-wife and completely wasting her talent. She's thin now and looks great.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 28, 2021 9:28 PM |
She actually starred in her own sitcom, the four season 81 episode "Less Than Perfect" featuring Zachary Levi , Sherri Shephard, and Eric Roberts. But she has been supporting ever since. Never got that.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 28, 2021 9:31 PM |
The speech impediment has probably held her back.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 28, 2021 9:35 PM |
I can't believe Less Than Perfect was that long ago. Loved it, and the cast, and not sure I've ever seen it in syndication.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 28, 2021 9:39 PM |
Ryan Murphy abandoned her. Discarded her like yesterday's leftovers.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 28, 2021 9:40 PM |
Now it should be but in those days the magic number to get to syndication was 100. Now shows syndicate after one or two seasons.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | April 28, 2021 9:41 PM |
She shows up on “25 Words or Less”....
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 28, 2021 9:45 PM |
I first (and last) saw her in Less Than Perfect and thought she was going to be a breakout star. Maybe she's not interested in being a "star."
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 28, 2021 10:13 PM |
Love her too. LTP was fucking hilarious.
She had a recurring role on American Housewife as one of the bitchy rich women. She's also been in a few Hallmark movies.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 28, 2021 10:24 PM |
That poster for "Less than perfect" is hilariously cheesy. It looks like the poster for Valerie Cherish's first sitcom, "I'm It!"
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 28, 2021 10:27 PM |
Less Than Perfect was a perfect fit for her. I really liked the show.
Another person who was great in it was Andrea Parker in a role completely different than she played in THE PRETENDER.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 28, 2021 10:38 PM |
I wish all of LTP was on DVD or streaming. Only Season 1 is available.
Zachary Levi was a hot, furry snack in that.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 28, 2021 11:20 PM |
She lost weight and makes Hallmark movies. Lacey Chabert makes a bunch of Hallmark movies, too.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 28, 2021 11:28 PM |
She deserves her own ABC show.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 28, 2021 11:31 PM |
She was also good on the “Eastwick” tv show, but she wasn’t one of the three witches. I liked that show, but it was cancelled quickly. I liked her on “Grand” as well.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 28, 2021 11:40 PM |
In some dumpster of forgotten, bland chubby comediennes, fighting Caroline Rhea for a greasy burger wrapper.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 28, 2021 11:44 PM |
Bland, r21? Did you watch r15?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 28, 2021 11:46 PM |
[quote]I liked her on “Grand” as well.
I honestly thought I'd imagined that show.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | April 28, 2021 11:56 PM |
She shows up periodically on American Housewife as one of the nasty housewives/school moms.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 29, 2021 12:05 AM |
Does anyone fucking read? She's on B Positive.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 29, 2021 12:12 AM |
What's B Positive? Is it a bug-chaser thing?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 29, 2021 12:19 AM |
I loved Less than Perfect. I remember seeing her on an episode of Trading Spaces where she spazzed a bit because they painted the walls in one of her rooms grey. She came off as a bit whiny, though I now realize she was young then. I’d love to see if any of her walls, now, are grey.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 29, 2021 12:25 AM |
Isn’t B Positive canceled?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | April 29, 2021 12:42 AM |
She’s thin now.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 29, 2021 12:45 AM |
R28 I can’t believe that’s an actual show.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 29, 2021 1:43 AM |
Is she related to or affiliated with Simply Sara?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | April 29, 2021 2:00 AM |
I need to go back and figure out where I was in my life when this Less Than Perfect was on because I do not remember it AT ALL.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | April 29, 2021 2:11 AM |
With the the weight loss, she looks almost exactly like Isla Fisher.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | April 29, 2021 2:15 AM |
[quote]She shows up on “25 Words or Less”....
Told a story on “25 Words or Less” where she grew up in NY and her Dad was the stage manager of the show "Barnum". While she hung out backstage, leading lady Glenn Close taught to juggle.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | April 29, 2021 2:20 AM |
She used to show up on "Mom" as Christie's ex-husband's new wife.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | April 29, 2021 2:27 AM |
She was a regular on "Impastor," which was actually a pretty good sitcom.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | April 29, 2021 2:30 AM |
Well....the girl gets work.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | April 29, 2021 3:06 AM |
did she have the weight loss surgery?
by Anonymous | reply 42 | April 29, 2021 3:16 AM |
Honestly, I think she got less funny the more weight she lost. I loved her on LTP, but she was one of the weak links in Reba's one season sitcom Malibu Country.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | April 29, 2021 3:31 AM |
Yeah, Malibu Country was Sara Rue's fault.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | April 29, 2021 4:07 AM |
Sara Rue and Sarah Drew fused into one person for me, wasn’t really following either, but had no distinction between them. Then Cruel Summer started and I looked up to see when Sara lost the weight and discovered two different people.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | April 29, 2021 4:32 AM |
She will always be Gypsy from Gypsy 83 to me.
(Which was maybe the first or second gay movie I saw.)
by Anonymous | reply 46 | April 29, 2021 4:57 AM |
She and Kett Turton were great in that, R46.
I also enjoyed her as the teen version of Roseanne in one of the Halloween specials.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | April 29, 2021 5:07 AM |
Gypsy 83 deserves to be as forgotten as it is.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | April 29, 2021 5:39 AM |
Like Jennifer Grey's nosejob, Sara Rue's weight loss robbed her of what made her stand out. Great as the quirky, chubby girl; just kind of forgettable as the skinny leading lady.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | April 29, 2021 8:16 AM |
I moved from the midwest to LA in 2003 and got a job my 2nd day there filling seats for sitcoms and clapping on camera. I would love to get booked on Less Than Perfect because watching that cast work was magical! I would request to work that show, and I would get to a lot because they couldn't fill the audience with tourists. I started to notice that Sara was losing weight each week, maybe from the stress of the ratings? Not sure, but it was really fun to watch that show tape live. It was also probably the worst job I ever had. Luckily I only had to work for that company for about 6 months or so until I found a better job.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | April 29, 2021 8:44 AM |
Why was it the worst if you enjoyed watching the show? The other shows were torture?
by Anonymous | reply 51 | April 29, 2021 10:35 AM |
Seems like she works a lot, actually.
I get her mixed up with Ginnifer Goodwin.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | April 29, 2021 11:00 AM |
I thought she was the lead in Drop Dead Diva. Apparently she's not.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | April 29, 2021 11:37 AM |
Love her!
by Anonymous | reply 54 | April 29, 2021 11:47 AM |
Only 80k followers.
Sad, last days.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | April 29, 2021 6:15 PM |
R44 I didn't say she was the reason the show failed, but she was one of the weak parts of that uneven show. SR and the kids were the worst parts, if the show had been more focused on Reba, her mom, and the gay assistant, it would've lasted longer.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | April 29, 2021 6:20 PM |
Who played the gay assistant?
by Anonymous | reply 57 | April 29, 2021 6:21 PM |
Not really. The gay assistant was embarrassing and written from the mid-70s. The show was a steaming pile of shit.
Jai Rodriguez played him.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | April 29, 2021 6:22 PM |
Funny part is, it was the highest-rated new show on TV that season but ABC cancelled it for some reason
by Anonymous | reply 59 | April 29, 2021 6:38 PM |
R59 That is true.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | April 29, 2021 7:16 PM |
Probably because being the highest rated new show of that season still amounted to five viewers. Too bad it wasn't on the CW. They renew everything. Except for The Starlet, those cocksuckers.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | April 29, 2021 7:51 PM |
That was due to all the Little Homosexual Boys, Miss Dunaway.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | April 29, 2021 8:18 PM |
R62 The season average was 1.4 in the 18-49 demo and 6.34 million in total viewers, which isn't bad for 8:30 on a Friday in the modern era.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | April 29, 2021 9:17 PM |
The other mostly TV sitcom actress who hasn’t gotten a big hit show is Judy Greer. Someone should come up with a best friends sitcom starring them both. Maybe together they’d be a hit.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | April 29, 2021 9:48 PM |
The only thing I’ve ever seen with her is The Ring. She was the chub babysitter. She looks totally different thin!
by Anonymous | reply 66 | April 29, 2021 10:42 PM |
Speaking of Less Than Perfect, it is too bad Andrea Parker largely disappeared after that, Loved her on both that show and the Pretender. I liked Zach Levy as well. He went from that to Chuck which was a 180 and seemed to stay in the lovable nerd persona for future roles. Did he ever play the arrogant snob again?
by Anonymous | reply 68 | May 1, 2021 1:09 PM |
She is goals.
